Hi, I am Lisa, a speech language path from Minnesota. I wasn't in the initial discussion so hope it is okay that I join in on the continuation. #21stedchat
Q1: In the last #21stedchat about the Maker Movement we agreed that it has morphed. It seems to fit well in self contained classes...but how can we integrate into the departmentalized environment of 6-12?
I have started on @participate which has been very helpful. https://t.co/IxcAZMARRy There is a schedule of all of the Twitter chats. I am going to check out Tweetdeck as well. Follow some educators that are well connected and learn from them #21stedchat
Please send me any questions via twitter and we can work through this together. If you click on the red dots next to someones name you can follow them. I followed you so please message me anytime #21stedchat
A2. Maker is a mindset so you can integrate the mindset within the classroom. You can also have an maker area in the room and when students finish early or in homeroom. #21stedchat
I wish I could reply, but missing the initial chat makes this hard for me to follow. Sorry about that. I don't even know what the maker movement is! feeling stupid :) #21stedchat
Don't miss this months #STEM4All chat this Tuesday 9pm! @inspectorplanet is joining us to push our thinking in "Discussing Controversial Topics w/Students"! We need to have these conversations "not because they are easy, but because they are hard"- JFK. #STEM#STEAM#21stedchat
Jumping in here, as it's easier .... Maker movement = Hands on learning, project based, somewhat student led, may have .a prompt / book / or focus point to get started. My definition. #21stedchat
I am thinking of the ELA (for example) teacher for example that is thinking...I know nothing about it, have to learn about it, then use it. It doesn't seem as a easy fit as it would in math or science. #21stedchat
Our library has numerous whiteboard tables that the students use to communicate about discoveries they have made in the VR room. They can write, draw and explore using colored markers and their imaginations. Starting to see great student led conversations. #21stedchat
