Heading out for an early Friday morning run (after a full day yesterday...conferences with parents and students)! Have a fantastic Friday friends! Hope you’re able to recharge over the weekend! 😊💕 #bfc530
Well, how are we all today? I am draggin' the wagon, bit of a headache and hope that some fresh air and walking my dog will give me the reset I need to start today off well! (And greeting all of you, of course!) #bfc530
Answer: This morning! At first, I could only recall myself doing it while learning a second language. Then the light came on. I have international students doing this all of the time. Any students who speak English as a second language must do this. #bfc530@MrTravisDrake
Not sure about thinking... But it's always a breakthrough when 2 of my Arabic speaking students do their group work in English rather than reverting back to Arabic to be understood by each other. #bfc530

Hear you on that. Q could be: At what point did you realize that your students are speaking in English but you have no idea what they are talking about?
#bfc530
Could just be people my age though....
Yes... the walking isn't so much about the behaviour but more a check of the health of the animal. Then they look at fleece and things like teeth, ears and tail #bfc530
I don't even try to fake it, although I realized that I could start using cool 1980 movie quotes in talking with my students & since they don't know the movie, would just attribute the line to me #bfc530

Pew Die Pie & some battle for subscribers or something was the latest "Huh, what are you talking about" moments my middle school kids taught me. I think my elementary aged daughters had heard of it too. #bfc530
Revised: when do Ss recognize thoughts are words/language? Debatable, With visual oriented SM thought is visual image. Infrequently thought is sensible impression: smell, tactile feel, sound. taste. #bfc530
In college, it was amazing how much more I wanted to become fluent in Spanish when two exchange students from Argentina moved in down the hall from me over the summer session. I think I learned more Spanish in six weeks than I had in six years! #motivation#BFC530
About 10 years ago, I was showing a Seinfeld clip of Festivus for studying holidays. I asked "What did Jerry Seinfeld say?" and a student responded "Who is Jerry Seinfeld?". I ran out into the hallway and screamed #bfc530
Teaching the significance of the Fall of the Berlin Wall became more and more difficult as students no longer had the context of living in the Cold War #bfc530
So funny! We were watching Remember the Titans about school segregation, and there was a reference to Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. Try explaining that one! #weareold#bfc530
I was happy Stranger Things came out because the kids liked it and so did I but for different reasons ... the nostalgia hooked me first then the plot ... the kids really didn’t get the 80s setting #bfc530
I tell students all the time that we think in fragments, that arguably and at times, our thinking is poetry. Especially when they might be struggling with writing poetry. #BFC530
You know what was neat. My students wanted me to play Bohemian Rhapsody but instead payed my playlist of obscure songs from the 70's while they worked. At the end of class, 1/2 the class wanted the playlist. #bfc530
#bfc530 I asked because the I remember someone asking me the answer and I automatically signed-2nd language. My word it was a wonderful feeling. I always see such a look of shock in student's eyes the 1st time they don't have to double check back in their language. Very cool
So true. They have no clue when you say "It's like The Goonies", although I do have students who do know the 80's references b/c they had conversations w/their parents watching it. I've done the same with my kids. That is a great things about Stranger Things #bfc530
Today’s topic is a puzzle to me. But my students did create a video a few years ago stating film was the best foreign language class with lots of film terms. #bfc530
Sorry guys it does say thinking in other, meaning 2nd or 3rd or anything that isn't home language. I can clearly remember I used to have to double check everything in English, when I started process ideasin sign language it was pretty cool.
Sorry to confuse

Good morning! Hope today flies and that the content comes alive. I didn’t get the question. But, just really wanted you early morning folks to know that you are amazing! You could change a life today! Today could be THE day! #BFC530
Are you asking about the cool young “language” they speak with their friends it students who actuallyspeak diff languages. Kinda a weird question...#bfc530
Five years ago i had a young lady in my sixth grade classroom who got every John Hughes film and 80s pop rock & pop culture reference - from Silver Spoons to big hair bandsI threw out there. #raisingthemright#childofthe80s#greatestdecade#bfc530
