A1: In Texas we have 28 minutes of halftime. That provides plenty of time for coaches to come down from the press box and meet with the O and D staff all together, and with the team #TXHSFBCHAT
Both school bands play. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Sometimes that break provides the step back the team and coaches need to reevaluate the attack #TXHSFBCHAT
Yes, defensively we always eval. Tendencies from our film breakdown through @Sky_Coach from first half compared to Sunday breakdown then we look at “big plays” allowed and any adjustments we may need. Calls that work/didn’t work #TXHSFBCHAT
First 5mins coaches talk adjustments and what worked what didn't. Then we go Offense defense group meeting. Full team call up back to the field #TXHSFBCHAT
A2. Yes, HC talks to staff gives his thoughts. OC/DC discuss adjustments with staff. Then we come back together. OC/DC narrow focus to 2-3 things to tell kids on each side of the ball
#TXHSFBCHAT
Q2: O staff and D staff meet and discuss what works, and what we can scrap. No real set time limit, because we do have almost 30 minutes. Then we go and tell our positions and make direct adjustments with them. 7 minutes left, team talk, go out and get loose #TXHSFBCHAT
A3) How are they adjusting to our offensive formations or defensive alignment. What are they doing different from what they did on film? Are they staying true to their tendencies? #TXHSFBCHAT
A3) What plays are working for us and what plays are working for them? Which individual player on offense and defense is causing us problems? #TXHSFBCHAT
A4. I address the Offense as a unit. 2-3 adjustments. Other offensive coaches will make adjustments with their position groups later as needed. I will talk to QB before going back to press box
#TXHSFBCHAT
A4: Defense talks to the entire unit, offensively, we talk to each position. Gives the coaches opportunity to get more direct feedback from the kids they coach and provide pointed instruction and encouragement #TXHSFBCHAT
A4) Allow the HC to address the whole team. Then break out into individual, then group, then unit then back to team. For small schools that go both ways...HC, Defense Indi, Group, Unit, Offense Indi, Group, Unit then back HC. #TXHSFBCHAT
A5) Most important is to coach up your kids during halftime. They need coaching not 20 minutes of lecturing. If you're up, play so they can't catch up. If you're down, play with urgency and execute the halftime adjustments. #TXHSFBCHAT
