A1 I take every opportunity I have to promote the use of @Twitter! I have connected with educators all over the globe and made friends for life with Twitter! #EngageChat
A1. Hyper Docs have become a way of life. With a little more effort and by taking a few more seconds to link documents, information is LITERALLY a click away! #EngageChat
A1: I am a huge fan of Google classroom and @Flipgrid the ability to give Ss an avenue to collaborate and to support Ss choice and give the a voice is empowering. #EngageChat

A1: Still learning FlipGrid, but I'm enjoying it. Recently I've been playing with meme creators, gif creators, and drawing apps and software - feeling very creative lately! #engagechat
A1: The best tech tool is choice! I love seeing students having the flexibility to use whatever tech tool fits their preference and task instead of being boxed into one the teacher is comfortable with. #EngageChat

I am more of a digits over digital teacher myself #engagechat when offered a choice most of the time my students choose makerspace design over technology
A2: Look at this great PLN we have right here. Twitter chats, finding your "tribe" so to speak, things like that really help connect teachers. #engagechat
A2: Twitter has allowed me the opportunity to meet teachers all over the world. It's an amazing tool. Love shared documents as well to collaborate with colleagues at school #EngageChat

#engagechat Khan Academy has been working hard to match skills to common core. Very useful @InnovateNYCedu has partnered with them to provide training to teachers

@Dale_Chu, @khanacademy, @InnovateNYCedu
A2: Technology allows us to connect with incredible educators around the world that we might never meet otherwise—like we are doing right now! We can then connect our students for global collaboration...and the possibilities are endless. #engagechat
A2: project toolkits or online lesson plans can be used as a powerful tool for teachers to come together even when they might not be able to be in the same space. Ideas can flow and you have the ability to share perspective.
#engagechat
A2. I love google classroom..still learning more with it as well...But I think the collaboration can come in when we're helping each other learn programs/platforms #engagechat
A2: with all the great resources available teachers can connect various grade levels in fun and unique ways, i.e.5th can read to K using @Flipgrid, grade wide projects, even school wide. Technology, when used appropriately can move magical mountains #EngageChat
A2 Tech enables avenues for asynchronous collaboration among Ts. Given the myriad of tasks that our Ts have to complete each day, tech can be used to collaboratively plan, observe, & reflect on instruction - allows our Ts to share ideas for innovation and next steps #engagechat
A2: Last year our MTSS Coordinator @bhall_acs began using ZOOM to hold district team meetings as well as delivering bite size PD sessions. This was a great way to bring everyone together without them having to leave their school. This was well received by all! #EngageChat
Twitter is the one that has allowed us to talk and meet teachers around the world, and Skype allows us to join in sessions around the world! #engagechat
Hey! Shannon here from Raleigh, NC. Jumping in late but always eager to learn. A2) #gsuiteedu is amazing for collaboration. We have been using the team drive and it has allowed us to share things so easily. Twitter is my second fav! #engagechat
A2: Twitter, Google Docs, Schoology, Zoom, Skype - so many opportunities for teachers all over the world to collaborate. No longer do we need to feel alone! #engagechat
A2 #engagechat Teacher thrive by collaboration and exchange of ideas- any opportunity like Edcamps and conferences is an amazing way to mingle and motivate a blossoming of new ideas
#engagechat Tech facilitates communication among teachers. Teachers don’t have much time to meet together in one place. Using tech tools can help teachers share documents and post comments at anytime from everywhere
A2. It eliminates the requirement for both to be in the same room. BUT be careful, if we become comfortable collaborating apart, culture and camaraderie can be hurt. #EngageChat#StrongerTogether
Great point, John. We shouldn't diminish the importance of #f2f for both Ss and Ts! Our competitive advantage over technology is the human interaction that we all need! #engagechat
A3: It has to serve a purpose within the instruction. Yes, tech is fun and engaging, but it shouldn't be used for only that reason. As with the instruction itself, its use needs to be relevant. #engagechat
A3. Videos can prevent students from ever missing a day of instruction. The same videos can be a resource to parents who want to learn the “New Math 🤣” #EngageChat#EdTech#EdChat
A2: I am taking this question a little bit of a different path. But technology or more specifically learning new technology, whether it be apps or specific software, creates a need for teachers to put their capable minds together. #EngageChat

Podcasting with #audacity - as lab reports rather than paper-cookie cutter lab sheets. Stop-Motion video of makerspace design- and group projects #EngageChat

A3: The key word is enhance. As long as it is used to enhance and doesn’t upstage or interfere with the learning. Technology used properly can enhance lessons as well as professional development. #EngageChat
A3: Technology is like any other educational resource. It can be used to enhance instruction IF it's used purposefully. We don't use it just for the sake of saying we use it—we use it when we know it will take learning to a place that wouldn't be possible otherwise. #engagechat
A3 Tech can be used to enhance instruction by purposefully incorporating the tools to support Ss connected practice. We can use tech to increase rigor of students products of knowledge through creation, evaluation, and lesson application #engagechat
A3. There's so many tools!Instruction is enhanced when tech is providing us with valuable Ss data. And it can be used as a great differentiation resource. #engagechat
A3: technology allows for great collaboration among Ss. @Flocabulary gives a quick video to spark Ss interests @GetKahoot is fabulous. @GoNoodle for movement. So many ways to get kids involved. #EngageChat
A3: The key word is enhance. As long as it is used to enhance and doesn’t upstage or interfere with the learning. Technology used properly can enhance lessons as well as professional development. #EngageChat
A3: I think technology’s best used to enhance instruction...it can be used to prepare our students for the digital age they are growing up in but should never replace the face to face human connection and relationships that create empathy, kindness, and respect #EngageChat
Technology opens so many doors. In 2018, we (Ts) literally hold the power to connect with a teacher anywhere in the world. The makes our learning unstoppable #engagechat
A3: technology can be a tool to enrich or support those who might need remediation. Creates to differentiate very quickly and meet kids where they are at.
#EngageChat
A3: Tech can enhance instruction through allowing Ss to own their learning. Whether they are being smart digital consumers or creating their own content, tech provides an avenue for students to go beyond memorization & actually actualize the lofty idea of application. #EngageChat
A3 Tech can be used to enhance instruction by purposefully incorporating the tools to support Ss connected practice. We can use tech to increase rigor of students products of knowledge through creation, evaluation, and lesson application #engagechat
A3. Kids like change. Using tech tools increases motivation. Kids can present their work using tech rather than always paper. Certain tools like edpuzzle and khan Academy can be used to reinforce knowledge and skills. #engagechat
A4 "great" is based on the user ... I communicate through many different ways ... Facebook/Instagram ... Text Message ... of course the kids going home and talking about school is the best communication tool #engagechat
A4 I imagine that eventually, communication w/ parents will look like the way most healthcare providers. They will be able to see what and how they're kids are doing #engagechat
A4: We use our school website, Facebook, Twitter, Recorded Messages which also go to text and email, Remind App, and my folks use good old fashioned newsletters as well as student planners. We try to use a variety of mediums to communicate with our community. #EngageChat
A4) We love using email, remind and our websites. However, I think this question has to consider low tech options too. Write a note, call, or do a home visit to engage a parent or guardian. And, don’t give up just because you may not get a response. They care. #EngageChat

Can parents only monitor their child’s work with Google Classroom or will they see the entire class? I’ve never used the parent option with Google Classroom. #engagechat
A4: One of my favorites is Class Dojo. It explicitly shows how students are positively and negatively working in the classroom by points created by the teacher. There are also class stories to show parents what is going on in the classroom as well at direct messages. #engagechat
A4: Many of the tools have already been mentioned, so I'll just say that the best tech to use for communication is what parents are most comfortable with. Keep in mind, some parents who live in rural areas have no tech at home, so written notes or texts are ok, too. #engagechat
A4 I'm looking forward to Blackboard and other similar programs will consolidate so that only one or a few programs will be needed to communicate with parents effectively (in addition to face-to-face when needed) #engagechat
A3: Ss love to work on their devices. Using apps like XtraMath and Zearn allow Ss to work on math & NoRedInk or typing club allow students to work on ELA. Or even auditory books allow students to engage in important skills during down time. #EngageChat
A5. I need to get my head around coding..... teaching Middle Primary for the first time 💜 I think https://t.co/qEEAMLUNSt might be my new beat friend 😂 #engagechat
A5 Demonstrating the value of edtech that uses narrative, comics and media to support my online courses in thinking and writing for transitioning Ss and freshmen. #engagechat
I dig the Remind type apps and school based messages/calls but I wonder how many parents actually read/listen ... they sign up but do they actual use. Most parents I have talked to ignore ... #engagechat
A5: To learn enough to offer options for kids to explore and then for them to decide how they will/can be more productive w technology either through process or product. Kids know way more than we do! #engagechat
A5 In 2019 I would like for the majority of my meetings with principals and teachers to be virtual.
I’m also working on digital advertising for our Title I meetings. Stay tuned! #EngageChat

A5: continued I want to learn how to use the hyperdoc effectively for getting information out to staff as well as teachers using it in their classrooms. #EngageChat
A5: I want to incorporate more technology such as @geogebra or @Desmos into my curriculum. Students would get a kick out of it! I also hope to upload material to a YouTube channel starting with my fraction songs/instruction ☺️ #EngageChat
A5: I'd like to learn more about coding. I'd also like to master Sketch-Noting and Flip-Griding and create a fun little Thirsty Bees PD video. #engagechat
Thank you @daviswelcome for another great chat! I have so many takeaways tonight!! Thanks to everyone for sharing! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a great gear up for the holidays next week! #EngageChat
A4 Hi, Shawna here, jumping in crazy late. I use @Seesaw, @RemindHQ, & my band FB page to communicate w/Ps. Plus good ole fashioned paper notes once in a while. #engagechat
