I like incorporating his poems in my history class. Then my history students are like "hmmm, Ms. K. this isn't ELA." But they realize that literature from a time period helps build empathy & understanding that a history book cannot do. #edtechafterdark

Tracking the manatee population in the Crystal Bay Area along Magnolia and 3 Sisters Springs. Also sending Ss to work with the Depart of Enviro Prot to monitor water and wildlife quality in the Big Bend of Florida. Also track Biodiversity in our back yard #edtechafterdark

A3. I did a PBL on what great stories look like. Final product was a stop motion movie. We had a film festival to premiere all the Ss work. This one was called, "The Fantastic 5, No 6!"

A3: When studying the metric system, my kiddos put together a METRIC Olympics for our class to participate in. This is a pic of the straw javelin. Pretty intense, but man, they walked away with a bad case of Metric MaDnEsS! #EdTechAfterDark
A3: In a history class, we do mini-inquiries to dive deeper in the content. I'm finding ways to build more of this into the class, but it involves scaffolding, finding relevant topics & authentic audiences for the students. #edtechafterdark

A3. Did a PBL on "Does slavery still exist? Based on the book Nightjohn. T'was very powerful b/c the book (& the sequel Sarny) dug deep into many of the lives of the Ss. In the end, the Ss tested if they were or not using this website.

A3: these MS students wanted to build exciting gift bags for hospitalized kids; used my ELA class to draft letters to the hospital, create a crowdfunding site, and updated donators via a blog. A real project with real impact. #EdTechAfterDark

It’s amazing the magic that happened when @MrLeonard8 and I had the pleasure of teaching across the hallway from each other. For everyone of those 3 kids there’s two dozen other PBL success stories that cake out of that time #EdTechAfterDark
