Hey. Tracey from Kansas. I teach K-5 at a Therapeutic Learning Program. #MakeItReal
  • teachermike72 Jun 6 @ 9:38 PM EDT
A1: Either because they weren't well thought out, didn't mean enough to the person setting them, or were denied by something completely outside of your control. #makeitreal
  • MrPStrunk Jun 6 @ 9:39 PM EDT
A1: Because we are still looking for the right keys. Sometimes the wind pushes the arrow away from the target. Lots of different, unforeseen variables. #makeitreal
  • sdtitmas Jun 6 @ 9:39 PM EDT
#MakeItReal !! Scott from NJ šŸ‘
    In reply to @mr_hayes
  • kruevans Jun 6 @ 9:39 PM EDT
A1: Too much complexity. Not setting up a simple, replicable way to get to your goal that is realistic. People get tired and real life gets in the way. #MakeItReal
    In reply to @mr_hayes
  • TeacherLadyKY Jun 6 @ 9:39 PM EDT
Because there is no real plan! A goal without a plan is just a dream. #MakeItReal
    In reply to @mr_hayes
  • msneil2009 Jun 6 @ 9:39 PM EDT
A1: The only time a goal fails is when you quit. #makeitreal
  • Teachintjay Jun 6 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A1: Goals can fail if they're merely goals without gameplans; they can fail if one lacks determination and/or perseverance; they may fail and have to be remade again and again #makeitreal
  • PreK33 Jun 6 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A1: Because there isn't buy-in from the stakeholders. It's not well thought out. It's a dumb plan. #MakeItReal
    In reply to @mr_hayes
  • sdtitmas Jun 6 @ 9:40 PM EDT
A1 Poor planning, lack of practicality, bad luck... lots of reasons šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø #MakeItReal

A1- Life is unpredictable. In education, children and learning is unpredictable. Setting goals is nice, but flexibility is key because you never know what is going to get in the way. #MakeItReal
  • LindaEdwardsi Jun 6 @ 9:41 PM EDT
A1 Some goals fail because we get distracted or give up. Sometimes the goal is too big, it needs to be broken down into smaller more manageable goals #MakeItReal
  • mr_hayes Jun 6 @ 9:42 PM EDT
How do we address this? #MakeItReal
    • LindaEdwardsi Jun 6 @ 9:41 PM EDT
A1 Some goals fail because we get distracted or give up. Sometimes the goal is too big, it needs to be broken down into smaller more manageable goals #MakeItReal
  • TraceyEnser Jun 6 @ 9:42 PM EDT
A1: There could be many different variables for failure...complexity, giving up too easily, not in the right frame of mind...basically if you look at things from a fixed mindset instead of a growth mindset. #MakeItReal
  • mr_hayes Jun 6 @ 9:42 PM EDT

  • MrsMues Jun 6 @ 9:43 PM EDT
A1: Sometimes goals arenā€™t realisticā€”but we may not know that when we set them. Thatā€™s why reflection and flexibility are important. #makeitreal
  • teachermike72 Jun 6 @ 9:43 PM EDT
Or possibly because the goal was set simply for the purpose of *having* a goal, not because there was any passion behind it. #makeitreal
  • mr_hayes Jun 6 @ 9:43 PM EDT

I think about student athletes who suffer an injury they had nothing to do with and are denied the career they wanted (and probably would have gotten). Tragic, esp if they don't have anything to fall back on.

  • teachermike72 Jun 6 @ 9:45 PM EDT
A2: Discern what my goals REALLY are and why I want to achieve them, count the cost of what they will require, and set up a calendar with small steps towards the ultimate goal. #makeitreal
  • kruevans Jun 6 @ 9:45 PM EDT
A2: I use Getting Things Done framework. Everything gets written down. If it's not written down, it's not going to happen. Preferably with a date on it. #gtd #MakeItReal
