A1: I really love hearing about anything having to do with coding, robotics, & making in general. Creativity + STEM = awesomeness!
A1, I love anything with BeeBots, littleBits, Ollies, and MakeyMakey!
A1L Fav STEM: take apart old tech to see how it works.
A1: One of our favs is the marble run. Collect toilet paper tubes, buy painters tape & let them tape to wall.
A1 am looking forward to using Little Bits snap circuits with my Makers
Cassie Janda, here from Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD!
Anyone know about makerspaces?
3 years sponsoring coding club.
A1, DEFINITELY anything pertaining to coding!
A1: Coding & are my trump cards! But also having campus contest (i.e. mummies, tshirts, museum artifacts).
Just had a 7th grade group finish an epic project. So cool.
That sounds like a lot of fun. Will have to give it a try.

Question 2 Are your STEM activities whole group (classes) or independent centers?
A1: Have always loved Rube Goldberg challenges.
Fav Tech: MinecraftEdu and/or Hour of Code - kids love it!
Those are pretty cool. Can't have enough of those
A2 in LISD we are piloting a library/classroom collaborative STEAM lab. It's whole group maker/design instruction imbedded in TEKS.
A2: STEM activities tend to be small groups, rarely whole group.
A2: Coding club meets as a group, technology room has a lunch crowd, others come and go as they please.
A2: Depends on activity. Sometimes kids plan independent STEM activities.
We did these last month and the kids ate them up! Tons of fun and you could smell their brains working!
I've never done one, looking for some great ideas!
A2 hopefully both small group and whole class STEAM challenges to meet as many needs as possible.
A2: Whole class for K-3. This am my team watched me create/troubleshoot tech! https://t.co/U1hpoK7rDz
Question 2 Are your STEM activities whole group (classes) or independent centers?
check out out STEAM discussion
A2- I would say independent.. Usually something is happening in the makerspace in a small group. Coding was whole group
A2: Some may work on , some coding, some , and some "deconstruct" area.
a2 Both. Teach a couple of classes, and in those usually do things as groups, or small groups.
A2 Come by Innovation Lab next week on Thursday to see what LISD is doing!
How does makerspaces work scheduling library classes?
A2 They usually work in small groups for STEM challenges. I put out several choices and SS choose based on interest.
A2 both, before school group is small, challenges are whole-class
A2: Coding started out as classes but now students are working independently.
You can create different areas for students to explore & create after checkout to begin with.
Question 3 How do you collaborate with teachers on your STEM activities?
A2: Both. Sometimes it is a whole class lesson while other times it is a library center set up for independent activities
Our student council members just made their own greenscreen videos with the DoInk app! So much fun!
A2: Does exploring in our tournaments count as ? B/c we just had a tournament! Lol! π

Question 3 How do you collaborate with teachers on your STEM activities?
A3 we use Understanding by Design (backward planning) and pull in library, classroom, curriculum, and tech personnel on campus.
A2 We use the Makerspace for small groups and use whole group for some bigger projects
Are you also pulling in literature to your activities?
A3 : The teacher and librarian discuss upcoming TEKS, then central office library folks meet with them to plan further.
A3 still too new for collaboration right now, just trying to convince Ts to try it, and well it's testing season
