A1: we tried that for a while last season. I wasn’t a fan because it confused our kids. I just have my guys block their play side shoulder to the nose of the guy next to them. Anyone that shows is theirs. #hogfbchat
A1: yes. Have incorporated into my gap scheme as well. Allows for players to be able to block any front thrown their way. #ThinkInTermsOfDoubleTeams#hogfbchat
A1. Yes. Helps us identify who we are doubling with, and which LB we are responsible for. Rule of 90. Make the right angle—Make the angle right! #HOGFBCHAT
I played football from the time I was 12 until I was 22 and the lessons I learned from football have been priceless.
Here are 15 of those lessons football taught me that I continue to use every day:
https://t.co/howNSlpyXN
A1: with the exception of specific plays, yes, we try to incorporate rules for our kids to fall back on if they get a front they are not ready for. #hogfbchat
A1. Uncovered OL are the hammer for our IZ combos. Uncovered OL pin inside techniques in our OZ game. Covered guys are the post for IZ while they pull in OZ. #hogfbchat
A1: not many of our linemen have had success with true zone blocking. When we did have guys who got it, they were athletic and smart enough to work the cov/uncov rules. #hogfbchat
A1: No we just have basic zone rules. the biggest rule we have is a checklist Gap Down Backer on back blocks. Simplifies it for kids so there is no uncertainty on who to block #hogfbchat
A1 When I used inside zone I used a combo of covered/uncovered and count system rules. Count gave general ideas of who to work to, covered/uncovered got you there #hogfbchat
A1. Dont do zone scheme anymore, but i stressed blocking an area vs a particular person when we ran zone. Kept the kids from chasing when the defense ran a slant or stunt #hogfbchat
A1: Heck yes we have covered and uncovered in zone. Both inside and outside. Gotta know who you’re working with. Outside we start with the first uncovered man. Inside zone we utilized a numbering system effectively. 2 for 2. #hogfbchat
A1: Yes...Covered = block play side number. Uncovered = block play side gap, check next down linemen (if he slants to your gap, take him), if nothing shows climb to second level. #hogfbchat
A1: Rules apply depending on the scheme via inside/outside we block area not the man..Uncovered rules I keep it simple for high school guys proper steps, help chip near d linemen, First defender who shows take them. Most defenses slant if they leave guards uncovered #hogfbchat
A1: We are primarily Veer rules, but when we Zone something that is exactly that - we take our steps, protect our angles and I promise someone will show up. Please have a worse attitude than the guy that shows up. #hogfbchat
A1-Nope, follow your track, eyes on backers, securing 1st level!! I emphasize backside importance, linemen who are typically the TD block!!! #cutbacklife#hogfbchat
A1 Uncovered responsibility to get hip to hip with covered OL with bucket step. Covered OL responsibility to get movement on DL. Both sets of eyes on LB. “If they stunt, block whats in front” #hogfbchat
A1: We use the 90 degree rule. I have our kids make picture a 90 to the side we are running the ball and block the first man who’s comes in it never go back on your 90.
A1: We have a version we use called the 90 degree rule. Use it to give a visible example for covered/uncovered. We have our guy put their arms up at a 90 degree angle to teach zone blocking. #hogfbchat
#hogfbchat we modified/simplified (big time) coach Tenopir's wide Zone rules. We base our calls off what DT techs we get on the play side. 1 and 5 Tech means an duce call with a center cut. 3 tech means a probable ace call with a base by the tackle vs the 5 Tech.
A1: Don't really use the terms covered/uncovered in our zone game. We teach where double teams and overtakes will occur. It is more like our two will take the nearest DL to the nearest LB. #hogfbchat
A1: center will make the 1st combo call and the rest of the line adjusts off that. We don’t step back to combo. We will take near and far steps based on where comboed D-linemen is and who the combo is going to. #hogfbchat
A1) Have in the past..last season HC came up with a gap/zone scheme to help make it easier for kids as we transitioned from wing-t to zone. The order of rules helped our kids communicate and cut down on missed assignments. #hogfbchat
I do not think you can teach any offensive scheme unless your kids have a solid understanding of covered and uncovered and how it applies to Offensive football overall. JMHO #hogfbchat
A1: Yes. Focus on zone as area from PS shoulder to crotch of next over. Covered = He's yours. Uncovered = BS arm & drive DL to LB. No need to run/chase. He'll fill/flow to you. But keep eye discipline. #hogfbchat
A1: Have used covered/uncovered rules frontside. When we have stuck to it it works! Sometimes we get conflicted with trying to run true zone and a mix of systems (pin/pull and number system). Offseason notes have lots of #simplify#simplify written down. #hogfbchat
A1: @CoachLA73 nailed it - all aspects. Teaching area early on in camp allows me to focus on technique & communication. I try to never say "that's your dude" b4 the snap -- Teaches guys to chase and kills u when stunting. #hogfbchat
A1: it is “you two for those two”. If one guy is a war daddy and can double both guys by himself while other OL eats a sandwich, so be it. Just make sure get hip to hip and take half the man. #hogfbchat
A2: We’ve fine both, but usually keep it simple. “Zoom, zoom, zoom” while pointing out the combo men. Also, “Me you, Me you” while pointing as well. Could be zone or power. You don’t know! #hogfbchat
A2: I usually let them come up with the names. They remember them better and they’re usually more funny and creative. They have fun w it and do a great job w it #hogfbchat
A2: have used very specific calls and used basic help calls. Both have their place, both work. Help calls started by the center seem to be the easiest. #hogfbchat
Yes we just call it on/off or on/outside. If they have a guy in then then he stays on unless he gets replaced by other OL. If he has off defender steps playside then works up. #hogfbchat
A2: Had same terminology as far as blocks go. We let the OL come up with the nicknames for those blocks when calling them out on the line year to year #hogfbchat
A2: have done Ace, Deuce, Trey frontside. Have players come up with checks. Teaching different double team tech for gap scheme DTs this year. Not sure if keep names he same or not. #hogfbchat
A2) With every call we have a “base” way of calling but if kids want to rename, have fun with and can execute then by all means we let them take ownership of it. #hogfbchat
A2 we start with a set terminology and as the kids get comfortable they morph it into their own language. I don’t care what they use as long as the understand the scheme and are comfortable
A1: I don’t use traditional covered/uncovered rules. We understand our tracks... and use the concept of color/no color in playside gaps to create double teams when possible. #hogfbchat
A2- I try my best to let them develop the call tags. Gives them ownership, shows creativity and understanding.
Plus some of the things they come up with are funny as hell #hogfbchat
A2: I’m a fan of letting the kids create the vocabulary. They’re creative and I think it gives them ownership. Plus if they create the calls, they’re more likely to remember them. #hogfbchat
A2: I have names that I made up but I always allow them the flexibility to create their own. They own the result so let them own the communication.
#hogfbchat
A2) If kids name things, they remember things. I name things, I remember things and kids feel like they’re taking a vocab test. We have kids understand and then name..by week 4/5 I am usually asking kids what they’re saying. #hogfbchat
When focusing on double instead of true 45degree angle path for zone. We used wham/scoop/scrape wham as the initial contact man. Scooper would bump the wham to scrape second level. Focused on lots of me me me you you you echo talk while executing the wham scoop scrape #hogfbchat
A2: I try to get them to come up with the calls themselves (with suggestions of course) because they’ll a) remember it and b) own it because it’s “theirs” #hogfbchat
A2. We let the kids come up with calls when I coached OL. That way they were on the same page. I did stress that I wanted to hear them communicated loud and clear in practice though. #hogfbchat
A2-Yes we specific terminology so all linemen understand the importance. I let them have say on other “not so important” aspects. We keep it simple, understanding on learning styles and levels of our players. #hogfbchat
A2. Our calls are Congo Tango- you can use your imagination and figure it out. Our O-line coach came up with it (most likely stolen) kids must communicate if conflicting to what they see. #hogfbchat
A2: we usually let them come up with them. There are some that we tell them but for the most part they come up with it. If the kids come up with the word then they usually remember it better. #hogfbchat
A2: In college we used different calls for different gaps, ace, buck, etc. Now, imo easier for kids to simplify and communicate when we have 1-2 calls for the action, rather than the gap. Shows understanding of the concept to know when to use them. #hogfbchat
A2: starts teaching universally as set calls. As long as they are comfortable and know what they are doing I don’t care if they call them peanut butter and jelly. #hogfbchat
A2: as a HUNH team, we intentionally limit verbage & vocab to keep focus on explosive exeution, not thoughtful consideration. Having said that, always encourage guys to communicate at the LOS/or of attack. #hogfbchat
A2: Have specific names for each combo. Not sure how my OL & coaches came up w/ them. Don't really care, as long as they know what they are doing. lol
My OL coaches do a great job of being creative with terminology.
#Hogfbchat
Got it from two my coaches in college. Talked about making a pizza with your arms and you have that zone along with the Run plays aiming point so you know where your combo is. I would start this with Install day one. Gives the guys a visual representation. #hogfbchat
We don’t use much terminology just preach communication during the week and go over all the different things the defense will throw at us and trust the kids to talk and figure it out. #hogfbchat
A2) very similar to @CoachRmcD60 ‘s answer. Have a set base terminology, and kids morph and have variations as they get experience. Also will ask for their input for new calls #hogfbchat
@CoachDingus@CoachShiffman A2: we do not make a bunch of calls. Guys know the rules, stay on down guys as long as we can, make backers make wrong decision. #hogfbchat
A2: When we installed our whip route for a two point play the kids wanted this as the signal. Keeps things fun, and easy for kids to remember. #hogfbchat
A2. Cont. I am okay with guys coming up to the line and pointing to who their combo is. If we do it right the DT won’t split it even if he knows he’s being doubled, and we will put him in an LB’s lap. #hogfbchat
A2: I have one term for zone doubles and one term for gap doubles. I use that to teach it and talk about it. It’s also the name of our drill work for each. For in game calls they can call it anything they want to talk to each other #hogfbchat
A2: No formal names where they're called every time we run it. The calls we do use normally tell us the we have a man in our gap or we have to push out a man. #hogfbchat
A2: Our OL has developed all our calls over the years - Double Team Calls from our Veer attack - Kill - Center & PSG / BK - PSG & PST / Truck - PST & TE. If they make them then they will know them and our kids pass down the history of why the call is what it is. #hogfbchat
A2: past season, had lots of seniors so I trusted them in making their own calls. Got young pups this season so I will tell them what the calls/words are #hogfbchat
Haha, we get creative with all the calls! Most of ours revolved around food. Part of the fun of being an OL coach and player. Creating calls and dummy calls. #hogfbchat
A2: We have general nomenclature BUt I let them work together in their comms. As long as it's happening, I'm good with it. My requirement is communication. Come to the film room Monday with a missed assignment due to no comms, see me after practice ⚒️🐗⚒️ #hogfbchat
A2: I’ve never been big into having specific calls. I don’t care if they say, “hey we got 92 and 21.” What’s important is they communicate. Get it DONE! #hogfbchat
A2(add on): i have found that if they come up with a call. When you refer to that block you should is that call. so instead of saying “hey you have a pin n pull here” “I’ll say “you’re a poker here” I do this not only for them but for me to know when they make calls #hogfbchat
A2 (con’t): on the field in college we’d just say each other’s names and we knew *exactly* what that meant. That takes trust but then that’s the whole point. #hogfbchat
A2: Depends on how long the unit has been playing together we start off with base zone calls “you” “me” calls, solo, tag then i let the guys get creative have fun with it #hogfbchat
Yes that is correct. So if the DL is in a backside shade on you can help more on the backside while looking playside. When the LB triggers you combo off. #hogfbchat
A3. Hands in, thumbs up, get ahold of the chest plate, and put your screws right under their chinstrap. Keep the base until you get him running. Extend and take him where he wants to go, but keep him as vertical as possible. #HOGFBCHAT
A3: low pad level, get on him, move your feet and block through him until the whistle blows. Face in the numbers, pop your hands, and be fearless #hogfbchat
A3: outside hand free, eyes on second level, look at next DL knee first, high inside knee, run your feet and hips low. Drive til forced off. #hogfbchat
A3: best your player to the point of attack, run your feet on contact, inside leverage. Don’t get beat across your face. And all of my players will tell you I yell “vertical movement” a lot. Displacement of the LOS is always a good thing. #hogfbchat
A3: “Bouncer” Push the first level out, 2 hands on the man, 4 eyes on the second level. Until they declare. Once he’s within arm reach, someone over take the primary block, next guy take over the second level guy. Ankle to ankle, knee to knee, hip to hip. #hogfbchat
A3: gain ground with first step, work vertical, get inside hand on backside number and work head to playside of helmet to “take a bite” or defender #hogfbchat
A3 Cov guy is trying to get OS hand to outside number IS hand to middle of IS number stay square and drive he is the 2 hand punch and uncov is 1 hand punch if cov man knifes uncov becomes 2 hand punch #hogfbchat
A3- hands inside, punch up with thumbs up fingers out. Try and push shoulder pads into throat. Take DL where they want to go twice as fast as they want to get there. Once he declares...punch near hip and run. #hogfbchat
A3. Have to go to my Line Coach on this one. You're speaking a little too much ham to a retired glory boy. We are big on steps and hand placement (leverage). Also need our boys eating and lifting like crazy all the time. #hogfbchat
A3-Can’t cross your face, hands attacking low to high and based on the play/direction will dictate the footwork and hand placement. In zone blocking you don’t have to destroy the DL, you need to be able to allow the back to make your right. #hogfbchat
A3: shoulders/hips stay square, attack the “v’s”... the V of the jersey and the ^ of the playside arm. If DL fights across the block you’re still in position. If he goes away the uncovered should pick him up #hogfbchat
A3: After telling them to fit the hands on the shoulder pad chestplate, I tell them what my pops always told me, stay low and keep your feet moving. #hogfbchat
A3: we fit up, run our feet and make sure we stay vertical push. I am curious does anyone teach the thumbs out when you lock up to have more of a punch?? #hogfbchat
A3: Hit. Stick. Drive. Make sure your I can’t see your elbows from the back and maintain proper hip leverage. “You stear the car with you hands, but you DRIVE it with your feet” #hogfbchat
A3) Hands/Strikepoint, maintain leverage/good base without getting overextended , get him moving to displace him and don't get beat across your face #HOGFBCHAT
@CoachDingus@CoachShiffman A3: covered guy will engage sooner, have shortened zone step w/o giving ground. We want to maximize surface area on defender, have violent hands, and RUN FEET! #hogfbchat
A3: I like everyone except the PST to aim to be head up, facemask to chest, between 2nd/3rd step. From fit position we will fight to get downhill square and drive right down the middle of the defender... he moves laterally i move laterally to stay engaged. #hogfbchat
A3: PS knee to crotch, PS hand grab that chest plate on PS number, keep the steps short and in the ground with athletic positioning and don’t stop moving until the echo of the whistle #hogfbchat
A3: We're out No Inside Zone we are Inside Veer we are going to beat the liv'n tar out of first guy we can find in a DL stance from Centers Head to playside called. 2 on 1 had better win every day of the week #NormandyGetOffTheBeach#hogfbchat
A3: Goal is two steps in the ground before contact. 1st step at an angle to cover PS half of target. 2nd step must go upfield, ideally split crotch of defender. Deliver a blow. From inside number to playside number. Hands above hat. Take the space away. #hogfbchat
A3) We are Wing t based and are a gap scheme so hopefully not executing too many drive blocks. If we did- get eyes to defender pit where RB is going & punch hands through pec we are aiming for (get your hat between you and RB) #hogfbchat
A3: ideal: knee to crotch, win with inside hands and finish on their side of the LOS
Realistic: (playside) stay on your tracks and displace the LOS. (Backside) circle the defense to allow for a potential cutback #hogfbchat
A3- 6in step at the crouch, stay low, shoot hands at the breast plate, thumbs up, drive with helmet under the chin of the defender, don’t stop till the whistle blows or you put him to the sidelines. #hogfbchat
A3) In a mixed zone/gap scheme, we teach a common fit and teach kids to finish blocks the same no matter the situation. 5 points of contact from an athletic position practiced more than anything else we do throughout the week. #hogfbchat
A3: 4 hands on down man and 4 eyes on backer. Stay on until pushed and I teach them to be vocal during the play. They should get a visual cue from the LB, a physical cue from their partner, and a vocal cue also from their partner #hogfbchat
A3: Come off the ball proper two steps, elbows in rub ribs to jeep hands inside(But do Not Cock) strike fat part of the hand roll hips maintain proper base short powerful fast steps then get the syrup ready! #hogfbchat
A3:
1) Aiming point of the DL setting to shade
2) Violent strike with hands striking on the rise to elevate the center of gravity.
3) 4 point of contact 2 hands 2 eyes at the numbers of the DL. Feed the DL the screws on your helmet. #hogfbchat
A3: HAVE to get two steps into the ground first. Gain ground on that first step, second step is for balance and power. Covered guy aiming point is to put his nose on P.S. number of defender. Trying to “bang” his teammate P.S. off of the double team so he can climb #hogfbchat
Had a Gd a few yrs back (now playing college), who was cocky kid, always smiling and borderline dirty (loved that)...points at a 1T and yells at the C “we better be doubling THAT BIG S.O.B. RIGHT THERE!” I could hear him in the box lol #hogfbchat
A3 Gain ground first step. Work second step vertical. Hands inside (armpits) with thumbs up (elbows should "disappear" when looking from behind) Lock out. Get head to playside number to cover defender, I like to give the RB a two-way go. #hogfbchat
A3: Split the D Dude in half - i.e. attack playside pec and GET VERTICAL PUSH. All the technique - hips/hands firing together, proper hand strikept (ctr punch w/trailing hand), facemask in armpit, etc, etc, don't cut it alone - we're need push. ⚒️🐗⚒️ #hogfbchat
A1 No. You have a gap, if there is a threat in your gap than that is your first target, if he disappears stay on track and look for who is replacing him. The only exception is backside tackle who will man up DE if B-Gap isnt threatened. #hogfbchat
A3) Step with playside football but angle can change depending on tighter or looser alignment. Keep shoulders square looking to get playside knee down defenders crotch to maintain slight inside leverage. Put force through the ground by driving off inside of the foot #hogfbchat
Sorry I'm late to the party! A3 first step puts you in position. Want the aiming point to be the play side number of the defender. Hands in tight, strike with the thumbs up. Drive your feet through contact. Low pad level and explode through hips #hogfbchat
Q3: run off the ball thru your angle. Aiming point-playside #. Footwork- set angle and lead 2nd thru inside foot of defender. Tight hands and elbows. Drive feet thru ground, strain, finish him away/thru read spot #hogfbchat
A3: admittedly I watched a ton of Coach Jim McNally and am changing it up this year. Teaching the OL to play long with thumbs up, Good sumo base, Big steps are bad, etc. #hogfbchat
A3: Usually vs an OS tech. I want him to keep this leverage and not get beat across his face. Beat him off the ball, get inside leverage, drive him how you have been taught to drive block. Or pretty much what @FISTFootball said. #hogfbchat
A4: You are the TOUCHDOWN BLOCK! That safety, corner, LB has no idea that you are there to earhole him on a cutback! Get on your horse and get downfield and I mean NOW!! #hogfbchat
Just an observation- do you guys emphasis fit, strike or punch w/ hands? I took punch hands through defender’s chest from Mike Bloomberg when he was at Stanford. Now HC at Rice. For you Texas guys he is a must visit for OL junkies. #hogfbchat
A4: take your angle, if someone shows play side, they’re yours. BST works up to Will backer. Don’t get beat across your face. Inside leverage, run feet, beat them to the point of attack, but be patient. #hogfbchat
Q4) Since we are a heavy zone read team, out Backside is often more important than the front. Their communication on who we’re reading is essential to the play. They need to ID and get on tracks #Hogfbchat
A4 if able throw OS hand to IS armpit of defender working your angle if his hip goes away you climb if he knifes you become 2 hand punch man #hogfbchat
A4. Work across the body to get your far shoulder to the defenders far shoulder. I teach rip and run for this if we don’t have help from a double team. #hogfbchat
A2 I think all coaches have their own terms/calls. I'm a fan of introducing what i call it, then letting the kids either call it that or come up with their own. #hogfbchat
Drive off inside foot catch at width that puts your eyes even with inside breast plate. Playside hand strikes defender's midline backside hand contacts inside arm. Second step works upfield at angle to widen hole. #hogfbchat
Sprint down to overtake. Get that far arm in front of the def and then gear down to cut off the pursuit. If you can truly overtake, great, but if you hustle and just get in their way, that can work too. #hogfbchat
Understand who we are and are not blocking. NEVER cut on IZ. OZ cutting backside is good. Vertical movement and sticking to our man is important for cutbacks #hogfbchat
A4-I tell them they have arguably the most important block. First level importance and getting up field and covering. Like I said earlier in Q1, backside is often the TD block read by the back. NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PLAY! #hogfbchat
A4: Stay on your track and cut em off or climb. After 3 steps, if no one has shown first level, climb to the second and fit up. Don’t chase a lost block, but be in a hurry like your butt was on fire! #hogfbchat
A4: create that back door. Circle the defense (wagons) whatever sticks for our kids on a year to year basis. If you can split the defense, it creates opportunities #hogfbchat
A4. Emphasis on the backside tackle to get moving to the backside inside LB. On our IZ we read backside end. On OZ, we emphasize the 1 to block 2 importance. Stab the 5 on your way to go cut the inside backer. If he has a 4i, chop him down. #HOGFBCHAT
A4: tell BSG not to get beat across face, and BST he runs the “stovepipe” to the safety (picked up from Chuck Apap at a Glazier clinic years ago) #hogfbchat
A4 absolutely do not let a defender cross your face. Would like to have the same aiming point of the play side number of the defender. Prefer uncovered man to get to the second level and cut off a backer if possible. #hogfbchat
A4- It all depends on how active of a player the backside defender is if he’s lazy we just rip inside of him and go straight to the backer. If he’s an active player we will hinge with the backside take. #hogfbchat
A4: really stress to fight to stay head up... this keeps them working laterally when defender fights what they perceive as reach and gets horizontal movement for cutback #hogfbchat
A1: used covered/uncovered before but last year as OL coach used playside “sidewalks” as landmarks. Guy on your sidewalk move him. We lateral step until color on sidewalk then worked vertical. #hogfbchat
A4) This is something I’ve seen done both ways and would like some feedback. In 11 personnel w/ backside NG & playside 3 to TE, would you prefer C/BSG dbl team the NG & PSG/PST dbl the 3 or BSG takes NG by himself & C works playside to hell PSG with any slant inside? #hogfbchat
A4: Get the backside cutoff either by basing, cutting off, or sifting up to the LB if the DL try’s to cross face we want to wash the DL and pin him inside. It will vary based on our various ways of running the play. #hogfbchat
A4: I’ve been reading a lot about the OL checking the near knee of the defender. If it’s going away then climb to next level. If it’s coming towards then base block #hogfbchat
A3 CP is hands to chest, Head to POA (PS Shoulder). Biggest thing though is keep feet moving and just move the man, he doesnt have to go back, as long as you are moving the man, the RB will make you right. #hogfbchat
Coaches - keep your fellow coaches and teachers here in Oklahoma in your prayers as we are fighting in the "trenches" for better funding for our students. #hogfbchat
A4: Again we are NOT a Zone team, but I would think backside is similar for us a Veer Team no inside penetration period - get your inside leg and upper body in that inside gap at snap, do not get up field too soon cuz they come off your back. #hogfbchat
A4: Maximizing dble teams “Thick or Thin” techniques for your back side guard and tackle are crucial, most important block any zone scheme is backside cutoff because weakside LBs have best opportunity to disrupt the play. #hogfbchat
A4: We try very hard to finish between the ball and b/s defenders. If we can't, we just get on the b/s hip or shoulder and run them by. It allows for the running back to make the OL right, which makes zone more effective. #hogfbchat
A4: we have gone to using outside zone technique often on the backside. Okay to lose ground initially but ultimately must work toward head on playside hip of defender. Keep. Gaining. Ground. Get them moving. #hogfbchat
A4: Gd dbl or rip to 4th man in count (could be NT or LB). T sift to b gap threat. Only change on OZ is T is HARD into B and climbs fast on a sprint to the FS (track) if no DL in the gap. #hogfbchat
Aiming point changes slightly from playside number to playside shoulder. Do not get beat across your face. If you can throw on them the better. When climbing to 2nd level, if you cannot get your head across then run the LB past the pile! #hogfbchat
Think it depends on the dudes you got and the dudes they got! But generally speaking i think you have to handle the nose. Feel like this is a better angle for all parties (including back) #HOGFBCHAT
A4) Best stuff I've ever learned is HC Jay Long's stuff from @CSCFootball using very aggressive backside blocking techniques trying to run through d-line rather than block them. The more aggressive and harder the better. Move LOS and zone wins 100% of time. #hogfbchat
A4: Get to where they are going not where they are, angle is everything, when you get there maintain your leverage advantage. If you can’t cut them off then drive them into the Gatorade table. #hogfbchat
A4 BST vs no B-gap defender is sifting the B-Gap looking for plugging WLB or Safety. BST vs 3 Tech is following Zone rules and is just looking to move the man. Vs WLB aligned in B-Gap he is through blocking and trying to screen/get a piece of the WLB. #hogfbchat

A4: Secure LoS 1st, nothing crosses your face pain free! On release, be fast, be smart - take GREAT angle, and get in someone's way! Don't be a Kenyan! (run 40 yds downfield) and don't go for the killshot block - leads to to many misses. #hogfbchat
Another great Monday night with the greatest group of people on Twitter! Thanks as always for all the ideas and stories! Hope everyone has a great week, and for those of you in Oklahoma, keep fighting the good fight! #hogfbchat
A4: Take your playside shoulder away from the D-Linemen and work through to the second level. Unless he's just a dude he won't make that play. #hogfbchat
A4. Coach backside combos exactly the same as playside. Same level of importance. We try to make the play hit playside but backside combos get you to third level. #hogfbchat

A4: IZ- Cutting down splits and skip FW to stay square and get depth. OZ- Aiming 2 gaps playside, instead of at defender. Go to where he is going to be, not where he is at. #hogfbchat
IMO I think if you soft focus your eyes on the 2nd level guy you can still c if the 1st level guy stays or goes inside. Disciplined eye focus and verbal comm with the guy your working with makes more sense to me. Keep your vision on the block side space #hogfbchat
We would have the PSG take the 3 tech by himself. RB would read off that block. Ideally PSG could keep him in the B gap and Rb would run A gap. The C/BSG would combo the 1 tech/NG. #hogfbchat
