Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
Oh yes, absolutely. I'm originally from Boston, MA and this cold week we've had has been relatively mild. Everyone's hoping for a few snow flakes today too. #bookcamppd
A1 funny enough, I tried out #Flipgrid in a class of 28 - every kid talking into their chromebook at once -- noisy, but everyone got involved and the recordings came out great #BookCampPD
A1) I teach in a completely online & asynchronous environment. Ss share ideas & ?s via comments on GDocs. Share links to their docs via Padlet walls in each lesson. #BookCampPD
#BookCampPD Good morning from N. TX - temps in the 40's but everyone is freaking out about the possibility of it being in the 20's over the next few days. :) I teach 1st grade. :)
A1. When you have the students who never raise their hand because they have to process things a slower- tech gives them the opportunity to think before they reply! Like @flipgrid, @Screencastify, @padlet! #bookcamppd
Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A1: Since I teach both business and tech. I love using @Flipgrid for students to have a voice. To become more comfortable with speaking and presentation. They can do it from class or on their phones at home. #BookCampPD
A1: My favorite ex was when I made a breakthrough w/ a selective mute in my class- her VOICE came through on the screen & I was able to engage w/ her in ways that were impossible previously when I encountered a similar student year before-True Redefinition of #SAMR#BookCampPD
This is a great place to do it, Ian! I was in Sydney and Melbourne in April ... didn't make it over to Perth but one of the breakfast radio shows there interviewed me about #DitchHW. Beautiful place you live! #bookcamppd#ditchbook
My one "problem" w/ some of these tech-tools is that if I want Ss to respond to each other, we haven't figured out a way so that they get an alert "Hey, Billy responded to me!" ya know? #BookCampPD
In reply to
@Stella_Pollard, @Flipgrid, @Screencastify, @padlet
A1: One of my all time favorites is to have Ss create online writing cafes, which allows them to share, read, and comment on their peers writing in ways they would never have done in person. #BookCampPD#kidsdeserveit#ditchbook
Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A1: My students panic when they hear “presentation”! But if I tell them we’re going to create #BookSnaps or Google Slides, they’re like, “Oh yeah, we got this!” #bookcamppd
Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A1. Our students' iPads allow them to complete thinking routines, evaluations, brainstorms, and to contribute ideas, at their own pace using Padlet, Google Docs, and my fave - Google Forms #BookCampPD
Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A1b. This also gives learners a chance to experience a deeper level of thinking! I love using G Suite because the students can be creative with it (loved this weeks episode of #gttribe w/@wterral about this topic).
I also adore how edtech makes S choice easier #bookcamppd
A1: When you say, “It’S UP TO YOU!” Students of all types of personalities can thrive. Offering choice through technology is the great equalizer! The shy student might thrive demonstrating their learning with talking avatar, an iMovie, a comic strip, etc. #BookCampPD
A1) Technology provides opportunity to express & share learning in various ways - written form via blogs, media form - creating infographic, video, animations to explain the content, gives the ability to share with the world and to learn via collaboration #bookcampPD
I am beyond excited to see everyone! What a fantastic way to head out of 2017 and into 2018! A GOOD MORNING to all who have joined us that I may have missed. We are so very happy to see you! #bookcamppd
A1 funny enough, I tried out #Flipgrid in a class of 28 - every kid talking into their chromebook at once -- noisy, but everyone got involved and the recordings came out great #BookCampPD
#flipgridfever@Flipgrid has been great too for HWs where Ss can do a quick voice-over instead of physically writing. Easy enough to do from their phones! #BookCampPD
A1 One of my 4th grade Rdg Ss is very quiet, shy, never smiling. He comes alive when he posts on #Seesaw. He chooses the video option and smiles, is very expressive and engaging! #BookCampPd
A1: Tech can remove that barrier that anxiety of speaking in front of the class presents for so many. An online discussion board can open doors for a lot of students #BookCampPD

A1 “Shy” is how we label students who aren’t willing, able, or ready to open up. We can offer new platforms like Padlet and Flipgrid, AND we can teach them how to notice when opening up matches their own values. #BookCampPD
That's why I really like commenting in Google products. They should get notifications if someone comments on their work or replies to their comments. #BookCampPD

Maybe a Google Doc/ Google Slide for whole class collaboration? If the Ss leave a comment with the “+https://t.co/WHQOOOAXAu” then they’ll get an email alert when they’re mentioned. #bookcamppd
In reply to
@MsGrotrian, @Flipgrid, @Screencastify, @padlet
A1: Love @Flipgrid but still had to work with many shy students. But continuing to help students connect with a passion, & develop projects meant for world consumption can help empower Ss to overcome #BookCampPd
We use Google Docs, Slides, or Sheets for that reason, then Ss can tag each other or assign a teacher a task to alert us to a comment or question. #BookCampPD

@MsGrotrian, @Stella_Pollard, @Flipgrid, @Screencastify, @padlet
A1: From my book #DitchBook:
Had a very shy student named "Kay". Didn't / wouldn't / couldn't participate out loud in class.
Opened up discussions via @TodaysMeet. Saw a whole new side of her. Saw what made her tick. It was fascinating! #bookcamppd#ditchbook
Q2. "To an extent, our role in education has shifted from teacher to virtual learning travel guides." (pg. 37) Why is it important to embrace this mindset? Please share examples of how your thinking has changed! #BookCampPD
#bookcamppd It definitely helps. I have students who will never raise their hand - but will use Kahoot, Answer Garden, etc. It helps with 100% engagement.
A1: In the past, I have used kidblog with students. This has allowed them to answer questions, academic and personal, in a safe environment. #BookCampPD
believe it or not, my Ss are scared of flipgrid.. embarrassed to share their videos with the class. Have you had this? How have you avoided it? #bookcampPD
In reply to
@Stella_Pollard, @Flipgrid, @Screencastify, @padlet
A1: I love using #Padlet for students to share ideas or as an “exit ticket” strategy. Another great tool that keeps student answers anonymous is @PearDeck. Takes your #GoogleSlides presentations to another level #BookCampPD
Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD

Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A1.1. I have 80 kids in a room by myself. I can't hear everyone. Many of the students that I thought were struggling are doing really well. (and vice versa) @Flipgrid has really allowed me to at least monitor and motivate those kids. #bookcamppd
A2 I think I've always felt more like a guide than a teacher in the classroom - I teach American History so I feel like the materials is all "THERE," it's up to us to interpret what happened! #BookCampPD
So true - a global truth! My 8th graders participate so much more when we are doing a Google Hangout with someone across the country/world. Fear of rejection is less and they see that nerves are universal! #BookCampPD

A1 This one gets me excited! Perfect example was a lesson w/ HS Ss. They reflected in a medium of their choosing: sketchnote, writing, or adobe spark post. All were added to a padlet for sharing with the 🌎. Lots of engagement from all, even the ELs and shy ones. #BookCampPD
Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A2. The guide encourages my own creativity and curiosity, problem solving and collaborative team work which are traits that would take any learner to explore new adventures in life. #BookCampPD
Have a new student this year who rarely talked. But her personal @Flipgrid grid gave me a glimpse into her humor and personality. Now less shy in classroom #BookcampPD
A1: My 1st graders 💙 using @Flipgrid in our classroom to share their learning & collaborate w/ others! Everyone has a chance to share their voice! We even use it to connect & learn w/ other classes! #BookcampPD

Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A1 Using some music specific resources like @SmartMusic with @OneNoteEDU to deliver content, allow reflection, provide mutliple opportunities for assessment and create a portfolio all in one. #bookcamppd
Ooh! That reminds me! Our 4th graders do a Texas Wax Museum and we had a S with social anxiety. We were prepared for her to record her speech, but after memorizing it, she actually did it w/o the recorded video! #BookCampPd
A2: It’s not about “giving” students information, it’s about helping them to discover things, evaluate sources, and make informed decisions!! #bookcamppd
Q2. "To an extent, our role in education has shifted from teacher to virtual learning travel guides." (pg. 37) Why is it important to embrace this mindset? Please share examples of how your thinking has changed! #BookCampPD
A1. Tech can level the playing field for all Ss. I certainly wasn't shy but I often held back answering for fear I had the "wrong" answer. Now with tech tools Ss can respond w/o risks. #bookcamppd
A1: Using tech means Ss don't always have to be in front of the classroom to present information. My students finished up a project before break smashing Screencastify and @Flipgrid to make a ninety second tutorial on historical topic
#BookCampPD

A2) There is so much information out there that Ss can access on their own. However, they need support w/ evaluating information//sources, effectively searching, synthesizing information, etc. #BookCampPD
YES! and it gives them a chance to find out without everyone seeing their "name"! You can mention a good answer, and suddenly several confused Ss are re-doing theirs - learning in action. #bookcamppd
I did one myself. Acted like a fool. Was passionate about #flipgridfever and gave them the option of @Flipgrid or @padlet. Some Ss are extroverts and needed that voice and some are just too shy. #bookcamppd

A1 The best use of tech for “shy” students is any system etc that allows them to participate without drawing attention to themselves. Text an answer to the teacher ( or any other platform that allows a student to respond )! #bookcamppd@DynamicDuda338#Wondertwins
A1: one S who does not talk, even torturous in small groups, will read aloud on @Seesaw so I can keep tabs on his reading fluency. He will even comment on his errors or understanding! The power of being behind the screen for some kiddos! #bookcamppd
LOVE this answer.
Defeating anxiety of public speaking is one thing.
Empowering students to show what they've learned is another.
Which do you REALLY want to do, especially since it's so hard to do both? #bookcamppd#ditchbook

A1: Students introduced and shared interests about themselves using a Google Drawing and Bitmojis they made of themselves. Some of my most introverted Ss put so much time and energy into these. #BookCampPD
Yes, they can reply to each other w/ the paid version - but I'm not sure that they get an "alert" -- either way, it's a terrific platform!! #BookCampPD

A1: Besides @Flipgrid & @Seesaw for student voice, my students also love to use creation tools & app-smash Such As QR codes with @MyTalkingPet & @ChatterPixIt. Quieter kids love to disguise their voice! #bookcamppd
A1: Video is great for this. WeVideo and greenscreen can fire up the imagination and give kids a real voice literally and figuratively. Podcasting also great #BookCampPD
A2: I don’t have @jmattmiller books yet but I think his quote refers to being a guide and facilitator of learner than the traditional role of teacher as expert. When every teacher assumes students are all blank slates we go nowhere fast! #BookCampPD
This doesn't surprise me as a HS teacher. Most of my Ss (I teach fully online) do NOT share video of themselves w/ other Ss. They are happy to share written comments, though. #BookCampPD

A2: I wish I had a travel guide T growing up! It’s important because we are preparing our students to think for themselves instead of just regurgitating information. We are giving them the life skill of applying what the know instead of just getting a slight grasp #bookcamppd
Thanks Matt A1. Allowing students to record their presentation, this has allowed some students to share their work without going through the torture of getting in front of the class. #BookCampPD
A2) The future is not about compliance or raw knowledge, but about what we do with our learning to create a positive impact within our community. By modeling the qualities of critical thinkers, we communicate to Ss, the importance of being lifelong reflective learners #bookcamppd
A2: Interesting premise. I have not reached that level of tech integration and I must admit I am noticing a funny pattern of kids choosing the none tech options for responses more and more. I wonder if this is pushback for all the tech they have outside school. #BookCampPD
Q2. "To an extent, our role in education has shifted from teacher to virtual learning travel guides." (pg. 37) Why is it important to embrace this mindset? Please share examples of how your thinking has changed! #BookCampPD

Q2. "To an extent, our role in education has shifted from teacher to virtual learning travel guides." (pg. 37) Why is it important to embrace this mindset? Please share examples of how your thinking has changed! #BookCampPD
A2: What do you think? I love asking my students this question when they come to me wanting an answer. It’s a simple way to encourage students to explore, dig deeper, and guide their own learning. #BookCampPD
A1: @Seesawallows all students to respond. Then we use the class Seesaw blog for students to share their work with others. Even the shyest Ss can put themselves out there. #Studentvoice#bookcamppd
A2 Students have access to so much information now without our help. We need to be facilitators and coaches in helping them process that and use it in standard AND unique ways #bookcamppd
A1- We love using @padlet and @flip grid for student voice. The students love using @padlet like a twitter stream for book club discussions. #BookCampPd
A2: We can do better than the traditional teacher model (stand and deliver, sit and grade).
Students can own their learning. They don't need to wait on us. Learning like that is EMPOWERING! #bookcamppd#ditchbook
A2 I see myself more as a real-world travel guide than a virtual travel guide. Students need to revalue their own experiences, communities, relationships, creativity, and collective wisdom. That provides much more satisfying learning than consuming online resources. #BookCampPD
A2: Goes to thinking that if it's a young student, they know digital tools better than the teacher. While true in some instances, some know more about sending a text than applying their tools. I had an Ss that never heard of different markets before #BookCampPD
A2: YouTube is ready to replace those who just deliver content. Teaching students creativity, critical thinking, and opening them up to new worlds with technology has become increasingly important. #BookCampPD

Flipgrid allows kids to formulate their answers and re-record if they don’t like it. Working in a collaborative slide deck (or doc) also allows kids time to think. Socrative and Padlet allow for a low stress answer for all. #BookCampPD
Q1. “Technology provides outlets that even the shyest students feel comfortable enough to be themselves.” (pg. 19) What would this look like in a learning environment? Please share examples. #BookCampPD
A2: Since getting 1:1 devices in gr 3-5 they've mostly been used for math and L.A. games, testing, and research, there is a huge world to explore out there for Ts and Ss. Working on the shift!! #LeadLap#Ditchbook#bookcamppd

A1: introverted students can find a voice when they have a choice of how to use it. It may be in a wiki, blog, chat, or even with a digital short movie. #BookCampPd#Ditchbook

I have found that showing Austin’s Butterfly is great for Ss: https://t.co/7taP6t4HOw. Showcasing positive feedback, then modeling, helps break down shyness barriers from those who fear exposure. #bookcamppd
A2: The world Ss need to be prepared for has changed. Not only do Ss need academic knowledge, but they need to know how to persevere, collaborate and innovate. #BookCampPD

A2: I used to think “good teaching” looked like it did when I was in school. Now, I know that the best learning is messy, exploratory, and has no T standing in the front of the room! #bookcamppd

A2) The future is not about compliance or raw knowledge, but about what we do with our learning to create a positive impact within our community. By modeling the qualities of critical thinkers, we communicate to Ss, the importance of being lifelong reflective learners #bookcamppd
A2: We can do better than the traditional teacher model (stand and deliver, sit and grade).
Students can own their learning. They don't need to wait on us. Learning like that is EMPOWERING! #bookcamppd#ditchbook
Q2. "To an extent, our role in education has shifted from teacher to virtual learning travel guides." (pg. 37) Why is it important to embrace this mindset? Please share examples of how your thinking has changed! #BookCampPD
A2: When I went #blended in my class I spend more time talking to each Ss, building relationships with them. Admins would walk into my room and not be able to find me, I was with my students engaged like they were, enjoying the same experience #BookCampPD
A2. We help them discover a destination. How they get there is the journey. We have all been on a journey and taken side trip along the way. These side trips are usually just as fun and memorable as the main destination! LET THEM SWERVE! #bookcamppd
Good Morning and Happy Holidays to all who have joined us for this amazing discussion with the fabulous @jmattmiller ! welcome X a million! #bookcamppd
A3. I ebb and flow with using different types of platforms. None of them suit my needs all of the time. I reach for whichever one helps me best accomplish the task, quickly. #BookCampPD
A3 #BookCampPD I definitely try to share out as much as possible on Twitter and Instagram - my kids love seeing posts of themselves working on my public Instagram account!
Students and teachers can learn together! So many teachers feel they need to be an expert before they can teach a subject. When it comes to tech the stu may know more than he teacher ( Minecraft , coding etc) #BookCampPD@DynamicDuda338#Wondertwins
A2: There’s so much to learn beyond our 4 walls! This year, I’ve embraced the idea of global collaborations & made it a mission to connect w/ Ts & Ss around the 🌎! Ss are having a blast connecting & learning from others! #BookCampPD
Truth. I don't assume anything. I make screencasts to show Ss how to set up GDrive & GDocs, how to comment, how to post on a Padlet wall, how to submit work in Canvas. If they don't need the info, they don't have to watch but it's there if they need it. #BookCampPD
A2: Goes to thinking that if it's a young student, they know digital tools better than the teacher. While true in some instances, some know more about sending a text than applying their tools. I had an Ss that never heard of different markets before #BookCampPD
A3: I love sharing Via Twitter and my blog (https://t.co/ryElLIa04y). I’m excited to try new things with presenting PD as well, like Voxer, Twitter chats, and Facebook groups! Hoping to continue to make PD more attainable for Ts! #bookcampPD#4OCF
A2: Our students experience our world virtually every day through games, movies, ipads, etc. Teachers should guide Ss, & show the wonderful ways to use this tech as creators & world citizens. #BookCampPD
A3. Love how this school is helping guide students with baby steps toward creating Tweets. Place written form into box and an adult posts for them on school web site. Students share what they are doing, and, as they get older, they will quickly master positive use. #BookCampPD
A2a: Ss come to me with things they have learned to do via Youtube... this is how our kids learn. Teaching them to navigate what they find online with a critical mind will be key to our future in ed. #bookcamppd
A2 Technology needs to be embraced, it's a 21st century skill necessary to all. We need to be student guides to help and encourage students to use these tools. #BookCampPD
A3: I love sharing on TWITTER, of course because I am addicted. Love listening to podcasts. Love reading blogs. I Love participating in voxer chats.
I also host at #TechoTuesday with @TheStephenKeys at our school to share with our colleagues. #bookcamppd
#bookcamppd The efficiency of #googleclassroom has added so much to the efficiency of #learning in and out of the #classroom; not sharing anything new, just so pleased to continue to have this as a tool
My students are frequently 'fact checking' me as I speak in class... love it! Leads to great discussions and I encourage them to do it. Sometimes, they find more up to date info than I have and sometimes I give them up to date or corrective info #BookcampPD
A3) for Ss seesaw, Padlet,flipgrid..Twitter, I have a wordpress blog. One of my goals is to start making some tutorials on YouTube for scrapbooking digitally using photoshop.#bookcampPD
When I create assignments, particularly projects, I try to incorporate technology of some kind into it to expose my students to different tools. With how tech changes, they'll use different ones after they leave my class, but learning to use new tech is a vital skill #BookCampPD
In my mind q2 & q4 connect. We can offer so much more as collaborators. We share ideas with each other, offering our Ss more than a single set of ideas #BookCampPD
A3: I've loved blogging for years, because ...
-- Helps me catalog my ideas
-- Shows growth/change over time
-- Gives back to other teachers
-- Helps improve classrooms you'll never see
-- Serves as creative outlet.
#bookcamppd#ditchbook
A2 This mindset is important because Ss need to experience how to collaborate, seek out answers on own, try/fail then try again. Hard to do if learning is T delivered. #BookCampPD
Twitter! However, not all of my colleagues are on Twitter, so I’ve created an internal Google Site to curate PD opportunities and tech/pedagogy tips. #BookCampPD
A2b: Kids WANT to learn by watching videos, discussing, creating online... why not embrace these digital tools to engage all learners? What is there to loose? Ss are excited to learn and ask each day... what are we posting today? #bookcamppd
A3: Twitter has been a wonderful form of professional development! Really enjoying #BookSnaps. One of my goals this year is to write blog entries more often. #bookcamppd
A2.2. No matter how much tech we have, nothing can replace a great teacher. And just using tech does not make you a great teacher. Be open minded and flexible. There might be more than 1 way to get the "correct" answer. #bookcamppd
Q2: I think this goes back to my favorite quote from #ditchsummit "Our students are tech dependent but not tech savvy." We need to be guides to help them learn the right skills and how to go deeper into all the technology. #bookcamppd
A3 I've also been asked to share on more broad spectrums like @eschoolnews and PTS-Barat on how I've used Google Forms - have about 3 articles written! #BookCampPD
A3: @Twitter Rocks! However, I loved embedding @padlet into @edpuzzle videos, for Ss to share learning points or ask questions. Proud teacher moments occurred when Ss answered other Ss questions on the Padlet.#BookCampPd
Q4. "Never before have so many resources been available, and tomorrow, there will be more." (pg 116) Please reflect on and share your thoughts about this quote. #BookCampPD
#Bookcamppd I just want #Twitter to have spellcheck or an editing feature! I know I have to proof my work before I tweet, but sometimes my enthusiasm gets in the way!
I like having Flipgrid for students to share their work. I use a Wix webpage to share what I'm doing in my classroom.
https://t.co/dOCflxKzPY#BookCampPD
A3: To keep up w/ the rdg & stay grounded in practice for my doc work, I have created The Book Fort, a literacy newsletter to showcase Ss, Ts, Ed Tech tools & prof. books. Took a break for xmas, but here's the latest @SmorePageshttps://t.co/dDuPPrk5sb#BookCampPD
a2. TBH this is one of those ideas that sounds amazing in our little TwitterEdu Utopia. The reality is that few Ts are able to pull this off effectively. Even my best Ts struggle to do this.
Too big a shift?
Not enough support from me?
#BookCampPD
A3 We’re in a “Just start sharing now” culture that often doesn’t consider the ethics of sharing. How will the audience benefit? Why will the time they spend viewing, thinking about, and using it be worthwhile? Are they a passive audience or are we in conversation? #BookCampPD
A3. Depending on the audience-- Twitter, my class pages on our LMS, & mostly for my service/community partnership role-- an official school Instagram Account. Not a platform, but really enjoying presenting at conferences, & have one coming up in Feb. #BookCampPD
A3: This is something I need to get better at! Honestly, I share with my team in PLC or on ClassDojo. Need to work on sharing out with others to help others build their resources. #BookCampPD
The Magic of this is the collaboration. Even if it's seeing what another T has done & remixing it for your Ss... son much better than isolation. Iron sharpens iron right? #bookcamppd
A4. When I began in education every resource was in the T.E. or from another teacher (but their doors were usually shut) - no Internet - we sure have come a LONG way! #BookCampPD
A3 Google classroom, @Flipgrid, @Seesaw, Remind. I like to share photo albumns of activities and events in class with parents by creating Google Photo albumns and sharing the link too. #BookCampPD
A4. Just a reminder that it can never be about the tech or a specific tool. When if comes down to it, good pedagogy and relationships are still the heart of teaching. #BookCampPD
#AdoptDontShop#happy update 😁🤗🤗 our ROLO 🐶 now BERTIE ❤️ found this holiday season malarkey is just way too exhausting 😴😴😴😴 wonder if he’s going to last on New Year’s Eve?? 🎉🙈😁 happy life to ya BERTIE we love you ❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍😍
A3. Technology moves faster than us, and we need to listen to our students and find out what platforms are "they" using and jump in to learn them. Be "Flexible" it might change throughout the year various time; Facebook is for grandmas now #BookCampPD
@rokstar19, it’s hard to get motivated. You have a fear of, “What if I’m not good enough” or “Was if no one reads it”? Those were my fears. However, if you help ONE person… Think of the impact you have made. #BookCampPD
Hey #bookcampPD friends ...
Need this t-shirt? And the stickers? I'm randomly picking someone who has tweeted to the hashtag in TWO MINUTES to give it to!
Good luck! :)
A4. During 40 yrs in education I saw more changes than you can imagine. When I reflect, I agree with this quote that "literacy provides us with the best chance we have to change things." #BookCampPD
A3: Twitter and I love presenting at conferences. Nothing like sharing with teachers who are ready to learn! A goal this year is to blog. Now if I could just find the time... #FETC18#presentersofISTE18#bookcampPD
Q4. "Never before have so many resources been available, and tomorrow, there will be more." (pg 116) Please reflect on and share your thoughts about this quote. #BookCampPD
A3: Hand down TWITTER!! People look at me crazylike when I say it has changed me as a teacher and person! 🤪 Also, started blogging...going slow right now but just picked up some steam in the new year! #bookcamppdhttps://t.co/PDBFDH3klY
A3: I’ve said this before on Twitter, but in a building with 9 ELAR teachers, I’m the only one who does not require AR points. I also do not give homework, and allow test retakes. #rebel#BookCampPD#DitchHW
A3: twitter for growing my PLN and PD on demand! @Seesaw and @padlet used daily and Google Classroom often. beginning to use @Newsela for its online features in 2018 #bookcamppd
Please take a minute to thank our guest author @jmattmiller for his leadership in joining us and also guiding #DitchSummit during this winter break. I am amazed at all of the educators who have benefited from the tremendous time and effort he has demonstrated. #BookCampPD
A4) Over the last decade, the amount of universities offering online degrees, MOOCs, educators sharing on SM,passionate makers sharing their expertise via YouTube, professionals sharing via podcasts etc has steeply increased. If there is a will, there is a way to learn #bookcampPD
No way is hearty 19lb boy a "stray" 6yrs old shy quiet independent stressed in shelter if given chance to live will open up in exp home/foster leg wound healing don't let shelter behavior mean his death
https://t.co/vuyNquy18V
A4 I think this is where we come in, again, as guides - we have to be on top of what's out there to help our Ss navigate responsibly. We can't bury our heads in the sand and carry on as normal - this is the new normal #BookCampPD
A3. Twitter has been such a great way for me to learn and grow. I am gonna blog more (self-reflection) and podcast @Stella_Pollard!
Start a Google Site and post you thoughts there. #bookcamppd
A4: Man, this is my fourth year teaching and I know I am so lucky to have this opportunity! Living in a world where teachers collaborate with one another to promote collaboration and creativity in the classroom is magical! #BookCampPD
Q4. "Never before have so many resources been available, and tomorrow, there will be more." (pg 116) Please reflect on and share your thoughts about this quote. #BookCampPD
A3: I finally decided to get active in social media and share. I also started a blog to get into the reflective process and share my experiences as well. #bookcamppd
A3: I use a personal hashtag to note all my inspirations on Twitter. Easily searched & collared for me! (Also, I know others mine it as well.) #BookCampPD
A3. Favorite platform for sharing is twitter, but google plus is pretty great, too. Plan to blog more than once this year. 😂 Our GEG group is quite active. #BookCampPD
A4. I agree and it is not about using them all; but to use those that fit the needs of my learners. There are many cool things that are distractors vs. many that could be life changers. What's the goal and what's the need? #BookCampPD
Q4. "Never before have so many resources been available, and tomorrow, there will be more." (pg 116) Please reflect on and share your thoughts about this quote. #BookCampPD
A4: as teachers this is where we ADAPT. The world/tech is always changing and we have to adapt how we can use these tools for learning in the classroom #BookCampPD
Sharing with my colleagues in a more meaningful way is an area of growth for me too. I want them to see what is possible in real time. But how? #BookCampPd
Thank you!
And if you want to check out #DitchSummit, a free online conference for teachers, head here for all of the video presentations:
https://t.co/MwjUJCSG8k
It closes tomorrow at midnight, so check it out before it's too late! Thanks #bookcamppd! #ditchbook
Please take a minute to thank our guest author @jmattmiller for his leadership in joining us and also guiding #DitchSummit during this winter break. I am amazed at all of the educators who have benefited from the tremendous time and effort he has demonstrated. #BookCampPD
Please join @teresagross625 and I next Saturday morning, January 6th, at 9:00 AM EST for "BookTasting." We would love to see copies of the books Santa left under the tree for you or your new pile of books to read during 2018! #BookCampPD
A3 I have started a new blog this year ... teachingEnglishagain @wordpressdotcom ... just capturing my thoughts / experiences / feelings of moving back into the classroom with a half-time coaching position during the day #BookCampPD
A4 we have access to So many resources that can provide Ss w/ what they need when they need it to amplify their learning but we always have to remember the purpose, what is the why behind choosing a Tech Tool or anything for use in our classroom #BookCampPD
A4: I am so happy we were able to literally #ditchbook and throw our textbooks in the dumpster! #NoMoreWorksheets and no more standing for HOURS at the copier. #BookCampPD
Q4: The amount of resources out there can be overwhelming... I try to focus on a couple of new things at a time. Make sure the newest thing makes things better or easier, not just "new". #bookcampPD
A4. This is true for us and for our students. For me - inspiration, support, & growth opportunities are instantly available. For my students, it means I need to help them sort through what's available to find the best resources for a given task. #BookCampPD
Q4. "Never before have so many resources been available, and tomorrow, there will be more." (pg 116) Please reflect on and share your thoughts about this quote. #BookCampPD
A2 I believe educators need to be a model and be curious and learning about new technology to discover how to best use it in their classroom. #bookcamppd

Absolutely. We shouldn't hold our Ss back based on our areas of knowledge. This S choose to use @Minecraft as a platform for his project on the DOI. As he walked through Independence Hall he discussed historical significance and impact.
