#ALedchat Archive
#ALedchat is a weekly chat on Twitter about education topics. It is held each Monday from 9-10pmCST. While the discussion on #ALedchat continues on Twitter well beyond our weekly one-hour chat session, this platform affords us the opportunity to extend, expand and share the conversation with an even greater audience. Educators from across the state of Alabama, and the world, can come here to find encouragement, support, resources, professional growth opportunities and advice, while providing the same to their colleagues.

I agree! Retention is related to celebrating Ts success and growth as well.
Saban wants 5 star athletes, we want 5 star teachers!
Yes! War Eagle and student ownership is so important!
A2 Set the vision and make it plain with winnable, doable steps

A2: regardless level of S our process includes relationship, instruction & intervention. Interven & relation support instruction
A2: Continue to model risk-taking, failing forward, & perseverance. They are process-oriented that lead to great results.
A2 Have to get to know Ss. Know where they were, are, and are going. Respect their pace and prod when needed.
A2: The process of students succeeding says a lot about how hard the adults continually review their practices.
A2 First we must create a safe culture where relationships are created. Without relationships, there is no trust. Our focus.
A2: C3B4Me…this is a great process for the PBL classroom as the teacher facilitates learning. 20/60/10.
a2) quoting another legend coach, lead them to "Believe deep down inside you are destined to do great things." JoePa.

A2 SS need to persist and have grit to overcome failures- understand that failure isn't a bad thing!! Learn how to learn!
A1: I teach 1st, so I see success when I see Ss faces light up with pride in themselves, when they are eager to learn & want more!
A3: That's the tricky part. Someone times the results can't be measured for many years (success in life).
A3: we started using engagement frackers for students who struggle. Idea is when engaged in great instruction learning happens
A3: FA. I love open discussion after a unit and the FA allows me to redirect any misunderstanding
Issue for me is... what about the things that get done that can't be measured? Like instilling a love of reading?
A3: Make the standards visible to the Ss & and let the data convince them they are moving. Leaders of their Own Learning
The data doesn't matter unless you use it.

A3: measure success in how my Ss view accountability& responsibility toward their academics.success generally take proactive role.
A3 - Measuring Ss to standards & baseline data. Continually monitoring data to understand where Ss & where they're headed!
A2: If u make them feel like they matter, even the smallest of ways, they will want 2 B better at the process u have put in place.
A3: Setting goals with Ss based on assessments is key to know Ss know. Placing in the hands of the students can prove positive.
A3: Knowing your students allows you at assess on a micro level (form) all the time and a macro level when needed (Sum).
Ss having ownership in their goals becomes more about completing it for themselves instead of for the T. https://t.co/ciA89Fypbz
A3: Setting goals with Ss based on assessments is key to know Ss know. Placing in the hands of the students can prove positive.

You catch more flies with sugar than vinegar! :)
A3: Having data notebooks for students to see progress toward all goals- not just academic
This is why you are one of my Twitter Heroes! BOOM!!! https://t.co/SHVocFN4e1
Issue for me is... what about the things that get done that can't be measured? Like instilling a love of reading?
Agreed who can measure the heart? https://t.co/OGpTX6BmiI
Issue for me is... what about the things that get done that can't be measured? Like instilling a love of reading?

Today, I celebrated a small win when a chronic truant came to school. I made a big deal about it!
Agree. Requires attention to individualizing learning experiences for our Ss and being sure to vary assessment approaches
Before moving to P, I was T at LIM school for 6 years. Lighthouse School, AMAZING!
FA: Once again it is about relationships. We have to know our Ss to be able to teach them. They will learn from those they love!
FA: Success doesn't fall in one's lap. It must be sought. Set goals. Persevere. Support those on the path.
That is success to me all day. Every microstep every day is a win https://t.co/D8Yt9jzMHD

FA:) Keep promoting passion, energy and rigor that I witnessed last month. We set the tone.
it's a place for to keep track of all goals, academic, personal, behavior. Ss graph progress and share.
Most definitely, we need to champion our Ss, mentor and inspire, believe in their abilities
we do it with through leader in me, but leaders of their own learning is a great book that has information on it!
I added Growth Mindset last year on top of what we did for years. Students really loved it.
As always I enjoy every minute with you all!!! Off to tuck in kids. Have a great week. Be the best you, you can be.
