One big question today .... Q) What are the biggest roadblocks online students face? What's stopping them from graduating?

This is exactly what came out of a recent student survey I was involved with - challenges related to

I think there are academic issues, too, but it's the non-academic stuff that seems to bring things to a halt - money, time mgmt...

May be counseling a S today about this. Ss online often are transfers. They accumulate hours, no degree, cost

Reply: yes, money. The demand for immediate income drives Ss to part-time work that influences time mng.

Yes! Transfer credits. They can start to mount quickly, and then not count, if you move around, unsure of goals.

A vicious cycle of sorts, unfortunately.

Agree. Too many credits not applicable to degree requirements. All credits deplete funds and aid eligibility.

Sometimes a gap in student understanding - credits may be accepted, but as "electives" not needed courses.

Another roadblock identified in recent study - access to Internet, acquiring needed technology (laptop, etc.). Anyone seeing this?

Advising early and often is required for Ss. Having credits accumulate must be understood in light of degree requirements, yes.

Yes, accessibility is an issue. More Ss rely on mobile devices due to connectivity and hardware problems.

Not sure we're doing enough on the support and teaching sides to identify this one. At least not quickly.

May need to have Ss do connectivity and system check to determine if they have access when needed. Good point.
