The #INeLearn hashtag is used for both asynchronous sharing and synchronous conversations. Include #INeLearn in your tweets if you want to share resources or questions with Indiana educators and school leaders. Asynchronously, the #INeLearn hashtag provides educators across the state of Indiana a central space for sharing. On Thursday evenings beginning at 8 CST/9 EST when you use the #INeLearn hashtag, you are joining a live conversation--the #INeLearn Twitter Chat. For one hour, we interact in real time having a virtual discussion.
Hello! I’m looking forward to co-moderating with Pam tonight! I am tech coach at #EastPorterCo and an Innovation Specialist for DOE Office of eLearning! #INeLearn
The Hour of Code is a global movement introducing students worldwide to computer science, inspiring kids to learn more, breaking stereotypes, and leaving them feeling empowered. Happy you’ve joined us to share your ideas!
We utilize the Q1 (Question 1), R1 (Response 1) #INeLearn

R1: any plan is considered coding. We plan in writing, create a logical pattern in math, have war plans we can follow in social studies, and genetic coding in science. Yeah, we CAN AND SHOULD #INeLearn
The Day 6 gift of the ICE Edvent Calendar is a super handy Chrome extension created by the 2015 ICE Teacher of the Year, Curt Schleibaum. Check out "Sir Links-a-Lot." If the name... https://t.co/PBM2N4Mqe0
Hi all! #INeLearn Jolene Bogacki, middle school technology trainer @LC_School_Corp. My deifinition of coding must be borrowed from @mres “organizing, expressing, and sharing ideas in a new way, in a new medium” #lcscedtech#12daystwitter
One of my friends from Michigan, @teambond has done some great presos on computational thinking #inelearn Here's an example of some of her resources. https://t.co/uF3wUJPlMF
R2: when Ss cm visualize their learning, we are creating multiple synapses for recollection of information. In other words, we are coding the brains of our Ss. #INeLearn

“Did you try it?” These are words I live by, and this is how computational thinking fits into any subject area-problem-solving and decision making. #INeLearn#lcscedtech#12DaysTwitter
R2: Making thinking visible provides another option for communicating and increases the transfer of information-so deeper, long term learning is taking place #INeLearn
R3 When you have to push past frustration, success feels that much sweeter. The key is knowing the line between frustration and "this isn't fun anymore." #INeLearn
R3: critical thinking skills, revisions, #FailingForward. When students have unexpected outcomes, they are truly learning. Coding usually doesn’t work the right way the first time. #INeLearn
One minor change in a code can mess up how something works. It’s like if like a mutation. Sometimes it is a good change. Sometimes it’s a bad thing. #INeLearn
"The expert in anything was once a beginner"-Bumps along the road/mistakes are part of life and good learning experiences. They allow for deeper thinking, reflection, and new action. You will never find success if you give up every time you fail! #INeLearn
R4: creativity might be equally as important as literacy. Creativity can lead to innovation. We can make new things, or make modifications to something already in existence. #INeLearn
R2: it’s important for students to SEE actions causing reactions. If-then. Following directions, closely, becomes more meaningful. #INeLearn#lcscedtech#12DaysTwitter
Q4: Creativity drives the learning the process. Children are naturally curious but if we don't foster curiosity/creativity it can be lost. Allow for open-ended discovery learning. #INeLearn

R4: Creativity is extremely important. Students need to be able to be creative to solve problems in the future or work in jobs in the future that don't even exist yet. We live in a world where info is so easily accessible, it is important to create, not just reiterate #INeLearn
R5: problem solving. This skill is one that our Ss do not do well with. Looking at issues with coding, making modifications. Looking at how one change can affect everything. #INeLearn
A5 Coding necessitates the problem solving process... Define, prepare, try, reflect. Once students understand a model for problem solving, they can start to apply it to a variety of contexts. #INeLearn#CSforIN
Q4 & 5 Literacy and problem solving are very important Many of our students will have job that is not created. Ss will create, communicate, and problem solve the new tech and jobs #inelearn

R6 Today I watched Ss build worlds together using @BloxelsBuilder. It was fun to watch their creative ideas meld together into something amazing. #INeLearn
R6: I have seen coding lead to Ss taking on multiple tasks within a group. One S might see something that others do not. Ss then may see how this one change affects another outcome. It leads to open dialogue within a group, ultimately leading to success. #INeLearn
R4: I feel like creativity and choice are one in the same, in many ways. The more choice we give students, the more invested they become and more deeply they learn. #INeLearn#lcscedtech#12DaysTwitter
R6: the collaboration in a coding activity is real! Students get into this and you rarely hear any disagreements. It's fun to listen to those conversations. #INeLearn
Q6: Students love helping "teaching" each other-increases their self-esteem. Students know I can't help everyone so they quickly begin helping "teaching" each other. #INeLearn
A6 Two heads are always better than one. Pair programming can not only facilitate greater efficiency, but also heightened creativity and innovation! #INeLearn#CSforIN
Q4: Also Creativity is the heart of critical thinking, problem solving and innovation but can be lost as Ss if they don't feel safe, supported, and accepted. #INeLearn
R7: I just purchased Arduino equipment through a grant from @LTSFoundation. I plan on using this with my bio Ss to explain transcription, translation, and mutations with DNA. My physics kids will use it with their electronics unit. #INeLearn
R6: Students have to be such better teammates when they code. Once they experience the reward of solving together, it clicks so easily on how to work smarter TOGETHER. #INeLearn#lcscedtech#12DaysTwitter
R8: BASIC was a coding language that worked well with DOS. I remember doing this in grade school and in HS. Coding today is more complex, but the concept is still the same. As we become more and more dependent on tech, Ss must know how to program. #INeLearn
R7: this may sound silly, but Code-a-Pillars are so much fun with littles. K-4 offline CS days make me so excited about what the future will bring to our schools! If kids can begin to understand code, problem solve,& communicate that young... #INeLearn#lcscedtech#12DaysTwitter

I get to spend the summers working with Notre Dame Office of Civic Innovation. We hire 25 college interns and 5 high school interns each summer. We are growing with numbers and projects. #IneLearn I'd love to talk to you more about it. Call anytime
R8 This is EXACTLY what we did when we built apps last yr. Ss had to THINK about the target-user and DESIGN based upon their needs. I had one S who built an app to sell the fishing lures he creates. We used @MITAppInventor for this project. #INeLearn
WU: We've spent the last two days enjoying our classroom CS Playground. Ss completed a survey today to determine how we will proceed for the rest of the yr. #INeLearn
There is more to learning than just taking notes or working online to answer questions on a worksheet. Being creative with how conte t is taught or how Ss demonstrate their knowledge is where coding can play a huge part. Looking forward to learning and sharing. #INeLearn
Thanks for unwrapping The Gift of Coding with us! Special thank you to @dianargill and @risky4 for their leadership in tonight's chat. Finish #CSEdWeek strong and be sure to share what you're doing with us! #INeLearn Good night!
