Video 1 on page 22: I watched the teacher give conferences in math, much like I give “touch and go” conferences during writing. I was impressed at the process. First he gives them the task, then the resources to complete it, and then the kids take it from there.
-
The kiddos take care of the rest through what he called “self completion”. My only concern is how long he spent talking to each kid... also what about the kids who were standing in line? Did they have a job? Or do they just stand there waiting? What about the last kid?

“An important role of the teacher is to foster questions and dialogue among students and create meaningful experiences that allow them to interact with one another.” We are doing some economics lessons in the last few weeks of school.

The lessons are super interactive and run solely on student-led questioning. Throughout the lessons students will create their own advertisements, a theme park, and a budget to run the park. They are loving it and we shall see what the post-test results are.
