Hi Colleen from Omaha! Speaker, author, zookeeper. My hubby came home early from work so I could take a much needed break from the zoo. Recharging is essential! #bookcamppd
After time out of Saturday morning chat pool, I'm cannonballing into #bookcamppd, #edugladiators, #nt2t, I'm Brian. I teach MS students English in Colorado.
Good morning #BookCampPD ! Sarah, 3rd grade LA/SS T from Ohio
A friend switched recess duty for me this week so I could have lunch with some Ss! It was so kind!
Good morning #edugladiators#bookcamppd Naomi Austin from SW Missouri. Ready to learn from the most wonderful educators on Twitter. Anyone that starts a Saturday thinking about growth is my kind of people.
Be sure when you answer questions, you label them A1, A2, A3. We’re going to be having fun, so be sure to share your thoughts and add #BookCampPD to each tweet. The first question drops in a minute.

A1: Feedback. Definitely! Students learn best when they are given a chance to correct their misconceptions and grow forward.
Hypothesizing is a close second for me. Let the students make inferences before you tell them what the phenomena/scenario is. #bookcamppd

Good morning from MD! This is my first week of participating in Twitter chats. So fun! I teach 7/8 English & Digital Communications. Might be in and out as the kids awoke earlier than usual to start fighting, and may have to rescue hubby. #EduGladiators#BookCampPD
A1: I use cooperative learning everyday. Students love working together and have more opportunities to learn than if they have to wait for me. #BookCampPD
A1 Feedback! in #LearnLAP focus on providing feedback within choice in the classroom empowers Ss to continue to make meaning and love learning #BookCampPD

A1) I love generating and testing hypothesis. And it can be used in any subject. It gets them thinking on their own. What's the evidence that you are right? Prove it to me? Love this with standards based. So much room for choice here. #bookcamppd
A1: Reinforcing Effort & Providing Recognition: Instilling a growth mindset in my Ss and teaching them to fail forward and never give up is important to me. Giving them recognition and encouragement along the way has lead to their success & created lifelong learners. #BookCampPD
A1: Reinforcing effort and providing recognition. Right now I know I'm encouraging the process of learning, but not enough reflection when we complete our projects. #BookCampPD
A1: as a K teacher much of what I do with my Ss includes prompting and support, so cues and questioning are huge part of my instructional practices #BookCampPD
I would agree. Lots of laughter. I learned to do the yo-yo a couple of days ago. My kiddos think I'm crazy because I was excited. "I did it," I shouted with glee and a squeel. They should be showing glee in the classroom also. #EduGladiators#bookcamppd
Will have to check the feed later #bookcamppd, time to go to a princess birthday party and then head down to Cape Cod for a little escape...lots of reading in my future!
Q2. Lean back for a minute and think of all of the professional material you have read this week. What are your thoughts about it? Any changes you would like to make? #BookCampPD
A1 Cooperative Learning, because it holds all students accountable for learning and collaborating. Teachers can use cooperative learning structures as a way of formative assessment. #bookcamppd
A2. This week I have been reading about website development and how to improve on leading Twitter chats. I gain SO much more when I interact with others about what I read - "happiness engineers" from @WordPress or others on Twitter I haven't interacted with before. #BookCampPD
A2: Not necessarily a read but a conference! At #KySTE18 I had a chance to hear @bigguyinabowtie speak about using #RaspberryPi in the classroom. I am super pumped to get my hands on some pi and incorporate it into my Science class/After school coding club. #BookCampPD
Q2. Lean back for a minute and think of all of the professional material you have read this week. What are your thoughts about it? Any changes you would like to make? #BookCampPD
A2: I need to make time to read more. Period, I have had a slump lately other than reading poetry to help with teaching with it I have books waiting for me just need to dive in. #BookCampPD

Sometimes it can be just reading to figure out how to present a lesson or some tech program. Reading to learn happens outside of books too :-) #bookcamppd
A2: I am currently completing a degree, so I don’t have much time to read books of my own choosing. I have purchased a couple math-related books that are waiting on my bookshelf at home so I can read them in April!! #bookcampPD
A2: I am reading #Culturize right now by the amazing @casas_jimmy.
When a student says, “I don’t understand.” They’re really screaming, “I need your help!” #BookCampPD
A1. I would say feedback and cooperative learning for the win. Homework stands out, but in the negative sense as an unnecessary instructional strategy. Is it ironic or intentional that if viewed as a bingo board, "HW" is on the "free space"? #BookCampPD#EduGladiators#DitchHW
Q1. Many of Marzano's instructional strategies are also detailed in the books we have been discussing. Which one stands out the most to you? Why? #BookCampPD
A2 currently reading Escaping the school leaders dunk tank, and right now it’s about allies and how it’s important to gather them inside and outside the school. I wouldn’t change anything. #BookCampPD
A2 focused on #InnovatorsMindset this week. Continues to push me to find those who have shifted mindsets and share with those beginning to shift. I LOVE that it mentions we are school teachers not just classroom teachers! YES! #BookCampPD
A2: Love my current read by @katiemartinedu! Challenge - how to foster positive school culture & share the amazing benefits of PD within our schools & community #bookcamppd#LCInnovation
A2: I'm reading The Formative Five. This week I've been focusing on diversity and bringing it into my classroom in a pretty nondiverse MT town. The kids are fascinated by other cultures and ideas so far. #BookCampPD
A2: I am reading #Culturize right now by the amazing @casas_jimmy.
When a student says, “I don’t understand.” They’re really screaming, “I need your help!” #BookCampPD
Love this book! My current class has needed a lot of practice with social skills and emotional regulation; #unselfie helped transform my instruction and make SEL and priority #bookcamppd
A2: Recently read the 4 Tendencies. It's a quick read and not really education related, but I highly recommend! It's all about how people deal with inner and outer expectations. Lots of good food for thought. #BookCampPD
A2 Recently finished #4OCF & #Culturize. Both really great. Now I'm catching up on some @NSTA ScienceScope & Science & Children mags. My brain needs some shorter pieces. #BookCampPD
Q3. On March 31st our guest authors will be @Jeff_Zoul and @mcconnellaw Each principle in the book discusses strategies for leading exceptional schools. What strategy did you see this week that placed students first? #BookCampPD
A2: I just started reading The Wild Card and one statement that really spoke to me is, "...engagement is the magic pixie dust that makes kids want to come to school." Teaching is about the learning experience you create for your Ss around/based on the standards. #BookCampPD
A3: I’m feeling a little guilty. I had to be out Wed-Fri for a conference. However, I used the Communications Principle. I made screencasts (thx @Screencastify) for my kids and chatted with them using @goguardian to help address misconceptions. #bookcamppd

A2. All of my reading this week has been through Twitter, and I am vowing to do MORE and hope to find educators who are interested in connecting our classrooms and students for virtual discussions and learning via @SkypeClassroom@Flipgrid or other technology. #bookcamppd
Q2. Lean back for a minute and think of all of the professional material you have read this week. What are your thoughts about it? Any changes you would like to make? #BookCampPD
A3 we are working on our master schedule for next year. Our principal is letting our counselor and myself take the lead but helping out where he can. Allowing us to collaborate. #BookCampPD
Just go these in the mail yesterday. I'll be starting Culturize book study on Monday. @mlarson_nj@casas_jimmy Can't wait to learn more. Ramping up on Culture before going to my new school district in August. #bookcamppd#EduGladiators

A3: The Self-Leadership Principle: I had a student that chose to practice letter identification during free choice time and another student noticed she was struggling and went over to help on her own. Ss taking on the role of teaching is the ultimate teacher goal. #BookCampPD
Together we are stronger! Thanks for sharing your thoughts today. Please stop by the hashtag during the week as amazing tweets are twice highlighted with shout-outs. #BookCampPD
