Thanks for joining #OrEdChat tonight as we shared ideas on how to help Ss be their own mechanic! Y'all made it a MARVELOUS chat! Have a great week!
Don't forget to be back next week as #OrEdChat dives in w/ @TaraMartinEDU & her book #REALedu ! Can't wait! https://t.co/HU7NgH2fh2
Bonus Challenge: Last week I had one Ss who struggles with getting mad at, well, humans, practice deep breathing when he could tell he was getting upset. Worked! #OrEdChat
A4: I feel like once students have gotten to the red zone that’s when you need to be concerned for the other students’ safety and the safety of the student that is exhibiting anger. Try sensory strategies. Remove student or other students from the environment #OrEdChat
Thanks so much for hosting a lively and practical chat @SteinbrinkLaura and #oredchat - looking forward to more chat with everyone -- have a great week!
Body language is important! Always give Ss a way to save face while remaining calm and reminding of consequences, if necessary. I love the office errand or bathroom break too. #OrEdChat
Bonus: I'm just going to listen more, show my own gratitude for what my students bring to the community, and try not to talk negatively about anyone, including myself. #OrEdChat
Thanks for an awesome chat tonight @SteinbrinkLaura. And as Laura stated, join us next week when we start Be Real by @TaraMartinEDU I will be moderating the chat. #OrEdChat
Bonus #SEL: Be supportive of students. Positive praise all the time and don’t get in a power struggle. This will only escalate their negative behavior. #OrEdChat
A5 I have 1 Student that just needs to get away to process. We have a code when he wants to be alone and go for a walk, he tells me he needs to use the bathroom and it is an "emergency". Or if I want him to take a walk, I ask him to bring the green folder to the office. #OrEdChat
RT @jcoswald: A3 playing upbeat music, showing short videos for fun and engagement, #gamification, greeting at the door for entering and leaving #OrEdChat
