A1: We have a lot of really cool new opportunities or our students, including PBL classes, online curriculums, and something I’m personally excited about is that I have a great team of teachers to guide me through my first year of teaching middle school! #MEMSPAchat
#MEMSPAchat I am proud of the growth mindset that both the facilitators and students of the TBJH PBL classes have shown. It's been a remarkable rise thus far.
A1: One thing I'm proud of is how well our WatchDOGS program is going. We consistently have "Dads" in the building and it's been a huge success! It takes, staff and community support. We are blessed! :) #MEMSPAchat

Hey everyone I am Syndee checking in from a hotel in Kalamazoo… Can’t wait to meet with SWMI tomorrow at Sunset elementary! And spending the afternoon with @Dr_Maring#cantwait#MEMSPAchat

A2: Taking time to talk about what is going on in their lives and not always focusing on school business. Supporting community events as well! #MEMSPAchat
Q2: I always tried to remember the names of Ts family members and the types of things they did as families...A sincere interest in people warms the heart! #MEMSPAchat
A2: As an aspiring administrator at my school, I'd like to have more one-on-one meetings with different grade level areas, asking what I can do for them, what they need from me. #EDU5720@JMcCarthyEdS#MEMSPAchat
Generally, I connect with my coworkers and admin by taking the time to learn something about them and ask them about it from time to time. This shows them that you listen and care about them beyond the work-related communication. #MEMSPAchat
A2: I seek staff out to connect. I ask their opinions on things. I seek their vision for what they want to see happen. I try to involve them in helping shape how I see things. We are a team. I may be a leader, but without the team, I can't do anything. #MEMSPAchat
A2: Small thing - I enjoy when I get the opportunity to hang in the staff lounge at lunch connecting and laughing. Big thing - I host a end of the year staff family party at my home...bounce houses, karaoke, kayaks, paddle boats #memspachat

A2: A start is by having them voluntarily fill out a “what I need from you professionally” “what I need from you personally” sheet. I have found that more introverted staff members appreciate this. #MEMSPAchat
A2 - Hi @benjamingilpin, I have shared this on #MEMSPAchat on a previous night. I like to walk the building every morning to greet everyone before school. It typically results in several opportunities for friendly and personal connections.
Question 3:
Research says,Seasonal Affective Disorder or Winter Depression is real. Knowing this, what do you do to keep moral up during the dog days of winter?
#MEMSPAchat
Listening to their needs, invest your time into helping them succeed and give them opportunities to lead and have a voice. Again, just listening to them whether it’s work related or personal has been the most important goal for me! #MEMSPAchat
Joining late from Mona Shores MS - hoops practice ran late.

#memspachat
Question 3:
Research says,Seasonal Affective Disorder or Winter Depression is real. Knowing this, what do you do to keep moral up during the dog days of winter?

Research says,Seasonal Affective Disorder or Winter Depression is real. Knowing this, what do you do to keep moral up during the dog days of winter?
#MEMSPAchat
A3: Well, last week when everyone was stressing about finishing the NWEA testing with all the snow days, I might have taken my phone to play Bobby McFerin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy" over the PA system. My (lack of) vocal talent might have been heard in the background. #MEMSPAchat

A3: Time to express gratitude every day, deliberately seek out funny people, read and listen to uplifting stories! And a little Bigelow Lemon Ginger tea self-care! #memspachat

A5: We do "Bucketfiller of the month" from every staff member in the school - so about 35 kids a month are honored for being kind and caring. The kids love being honored and new this year we do a school wide assembly so all kids are aware of the amazing behaviors #memspachat
A5: ONE - our 7th grade team has doughnuts/juice one a month for 15-20 students that are meeting and exceeding expectations (character and PRIDE). TWO - we go into classrooms every week, stop class, and recognize a teacher or student w/coffee or tee shirt.

A7: Adaptive Schools has been a game changer. The inclusion activities generally bring a laugh, a lightness and a connection to the group!
Oh and food, food is always a great idea!! :) #MEMSPAchat
A7: have humor. But last year had teachers write any question they wanted answered on an envelope. On index cards other teachers had opportunity to write suggestions. It was a lot of fun and personal. #MEMSPAchat
I have to ditto this one! I can’t say enough good things about my awesome staff! This week alone they stayed after to paint bathrooms for our kids and transform our school into a Hawaiian paradise all for our students! #mortonchat#MEMSPAchat
A6: Teachers give so much of themselves in my building--always doing what is best for our students. I can never do enough to thank them, but I try to support them with notes and tokens of appreciation. I also shout to the world how truly amazing they are. #MEMSPAchat
A7: Step out of your comfort cocoon and try new team-building things, like the Potato Launch or some of the other Faculty Frolics we shared here:

A7: Insist that staff meetings are intentional and purposeful. Easier said then done, I agree. However, make sure to email what simply needs "shared" and engage in professional dialogue what improves our craft and makes us better educators. #memspachat
A7: Our new “Game Ball” award is an opportunity for teachers to recognize other teachers and celebrate the positive impact they have on our school community. #MEMSPAchat
A4: @MEMSPAchat I am fortunate to train, collaborate and learn with the amazing, like-minded, Maslow loving @JonLeFevreSISD! He brings so much energy and experience to our PD! #MEMSPAchat
A7: Haven’t lead a staff meeting, but I’ve lead PD sessions. I’m a laid back kind of guy, so keeping the mood relaxed, including humor (kind of part of that whole person thing we were taking about in the last question), and keeping it short, sweet, and to the point. #MEMSPAchat
A7: We have "hosts" that bring snacks and a "Staff Spotlight" where one staff member shares something that they're proud of that they've implemented in their classroom. I've also promised to leave "housekeeping" information to emails to show that I value their time. #MEMSPAchat
A7: So important to model best practices any time we have with staff. If it doesn't require collaboration, communicate it at another time. The most intelligent person in the room is the room...engage, empower, collaborate and build relationships every chance we have. #MEMSPAchat
Question 7
Let's focus on taking this positivity to our Staff Meetings. What is one way we can improve the mood at Staff Meetings? What have you done or experienced that caused you to feel joy?
