I am Melissa, from PA. We have had rain - rain - and more rain! I am an online tech coach. Happy to be helping to moderate the 1pm ET session #ETCoaches
A1: Praise and appreciate educators' non-tech instructional strengths. Bring coffee and food. Get to know your people. Relationships matter. #ETCoaches
A: 1 Help them with tech they are required to use (gradebook) and in doing so share a snipit of an Instructional Tech strategy. Laugh and have fun learning. #ETCoaches
I really like this. First, it shows that you are willing to take the extra step in the work to create the screencast. Second, it is less intimidating and they can view at their convenience. #ETCoaches
A2: I found that they like quick, precise directions. Click here, click here. This helps them build skill confidence fast and allows them to move on to application with confidence. #ETCoaches
A1: Figure out what matters most to them. Hear out the rationale behind the resistance. It's rarely just a "will gap". There's typically a skill building opportunity waiting to be discovered.

A2: Offer to model with their class, be there as a support as they get started. Praise the process and the instructuonal wins they have, while learning more about where your support will fit best
Q3: Get in the classroom and help them with the tech and the students. Sometimes they just need to see you are there to help not train. The trust builds from there and they ask for help. #ETCoaches
A3: It's a common misconception, even with tech users. I am transparent about my motives- supporting them as they support our Ss and try very hard to leave the judgement home. Judgement closes off the relationship.

A4: Go with!! When we travel down a new road together, it feels safer. Sometimes Ts just need someone alongside them to feel more courageous.
A4: also being transparent about taking risks. I have failed publicly often and it just helps the Ts I support see that trying again is ok. Nothing you do is going to result in blowing up a computer (usually!) Click and see... don't be afraid
#ETCoaches
A5: purposeful use. We live with tech. Learning is part of life. Tech fits. Finding out what the real fear is- engagaement? Skill mastery? Noise?- and then designing learning experiences to address the real issue
#ETCoaches
A5: Know which tools will support learning with seamless implementation. @quizizz@Socrative can quickly engage students and provide instant feedback. Model that while working Ts. #ETCoaches
Q6: Teachers can feel like the poopmoji if they view technology as one more thing on their overflowing plate of instructional duties. How might we address this concern? #ETCoaches

A6. I think if teachers see how technology can HELP them and SAVE time it is a winner! For example, without @todoist I would forget half of my life :) And you can take a few minutes to set to recurring and never have to type a schedule again! @Seesaw helps communicate. #ETCoaches
A6: Start with timesavers and high returns, tech that really improves quality of life. And when asking Ts to learn something new, consider the plate. Can something be reorganized or scaled back to allow for new headspace to learn?

I think I feel like this a lot overall!!! I can imagine how those who don't feel comfortable with tech feel, since I generally understand what I am doing - just have too many tabs open in the brain! #ETCoaches - lol.

A7: Goes back to what matters most to Ts. Finding ways to support their WHY and to connect them with Student Centered Learning will make space for the tech to be introduced. Ongoing support in the journey. No one time hits

Maybe I should make this my motto - haha... I literally have 5 open right now and I ONLY opened tabs related to this chat. I usually have 30+ #ETCoaches

Thank you for sharing. My takeaways - LESS TABS OPEN, find tools to save time, be a team player more than a "coach" in their classrooms. Thank you all! #ETCoaches
