A1) So many goals...using @Seesaw effectively, teaching the new math curric as best I can, giving me "me" time, making 1:1 contact w/ each Ss daily. #mtedchat
A1: The goal I hold myself responsible for are student improvement. As long as you were better than last time, then we accomplished something. I don’t have that written anywhere , but I will now! #MTedchat
A1 In theory my district's evaluation system has a goal setting aspect; however, I wouldn't say many think of it as such. And, my one might be more difficult to measure. #MTedchat
A1 It depends on the goal and what data I need to track it so far as to how I record it-- specific goals that need a plan- yes! write them down.
#MTedchat
Yes!! What a great focus to keep you all moving forward... Definitely see if there is a way to document and track growth for your own personal reflection... Makes hard days easier seeing progress. #mtedchat
A1. I have my own goals for my school. First and foremost is climate and culture yearly. My superintendent asks me to accomplish some things. The board sets district goals #MTedchat
Sure! @participate is an online space which houses many tools for bringing together educators and education-based communities. I'm using the chats feature that makes twitter chats a bit easier to follow.
How is that definition, @jenwilliamsedu? #mtedchat

A1 We pick a goal each year & write it down. Mine is to continue to refine & develop assessments for each standard. We're rolling out standards based report cards this year & I want to make sure our assessments are solid and that I can use them to pinpoint what Ss need #mtedchat
A1: My current goal is to develop the right visual to demonstrate how are various district initiatives are both student driven and moving toward the same trajectory... #mtedchat
Q2: On a scale of one (low) to four (high), rate how well you are holding yourself accountable for that growth. What can you do to ensure progress? #MTedchat
I am curious to hear your feedback on your standards based report cards. My district rolled them out a couple of years ago and they're lackluster. What are you looking forward to w/ them? #mtedchat
Q2: On a scale of one (low) to four (high), rate how well you are holding yourself accountable for that growth. What can you do to ensure progress? #MTedchat
It can be supported by coaches. I'm a non-classroom instructional employee this year, so there's slight difference. In short my goal is to support teachers in creating more equitable teaching #MTedchat
A2: 3. I'm pretty good at keeping myself accountable. As long as I take the time to write it down with all the steps to get to my goal. The rating goes down in relation to the quality of the plan. #mtedchat
I love the idea as well but our are only numerical based and come with a companion that explains ELA, math and science standards. They forgot about PE and music....#mtedchat
A2: this is hard for me to answer because I am not quite a teacher yet, but I keep my self accountable for doing good work in my classes bc I know it will make me a better teacher someday. So I’d say about a 3 (I’m doing this as homework while carving pumpkins too!) #mtedchat
There are a lot of factors that go into it. Starting w/a chart that tracks method for creating groups & reflects on patterns in all those areas, success, and changes to be made #MTedchat
That last part is so true for everyone... I literally have to set calendar reminders to check on myself... With so many different projects, responsibilities...need to keep all flowing #mtedchat
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®. I am working to fulfill 25 hours of coursework before December 1. Hope to take the test right before or after the new year. #mtedchat
Q3: Consider your action plan… Are there people in your network you could/do turn to for support and accountability? How do you access/utilize their skills? #MTedchat
There are also sections where we have to average the score of several unrelated skills to assign a single grade on the report card. I don't feel this accurately reflects a Ss or their learning. #mtedchat
A2: I would say I am at about a 3... I need some time to quiet the world around me to get the focus required as it is about communicating the goals to a variety of stakeholders (and myself) with ONE visual. #mtedchat
Q2: On a scale of one (low) to four (high), rate how well you are holding yourself accountable for that growth. What can you do to ensure progress? #MTedchat
A3 Yes, connections are crucial. I also love Twitter for the virtual connections it provides. I still find chats and ppl that interest me and my goal. I created a newsletter & have section of Twitter handles to follow #MTedchat
Q3: Consider your action plan… Are there people in your network you could/do turn to for support and accountability? How do you access/utilize their skills? #MTedchat
A3 I'm on a committee with others to develop our assessments, so I do have other people as support. I also know I can always reach out to my #mtedchat crew for advice and support if I need it!
A3: I'm working with @slm4dst who also wants to get her CAPM. We meet and talk about progress once a week for about 30 min. This helps me stay focused and be ready for she will ask about it. #mtedchat
YES... Me too... ⬇️⬇️ We just transitioned to having a full time counselor and that makes SUCH a big difference. She leads groups on zones of regulation that is establishing both language and tools for all. Universal Design #mtedchat
I’ve been thinking about you! Are you finding that realistic principal goals are turning out to be harder to set and reach than you anticipated? #MTedchat
A2. I give myself a 2. I am constantly monitoring climate. Getting student and staff feedback. Tough to measure at times. Easy to forget. It’s the main thing that helps me and out school though #MTedchat
I think documenting allows us to force our brains to stop and think about our task and this allows us to think critically about our goals. WTG! #mtedchat
Q3: I am looking forward to learning from my supervising teacher during student teaching! I hope that I will feel comfortable asking for support/guidance from others when I land my first teaching job. #mtedchat
Hmmmmm... Generally, no... But that is largely due to having almost an entire teaching staff turnover when I was hired...and a background in instructional coaching. The biggest challenge is supporting the softest hearted staff in a high-trauma area. Emotional fatigue... #mtedchat
A3 I am learning that being part of a smaller team with more focused holistic goals makes it so much easier to set and attain personal goals because I feel and see directly that my team members are counting on me. #MTedchat
A3: my action plan is simple. JUST DO IT. So fortunate to have a good network of people who will to hold me accountable and push me to be my best. I access their skills by observation and conversation. I’ve been told to “ask me anything, anytime” #MTedchat
I agree... surveys only tell you so much. I do love our first steps in with the Check-In, Check-Out program... We identified the kids that go under the radar for support. Typically 'voiceless'. Their feedback has been SO useful! #mtedchat
Q3: Consider your action plan… Are there people in your network you could/do turn to for support and accountability? How do you access/utilize their skills? #MTedchat
I recently was in a meeting with some @NCCE_EdTech friends, and we talked a lot about the acronym #ETDMTYS! I have been thinking about that a lot lately... #MTedchat
Thinking abt your last question... THIS, that you posted articulates why I am SO happy where I am and with what I'm doing. I felt very lost and ineffective as a coach in MCPS. Too many directions to support, with not enough support myself. Dixon team small and SO good. #mtedchat
Q4: Looking back on the last month...Describe a specific frustration you would like to adjust to be more successful? (Communications, content background, classroom management, etc..) #MTedchat
It is hard... Every system has a different definition of what a coach is an does. I've seen and been a part of a REALLY good and effective framework. I've also seen and been a part of a broken system. #mtedchat
I love that professors have their students participating in Twitter life. It has been so valuable to me. If I ever become a professor, I will do this as well ...(I think that's a secret goal of mine 😉) #MTedchat

A4. Hoops. Getting lost in paperwork or making things harder then it is. People create more work for others at times. Monkeys if you will from Todd Whitaker. It’s easy to get lost in things that don’t matter #mtedchat
A4: I need to be more organized 😩 I am usually very organized but lately I’ve just felt all over the place. I need to just sit down and get it together (ha!) #MTedchat
A4 I find myself in a lot of situations where I am surprised by teachers’ lack of grit and perseverance when they are specifically seeking to develop it in their students. I just guide, guide, guide and hope they’ll learn something along the way, too. #MTedchat
A4: I need to correct the fact that I don't plan events as well as I should.
If I have a project/event, plan the timeline, activities, resources, and the closure.
I can add more processes as I reflect after certain tasks. (CAPM courses are helping me) #mtedchat
My twitter PLN is invaluable. If I had a digital PLN when I was teaching in the middle of nowhere MT I would have been a little better off. #mtedchat I also think it's imperative to education today. A connected educator is a better educator (IMO).

Yes... Monkeys... Time-sucks...Truly have learned to rely on timer on my phone. Helps me to pace through day. #mtedchat Never sit at my desk for over an hour when students/staff is there but check in in the office or at the front office every hour for accessibility. #mtedchat
I've started using @trello It is SO good for me as a project management system... I blend it with Google Drive and my life has become SO much less stressful. #mtedchat
Q4: Looking back on the last month...Describe a specific frustration you would like to adjust to be more successful? (Communications, content background, classroom management, etc..) #MTedchat
A4 With being in a completely new role for the district, it's new to everyone and the rules and perspectives can change. I'm working the remember that despite changes and perspectives, I work to better the students learning experience -their voice is my guide #MTedchat
I found that I had to make sure to fully organize my learning space at the end of every Friday... Through the years, I drastically cut down on paperwork as I became for project-based/digital... Still is a goal for me too. #mtedchat
I used to use @Trello.
When I put it on my calendar as an event, I put activites/notes in the description and reminders to make sure specifics are done by that time. #mtedchat
A4: Sometimes I forget to breathe! It has been a stressful semester, and I do a lot of worrying about the future. I think it’s important to remember to take things day by day! #mtedchat
Q5: How could/does strategically practicing progress monitoring and self-reflection impact how you work with students/staff? Are there ways to share your process with them? #MTedchat
Sorry to b late to the party! A4) Providing more timely feedback for walkthroughs so teachers know I see all the great things they do every moment of every day. #mtedchat
Q5: How could/does strategically practicing progress monitoring and self-reflection impact how you work with students/staff? Are there ways to share your process with them? #MTedchat
That is the most important part. Breathing helps to calm the soul and even brings oxygen to the brain. Hmm. More people need to stop and breath. #mtedchat
Q5: How could/does strategically practicing progress monitoring and self-reflection impact how you work with students/staff? Are there ways to share your process with them? #MTedchat
A5 When we practice, it becomes more natural. We model without even knowing it at times. Other times, we use our experience in testimony to others of it's importance and value. Everyone grows. #MTedchat
A5 it makes you a better teacher! It helps give insight where students are (it shows you who is moving and who is not) and gives you a chance to reflect and see where you need to be to meet your students. #MTedchat
Q5: How could/does strategically practicing progress monitoring and self-reflection impact how you work with students/staff? Are there ways to share your process with them? #MTedchat
Hi! 👋🏻 Super late but loving this conversation you’re having tonight! A5) I try to model to Ts I work with that I am a “lead learner” & am constantly making mistakes, trying out new things, & adapting. But I don’t think I’m strategic in monitoring/sharing my progress. #MTedchat
A5.1 ok, I should be more specific. My team used MULTIPLE collaborative Google Sheets to list goals, add notes, and track progress. We check in and communicate with each other frequently to create and think critically about our next steps. HEY - we use the #4Cs!😃 #MTedchat
A4 I've been struggling these last couple months with having students follow directions. I feel like I'm very explicit in my directions, but will have several students not follow directions or not know what to do. #mtedchat
Q5: How could/does strategically practicing progress monitoring and self-reflection impact how you work with students/staff? Are there ways to share your process with them? #MTedchat
A5) I have been trying to get staff together each week to complete an energizing activity AND discuss celebrations openly. We have to reflect on the positive as much as needs - maybe more on + to build culture. #mtedchat
I love using agendas.
They help me know what is going on.
Reflect on what to do next or what not to do.
I use them to adjust as needed.
Many people refer to them as ...
Lesson Plans!
Except I go back to previous agendas as my work spirals, a lot. #mtedchat
A5: Similar to what @AnnBruckerEDU was just talking abt re: encouraging grit and growth mindset with students... if we as educators don't practice and model goal-setting and progress monitoring, we can't expect students to see the importance or implement into practice #mtedchat
Q5: How could/does strategically practicing progress monitoring and self-reflection impact how you work with students/staff? Are there ways to share your process with them? #MTedchat
Yes... not only develops culture, but provides opportunity for Ts to 'see' into peers classroom. We take and adapt the things we see that are effective. Keep the walls down... Squash negatives under positives. #mtedchat
Q2forA5 for @cristama, @niemeyermr406, @kinsey80 and other school leaders... how do you know that those personal goals you’re setting are effective with your staff? How do you elicit (and respond to) their honest feedback? #MTedchat
I think self-reflection is so meaningful! I am an English tutor on campus for my peers. I always try to think about what I did well during the tutoring session, as well as what I could work on for the next time. There is always room for improvement! #mtedchat
A6 As a pretty type-A person my whole life, I’m pretty excited that I have learned to embrace change and the idea that innovation sometimes reveals itself as unexpected “adventures.” We have to be open-minded and willing to struggle as WE learn, too! #MTedchat
A2forA5 During every full day, no-student PIR for the last three years, I start the morning with this Google Form... Helps me develop staff and individual PD. #mtedchat

A6 Hands down becoming National Board Certified. It completely changed me as a teacher, and I can't imagine where I would be had I not gone through this process. #MTedchat
A6: Having friends who I can call upon for support when I need it. These friends are willing to do anything. This came from learning about people, talking to them, and being a friend/ear/shoulder/sounding board. I'm putting into practice what I know to be right. #mtedchat
Honestly, it's been from a panel discussion with teachers that some of my practice has come to fruition; from surveys they have completed; and those that will give feedback, honest and timely, mean the most. Some would never...#MTedchat
