A1: quick feet, great pad level, ability to read, react, & shed block quickly, size/strength to not be moved at point of attack
#swarmfbchat

#swarmfbchat
JasonConley20
May 10 @ 9:19 PM EDT
A2- in our slanting system, I like physical kids who can read on the run. Big, run stoppers are great, but we don't have them.

CODY_GARDNER

I think how you want the kid to two gap matters. Play head up, sit in middle play 2 at once or play gap read block play 2nd if

Loaded Q3: What are your aiming points/vision keys/footwork for your DL in either 2-gap or 1-gap?
#swarmfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
May 10 @ 9:27 PM EDT
We mix 1 & 2 gap techniques every play, 2-2gap 2-1gap players. Which makes "talent" demands lower,

Q3) Hand placement is the same, how we respond to the blocks will be dictated by job. Attack half a man, gap arm & v of neck
#swarmfbchat
CoachMocahbee
May 10 @ 9:29 PM EDT
A3 for our 1 gap scheme our key is the v of the neck of the o lineman your slanting towards. Have to read on the run.

Each has a set of rules. 2 gap "Duece" & 1 gap "jet"
#swarmfbchat
coachdober
May 10 @ 9:30 PM EDT
A3: 1-gap scheme: aiming/strike point is armpit of key, ready to meet force with force. If key goes away, squeeze near hip.

May 10 @ 9:30 PM EDT
A3: we work countless hand placement drills for vision key
#swarmfbchat
CoachDuda
May 10 @ 9:31 PM EDT

Interesting; heard of this, but worried about having eye level so low.
#swarmfbchat
CoachNahum60
May 10 @ 9:33 PM EDT
A3) Ball on pass downs. Visual key man on/pressure key next man for odd techniques. Even techs when slanting is reversed.
#swarmfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
May 10 @ 9:35 PM EDT
Duece rules Down = squeeze get eyes inside for puller to mesh If blocked(base or reach) crossface to inside gap
#swarmfbchat
CoachNahum60
May 10 @ 9:36 PM EDT
A3) V of the neck mostly. Start engaged with DL for block recognition. Should be able to play it blind if taught properly

May 10 @ 9:37 PM EDT
Q4: What do you tell your DL in passing downs and/or will you sub DL on passing downs to get a "pure rusher"?
#swarmfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
May 10 @ 9:37 PM EDT
"Jet" rules Down = squeeze eyes inside to qb(same) If blocked = disengage get vertical play run on way to QB
#swarmfbchat
coachdober
May 10 @ 9:39 PM EDT
A4: slightly different stance, more rip through and defeat block mentality vs. control key mentality on run downs.
#swarmfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
May 10 @ 9:39 PM EDT
A4)nice part about our rules, to Jet guys have built in pass rush, & typically the faster than Duece players. Can check all jet
#swarmfbchat
Coach_BKennedy
May 10 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A3: Attack and control gap side shoulder, don't like to defeat the entire man, just the half that threatens you

A4: We will rep the drill "OT in a box" to determine outside speed rush vs up & under move
#swarmfbchat
Coach__French
May 10 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A4: i use the phrase "get home" and we will sub in better pass rushers
#swarmfbchat
CoachMocahbee
May 10 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A4 for my de I like a wide 9 tech slant your stance and sprint off the line to beat that T outside. important to stay outside
#swarmfbchat
CoachNahum60
May 10 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A4) Believe in sub package 100%. DE's in even techs have a two go.. Usually combine it with an interior DT stunt.. They love it
#swarmfbchat
CoachDuda
May 10 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A4: Loose Alignment. Usually Double 3's in our 40 Front. Work 1/3 of your man. I like to help our run stuffers by stunting them
#swarmfbchat
NairnCraig
May 10 @ 9:41 PM EDT
Q4:We tell them to explode off ball when your key moves. Race to 4 yds, flip hips, violent hands, attack QB upfield shoulder.
#swarmfbchat
coachdober
May 10 @ 9:42 PM EDT
A4: I prefer not to sub DL here. To me, pass downs are their reward for hard, often in-noticed work on 1st & 2nd downs
#swarmfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
May 10 @ 9:42 PM EDT
@CODY_GARDNER
*two jet guys.....they are faster....fat fingers & a small brain, sorry guys
#swarmfbchat

May 10 @ 9:43 PM EDT
Anymore w these rpo guys, dl has to engage pro fight like hell bring 6/7 and make that 16 year old kid beat you
#swarmfbchat

#swarmfbchat
Coach_BKennedy
May 10 @ 9:45 PM EDT
A4: will rush with base players or a rush package, we have a plan of racing the OL to a spot 4yds behind heels...contd➡️
#swarmfbchat
CoachMocahbee
May 10 @ 9:45 PM EDT
@rmacblue
nothing worse than spinning around in a circle and oh look the o lineman is still there...

May 10 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A4: I think subbing a "pass rusher" who knows his skill set allows him to get to the QB is a must do - gotta be a D & D thing.
#swarmfbchat
PigSkinCoach
May 10 @ 9:47 PM EDT
We could talk about pass rush all day, lot of things can be worked offseason, for some rep peel/eat rules and screen game hard
#swarmfbchat
Coach_BKennedy
May 10 @ 9:47 PM EDT
A4 contd: we then react to the speed and where the OL sets, slow=speed, Fast=drive up then flat to QB, good set=Bull/flip hips
#swarmfbchat
CODY_GARDNER
May 10 @ 9:49 PM EDT

Q5: How do you get a DL with size to play tough or a smaller DL to play with tech and speed (establishing DL mentality)?
#swarmfbchat
CoachMocahbee
May 10 @ 9:50 PM EDT
A4 for the nose they must stay A 2 A in a pass rush. Nothing worse than letting QB step up the middle to waste a good de rush
