We typically have a veteran or active soldier come in to speak with our whole school; very powerful and very moving

Ah...I think most schools in Canada do some kind of assembly/service in honour of Remembrance Day. Huge outcry if nothing happened.

Absolutely! We have had internment camp and Holocaust survivors speak to kids as well.

In my first job, a SS T usually organized assembly on Veterans' Day (Remembrance Day). However, think it got phased out, sadly.

I prefer to think of Veteran's Day by its original name in the US, Armistice Day. I always preferred to focus on peace not war.
