Edcamps are a professional development model created for teachers by teachers. Edcamps are based on the belief that given freedom and flexibilty, a group of people can communicate and work together and produce results. They are always free to attend, and the topics for sessions are determined by the needs and wants of the learners in attendance. Participants are the focus of Edcamps; therefore, there are no presentations from vendors or outside groups that may take time away from the learning opportunities the learners want and desire. The purpose of an Edcamp is to empower all learners by honoring their expertise by encouraging sharing and collaboration among peers.
