But I hope they do whether connected or not. https://t.co/jSq6LpUAYf
A connected parent doesn't need to ask "What did you learn today" because they already know.
As a P want to be able to exp what is being learned so I can support. Give me flipped classrooms & videos of lessons being taught
A4b I wonder if Ps long/want to be empowered to collaborate? Connect [on its face] is passive activity. Empower is “Let’s do this!”
A4 It provides opportunities to show online what we're doing
I agree! It's so interesting to me when Ts have a Twitter account & no Ps following. Is that really the best?
+ is trending in Washington DC
Off-screen desks--imperative for S choice. Even when permitted, some still don't wish to share publicly.
Definitely! The more reader friendly and familiar, the better. I'm so glad the tools are designed for my K-2 kids.
A5: as a parent, I expect MYSELF to connect first. I want Ts to share info I need and experiences I'd like, not just negatives
A5: Parents should expect a direct connect to the class - show students wk online, let parents know plans for the week
That's huge w/ LMS like where Ts can see more of the classroom, not just grades after the fact in PowerSchool
I'm to the point as a parent that I really want to see at least one photo from the classes each day.
A5 I want a classroom that prioritizes relationship-building and growth mindset.
I do not care about the teacher's textbook.
A5: Being a parent has changed my teaching. I just expect two way open communication. Not too much to ask right?
A3 Used to live stream my Principal's Coffee Chat, accommodating more parents who can't attend
https://t.co/rGd6Zv5AtG
well that's a big problem. Our kids should be retaliated against bc we make noise about moving fwd.
Love the Shout Out post-its! They can be displayed at home, locker, anywhere S can get a boost. No device needed!
u know Microsoft has a great PPT add on called OfficeMix that's great for this. No extra 💰 needed for purc… https://t.co/TftU4Iz2Oj

A5: Not a P, but I would hope there is some digital way to connect bc my child is using every day
A5: parenting has changed my expectations. Be transparent and willing to communicate. It means the world.
A4: T websites & Twitter is slowly catching on. We rely on phone blasts still. Have 2 know your Ps comfort level 4 communication.
A4 Tech great to keep Ps in loop-attendance, assessment schedules, reports, etc. Access to class site can work too.Use Face2Face too
I agree! I need support from the school to know how to partner to best meet my child's needs w/in their community
A5: As a parent, I enjoy having resources posted online, but it doesn't make feel connected. More personal options would be nice.
A4b just make sure your entire community has access to technology tools. Ideal may not be reality!
A5: I do not need a lot of communication, but want to know what my boys are doing well and when they need help
Cool! Live tweeting during the day? On phones? What's the student use policy? https://t.co/JXeRY4gIe6
Yes! Parents are certainly enjoying live Tweeting of students in action throughout the day . https://t.co/Y9JbH5yI3y
A4: Technology allows parents to see, in real time, how their students are doing in class and to celebrate successes
A5: Specifics. What are my child's strengths/weaknesses? Not just what grade they have? How can I help?
Honestly what I want to see & what I am seeing are 2 diff things. 3 yrs of 1:1 Macbooks & NO LMS or blended classrooms.
A5 There are too many great things happening in classrooms to keep to ourselves! Parents and teachers are a team.

A5) My kids in college now but back in the day, I wanted to know how I could help, what Ss were learning, and see feedback
Not always tech related either. Just different experiences than just sitting and listening all of the time.
A5 No children, but I would want consistent information accessible in multiple ways.
A5: would love if Ts were on twitter, sharing cool things from classes that day. Too much seclusion in school still
A photo isn't enough for me anymore. I want short videos of lessons so I can really support at home. https://t.co/OWVWnBkBF8
I'm to the point as a parent that I really want to see at least one photo from the classes each day.

A5c I’d LOVE for Ts to have The Talk with Ps at the start of the school year. You know, where Ps refrain from doing kid’s work.
A5: My son is in HS. His english T sends an email daily about class and HW. Love it to remind him or ask him about it.
A5:Let me know how I can support at home and how I can help when at school. Making my child feel valued and confident

A5: Open communication is so important...no surprises and allow me to journey with teacher, child and the learning process.
A5: As a P I value a 2-way transparent & authentic relationship, understanding what is occurring week to week & how I can support
A5 I'm very interested in this response. Directly connects to my earlier tweet about value of both perspectives
Do Ss use own Twitter accounts? I'd love to try this, but not sure everyone would be onboard.
No children either. I'm fine with just borrowing them for a couple of hours and sending them back
A5: That I am in the know! Open lines of communication, holding me accountable for checking my Ss work, helping me to get involved!
A5 My son's school does great job communicating. If they were more active/Twitter Id know more. He's not one to talk re CR activity

true enough...the positives are special and meaningful, but need to hear the the challenges too...sensitively tho!
wow, we are a walking district. Completely different dynamic.
sure! Tech can do that. Are all parents invited to Skype outside PTO meetings if they want to connect with the T?
A5 Expect caring for my child and her potential. I expect to be informed.
Only 1 student per week or day is in charge of tweeting. T checks & then hits Tweet button
The Ts are tweeting the experiences, but some classes have the Ss doing it using class Twitter accts

For sure. I'm also secondary. My point is being too connected could disengage Ps. Smart use of tech is key.
A P should know the ONE place to go if info needed not have to search multiple
Thanks PLN for another morning of learning! Now I'm ready to explore my first apple festival in GA on a beautiful Autumn day. 🍎🍏🍎

Does it need to be downloaded by the families?
the ‘post it and forget it’ is as ineffective as ‘write it on the board’ to ensure stuff gets done - the tool must create convo
