A1: There are years when some of my biggest concerns are the students health concerns, so I am right there with ya.

A2: Yes, I have. Asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes. Nut allergies have been the hardest to handle to keep my classroom 'nut free'.

A3 meet with the parents and school nurse before school starts to go over health care plan and allergens to avoid in classroom.

A3 also make sure all student's parents are aware of allergies so they do not bring treats or food items to the classroom.

A3 Yep, but often parents still bring in food with traces of nuts. Halloween day is the worst with all the candy in the room.

A4: My nurse taught me about diabetes. She set up a mtg. with me and the mom her son. We went over a plan we stayed in contact.

A3: if a parent of the student with the allergy is available to be a helper on those party days, that can be very helpful.

A4: all staff should be trained every year on diabetes, asthma, anaphylaxis, and seizures. Like CPR, you need a refresher
