For the next hour my tweets will be dedicated to on goals and themes in learning for us and our students. I will be your host.

Q1. Share with us somethings you did to transform learning for your students and yourself during the last school year.

Middle School Social Studies Teacher in Mexico, MO
A1. I opened myself up to putting myself out there as a member of the community. Awesome group to be a part of!
A1- I have really devoted time to getting kids to feel valued.
I also opened myself up to adding a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of my students.
I teach dance classes now and have noticed that with positive reinforcements the students want to respect and perform to their best
I have too. I am also really working on starting with their strengths and moving on from there.
what are some of the positive reinforcements that you use?
That's really something I've noticed in my classes that when they themselves feel valued, they begin to value you!
A2. I am really made an effort to learn our new curriculum & how to communicate learning via with parents and students
Stickers! Even w/ the older students! I do it as an exit and it gives me a moment as each of them leave 2 encourage
a student need to want to be there if you want learning to occur.
Q2. Share with us some of your goals/plans to transform learning for your students and yourself for the current school year.
truth... have trouble w/ giving stickers to kids... from experience I found it good in short term but not long term
A2- I have been working on giving timely, meaningful feedback. I have found Google Classroom brilliant for this.
A2 pt2 Relationships build investment, and when kids are invested they are open to learning.
a2. Goals for this year is to improve communication of learning with parents and students. Also finding more time to exercise.
a2. believer in the learning journey & want to have my feedback inform student learning. I also want to show more vulnerability.
A2- relationships are everything.
a2. always goal for me. using an aboriginal circle for our class meetings... focus on getting to know each other.
Q3. How can your personal learning network (pln... aka us) help you? How can you help others?
a3. be flexible with their time... understanding... willing to jump in and share and join the conversation.
a3. I am resourceful, giving, and have a big learning network that I would be happy to do my best to connect you too.
A3- well if you build it just right you should have ppl to help all situations.

Q4. What are some challenges you foresee in achieving the goals/plans you have for yourself and your students?
A4- so happy right now my pulled it out!!!!!!! oh and that is back!!!!!!!
A4- Kids have lives too. And sometimes things in life will cause them to shut us out. Always have to work to break down the walls
a4. Some challenges I foresee is my ability to keep up with new curriculum and how i communicate it with students and parents.
A4 and then there's always the springtime lull. It's when I ALWAYS struggle to stay positive and keep on top of things
a4- a challenge i see is that we personalize but kids are not used to it. Kinda just stare at you and say "ummm".
I love that... so true! I'm working on giving less homework and giving more meaningful homework.
a4. my challenge is finding the right home and work balance. I want to feel fulfilled in all parts of my person
I have had parents come up and ask for no homework.
have tried to focus on positive each day. on 906/1000 happy days. Capturing a photo of day that makes me happy
my philosophy is where the heart is the mind follows.
Q5. Can you provide examples to your learning network on how an online connection made through chats like this has supported you
I try to live by the fact that while every day may not be good, there is good in every day.
a4. have had both. Family time should be evening time. if homework then bring family unit closer together
if on instagram you should follow me... I believe this whole heartedly.
a5. look for author to connect my class once... 5 minutes... had 3 leads... & 1 in my class the next morning
Q6. I love a good book. Can you recommend titles to your pln that are must reads & have supported your & st learning goals & themes
