A1: Getting to meet all of the fabulous Ts from around the country and to work with
A1: My Unjammed 2.0 memory is seeing all the pictures! Ts exposed a lot of Ss to coding this year!
A1: Meeting new Tt and tech on Seattle trip
A1.2 It was awesome to be able to just visit with Ts and staff from other states. Just to see how what we all do compares
A1: tough question but I have to say meeting so many other DJJ Ts like me from around the country
A1: The trivia field trip and help unlocking my dorm door late at night from one of my team mates
A1a: also the feeling when we finally got bandwidth, proxy control, and kids were doing blended tech in class!
A2: It has been the tools that I took back w/me from Unjammed and been able to empower my Ss
A1: Meeting people from other juvenile facilities and getting the ball rolling at Green Hill.
And the approach that I now take to education. Definitely more Student centered.
A2.3: This approach has definitely been enabled from the increased use of tech in my class
A2: Getting internet access in the classroom and actually getting to use it! bandwidth, public schl server, list goes on and on
A2: That there is a lot more we can do to integrate internet tools, resources and other learning materials in a safe manner to JED
A1 Same for me--the relationships and collaboration has been priceless. But leading us to Jimmy's is a close 2nd.
A2: relationships...but also how important creativity is in education
A2: Getting the state to approve the use of Internet in the school for students. Now we need to figure out the filtering.
A2 I love the (ongoing) shift in our philosophy, and all the tools we have exposed out students to
I think that is huge! We have seen a complete shift to how we approach tech use
A3: Not being able to get enough devices in my Ss hands! That is all about to change though!!!
A3: Biggest hurdle is getting Internet to Echo Glen!
A3: implementing tech and blended techniques while out T staff disappeared
Hard to build any consistency.
The hurdle of letting students be responsilbe on the internet when we have a sub
I know that has been really hard!
Q3 Changing mindset of our admin. Would have been impossible without CEEAS and the accountability we had to adhere to this year
Yes! That is really tough!
A2: The greatest take away: so many tech tools exist that can help motivate students to participate in learning.
I am glad we could help! It is in the best interest of kids...that is all that matters in the end!
A3: lack of technical resources, including bandwidth, and tech equipment
Which ones do they like the most?
I hear that it may change as early as August???
A2: that so much potential for learning and teaching lies in the online world
Woot Woot! (I usually go with Whoop Whoop, but this seems fitting here :))
So true Rudy--it's hard to watch them fail, but we all know that's how learning happens! https://t.co/7Ee8KtrzB2
The hurdle of letting students be responsilbe on the internet when we have a sub
A1:sharing w/ coworkers; A2: not feeling isolated; A3: getting everyone on board
I always say "Google Exists and isn't going away" If they can find the answer on Google, the Q is too easy!
A1: Sweating to death in WA - it's not ususally hot here!!!!
We have been experiencing some typical WA weather this week. Rain, rain, rain!
A4: Web 2.0 tools, Contests, Coding and 3d modeling greatly impacted my students
A4: engagement! Ss love using tech and apps
I loved seeing some of the products of your Ss work yesterday!
A4: Too many ways to count. Opened up creative doors they have never seen before!
I'm with you--the throwback to college years was fun. It made us all bond. https://t.co/NkLNUODMnf
A1: Sweating to death in WA - it's not ususally hot here!!!!
A3: Time is always the culprit in trying to implement new material and maintaining everything else.
A4: My students love the Words Unlocked contest! We can actually do that one! Coding was also a big hit with most kids.
A5: Come with an open mind and a willingness to learn!
A4. Watching students learn coding and then use I to make their own projects
We recently did a collaborative project w/ our sister school using Tuva & my students loved that
A3: Hurdle: student access to web tools because of lack of ability to create individual student accounts on websites.
Very true! How do you find balance?
A4. My Ss will leave with confidence and knowledge they would have not previously had. They have loved coding and 3D design
Awesome! I am looking forward to reading their poems.
A4: youth are expecting the flood gates of "tech fun" to be instantaneous open 24/7
A5: be fearless...don't try to master everything...ask questions and participate during and after Unjammed.
I am so glad to hear that it worked out! Tell me more!
A5: Work with what you have and don't give up - that's all I can do.
I like that! Be fearless!
Don't worry about remembering everything from the get go, there are many supports built in over the tech week and school year
I found a solution but it is pricey so we have to make sure that it works well but it may address that problem.
I think that is important to keep in mind. It can only move as fast as the infrastructure. Also patience! right?
You have done such a great job not giving up!
I couldn't agree more! Perserverance!
A5 Relax + have fun! So overwhelming, but a priceless opport. for jj Ts. Demand time in next year's sched to collab and implement
A5: overwhelming at first, but keep at it.
YES! I agree...we will spend more time talking about what Ts need to be successful.
A5:Take away things that are good fits for your classroom and share with your peers other things that may improve their teaching.
A4: better instruction and more positive learning environment
I want my students to receive the best possible education I can provide, with or without tech.
A5.2 Dream Big, Start Small. And don't be afraid to fail. FAIL = First Attempt In Learning
A3: biggest hurdle, getting my whole facility on board with a more accessible Internet
A6 tweet ups are excellent, but time is difficult.
A4: I think the impact for students will be seen once we get securities dialed in so that teachers will feel confident using it.
A4: Just sent an email or tweet out to jjedtech
A6: For now, email updates, until we can get Edmodo, etc, running schoolwide.
Also keep in mind, that there is an Unjammed Facebook group, Great resource to stay in touch!
A6 I continue to ❤️ the idea of a mid semester unjam, preferably in a warm climate.
Nebraska isn't warm in January?
A5: Take what works for you and don't panic when you feel overwhelmed.
A7: Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
But think about the risks the guy takes riding a buffalo... Just like the Fellows, he is fearless!
A7 The Heat is On by Glen Frey, who recently died, which means I'll never get to see The Eagles...missed because of Unjammed 2015!
