Safeguardings everyone's responsibility day to day with anything relating to behaviour management but anything more than that I think it needs passing on as they may well have a bigger picture of whats going on #ukedchat
Q4 #UKEdChat Give school staff enough time to notice when a child behaves differently. Too often it's rush from one lesson to another & then to a meeting so no time for observation. I've noticed behavourial differences because I spend break times talking to and observing students
We use 'MyConcern' which records and manages info securely. However, people need to be trained to use this in line with the actual safeguarding training. Then there needs to be confidence from staff to use it wholly, however small something may appear. #ukedchat
#UKEdChat A4 Time needs to be there...time to get to know children...time to observe changes....time too talk....time to recognise a possible issue otherwise everyone rushing around and seeing nothing
A4: Involving all staff in safeguarding conversations and training- including how to promote positive protective factors that have a preventative impact for those at risk #ukedchat
A6 I had a child say that his mother was giving him morphine, it turned out that he'd been given morphine in hospital and because him mums a nurse and he's artistic, he thought that all medicine was morphine #ukedchat
#UKEdChat A5 for a greater understanding that behaviour is trying to tell adults something so take the time/make the time to listen. Would LOVE to hear that CAMHS/Social Care had enough staff to allow early intervention and not have to ignore concerns as they are so overstretched
A5 The involvement of whole staff, a discussion of preventative safeguarding not just reactionary, up to date evidence based understanding of risk&protective factors inc focus on the impact promoting protective factors can have long term for all #ukedchat

A2 #ukedchat our whole academy is trained & uses the CPOM system daily. All concerns/events are logged online, it is set up to categories issues & then notify SLT & appropriate staff. SLT can add actions & offer further support/training or refer where needed
