Eric Tingle, Regional Manager @teainfo. Great to be here this evening! When I think of Christmas movies, I automatically think of Charlie Brown. Lol. #TXed

Nina from Texas! My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story... it was tradition to watch it as a family every Christmas Eve, and I love tradition! #TXed

Hi everyone, It's Patricia from Garland...Ed Consultant for R10 working with new to the profession Ts...my favorite holiday movie is It's a wonderful life.... #TXED
A1: I find that I like checking in with individual team members and get their perspective. I get better feedback that way. Often there’s something I’ve missed. #TXed
Reach outside of the typical people (or the people you thought were with you) to ask for support/to get on board with you!
And/or go at it alone full force and do so well with that new adventure that everyone else will soon want to be on board with you! #TXed
A1. This is a great time to stop, ask questions, get feedback, and figure out how everyone can get on the same page. This could happen, but when it is realized, we must make adjustments. #TXed

This is a hard one for me to answer.... which tells me one thing, I NEED to take more risks! So I am taking this opportunity to challenge myself to take more risks in the new year! #TXed
A2: My family wasn’t supportive of me pursuing a career in education. I took a risk and I couldn’t be happier. I am truly passionate about what I do and my family now sees & accepts that ♥️ #TXed
A2. Going into principalship early in my career. I was certainly informed that it was a huge risk. Lol. However, I learned a lot and was able to work with a great staff to turnaround the school. #TXed
A1: Lead anyway...stay focused, eyes on the prize and move forward...you may feel alone but in reality others are there...speak with trusted ally for feedback... #TXED
A2– I was strongly encouraged to stay with a larger school district. More money...more resources....more help....
I didn’t listen and I am so much happier at Brenham that I was for 7 years in a bigger district. Better help. Better admin. Better partners. #txed
A2: Everyone warned me that taking on a doctoral program while still being in the classroom would be too much. It has taught me to be more organized & intentional than I've ever been & bring ideas into the classroom that were completely foreign to me previously! #TXed
A2-Had a superintendent from another district tell me not to take a principal’s job; that it would be rough. May have been rough but I am having a blast working there. #TXed
A2: Leaving a great Admin team and campus to be a SAHM. My family benefitted and I returned to the classroom with greater insight and purpose.#txed#cfisdlead
A2 I haven't had too many warnings. I have had Lots of encouragement to step out of my comfort zone that has paid off! I was encouraged to present at a Tech conference outside of my district. I am not techy, but it turned out great! #TXed
A2: I’m principal of an alternative campus. I scheduled an evening event to celebrate the 9 week progress of some of our students. I had a few folks tell me we would have only a few parents show. We had a cafeteria full of parents. #TXed
A2: working with at-risk pop in ALT school...told it wouldn't be worth it too hard, "bad kids" .... best decision and created much difference in lives of all of us!!! Ss still keep in touch and let me see the amazing lives and contributions to this world a blessing #TXED
I make sure to always be honest with myself! Ask for support and help when needed and don’t be afraid to delegate tasks, when appropriate. Remember we need to do our jobs well to have the best impact on the kids, so only take on as much as can be done the right way! #TXed
A3: I’ve learned to reach out to some of my team members and faculty members. I’m so grateful to be surrounded by so many helpful and supportive educators like @terrycgarrett@PrinSilliman@MrsYelenick and more! #TXed
A3: Pray for guidance, Gather your peeps, Communicate the plan, Collaborate, then divide and conquer. Knowing the culture of your staff and your team makes this an easy process. #txed
A3: I must be honest and say this happens to me more than I would like to admit. I usually share (Read:cry/whine/bemoan) with my husband and he helps me figure out how to get it all done. Right @vest_s ?? #besthusbandever#txed
A3: at first cry LOL actually back up punt, regroup, seek help, have honest convo and set a plan in action...I also take time to reflect and spend time alone to gather myself especially if exhausted ... best to take care of self to provide best foot forward #TXED
#txed A3 Don't put yourself in a position where you are taking too much work home. ASK FOR HELP! Every school has fabulous teachers that will help out with their experience. #AlwaysBelieve
A3. I've been in this situation many times... 1. Acknowledge it! 2. Dont be afraid to ask for help. 3. Delegate and TRUST the people you delegate to. Our job is hard and often times takes MANY stakeholders around the table to get the job done. #TXed
#txed A1 In education, if you make your job about the kids, you are never alone! When you make your job about "me" then you start going upstream without a paddle. #ItsAllAboutTheKids
#txed A2 My 1st year teaching my mentor Tr told me "You can't "make" kids believe in themselves. You might want to reconsider the rule" I kept my 1st rule #AlwaysBelieve in Yourself and 28 years later I have been blessed with an unbelievable career. About to become an author!
A4: I am very good at snapping myself back into reality- I remember that I have what many others do not: I wake up to do a job that I have ALWAYS dreamed of. What more can i ask for? #TXed
I really work well with lists, and I don't really look at the whole list, just the next thing on the list. That keeps me from going off the deep end. That, and my gratitude journal! #txed
I think about the positives!! I look at all I’ve accomplished, all the students lives I’ve impacted, etc etc. I breathe, and think happy thoughts! #TXed
A4. I've learned to celebrate small victories. Track data to show Improvements or areas of growth and bite off small things at a time. We are role models for our communities and we MUST keep it together for the people who are depending on us! #TXed
A4: When I feel out of place I like to hop on Twitter for about 5 minutes and see many of my #EduHeroes in action. I also keep a photo album on my phone of some of my fav edu moments and remind myself of the good days and my purpose. #TXed
#txed A4 The key is to be POSITIVE! When you are positive you will inspire others. This will produce JOY. When you have this joy, the valleys seem to work out when you get out of them. Keep making your job about the kids.
I totally agree. Building relationships is the 1st thing that must happen, in my humble opinion. When the work gets hard, the close relationship gets us through! #TXed

A4: first I spend time in nature, list the things I am grateful for, then surround myself with positive team, read affirmation and move forward...and if I need to have a good cry I do---it's acceptable and cleanses the soul... #TXED
A4: Seek out the people who know you best, they are quick to remind you of your prior successes and lift you up...or give you a good kick in the pants to get you going again. #TXed
Sitting in our last class of our masters program is so fulfilling. The power of reflection, leadership and our @EISDofSA cohort growth continues to amaze me. @UTSA@UTSACOEHD
Parents, pastors, business & community leaders, advocates will strenuously oppose:
• Tying funding to STAAR
• Local tax caps for schools
• Cheating Pre-K
• Starving #txed
The time for political games is over.
Fund our kids’ education now.
A5: Is it memorable? Is it a teachable moment? Does it bring me and my students and staff joy? It’s okay to divert from the lesson or the agenda. Be flexible!!#txed
A5. As a principal, I use to calendar out small celebrations for the staff and students. No matter how fast time went, it was always on my calendar to NOT forget about the individuals that I serve. Plan the time ahead of time. #TXed
A5: I am very much a schedule kind of girl but sometimes you just have to play with the kids and have fun! I took the opportunity to enjoy recess with some of our LIFE skills students yesterday and it was the highlight of my week for sure! #txed
at work: I make sure to not be afraid to stray away from the plan. When the moment is right - meaningful conversation, extra engaging part of a lesson, genuine fun and laughter, etc. - let it last!
at home: relax and do more of what I love!
#TXed
#txed A5 Get your ME TIME every day. Reflect back on the blessings and have some quite time about the future. ENJOY every day. After 28 years it seems like the second hand moves quicker. Next Friday is already the 1st #TeacherMountRushmoreFriday of the year!
A5: I seem to be on a nature kick these days - sit and mediate even a few minutes each day...also "back porch" sitting, slowing the roll with good converations and taking time to reflect with close friends...even reminisce #TXED
I agree - we schedule all staff appreciation for the whole year during the summer and put them on the calendar. It is so easy to let that slip, and it’s too important. #txed

A5: stop - in the name of love & for the children. Those babies need my attention as they grow, process, and revise.
🦋 And take 5 minutes to just breath and focus on something soothing (snow falling in the mountains, for me.) And calming music. #txed
Q6: Linus and Charlie Brown saw more in the small sapling than others. Tell about a time when you saw a student’s potential when others didn’t. How did you help them reach their potential?
#TXed
#A5: I like to take walks at night w/my dog. It's really peaceful, lots of times the sky is clear, and sometimes I can hear an owl, which reminds me of one of my fave books, "Owl Moon." #txed
A6-Had a student once who was on a first name basis with me when I was an AP. We worked and worked on developing his character. Years later he came by to let me know that he would be a DPS officer #TXed
I have so many examples of this and feel so fortunate to! It is AMAZING how much seeing a student’s potential can give them exactly what they need to have a break though & let that potential shine! Think positive about your students & I PROMISE you the positive will show! #TXed

A6 I had a student today that moved up considerably in his reading level. Despite the fact he doesn't like to do high fives, He was so excited he danced around and high fived everyone! #txed

#TXed
A6: BELIEVE in a brighter future for every single one even when they cannot see it - speak it, show it, affirm it...they will rise if we set the challenge before them. Name it , claim it!! #TXED
A6. When a student goes to another teacher, they unfortunately carry a reputation, rather positive or negative. It is our responsibility to put systems in place that give students a fair chance to be successful. Let teachers know you'll support them by any means necessary. #TXed

#txed A6 There is a story about this in my book. Thought I didn't reach a 16 year old 8th grade boy, 10 years later #AlwaysBelieve finally turned his life around. #touching ps.. The Linus speech in Charlie Brown Christmas is my fav! It's in by lighting display by QR Code!
A6: as a Reading & Dyslexia Specialist, I see potential in every kid. Work toward progress each day like little drops of water that make a river - then that river created the Grand Canyon. 💦 #txed
I had a 4th grader who was crying because he couldn't read. He had been told he would never be able to read. My class and I were not believing that. They read to him daily. I worked with him daily. By the end of the year he could read, not perfectly, but he could read. #TxEd

S I had in an adaptive behavior class, was told “how tough he was, nothing works, good luck..” had him for 2yrs, saw the positive, taught him the positive.. ran into him a year later and he told me he was in all “regular classes” in HS AND star of the b-ball team! 😍 #TXed
#TXed A6 - We all do this daily when we pour ourselves into our school kids. You have to look past the present mess and see what they will become. It’s all about potential.
I agree! Speaking into being can be positive or negative! When you talk about a st and that st is right there to hear, or you tell a teen s/he is moody bc s/he's a teen, and they are "supposed to be" that is very powerful! #txed
