A3. One suggestion we frequently give is to have our student (middle school) read to any of the younger relatives. We've also had parents that are learning English as well, read books with their child. #ellchat
#ellchat A3) Invite them to the local public library so they can see the resources. Share with them the importance of reading during the summer (all the time).

A3) I have 3 children who are all learning to read in their L2. It is a challenge to keep reading material around that they are compelled to read. But we are always working on it bc I agree 100% that it is super important. #ellchat
A3) One ESL teacher I know took a group of kindergarten ELLs & some of their parents to Barnes & Noble for a story hour. She showed parents how to choose books for ELLs. #ELLCHAT
How cool would it be if during the school year you could record students doing read alouds, too. A combo of student & teacher read alouds could be featured over the summer. #ELLChat

A3) So true, Judie! We can also enlist the help of volunteers for this. We have PTA who are looking to help new arrival families. They can organize events that show other parents resources and also schedule library meet ups. #ellchat
