Hi Jerry and thank you for sharing your page.
Hi All! I can't wait to explore new possibilities for literacy in NJ schools in the new year. My is "possibility."
Hello, friend! Glad you are here too!
We did a one word activity with Ts today at school. Mine is “simplify”.
Hi - Jody from Quebec. Happy New Year to all my friends!
Greetings from Ireland.Kevin here a Teaching Principal of multi class in a small rural school
Q1: Will you have your Ss make New Year’s resolutions for 2016? If so how will they do so?
Hi everyone Desiree from MI
Hi, Jody! How are you this fine Monday?
We made them today for math and some even made them for reading. Wrote down and will review each month
A2: I’m digging the . Thinking I might try it with the Ss to see what words they use.
Hi Jenn! I am awesome. How did Monday treat you?
Hi Desiree! How's the weather up there? Any snow?
A1: I see the new year as September when school starts here in NJ. Now that it's January, let's reflect on the past and set goals!
hi! We had some earlier today but it was melted by the time school was over!
. It was great- records day for us, so not students until tomorrow! Got to catch up a bit!
A:1 Ss will learn about and discover strengths before brainstorming ideas to focus on for the year. Then
A1: Like the idea of goals to work towards rather than resolutions. Can work towards goal, not fail if don't remember for a week.
Rats! I am still waiting. I have hung every snowflake I can find up in my classroom! lol
Well, hello, Amy! How are you?
A1: My Ss will work on this first before writing resolutions (or goals) New Year's Resolutions: Good or Bad https://t.co/paIsaSKV3q
A1. Today they each made one school and one non-school goal, their plan, then drew a picture of them reaching their goal.
Always nice to have some time. Go back Wed. to a Pedagogical Day (contract includes day after Xtmas break is always)
For my , I am choosing Focus! Tune out distractions!
“Connections” solve more math tasks on more mystery skypes & voxer to help kids see beyond walls
Hi Louise. Glad you are joining us for .
Brilliant! Should we share a blog to share all of our thoughts?
Awesome! No doubt you have amazing things planned! Can't wait to hear all about them!
Q2: How often should we revisit resolutions (or goals) of Ss have set? How can we encourage them?
Q1My New Years Resolution is for Teachers to teach from the heart and not from the workbook. It leads to lifelong learning
My is connection! Great activity for students.
I found that
https://t.co/KQm1w0lCKo was open and we call all post there- would that work? DM me yr email if you want to join!
A2: I will do activity with Ss and create a word cloud from their words. Display and chat bat weekly.
A2: Individual conferences with Ss provide a great opportunity for tracking goals and progress. It also helps to build stamina.
Review & reflect on resolutions/goals monthly. I did it around holidays. See: My Goals page https://t.co/79KpjjWI5X
A:2 dedicate time for reflection. Allow Ss to assess viability and tweak when necessary. Celebrate success and share w/ others
A2: Timeframe depends on the goals. Ideal: portfolio & Ss add work whenever pertinent to their goal -ongoing reflection, but hard.
As a Principal I encourage staff to teach from the heart, take risks, engage with Ss and be kind
Q3: What things does your school have in place to share Ss successes?
Jody, that would be so perfect if we could do that. Time can be our enemy.
A:3 we can always share success with our principal. She has an amazing repoirte with Ss and celebrates with them
A3: At Rutgers we started a Reading Club across schools in NJ to celebrate reluctant readers and the gains they make
Thinking starting slow chat for classes with Twitter accnts. 1st topic class word cloud? Takers?
A3: We send “Good News” to principal to be read on PA for mornings announcements. Kids love hearing their names.
A3: Love when na Ss asks “Will this be announced tomorrow?”
This is a great idea, Jody. Yes, let’s do it. https://t.co/Eo7jZs8z3J
Thinking starting slow chat for classes with Twitter accnts. 1st topic class word cloud? Takers?
Hopping in late. Hey -ers! I'm Nate from Nebraska. Elementary Integration Specialist.
A:2 also have Ss make a bookmark with the word. One year I had Ts design wooden spoons from book Soup and word
A3: We recently began positive office referrals. Kids love seeing the principal for good reasons.
Ok, let's. Assume 1st topic is & word clouds are ideal way to share. I'll put out the question tomorrow or Wed.
Q4: How can we involve Ps in our resolution/goal setting activities that we do with our Ss?
My Tweeting Buddy tonight! He sends “treats” to the class when they’ve been successful @ reaching a goal. https://t.co/FbxK4ucpRO
Thanks, Jodi. This will be great.
This is good too. Class could share a pic of their collected bookmarks instead of word cloud
We share our successes with community...website, blogs, presentations...focus is always making our work public
That sounds awesome. Please keep us updated.
That’s a great idea! Love using .
A:4 model language, open the window to the classroom, ask Ps to share goals, and share information about
Padlet is a great idea - Good thinking Jenn!
All who want to share their or those of their students, you are welcome to post here on Padlet! https://t.co/3U3B0hMGi9
Thanks, Jenn. I added my to the .

Yes, I’m having issues too. HNY, Jody. Later.
A4:Ask students to set a measureable goal with parents for their home, after learning how to set a personal goal, and a class goal.
Great resource for learning about goals, Paula! Thanks for sharing.
Great share! Thanks! Ts decided we’re implementing a recess walking group. optional, but we need to walk too.
Yeah! I think Ss will have fun with this one tomorrow!
Wow! That's one way to get kids to FOCUS!
Sorry that I was slow with questions for this . Fighting stomach cramps. Hope it passes soon. Excited to see my Ss tomorrow.
The chat on 1/7 :30PST will be focusing on Math Strategies for the New year if anyone wants to join in.
