I'm a former 4th grade teacher, current instructional technology coach. My favorite turkey day side dish is my mom's sweet potato casserole. SO GOOD!!! #DojoChat
Caitlin joining from Anchorage, AK. I'm with ClassDojo (former 2nd and 4th grade teacher) turned Community Leader 😊 My favorite side dish... hmmm... green bean casserole? Too hard to choose.
This is JEN from Northern California. My fav dish is something we call Pumpkin Surprise. I finally asked my Mom why it is called Pumpkin surprise a few years back and she said . . . #dojochat
Thankfulness in my classroom started with me telling each and every kid why I’m thankful for them. I model the way I want them to treat others. #DojoChat
A1: If you model gratitude/thankfulness for your students by appreciating them, they in turn start to be thankful of one another. Sometimes in 2nd grade we all need a little nudge or reminder to be thankful and that’s ok too. #dojochat
A2 I am just really thankful that I've learned to focus on each day -- that I have limited days with them and I have to make the most of every single one #dojochat
A2: I've learned that no matter thier disability, be it behavioral, cognitive, etc. they can surprise me every day by what they pick up that I put down #dojochat

A2: This year I’m grateful to have learned that my kids are even more independent and capable than I thought and I should be releasing more responsibility! They are motivated and eager to learn. Sometimes as teachers we’re afraid to let the control go. #dojochat
A2 I also learned that as my students crave autonomy -- relenquishing control to them over small things empowers them, and reduces conflict #letthekidsdoit#dojochat

A3: I've learned that i am thankful not to teach gen ed at my school right now, we dropped a letter grade and they're under so much pressure right now. I'm thankful that i live in SPED land #dojochat
A3: I realized that It’s ok to not know it all - no teacher does. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help or advice. I love that I have a community of educators to bounce ideas off of! #dojochat
A3 One insight I've had is that Kinders don't know how to use a mouse - they've used tablets all their lives. I'm thankful to know this & help fix it! #DojoChat

A3 also, I am legit excited about our school taking a deep dive on the Seven Habits of Happy Kids because it has really made my classroom more peaceful, and my students more empowered #7habits#itisasuperoldbook#dojochat
A3 I've learned to reach out for advice when I need it. As a new teacher in a new position, I was afraid to ask for help at the beginning of the year! I've learned that my coworkers are more than willing to help me out and they are probably my greatest resource! #dojochat
A1 (sorry I’m late my own children have other ideas tonight.) I teach kindergarten so I try to model saying thank you when kids show kindness or are helpers. We also thank our resource teachers before leaving their classroom for teaching us that day. #dojochat
A4: The technology! My SmartBoard went out for a couple weeks about a month ago. I said out loud, “I think I might cry.” When they fixed my board one of my kids said, “Mrs. Cáceres you didn’t even cry.” 🤣 #edtech#dojochat
#dojochat
I take for granted all the technology I have. I'm thankful to have a school-provided set of 10 Chromebooks as well as 3 additional Chromebooks gifted to me by a parent.
Q2 I am thankful for how accepting my class is. They constantly want to learn from each other about their traditions, families beliefs, languages etc. There is something so sweet about listening to their conversations. #dojochat
A5: I have 12 students in my class this year, my assistant has dubbed them our #dirtydozen, I never thought I could handle so many SPED kids all day, but I wouldn't trade a single one of them. #dojochat
A5 My reading class EXHAUSTS me -- they are most challenging readers over 1/2 the class have IEPs, but evey inch, every word they gain is a full on musical finale victory - balloons, fireworks - the whole 9 #theyworksohard#theworkisalsohard#dojochat
My current job was a challenge to get - I didn't the first time I interviewed - but was so thankful bc I wouldn't have have the time to spend with my family. #DojoChat
A3: I’ve really loved using composition notebooks this year and being able to have the kids show me their work in their own way especially with Math. I find it reaches more of my students that way and really helps reinforce outside the box thinking. #dojochat
A5: I had a behaviorally challenging class last year and feared they weren’t progressing academically. I felt like a classroom mgmt. failure. Despite it all, they made huge strides. Now I’m thankful for them and miss them terribly. They made me a better teacher. #dojochat
A6 I am a PD JUNKIE!! I'm currently taking my 2nd online class this year (Make a Yearbook Using Googleslides) and LOVE IT!!! Last year I got to go to ISTE and am praying for a miracle to be at ISTE again this year! #getyourlearnon Also #hivesummit was AMAZING #dojochat
A4: I take for granted the technology available in my classroom. I’ve really started to utilize the hover cam this year and I’m thankful for it. The kids love using it to show their work and to be the teachers. It definitely helps increase engagement. #dojochat
A6: I used to commute into NYC and my commute was atrocious. I’m thankful to have found work closer to home in a district with supportive admin that recognize all my hard work and supportive colleagues. I’m very grateful! #dojochat
Q5 I used to be a early childhood special education teacher and there were challenging days to say the least but also unbelievable wow moments. I’m so thankful I have that background now because it’s made me a better teacher and a better mom to my own special child. #dojochat
Q7... we know our answer! The teachers and passionate people we get to connect to here and in our communities around making education amazing! #dojochat
A7I love my #dojopeeps! (I'm looking at you @smithstrcs and @techytess ) . I love @classdojo and all the stuff I've learned and been able to do with them. I'm uber thankful for this side of twitter which is filled with all the good! #dojochat
A7: It’s so awesome to meet colleagues that turn into friends. So tired you can’t stand up anymore? Rather go to bed at 7pm than go out for dinner? Can’t get “Baby Shark” out of your head? Teacher friends get it. #dojochat
A6: I love opportunities that technology like twitter, Skype in the classroom, dojo, Facebook, etc have given us to connect to other educators/professionals. I have gained so many ideas, insights, professional development that I get to take back to the classroom. #dojochat
A7 I’m thankful for the awesome people I get to work with. We all gel really well together and I feel it makes a difference for our students. #dojochat
A8: I had a parent thank me for being a teacher. I don’t think I stopped smiling that day. Of all the things people have said that support meant so much! #dojochat
A8: Grateful for colleagues that scrambled to help me out when I was out sick with a fever this week. Also grateful to an admin that has so much faith in me that she asks me to present at a conference. ❤️ #dojochat
#dojochat yes that was my class last year! I’m changed some things this year because of it (my clipchart is no more) and I’m thankful I get to still see some of them in the hallway and get hugs.
A9: I always tell them I appreciate the things they do AND show them by rewarding them with dojo points whenever I catch them being amazing. (All in Spanish for parents). #dojochat
A9: I verbally will tell them thank you for... but I also try and connect with each of them in the morning as they walk in the door. They get to choose their greeting and it helps set a positive tone to the day. #DojoChat
A1: We do #ThankfulThursday where we each say something we are thankful for. Everyone participates. It goes on a whiteboard so they can look at it throughout the week. Thankfulness must be intentional! #DojoChat
#dojochat
A10 That's an easy one . . . by all the sweet messages I have been getting from them on ClassDojo this week while we are out for Thanksgiving!
I love that @ClassDojo gives us the option of using negative points or only using positive! Just another fantastic option from the best company in the game! #DojoChat
