#txeduchat Hello, Kimberly! Books were always my very favorite gifts...though I remember being excited about a small, scented Strawberry Shortcake doll once.
#txeduchat Yes...to all these things. Thankful that my husband supported my expenditures on students: supplies, food, clothes. But, there never were enough pencils! (They disappear around 7th graders.)
A2: I love tissues and pens! And students have surprised me with extraordinary gifts, like replacing a Zenergy chime that had been broken or buying a new birdfeeder for the classroom #txeduchat
#txeduchat Aren’t those thoughtful gifts special? One time for me, it was a cold Diet Coke delivered by an angsty 13-year-old girl the day after she cursed at me in class. Surprised that she knew what I drank and touched that she brought it to me before class.

A2–notes from S’s thanking you, homemade bread/cookies, seeing S’s out in town after they have graduated and them being happy to see me. Went to restaurant the other night and saw a tableful of former students, it was awesome to hear how they were doing. #TXEduchat
#txeduchat That is very rewarding! When I see my former students as adults, I always get choked up. The vulnerable teens all grown up make me so proud.

A2 Top three gifts received... 1. A First Alert fire resistant box... 2. two fabric covered hangers (gave to my bride), 3. Lots of Milky Way bars. #txeduchat
A4. Lately our family participates in 6Stones Night of Hope and CPR Blitzes. Love helping the families in need and seeing huge smiles on their faces! #txeduchat
#txeduchat A4: https://t.co/SbLMg23oRG My Dad is a rancher, so when my kids were young, he would give this in their names and then tell them about animals and helping others.
A6. Model for them. It's how you react when you receive something from them..or maybe how you ask someone that received something how it makes them feel. The magic is in the conversation after each of those situations I think. #txeduchat
#txeduchat A6: That awkward time after a holiday break when some kids got everything and some kids got nothing was tough. But, it was a great time to start a “pay it forward” project and talk about how giving to others makes us feel.
