Hello all! It's #txed time! I'm Paul, a digital learning coach from Richmond, TX. I'm ready for some great conversation. Who else is joining us tonight?
Thank you, @DrGregBonnen Our children deserve to be safe at home and school. Unfortunately, recent events have made us more aware of our deficiencies. This is an important step to address them. Dr. Bonnen’s office is actively working w/ educators to get this right. #txed#txlege
1/2 Students and parents expect their schools to be a safe and secure environment. That's why I filed HB17 and HB1754. This legislation and associated funding will provide each campus with the direction and resources they need to establish and maintain that environment.

A1-Show that excitement. Even on days when you are not that excited, push yourself. You are the best motivator that these kids might see in a life time. #TXed
A1. I think it is important to define what success looks like. It doesn't necessarily look the same for all learners. Success can be individualized and is not about "passing." Growth measures can be a form of success. #TXed
#txed A1 My classroom is #SHOWTIME! I imagine I am Tim the Tool Man Taylor everyday. The kids LOVE the grunts and the #MorePower chants! Never fails that my Ss leave my room with a smile. <3 MY JOB! This quote from the Big Bang Theory is POWERFUL!
A1: establish a risked taking environment and celebrate everything .... big and small, the good, the not so good. Everything and anything...just celebrate kids! #txed
A1: Getting kids involved in their progress helps them stay motivated. Let them set the goals and track their progress. They get so excited about achieving their goals & it becomes contagious in the classroom. Celebrate their success & give them ownership of it. #txed#neisdpln
A1: I love to celebrate student learning, growth, and work! I also love to celebrate them with little notes of praise; Golden H, Strategy King/Queen, LEADer, or just a happy note home! I love getting pictures of these notes on the fridge or a board in their room! #TXed
A1: I think the best way to motivate students is to go in everyday with a positive outlook and make them feel like they are capable of success! #TXed#Sp19EDFB4338
Q2: The excitement at the beginning of a unit or lesson often fades. How do you maintain a high level of passion in your students? How do you fan the flame? #TXed
A1: Build relationships! I was just talking to a friend about this! The best way to motivate anyone to do anything is to build relationships! I will bend over backwards to help you if I like you and so will the kids!! #TXed
A1: set the environment for your classroom for learning. Sometimes we fall off the bike, & I'm proud that you got back on that seat! We've got to try, try, try! #TXed
A1 Show them they can be successful, model, help them set goals, give them tools for the future, and help them find their vision. You know, standard daily teacher super powers. #txed
A2 You fake it until you make it. Your students rely on you. They look up to you and they watch you for the helm of the ship. You get excited, they do too. #TxEd
A2: by having an established relationships you are able to make things relevant for students based in their interests and personalize their learning to keep them engaged through the entire concept. #txed
Q2: The excitement at the beginning of a unit or lesson often fades. How do you maintain a high level of passion in your students? How do you fan the flame? #TXed
A2. Backwards planning! Knowing your students is the 1st step. Since you know that the flame will fade, plan engaging activities throughout. Take them outside. Cut the worksheets. Workstations are always great. Make it fun throughout! #TXed
Q2: The excitement at the beginning of a unit or lesson often fades. How do you maintain a high level of passion in your students? How do you fan the flame? #TXed
#TXed The key is to find the interest of the student and it’s connections to the Unit. At times, you have to fish for the hook, but that’s all related to t/s relationships! #bethechange

A2: I love watching teachers really plan to engage students by creating real world problems to solve, creating experiences they will never forget, and letting them work with their peers. #txed#collaboration
Q2: The excitement at the beginning of a unit or lesson often fades. How do you maintain a high level of passion in your students? How do you fan the flame? #TXed
A2: By bringing their world into our skills. Reading topics they love, applying math to scenarios they find themselves in, using tech to bring the real world into our classrooms everyday, and building community. #TXed
#txed A2 Your kids have less than a 5 minute attention span (IF THAT) ENGAGE THEM! Your lesson must be more engaging and pleasing than what is on the kids cell phone. I <3 my job, I tell my kids this, the Ss respond by being great pupils.
A2:I’ve noticed my kids stay engaged through the end of the unit when I plan fun kinesthetic-based activities. Also, the farther into the unit we get, the more opportunities I give them to be the “teacher”- student led learning helps build confidence and maintain engagement #txed
A2: I fan the flame through my excitement! I like to let students know what is coming and ask them what they liked best about the day and what they want to see again. Blended learning and student choice keeps motivation and engagement high!#TXed
A2b: Using @lead4ward unit planning systems is super helpful to make sure you’re planning for memorable moments, vocab, and prioritizing standards for Ss benefit. #TXed
A2 Put the learning in the students hands. Choice. And science is a wonderful learning rabbit hole that never ends! They are only limited by themselves. #txed
You have to take it until you make it. We don’t get to teach our favorite lesson everyday. But we have to make it every lesson our favorite lesson in front of the kids. Period, done. #txed
Q2: The excitement at the beginning of a unit or lesson often fades. How do you maintain a high level of passion in your students? How do you fan the flame? #TXed

#TXed A3 I find that as I DELIBERATELY applauded my gals, they begin to confidently use their voice to show their thinking. My young men take notice and truly begin to listen and respect my gals. The top 5 spots for math & science are held by my gals! #bethechange@EBESBees
A3:let them create!! We have the best librarian of all time who sets up an incredible maker space area we can take our kids to weekly. The kids love it and they get to create whatever they want -no limits. These opportunities for kids to freely create and explore is crucial #txed
Are you kidding me? With 3 daughters I’m always highlighting the amazing women who are in STEM fields. Show them. They just need to be exposed to it. #txed
A2: I love letting the ss go into the spotlight by sharing what they are learning and helping each other throughout the lesson. Knowing that they get to share what they are working so hard on really keeps the momentum going! Especially if you add technology! #TXed

A2: keeping the flame going by keeping things fresh & change.. simply changing the mode of delivery, learning style, partner/independent/group, student led discussion, location, etc. #txed
A3 Girls in STEM is one of my passions. They need to see women in science. See value and a need. There is STEM in everything. Girls grow up to be women that society needs to solve real-world problems. Girls also need time with legos and cars. I hate boy and girls toys. #txed
Anyone else getting so passionate in their replies to this #txed convo that you run out of characters and have to go back to see what part you think your response can do without?! 😅

A4: I’m going to love you so hard, but also not allow you to be anything less than your absolute greatest! Kids can do WAY more than they want to believe and more than they want to show... pull it out piece by piece! #TXed
#TXed A4 For me it’s as simple as a relationship. Everyone can talk about it, but you have to walk the talk. I thank God for my 2000 4th graders and their parents who are still connected to me. I live and breathe my students AND I’m not ashamed to admit it! #bethechange
I tell them that life is hard. It can be hard for the first 22-23 yrs of our lives getting a degree. Or we can work hard from 22-23 to the end of our lives without a degree. We can change the trajectory of our lives by how hard we work. #txed.

A5. My godmother. She adopted me when I was in HS. I never thought about college before meeting her at church. She saw something in me nobody else did and with the help of foster care, I got in to college (after being denied at 1st). To date, she's my biggest cheerleader. #TXed
Loved the topic and love the #txed team. I’ll be around a little more. Just swamped at the moment. Keeping our nose to the grindstone. Keep fighting the good fight. #txed

To maintain high interest in a unit study, plan accordingly to student's needs. Start with data, then personalize their learning pathway, while facilitating their learning process. #incentivesworkgreat! #txed#21stcenturyclassroom
