Let's get started by introducing ourselves with your name, what you teach, where you teach it, and your favorite Earth Day gif
A1: I did not celebrate Earth Day this year in my class, but I always enjoy teaching our Reduce, Reuse, and Recylce unit in the third quarter! #dojochat
A1: At the preschool that I am helping in for a field experience this semester we have beeen celebrating earh day all month! our current theme is earth and I was even able to teach a lesson about the rain and water cycle #dojochat
Q2: One of my favorite read alouds about the earth and how to protect it is Stuff! by Steven Kroll. It is about a pack rat who learns to reduce, reuse, and recycle! #dojochat
A3 We partner with the Green Your School Program and create STEM lessons throughout the school year. My favorite unit was a Research Based Question about how construction affects our water supply. #dojochat
A3: I love using What If Everyone Did That? as a jumping off point. It makes for great discussion, thinking maps, which leads to writing, and often video selfies! #DojoChat
A3: Here is a way to kick off your Earth Day activities! Live feed from the #SpaceStation My Ss loved viewing this today, and then journaling their observations! https://t.co/KMgWFkAcfL#DojoChat
A4 Ss learned all about the importance our water resource, how to test PH of water, and cleaned our stream all with the help of our local water system company. #dojochat
A4: Depending on the grade that is being taught. In the preschool that I am at right now the kids don't necessarily understand the term "natural resource" but we like I said before we are hinting at things such as water and plants #dojochat
A4: One way that I have seen this taught is at one of the schools I observed. At lunch they had all the different bins for different materials. While the students ate they heard about what was happening with the bins that they were filling up! #dojochat
A4 Our third graders have a year long unit on Vermaculture, types of soil, composting, etc. It is amazing to see the pride they take in their worm colonies. #dojochat
Q4: One of my favorite lessons includes Timon and Pumbaa's Safety Lesson about Going Green! Students are shocked to see the characters' favorite vacation spot gone bad! #dojochathttps://t.co/bLJao6uf3b
A5 We have a school-wide initiative with a team of students called the Green Team. They collect our school's recycling 2x a week. They do a great job! #dojochat
Q5: In my future classroom I would want to recycle different materials through projects or crafts. Using plastic bottles as planters is one of my favorite ideas! I have a pinterest board for recycling ideas if you guys want to check it out! https://t.co/rTBWh5DXRC#dojochat

A6: My favorite thing to reuse are Lysol/Clorox wipes cans, I cover them in duct tape or modge podge paper onto them and use them to store EVERYTHING! #dojochat
A6: I have seen teachers save marker caps and glue stick caps so when one goes missing (like they always seem to do) there's a replacement so nothing dries out! #dojochat
A7: I started timing my students at the water fountain/washing hands. I have some students who will just play in the sink for DAYS! I also have a student assigned as the "Tech Guy/Girl" to turn of the computers and the surge protectors off at the end of each day #dojochat
A7: In the classroom it would be cool to use natural lighting, solar energy, and keep the door closed to save energy while the heater or air conditioning is on! #dojochat
A8: have a project where they bring in recycled water bottles, milk jugs, cardboard boxes etc. and have them make something from what they collected #dojochat
A8: I post pictures on Class story for all our Earth Day activities, I also send home some of their projects. I also choose a student to retell the stories we read every day for our "Earth Week" on Student Stories. I also send homework with Earth day activities. #dojochat
Love this idea! Just be careful that you explain that they should clean the stuff before they use it. you might end up with a sticky (or worse, buggy 🐜🕷️) situation #dojochat
