    In reply to @asheetsroom14
  • BevSharritt Jan 8 @ 8:37 PM EST
A1: Formative means the test will level to the student’s ability as the student responds during testing. Previous testing was summative and all students took the same questions. #PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:37 PM EST
A1: Formative is better for students with significant needs, right? It allows for quick adjustment based on student needs and abilities. #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 Jan 8 @ 8:38 PM EST
HOORAY! This is awesome news! #patinsicam

  • ksuding Jan 8 @ 8:39 PM EST
Coming TO the student is a good thing. #PatinsIcam
    In reply to @BevSharritt
  • danielgmcnulty Jan 8 @ 8:40 PM EST
A1: Formative Assessment attempts to gauge Ss knowledge and provide feedback and guidance along the way, whereas Summative is an evaluation at conclusion of a unit, for example. #PatinsIcam
  • katietaylorIN Jan 8 @ 8:40 PM EST
This is great news! Hoping that ALL Ss will feel some level of success and have a chance to show what they know and allow for some stretching of skills knowledge #patinsicam

Exposure to the tools so they are not brand new during the test is key! It also supports our desire for students to have LIFE tools, not just TESTING tools! #PatinsIcam

    • danielgmcnulty Jan 8 @ 8:40 PM EST

  • jconradslp Jan 8 @ 8:46 PM EST
A2: you can request a paper copy (through your district test coordinator, I believe), which may be helpful for students who need it for lite tech answering, eye gaze, light boards, etc. #PatinsIcam
    • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:45 PM EST
Q3: Does my student have to take the test online? What other options are available? #PatinsIcam

A4: Allowing students to use their accommodations year around! #PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:49 PM EST
Q5: What does "print on demand" and "braille on demand" mean? #PatinsIcam
  • BevSharritt Jan 8 @ 8:49 PM EST
A4: There are sample banks of questions for every grade level and subject so that the student can experience the testing and accommodations in advance. https://t.co/txICai82no #PatinsIcam
  • PATINSSandi Jan 8 @ 8:49 PM EST
A4: Make sure that the student's daily activities are accessible and that regardless of test accommodations, their learning is fully accommodated throughout the year. #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 Jan 8 @ 8:50 PM EST
A4: the best thing you can do to to prepare kids for the test is to give them tools for success the whole school year! Even if there are setbacks on the test, they will know that their life tools are there to count on! #PatinsIcam
  • jlfahlbush Jan 8 @ 8:50 PM EST
A4: Prepare them as you would for most any test. Engage them, tailor the curriculum to their interests, talk about self-regulation strategies, create a calm environment, use tools throughout the year like TTS even if not allowed on the assessment #PatinsIcam
  • jconradslp Jan 8 @ 8:50 PM EST
A4: I always appreciated a preview. That includes trying to mimic the classroom too. The first memory I had of "the test" was having our seats moved and weird folder things around my desk, and that bothered me. Previews and practice helps everyone #PatinsIcam
  • katietaylorIN Jan 8 @ 8:50 PM EST
A3: print on demand is available as well. Some downsides to using paper copy of the test is that it wont be leveled to meet the student were they are. [graphic of powerpoint from IDOE regarding print on demand] #patinsicam
  • danielgmcnulty Jan 8 @ 8:51 PM EST
A4: Ss should have opportunity to use multiple accommodations w/data collected to ID most beneficial for tasks at hand. These should be used regularly during the other 175 days of school. A statement from the Indiana Resource Network: https://t.co/nHNmnkGxT7 #PatinsIcam
  • jconradslp Jan 8 @ 8:51 PM EST
And if they can't get it for "the test" give them access to the good strategies and tool the other 175 school days of the year #PatinsIcam
    • RachelH872 Jan 8 @ 8:50 PM EST

  • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:51 PM EST
I love this Rachel. We know that learning is improved and can carry over to tests, when appropriate strategies/accommodations are applied on a regular basis! #PatinsIcam
    In reply to @RachelH872
  • BevSharritt Jan 8 @ 8:52 PM EST
A5: If the student is able to access the test electronically, with only a few exceptions, such as printing out an enlarged graph or diagram, or embossing a graphic, then this is an appropriate accommodation. #PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:52 PM EST
Q6: how do I connect my students' daily accommodations with testing accommodations? A similar consideration to the previous question. #PatinsIcam

Appropriate accommodations come in as many varieties as students. :-) #PatinsIcam
    In reply to @BevSharritt
  • BevSharritt Jan 8 @ 8:53 PM EST
A6: Students should use testing accommodations that they also use every day while on their devices to keep the testing experience authentic and test what the student knows rather than their ability to adapt. #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 Jan 8 @ 8:53 PM EST
    This is phenomenal!!! #PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:54 PM EST
Q7: What will the built-in calculator look like for the test? Is there a way to practice in advance on this tool? #PatinsIcam

  • danielgmcnulty Jan 8 @ 8:54 PM EST

  • PATINSSandi Jan 8 @ 8:55 PM EST
Learning to use AT takes practice and needs to be taught. Never assume a student will "get it" on their own. #PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:56 PM EST
Q8: How will time accommodations be handled with the new test? #PatinsIcam
  • danielgmcnulty Jan 8 @ 8:56 PM EST
    A7: Desmos Calculator Resource: https://t.co/AcjNggaLa6 #PatinsIcam
  • BevSharritt Jan 8 @ 8:57 PM EST
A8: The test is not timed, so all students will be able to work at their pace #PatinsIcam
  • ksuding Jan 8 @ 8:57 PM EST
A8: The assessment will need to be in PERMISSIVE MODE #PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn Jan 8 @ 8:57 PM EST
    Good to know, Bev! #PatinsIcam
