Q2 How, specifically, have the chats challenged your thinking or encouraged you to try something new? https://t.co/DS8bPgtIpA
R2: I have a take away from every chat I participate in! Love my chats with about COPPA and CIPA
R2 Perspectives help to broaden my edu horizons. Seeing amazing things done classrooms opens thinking of my practice
R2: started my thinking of different ideas like . We are starting to develop one now.
R2: My favorite chats to moderate have multiple opinions. pushes me to seek different perspectives.
I'm on the porch outside, creeping the chat.
R2: and have let my future T's interact with great T’s from all over the state, challenged them to learn more
R2 I have made connections with so many people that I have learned from virtually and in real life as well.
R2: When trying something new, it's been great to share the success or failure with a fellow cohort. In it together!
R2 and if this your first chat, feel free to answer as you see fit! That's why we use R-no right answers.
R2: I've stolen my best ideas from chats!
Twitter chats have changed the way I use social media
R2 Educators like & have helped me try think outside the box
R2: Push you to try new technology or instruction methods. Have courage to learn from "failing".
R2: The chats have offered support for teachers in new roles as coaches. So many helpful ideas!
R2 I am always inspired by what our Ts, As, & Cs do. I"ve been challenged to implement some new tools and strategies thanks to
It is tough doing this in person...Both good convos and tweets in the room!
R1: As a college student and future educator this is a good way to learn more about my future career and make connections.
Oh me too!! Always such great ideas and strategies!
R2: Twitter chats have changed the way I use social media
R2: Specifically helped me understand how much more relationship is than tech training. Connecting with T's is vital as a techie.
R3. Continue to promote it. It's an awesome organization. The more teachers connected the better off Indiana students will be.
Thanks - we appreciate your help and support!!
R3: Maybe more impromptu meetups in our regional areas after school hours? I'd love 2 go 2 confos, expensive and $ is tight.
R3: Continue to promote and push conversations to deeper levels about the way Ss learn. It has to be about Ss.
R3: Continue exposing us to excellent inspirational speakers like
R3 That's a tough question. I think it is always a gentle prod. I should probably do more promotion of it.
Hey friends! Sorry I didn't make the meet-up tonight. Very long driving days made me tired! Looks like fun though!
R3: Continue to work and promote the good work of to keep this amazing network of Ts and Admins growing!
R3 I'd love to see more admins attend Maybe we could have an admin track & offer sessions specific to them.
Agreed - I think we can and should do more for admin to provide support
R3 We should reach out to new Ts & admins to join Twitter &
R3: A personal challenge to get more ppl from my district
YES!! I agree with this! We need more admin buy-in in the mindsets shared today!!! Leadership sessions!
R3. There is always a great book study taking place. What if that would be integrated in more?
After toady, my first I will encourage fellow admins to attend. Too much good stuff to pass up.
R3 keep up with inspirational keynotes!
THAT would be amazing! We are definitely limited when the support is not top-down.
I was sitting in the keynote this morning wishing every Admin & Super could have heard speak Truly transformational!
Clarifying Q. Difference between and ? Thought was just a confo.
I was looking for you! - moderator team photo tomorrow if we can get folks together.
We are trying to do more! We have an online course in , and more - how can we help you?
Sounds like a plan. I had all the intentions to be there. Just crashed though. 3:00am yesterday. 4:00am today. Long days
And I happen to know LOTS of amazing Admins who could lead sessions! ...wink...wink
That's an interesting concept!
You know me! Always happy to jump in and share! Love learning from this awesome group!
R3 has great strands this year! Teacher tools, leadership, makerspaces, etc. There really *IS* something for everyone
Great Q! is also the hashtag for all things ICE year round, while is office. https://t.co/nRrGsb9Psq
Clarifying Q. Difference between and ? Thought was just a confo.
R3 Someone should set up a list of for easy contacts.
I feel the same - this conference this year is TOP NOTCH! There's something for everyone
I think I know someone good at this!
R2: Able to get "fresh" perspectives to different situations you are going through.
R2: Able to get "fresh" perspectives to different situations you are going through.
For those new to -it's the hashtag our office uses, it's our state hashtag for all things edtech, AND it's this network.
R4: Not much makes me. Decius any more...except that students or teachers don't like my "awesome" idea. :)
Like 2 meet others & share what we're doing, struggles/successes. Meet coaches, build network & Good food nvr hurts 🍕🍔
R4 I think trying something new shows vulnerablility. But failure is ok! It's how re respond - that's resilience
Q4: I want students to enjoy what they’re learning & get new insights always - hard to capture all across the board every time
I'd love people to see our Maker Space for feedback or idea sharing. We have a Facebook page at https://t.co/fee8p7Vx28 .
R4: Murphy...he hides everywhere! Gotta have a back-up plan!
Um, I believe there is one....in truth there are many lists but we don't send weekly notifications ;) https://t.co/pI9DnRhB3c
R3 Someone should set up a list of for easy contacts.
R4 I think trying something new shows vulnerablility. But failure is ok! It's how we respond - that's resilience
There are local coach networks in your area - come find us tomorrow for help!
R4 mainly concerned about Student buy-in when trying something new.
R4-Fear of the unknown. When we try something new, we have no idea the outcome. Risk-taking is good. But can be hard!
R4: That vulnerability of exploring a topic that I did not know everything about. Kids teaching and learning with ate
SO struggling with relationships and response to struggles & resistance right now. 'mSuchaNorth
R4: Fidelity. Did I lead or implement a tool to fully benefit those I'm sharing with and leading? Does it meet their needs?
R3 I'm a T wanting to turn into a tech coach so I'm just discovering these chats- Maybe get more T's involved somehow!
R4 I get nervous about tech flops in front of Ts...not Ss. I'm supposed to be "the expert" for my Ts, but we all make mistakes.
We do "engineering on the road" for other schools. Gives our students a chance to teach and play with what they know
R4 I always get nervous that I am not sharing anything new or that participants won't find the info/resources useful.
R4 that the learners will not find value in the experience-
Yup. and I chat about that frequently. It is just insecurity. You have great things to share. :)
R4:. I get nervous that I won't be able to work out all of the kinks before presenting to Ss. Ss always help work out problems.
R4 response from admin, need support even if it flops
R4: Fear of failure. As coach, have to be Agent of Change & push thinking, Ts are afraid of change & tech not working
R4 The risk of failing and not having a back up plan
R5: Anger management when OneDrive doesn't play nice.
R5: I'd like to see some makerspace training since we're starting one. I'd also like to see some coding curriculum.
R5: Less shiny tech tools and more redefinition of tools with a focus on Student learning. Ss need to be center! (1/2)
Thanks Lance. You both do as well. Once I get started I'm fine. It's just the feeling leading up to it.
Yes! It is about the mindset. The pedagogy is SO much more important than the tool!
R5 I would love a PD bank where it is an open source resource sharing file of just pure goodness. Why recreate the wheel?
We could start a zen hashtag for that
R5: Continue PD with Standards as well as integrating STEM curriculum in the space.
R5: More support in connecting Ts and collaborative classrooms across the state and world.
R5: Changing the culture from a teacher role.
R5: Need to really be focused on Ss learning & having fun doing it! Less tools, more learning. Ss at center! (2/2)
R4: Ss reaction if things don't go well.
Completely understand. Doubting yourself isn't a bad thing. It just means you want to do a good job
R4: strategies working with and coaching adults!!! I don't understand why it's so much more difficult that Ss. lol
Hi, ! Late to the party, but are settled for the night and the baby is asleep now too!
R5 how to break down, implement & measure technology standards compliance. How to know if we're doing it "right"
Isn't it funny though. Many times you feel that way, but you are always educating someone, Kim.
what would a Makerspace PD look like?
. every time! the shiniest tool will not help Ss learn & grow! Solid Pedagogy will! Pedagogy must drive &
R5 I actually love writing grants - maybe updates about teaching/tech grants?
R6-It is about personalization of learning for ALL - Ss & Ts. We need to be intentional about creating opportunities for this!
R5: strategies for working with & coaching adults!!! I don't understand why it's so much more difficult that Ss. lol
R6: engaging in inspirational and innovative thinking with colleagues
R6: Do for adults what you want them to do for students.
R5: Allow Ts to be risk-takers and innovators, give support and share ideas, focus on learning not just on a product
R6: PD should be diff. for all Ts (few ex.) Voice & choice can go a long way. As former teacher, center of class!
R6 no more "sit and get" PD, more "make and take"
R6 It might be cool to do a lesson/resource share out. Things WE'VE created to help Ss learn. Not a tech tool smackdown.
R6 Time to research and try a new idea just like I give students. So many great tools, not enough time to get proficient.
R6 PD should model the things we want to see in classrooms. Learning=learning, no matter the age! Personalize, inquire, iterate...
R6 I think showing transparent learning & that failureis ok are key to transformation & modeling for our stakeholders
Lead by example! I never ask my Ts to do something I'm not willing to do. Same for Ss! https://t.co/qzf0ghyKJh
R6: Do for adults what you want them to do for students.
R6: Model what you expect to see in the classroom. "Be the change..." "Lead by example..."
R6 social media for a PLN is changing how we network the same as asking our students to use technology to redefine their education
R7: Students in my classes choose project topics and outcomes - flexibility lets everyone have their own voice
share resources, how to start, specific challenges faced, room design, what it looks like in different grade levels, etc
R7. Rather than answer questions ... ask them instead. Guide students to their own answers.
You and definitely lead by example & model for Ts!
R7: Different start & finish lines. Find voice, choice and interest. Need Relationships! No Cookie Cutter Projects!
R7-Our makerspace & the development of our student maker team. Ss voice & choice lives in this space!
Take the time listen to each student's
Great point! Focus on the learning rather than the tool...resource or project smackdown? https://t.co/ZYBYyBReQp
R6 It might be cool to do a lesson/resource share out. Things WE'VE created to help Ss learn. Not a tech tool smackdown.
giving students the opportunity to choose is one of the best opportunities we can give them!!
R7 love doing a "choose your own project project" where Ss have objectives and determine how to show mastery. Make evals, too
Thank you Kim! I haven't seen Mr. Knight for a while! Hope all is well my friend!
A Gallery Walk! We did this & was a great sharing exploration of awesome pedagogy/ideas!
R7 In classrm, I loved having Ss create make your own adventure stories that began with our study but had freedom to go anywhere
R7 Tell students to prove what they know and they develop projects accordingly. Really awesome to watch thought process
R7: And those new to student choice may want to start small. Small tasks, goals, or objectives to choose from, then expand.
R7 love having time to do with my 3rd graders. So much engagement
R7 Our school is starting a robotics club- All student voice and choice with teacher supervision instead of teacher input
R7 Allowing Ss to choose the tools or mediums to solve a problem or create a product rather than specifying
Agreed, too much freedom at once can be overwhelming. https://t.co/vLH9BWVs4Y
R7: And those new to student choice may want to start small. Small tasks, goals, or objectives to choose from, then expand.
We did F2F Gallery Walk w/ staff. Bring idea. Give time to walk, share, talk. Powerful PD!
Great sharing can be digital, or F2F. Find way to build convo around it - powerful!
Oh boo! We miss you! But stay connected to us - support is just around the corner always!
Sorry I missed most of this tonight, but here's my blog: Behind the Scenes of a 1:1 initiative https://t.co/clgGj1mtA8
Thank you, all . Archive to come much later!
