A1: starts with the staff, all of us! We need to develop a culture where we combine students' passions in life to learning objectives. We need to teach how they learn. #ohedchat
A1 It's different for every student. Some have a passion for academics, some for the arts, some for technology, some for sports, and some are still searching. #ohedchat
At the elementary school I work out, the passion for education is driven by the students desire for knowledge and is supported by the educators implantation of innovative self-explorative strategies. #beverlyvista#ohedchat
A1 It looks like happiness in both Ts and Ss. It looks like determination in both Ts and Ss. It looks like when the Ts put the Ss needs first when planning. #ohedchat
A1) passion means caring for each other as we work through emotionally difficult times. We had a significant tragedy recently, and our community support has been incredible. #ohedchat
A1. Passion starts with the ability to adapt, change, fix any concerning problems. Creating a change in climate with improvements based on what Ss are saying represent passion in ed. #ohedchat
A1 We have studied @ajjuliani@spencerideas Empower & @TrevorMuir Epic Classroom this yr as a faculty and we are looking at empowering our Ss more ea day & making sure within ea classroom is an Epic experience for Ss to want to come back the next day. #ohedchat
A1. Our student's passions are varied and unique. As adults we need to develop the climate where each kid is willing and able to explore their passion. #ohedchat
A1: Teacher passion in my school looks like teachers working together to support students. We are stronger together. This collective efficacy is felt by students and is reflected in our achievement data. #ohedchat
A1 It's different for every student. Some have a passion for academics, some for the arts, some for technology, some for sports, and some are still searching. #ohedchat
A1: Personally, I believe that passion can be expressed through educators by developing meaningful and lasting relationships. "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel." -Maya Angelou
#ohedchat
A1: It's really about having a student connecting their own interests to what they are learning. We are here for the students so we should work to help them develop into their own person with authentic personalities and leadership. #ohedchat
A1: Passion in our school looks like all of the little things our staff does for kids. It looks like a T not giving up on a S. It looks never giving up. It looks happy! #ohedchat
A1: Teacher passion in my school looks like teachers working together to support students. We are stronger together. This collective efficacy is felt by students and is reflected in our achievement data. #ohedchat
A1 Our students seem hungry to learn. They are taught to believe in themselves, take risks, ask for help when stuck, embrace/seek challenges. They encourage each other in learning and in making safe and kind decisions. #ohedchat
A1 - it means "BE" - be whatever someone needs you to be in that very moment. From meeting emotionally needs to engaging the students to the point they can't wait to come back. #ohedchat
A1: Passion in our school looks like all of the little things our staff does for kids. It looks like a T not giving up on a S. It looks never giving up. It looks happy! #ohedchat
Hello #ohedchat Kim-Kindergarten in Iowa A1 Passion is being ready to take on the day, scoop up every opportunity, and ready to invest in others’ interest
A1 Passion in students looks like them being actively engaged with their teachers and each other with the content and skills being presented in their classes. It sounds like them asking and answering key questions designed to grow their learning. #ohedchat
Communication amongst teachers, I believe, is the key in furthering the development of education. Supporting one another results in a collaboration that in turn promotes student passion. Totally agree! #ohedchat
A1 passion looks like active hands making/creating, it feels like joyful learners navigating their own learning journey, it sounds like the buzz backstage before a big performance, #ohedchat
I agree with what you have just said;however, I do not feel like participation is necessarily the key indicator that students are growing. I've seen more introverted students find means of expanding their minds more individually than in the classroom setting. #ohedchat
Like the hungry to learn piece here, Mike. We have a responsibility to spark this hunger and feed it so that our students continue their intrinsic desire to grow #ohedchat
A1: passion looks like excited curiosity...students so eager to learn they will risk failure to just have the opportunity to try and learn content...a heart and mind on fire. #ohedchat
The making/creating component is imperative - allows our Ss to demonstrate their capacity for generating new knowledge from that they have learned #ohedchat
I like the connection to challenge. I agree that I am passionate about things that I am interested in and that challenge me. However, there are some things that challenge me that I'd ignore if I could. #ohedchat
A1: Passion in education for Ss in my school? It is personalized. Ts are responsive & reflective to student voice and choice. Lydia from CWLS...happy to join in. #ohedchat
A1) passion means caring for each other as we work through emotionally difficult times. We had a significant tragedy recently, and our community support has been incredible. #ohedchat
A2: By doing whatever we can to create a learning environment beneficial for staff & students. Sometimes that work isn't fun, but we lead with passion to make our school a better place #ohedchat
A2. Leaders model passion for their work by constantly learning, striving to improve themselves in what they do. It means standing in the face of adversity and remaining committed to our goals and vision. #ohedchat
A2: Our leaders model passion by sharing them. We hear about what they're excited about, we see what they're excited about. Leaders have to be transparent learners. #OHedchat
True point about excited curiosity. We must continue to seek ways to connect our students to the content which will provide fodder for the learning fire #ohedchat

A2. Positive attitude, compassion for staff/Ss, clear vision and expectations, desire to get the best out of every student and staff member daily #ohedchat
A2 They are their schools biggest cheerleaders who don’t mind looking silly from time to time to encourage their teachers and students! They take risks and aren’t afraid to fail with their Ts. @casehighprinc#ohedchat
Try to be ever-present & visible in school, at events & show that we care. Want to show our Ss we care about them as people. Passionate about who they are. Model #RelationshipsFirst for our faculty. #ohedchat
A2) our leaders show passion by being “real.” Laughing, crying, singing, and dancing are all human behaviors. We are not robots. Let kids see the “real” us! #ohedchat
A2: Celebrating our passion for a strong character development based on our school's 7 virtues! We want our students to CHANGE the WORLD! #ohedchat#itsWorthit@SlateHillStars
A2: School leaders model passion by coming to see student performances, asking students questions, being interested in Ss' and Ts' daily work, learning alongside Ss and Ts. #ohedchat
A2: Leaders should model their passion by being and doing. Being there for other when it really counts and doing not only what is asked of them but going above and beyond!
#ohedchat
A1. At @HeritageMS_WCS passion 4 students looks like everyone willing 2 step up, mentor, innovate, care for, dive in, question, accept exceptionalities, team up, try, fail, try again. For all kids. Can't stop. Won't stop. #ohedchat
A2: As an aspiring school leader I hope to model passion by having conversations with everyone in the school. When we speak and share our experiences and our joys of learning we can set Ss and Ts up to catch our passion! #ohedchat
A2 Model passion by being fully present and engaged with students. Talk to them as people. Get excited when they do well. Celebrate with staff when they've overcome an obstacle. Same with students. Family. Community. Ss have to feel that. #ohedchat
A2: passion is giving your all with a smile on your face. I don't always have the answer but will find someone that can help. Passion is not being perfect but doing what is right by your students and staff.
#ohedchat
A2: Share it! Open up about your interests and what you are doing in the classroom. Students love an authentic teacher and to learn more about you. When your passion is visible, everyone is more energized to share their own! #ohedchat
Boy I like this! So true! @willrich45 talks about you can see what is important in a school when you walk through it. Leaders have to remember that and model their passions #ohedchat
A2: By doing whatever we can to create a learning environment beneficial for staff & students. Sometimes that work isn't fun, but we lead with passion to make our school a better place #ohedchat
Point noted. Consequently, we, as passionate educators, must seek strategies to engage our more introverted learners to support their growth while valuing their independent penchant for learning #ohedchat
A2: Practice what we preach. Solid instruction, powerful learning, growth mindset and fail forward. So, be your best you and be passionate about leading others. #buildtrust#ohedchat
A2. Passion in learning is done by creating a learning environment that is fun and involves the Ss interests where they have the freedom to express themselves through ideas, creativity, disc,, inv., tech., etc. #ohedchat
A2: Admin model passion by support and problem solving for teacher and student dreams. Instead of blocking potential they foster growth in a building and offer support to make dreams realities and problem solve failures.I ❤️ my admin @Whitney_Boring@NickNapolitano7#ohedchat

A1: Robin - IL, Principal & AP that know Ss by name since they have developed relationships w/Ss. Walking down the hall, talking about what is important to the Ss. Helping staff see the “big picture.” @KelleyBudd#ohedchat
A2. Get out there where the learning happens every day! Really know the kids and teachers. Build relationships and trust. Listen to the challenges & triumphs. Repeat every day so it's the norm. #ohedchat
No argument there. The goal is to always engage as many students as possible. As a future teacher however, I must ask, for those pupils that are less interactive and more independent, how to you gauge their passion/growth? #ohedchat
A2: Great leadership is driven by passion and this is true of @loriannegreen. She takes action, makes changes and devotes herself to this calling. Passionate leadership is not authoritarian. I aspire to be a passion-driven leader. #ohedchat
A2 School leaders demonstrate passion by sharing the success of their Ts and Ss. - we are always asking the question "How can we do this better?" and consistently collaborate to build our team's capacity to achieve our innovative vision #ohedchat
Agreed! It is so much easier to be brave and chase your passions when you have admins supporting you along the way with words of encouragement and excitement. Felt this today @Mrs_KFisher@ryjunge#OHedchat

1) Passion in eduction means finding life’s passions. Education is life prep. Give students and staff the opportunity to focus on strengths. All great innovators were specialists #ohedchat
A3 invest in each other. Your tribe is there, but if you don’t invest in them you have no idea what each really brings to the table. We have fascinating people (staff/students/families) walking our halls each day! #ohedchat
#ohedchat A3 Geo design class... you have to design a building with various shape rooms, can be any thing you want (dance club, equestrian club, museum...) & add appropriate bling

A3. We had a faculty meeting titled “The Challenge Before Us”. We included all grades PreK-12. All PLCs discussed and reported on how they would help the school meet its goals. I left empowered and motivated. #ohedchat
A3: created a school newspaper to share the amazing things teachers and students do in the building...it creates a buzz of curiosity and excitement in the building. Showing off passion spreads passion. ❤️ #ohedchat
A3 I’ve given Ts support and some autonomy to rediscover their passion for the art of teaching. I deliberately cheer the loudest to keep that forward motion going! #ohedchat@bobby__dodd@casehighprinc
A3: I love incorporating music and dance into learning. It is the absolute best way for them to learn information and retain it. When I worked in a fifth grade after school classroom, we made up a song that had simple hand movements for all state and capitals. #ohedchat
Collective teacher efficacy - We believe that collectively, we can help our students achieve at the highest levels. Our teachers are passionate working together to serve students. #OHedchat#keyrocks#bentoncsd
A3 I think trying to get into as many classrooms as possible ea week has shown my Ts & Ss that I care deeply about what’s going on ea day that teachers take ea lesson more seriously than they might have before I got there. And then celebrating the excellent instruction. #ohedchat
Love the challenges and triumphs piece here, Dr. Dru. When we engage in purposeful reflection on both, we can use these experiences to inform our next steps which helps our team get better and spread the collaborative passion #ohedchat
A3: improved, defined, and gave rational to mastery based learning. Students and staff understand why we do it. What it looks like. And steps to intervene when mastery is not met.
#ohedchat
A3: Passion and Personalization comes through in our #DataPillar We know everything about every learner and customize the learning for each scholar's needs...hard work, but worth it #ohedchat
A3: I've really pushed for students to create and publish their work. They have made YouTube videos & playlists, developed a Shark Tank proposal, blogged online, and collaborated using the GSuite to demonstrate learning. #ohedchat

A3. For me it is trying each day to make sure I bring passion and consistency to the classroom, always doing the little things. My hope is this passion and attitude spreads, although I teach with a lot of people who create an environment that is fun to be a part of #ohedchat
A3: Hired @kunseltech to help foster an innovative mindset w/ @lincolnfablab - Students are creating projects, working with businesses & learning life skills. They will present @NASSP#NPC18 in Chicago this summer #ohedchat
A3: We did a book study on @gcouros#InnovatorsMindset , started a school hashtag to be able to share our learning...slowly but surely, people are sharing the great things happening. #ohedchat
I love @SethGodinBlog focus on the need for more artists in our world. When will we stop making the arts an elective & make them a requirement treated with same status as math/science etc? “Your either an artist or just following directions” Who do we want our ss to be? #ohedchat

#ohedchat
Library media specialists are amazing! So neat to get to know students--often for more than one year--and then tap into that knowledge to connect them with books, resources. #ohedchat
A3: Currently reading "Teach like a Pirate" it really helped me restore passion and working with another Administrator on a book study to help everyone grow!

A3. Celebrate when students demonstrate our school values. Let Ss know when they have been an example. Let them practice telling their story to you or someone else. Make the school values visible throughout your school. #ohedchat
#ohedchat need more art/music choices... and not just electives... think back to TV show when they showed art class, everything 1 girl did was a purple cat (her passion)
I love @SethGodinBlog focus on the need for more artists in our world. When will we stop making the arts an elective & make them a requirement treated with same status as math/science etc? “Your either an artist or just following directions” Who do we want our ss to be? #ohedchat
A4. For me, it’s learning new things. Reading books, having discussions, and most recently, participating in Twitter chats. I always leave more passionate about what I do. #ohedchat
A3: many of our kids don't know about college and not sure if they are even college material. College wall is up to 64 banners and info. Kids love it and if it inspires them to dream and work for something I'm all about it.
#ohedchat
A3: By taking the pledge to Spread the Word to End the Word (https://t.co/8NxV27cLtZ) Before I took the pledge, I didn't realize how hurtful and hateful my words could be. Now I know that by making schools as inclusive as possible, passions will spread like wildfires
#ohedchat

Let your PLN elevate your thinking and challenge you outside your comfort zone.

A4: While more difficult at times then I would like, getting into classrooms and working alongside students and teachers is essential to keep the passion for education alive. Get with the students and staff and listen. #ohedchat
A4: I keep my passion alive every time a S or T comes up to me with that light bulb moment, that time where they can not hold back from the moment.
#ohedchat
A4 By participating in some awesome PLN’s! Reading great books that are outside the norm! Spending time with the Ss and Ts! @bobby__dodd@casehighprinc#ohedchat
A4 find YOUR PERSON and geek out with them. They will keep education relevant, inspiring, and fulfilling. There are so many ways via social media to keep up to date with personalized Pd on your own time! But it is more fun to do it with someone else! #ohedchat
A4) When I started teaching, I wanted kids to remember what I said. As I grew as a school counselor, I wanted students to remember what I did for them. Now, I keep focus on this thought: Students will remember how you made them FEEL. This drives me. #ohedchat
A4: connecting with Twitter accounts and reading new books! I've been into blogging recently and have tried to use it to reflect, share, and grow. #ohedchat
A4: By reminding myself that until the achievement gap is closed shut and equity and equality is available to each and every student, there is still soooo much work to be done! #EducationalReform#ohedchat
A4) When I started teaching, I wanted kids to remember what I said. As I grew as a school counselor, I wanted students to remember what I did for them. Now, I keep focus on this thought: Students will remember how you made them FEEL. This drives me. #ohedchat
A4: I think of the teachers that negatively impact education and have destroyed students passion for education. I'm driven to change the game, inspire hope, and make a difference. My passion comes from the amazing feedback I get from students.
#ohedchat
A4. Find people smarter than I am. Make connections and let them challenge me. Always be open to feedback and new ideas. Check the ego. Continue to set stretch goals for myself, school, staff, students. #ohedchat
A4: Teaching is a demanding job. Authentic conversations with kids where I am actively listening...those moments ground me and remind me that what I do matters. #ohedchat
A4: How do I charge my passion? I ask my students for bucket list items that will make me a better person...I've learned to do an Ollie on a skateboard, create a back to school video, make empanadas...learning is passion. I risk failure to learn new things from them #ohedchat
A4 Our students renew my passion each day. Every time I see them in our classrooms, demonstrating their limitless potential to be the positive leaders we know they can be, it re-kindles the fire to continuously work hard to support their success #ohedchat
A4 . And read.
Read every day. Read serious books. Read fun books. Read classics. Read plays.
The universe has lots of lessons about passion out there - some in unlikely venues!
#ohedchat
As a student, I keep that passion alive by being curious about the world. Being bored, asking questions, and having self awareness is such a healthy way to finding answers and wanting to be better #ohedchathttps://t.co/nRdyscRBlN
Love the challenges and triumphs piece here, Dr. Dru. When we engage in purposeful reflection on both, we can use these experiences to inform our next steps which helps our team get better and spread the collaborative passion #ohedchat
A4: While more difficult at times then I would like, getting into classrooms and working alongside students and teachers is essential to keep the passion for education alive. Get with the students and staff and listen. #ohedchat
A4 reflection. I constantly am thinking about how I can grow. How I can create a better learning environment for ss. My passion for learning comes from reflection. It becomes a cycle. #ohedchat
A4. This for one! Also, books by @carllentzNYC@rickwormeli2@JBerckemeyer and starting a new one by @fastcrayon. In all honesty looking at the great things in our world as well as the part that is hurting and using that as motivation to keep growing & keep pushing #ohedchat
Totally agreed! Next would be treating teachers with the respect they deserve and giving them the support they need. EDUCATORS >>> other professions
#ohedchat
A4: my passion for education is fueled by the kids I work with. The joy and purity they bring into every aspect of their lives is so incredible, that I can't help but want to be a part of it. #ohedchat
A4 Working with others that are much smarter than myself! I learn something new every day and they keep me on my toes! Working to become a better educator and human being every day helps to keep the passion alive! #ohedchat
A4: Education is a life long skill...its never a “1 & done” decision, we tweak, we revisit, we have bad days & good days...my ability to “Learn, Adapt & Change” is what keeps my Passion for Education Alive... https://t.co/EuYWV8x4G8#ohedchat
A1. Our school is very involved in many activities outside of the classroom. It definitely helps students feel connected. Also, many of our staff connect well with the students. #ohedchat
A5: Recognize staff & students when they go above and beyond. Model the behavior and culture we want to create. Sometimes, its putting them on board instead of letting them decide. #ohedchat
A5 Just keep doing what you do and be who you are. Some will get on board with your passion. Some won’t but you can keep on being the model for all! #ohedchat@bobby__dodd@casehighprinc
"The proof is in the puddin'." When we work together and build on each others' strengths, culture improves and so does student achievement. Help everyone understand the why. #ohedchat
A5:I think everyone has different passions. It's not a matter of making them feel the same as you do, it's about understanding theirs and them understanding yours. Then without having to force it, the passion has multiplied and manifested into something even more potent #ohedchat
A5. Everyone has a passion. Everyone has strengths. Coach Ts. Use my skills & knowledge of each teacher to show them how their passions link to our daily work. Remind them why they got into the business in the first place. Support them. Believe in them. Lead them. #ohedchat
A5: Smile. Be genuine. Help colleagues out in a practical way. Keep my emotions in check. Just listen. Keep everything in perspective. Play music. Do random acts of kindness SECRETLY. And pay it forward to the passionate leaders in my life! #ohedchat#bepositive
A5. This is always tough. It’s hard to force people to have your passion. One key is to remain positive and consistently help people to see the importance of their job. Also, results matter. When you have success, others will follow. #ohedchat
A5 I think passion is contagious, so keep it up & try to continue to break down the reluctant by making sure they see how you model how much fun it is to be passionate. #ohedchat
A5: Invite them into my classroom. Somtimes the first step is just seeing a different possibility! It's also important to be transparent and open. Failure WILL be part of the process! #ohedchat
A5. It deals with a person's ability to learn , adapt and change. We never know what someone else is going through in their homelife. So we need to encourage each other, help one another, and be there for each other! #ohedchat
A5: I celebrate my failures with my Ss and Ts when they see that we all have times where we are down they also see when we are down we don't give up and keep pushing, keep working to use that failure as motivation to succeed
#ohedchat
A5: I think enthusiasm and passion are contagious. Don’t ever let them put out your fire. Keep being positive and hopefully they will come around and give the idea a try. #ohedchat
I love the idea of passion being contagious and use this same line often. It's hard to say "no" to something that my colleague is so excited about. #OHedchat
A5 I think passion is contagious, so keep it up & try to continue to break down the reluctant by making sure they see how you model how much fun it is to be passionate. #ohedchat
A5: everyone has a passion...the basic is that we don't want to see people suffer if we can help...so use the causes that matter to students and teachers and create impact projects to help. Grades matter, but helping humanity matters more. #ohedchat
A5: I think Dory says it best: "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming!" Just keep sharing you passions and ideas until you're satisfied with the work and legacy you have left behind.
#ohedchat
A4. I always keep in mind that my attitude, mood & passion impact the building. If I'm not on fire, how can I expect students and teachers to be? Be the example you want to see in your school! #ohedchat
A5. Authenticity and sincerity go a long way. If you are authentic in your approach to the classroom, the school, and the people around you change can occur. Lending a listening ear and being receptive to what others have to say is a must as well. #ohedchat
A5: Not everyone has the same passion for education. I try to stay in my lane, and “run” my own race. I stay out of the drama, and what others are doing or not doing. Hopefully, modeling just like for Ss is the best example of Passion in Educ. #ohedchat
A5 talk to the person, find their passion. Ignite that. Dont need people to be just like me. Encourage them tonfind their passion and give all they can to it. #ohedchat
A5 talk to the person, find their passion. Ignite that. Dont need people to be just like me. Encourage them tonfind their passion and give all they can to it. #ohedchat

A5: I try to keep it simple. Everyone has value. Everyone wants what’s best 4 kids. Help them see how their valuable strengths are the best things. #ohedchat
#ohedchat A5 need more social/informal time to learn about each other .... how often do we know nothing about the person at the other end of the hall b/c we are in our room/space from 7:30-2:30
A5 talk to the person, find their passion. Ignite that. Dont need people to be just like me. Encourage them tonfind their passion and give all they can to it. #ohedchat
A5: Chad Miller jumping in late. Share the research...provide the support and permission to fail. Let them know it is not just you that feel it is best practice. #ohedchat
A6 I just want us to do more to personalize our instruction. We talk about it a lot but I would love to see it more of a reality each day in classes. #ohedchat
#ohedchat A6 #Maker in every aspect of the school --- interwoven in every classroom/curriculum/class and spilling out to the community (& the community coming in to do Maker w/ Ss
A5. Listen 2 them 2 diagnose the why--why have their edu-embers died out? Why have they gone from distinguished educator 2 extinguished? Then work w/ them 2 support their growth. While U also kick out the jams as an active, inspired, visible leader/learner/yearner #ohedchat
A6. Now more than ever it is important to examine what we do & not be afraid to make changes. Our Ss are not even what they were 10 or 20 years ago. The idea is to examine regular practice and blow it up if necessary. Scary, yes, but often times it is for the best. #ohedchat
A6. Allowing our Ss to solve problems on a global scale and work with groups and people around the world to create the change they want to see in the world! #ohedchat
A6: Currently transforming our traditional library to a learning commons using the #futureready framework and striving to be an award-winning school. #ohedchat
A6 make sure every district has an art/design/creativity specialist at the CO level. We need to create the conditions for creative minds to shine brightly! “Your either an artist, or just following the directions.”-@SethGodinBlog What do we want our ss to be? #ohedchat
A6: I work with college students, and I use strategies with them that I would like for them to use when they become teachers. I’m getting ready to present #sketnoting to them. I’m doing my homework but will be out of my comfort zone for a little while. #ohedchat
A6 I think teachers learn so much when they watch each other teach. They often give each other the best feedback. Would love to have the culture support ongoing peer observations. #ohedchat
A6: Create more opportunities for students to have internships within academic courses. Develop flexible spaces for collaboration and implement personalized PD opportunities. #ohedchat
#ohedchat A6: No subjects....deep embedded problem based environment where student choice is the driver of content they choose. Tchrs weave standards through their projects that evolve while solving the problems. Students find and follow their passion. #statusquodisruptor
We appreciate @casehighprinc for moderating #ohedchat this evening. Thank you everyone for contributing. Join us next week for #ohedchat at 9 PM (EST).
A6: I would like to do a monthly community night. Where we go to different businesses around the community..invite parents and allow students to bring any work they've done that they are proud of. Kids need to be able to show the world what they can do. #ohedchat
A6: we have r college wall but we r developing r career wall. The wall showcases jobs in the trades&military. A school that truly encourages&develops college & career ready https://t.co/YhQiSNjwOo skills like resume writing tips, proper social media use, ECT.
