Heeeeey, #Ditchbook!! Evan Mosier, Technology Integrationist Lead Teacher and Language Arts teacher from Davenport, IA! My dance moves are mediocre at best.
Dear Barbara...
Alright, I’m Shannon Miller ditching from Republic, MI. I’m a middle and high school English teacher.
I just recorded @ImposterTeacher’s dance moves and know I can’t top that, so here you go:
#DitchBook
Hey, all! Krista, 5th grade teacher from SE Michigan checking in for the #DitchBook chat with the takeover!! Won’t be able to stay long as I’m packing for vacay! Have a great chat!!
A1 I'm a district tech director - I don't get summer's off - lol. I do get some vacation - I use it spend time with my family and read! I will #Ditchbook
A1: Making sure I spend time with my two boys since the school year can be so hectic. Additionally, Twitter!! I like to keep up on reading and immersing myself in tech tools to explore! #Ditchbook
A1 definitely love going down rabbit holes from Twitter & not having to worry about going to bed early. Oh, and a NAP. A nap every day is a must. I also love spending my time making/designing electronically for my online classroom. #ditchbook
Its all over the place. One on makerspaces, one on flipping staff meetings, one on research models and hyperdocs, Ozobot challenges with students….and one on the Power of EDU Twitter Chats. : ) #Ditchbook

A1 I work year round but the summer still is easier to focus on projects since Ss and Ts are not in immediate need of help. Four work related trips also highlight learning! #DitchBook
A2: Anything Geometry!! My fav to teach. So many opportunities for Ss to get creative and explore the concepts. Chances for #makerspaces activites, @SpheroEdu challenges…the list goes on. #Ditchbook
A2 Entrepreneurship hands down. As I sit here watching shark tank there are sooo many lessons in the mix. And so many new jobs to come in the future. Love to get Ss started #DitchBook
A2: I love freedom in my classroom! My students get a lot of choice in the classroom and I feel like that makes them more self-motivated to learn. However this takes a long time to build up to get this point. #ditchbook
A2 The evolution of the computer - and get my hands on a piece of working realia for every step. With dial-up. Why? so they appreciate what they have. #ditchbook
A1: time with kids, sleeping in most days! Not a morning person here! And I always pick a Netflix show to binge watch during nap time!! The rest is lesson planning, reading, conferences & spending too much time in my classroom! #ditchbook
A2- definitely creative writing- so much student choice! And I am a lover of all things NaNoWriMo
They send out K12 classroom sets for free! #DitchBookhttps://t.co/2XtM1fvLlv
A2: Basic life skills for real world application: finances, bills, writing resumes, etc. It may be already being taught, but I would love that. Think of the lessons and tech integration that could be done to engage Ss! #Ditchbook
#ditchbook A2: Actually... my favorite part of this past year was when my students asked me to learn how to dance the salsa and I said yes. Best. Unit. Ever.
A2: Well, I’m designing an online #sketchnoting class this summer, which is something I really wanted to teach. So I guess I’m living the dream! Let freedom ring! Why? It’s a fun way to take notes and I think it might help some kids organize their thoughts. #DitchBook
A2 #ditchbook I’ve taken that freedom every year! I teach Eng so I just make it work! Felt like 9/11 was glossed over so did a whole unit including field trip to see/touch part of the north tower. This year everything will tie to #GlobalGoals#TeachSDGs#ourglobalclassroom
A2: I would teach a community service/kindness unit❤️. I think part of our national problem right now is due to a lack of understanding and grace for each other. We want our kids to be/do better. #DitchBook
A2: Something where students can use tools and build something. Did this last December -- catapults -- and kids couldn't wait to come to class. (Jill from Champaign, joining late.) #ditchbook
A2. I would spend my days developing the instructors in my teaching establishment. Get them to move away from the stand and deliver style that is prevalent. #ditchbook
I can't stay away from #DitchBook tonight ... I may be on vacation, it may be my 15th anniversary ... But Ralph is moderating! I had to at least pop in and say hi ... So hi!

Q3: I would set them off when students read out loud to the class, this is such a huge achievement in first grade. I love when they get the courage and are risk takers. #ditchbook
A3: To celebrate creativity and student achievement! If a student scored well in another class, fireworks. If a student was proud of a creation in my or another class, fireworks! Light em up!!! #Ditchbook
A1 I tend to be a #summerteacher I enjoy the down time to explore. Being out of the classroom, my focus is on tech integration and streamlining what we do. #DitchBook
A3 this is the random question I was waiting for Ralph to throw out! Celebrations of reaching personal goals. Learning about chemicals and how they show a different color when releasing energy. When I play Katy Perry. #DitchBook
A3: Probably when I saw one student teaching another student, bringing a different perspective from what they could get from me or another resource. #ditchbook
A3 whenever students were given a chance to truly be heard and they are confident enough to speak their mind because they know they have truly learned and have an excitement for sharing that learming. #DitchBook
#ditchbook A3: Fireworks for failing Ss who raise grades; set monthly goals and celebrate class achievements; fireworks for all class work submitted on time; for whoever speaks in Spanish the best; and fireworks just for a fun brain break!!
