A1: Parent group gives a gift, supt gave a meat & cheese tray last week. Honestly, I think we could do better

A1: We have events scheduled each day this week ranging from massages to prize drawings, a potluck lunch and free music of course.

A1: Our parent support group does an awesome job working with our Administrative team to support Teacher Appreciation Week.

Q2: What is the most memorable acknowledgement or appreciation you've ever received?

A1: Next year, I will help plan. Music in the halls, jokes, fun videos, raffles, treats, COFFEE, it's the simple stuff...

A2: Honestly, warm thoughts in a public way go a long way. FB messages, tweets, it all matters.

A2 - I keep some cards/notes from Ss. in a binder - One of my best acknwlgments was being nominated by colleagues for state award

A2 - Was at Christmastime - admin (since has retired) handmade wooden ornaments and wrote poem that matched design

A2: Cards and notes from students, parents and coworkers expressing appreciation.

A2 - Yes when Prnt mentions schl time on FB, that feels nice. I also like "That's my Library Teacher!!" in groc str prkg lot!

Q3: How can we best support our professional colleagues year round?

We have given a jeans pass for the week, we are going to pop & deliver popcorn & water to teachers & give the gift of time to them

A3: Assume best intentions, always. Confront w/ care, when needed. Love & nurture them as peeps. Know their families.

A3: Be present. Get into classrooms, laugh w/ trs, problem solve w/ them, help them meet goals, buy them a cuppa once in a while.

A3: The best way to support our colleagues is to recognize the challenges they face and to support them as needed.

A3 Always look for the positive - especially this time of year. Take time to talk about non-school life.

Q4: How can teachers and administrators show appreciation for the support staff that work in their buildings?

A4: I try very hard to write every staff member a personal thank you note and positive e-mail as often as I can.

A4: Everyone at teaches. We're in this together. Celebrate all of them!

A4: I have a sticky note on my computer that says 3-2-1. It is a personal reminder to me.

A4: I try to make at least 3 positive phone calls, write out 2 thank you cards and make at least 1 personal contact every day.

A4: Appreciative emails are gr8, a phone call home to say thanks to a Tr? That would be AMAZING!!!

Q5: How can veteran teachers best show their appreciation for those who are new/recent to the profession?

A4: School themed gear is really nice. T-shirts, lanyards, water bottles. All help bind and brand the staff as "in it together"

Remember to write cards to substitute teachers. I have done it, and it's a thankless job.

A5: By not lamenting how things used to be. The good ole' days weren't all that different. Teaching has always been a challenge.

A5: Veteran teachers have a great deal of wisdom, experience and expertise to share with the next generation of educators.

A5: Veteran teachers provide tremendous leadership and they are a key component of a healthy building culture.

Q6: What do those who are more recent to the profession have to offer to veteran staff?

A6: A sense of idealism perhaps. Energy, enthusiasm, fearlessness, new ideas, and in some cases a greater familiarity with tech.

A6: Fresh eyes! Fresh approach. Allow us to feel needed (imp to us mommy-types). Keep us laughing! I LOVE our newbies!

A6: Newer teachers are not as bound by the way things used to be. It is a different mindset.

Remember they don't have to be there, they choose to come to your school. So thank them.

A7: My Learning Plan!!!! NO evidence that this helps w/ teacher effectiveness and LOTS of work.
