#OHEdChat was started by an ad hoc group of Ohio educators and other interested people. For information and updates about the chat, visit https://ohedchat.wordpress.com/
Good evening, everyone! Tricia Ebner, NE Ohio, Gifted Coordinator, and one of my favorite activities this time of year is going to Blossom to hear the amazing Cleveland Orchestra. Great way to spend a summer evening under the stars! #ohedchat
Happy to be here! My name is Steph, I teach 10th grade ELA at Springfield High School. Something I enjoy doing that is unrelated to work or school is going to the Columbus Zoo with my two year old niece! #ohedchat
Welcome, Heath! Great to have you joining us. Family time is definitely awesome. One of my favorite things about evenings, weekends, breaks . . . #ohedchat
Welcome, Steph! My son and I visited the Columbus Zoo for the first time this spring--we'd love to get back when all the exhibits are open. (We were a little early for some of them in early April!) It's an awesome zoo--and even better with two-year-old nieces, I'm sure! #ohedchat
A1 I love that we have staff who are all in for kids, like to take risks, build relationships with kids, each other, and families, and don't settle for anything else but their best. #ohedchat#mertonint#MertonProud
Jay, you are always welcome--we love learning with our friends and colleagues from across the U.S. and world! :) Hope you're having a great August and a strong start to the year! #ohedchat
A1. What I love about our district is how supportive we are of our students. We have MANY programs to meet the most challenging to the most stellar. Love our school community! #ohedchat
Hey hey hey #ohedchat! Lindsay Billings, HS ELA from Ohio stopping by! Right now, my favorite non-school related activity is being a new (and tired) mom to this handsome little guy!
A1: we are on the cutting edge and seriously not afraid to take risk. We are redesigning the idea of midterms and exams to better fit our learning environment & kids. Why make a kid take another high stakes test?!
#ohedchat
A1: Something I love about my school and district is the amount of opportunities we provide for kids to be involved. There are an astounding amount of extracurricular activities and our kids are very involved in our community! #ohedchat
A1: I love the feeling of community in our school and district. Admins, teachers, parents, students - we take a team approach as much as possible #ohedchat
A1: What I love about my school is how supportive my colleagues are! They encourage risk-taking, are there to laugh with, and always offer important ideas and insight. We keep each other energized (and sane) when needed the most! #ohedchat
Welcome, Jeff! Great to have you joining us. I've been enjoying as much outdoor time as I can on my patio; with fall coming, that will mean evenings around the fire pit or with the patio heaters going! #ohedchat
Have you ever found yourself calling it home? Sometimes during my 5:30 AM drive to my building, I'd find myself saying, "And when I get home, I need check those assignments that student gave me after her absence . . ." and I didn't mean my house! #ohedchat
#ohedchat A1: I work at a single gender school and the amount of time spent on empowerment is something I love. Teaching the real world skills of believing in yourself, that failure is an option, and the ability to utilize life experiences to better tomorrow
A1: I ♥️ how we just had PD on SEL & Trauma Informed Schools...we learned how they interconnect/similarities. I ♥️ the compassion, building relationships part. #ohedchat
Powerful learning that will be lifelong . . . and I love how these lessons can be woven in and among the traditional subjects, but also go so far beyond that. Very powerful! #ohedchat
I’ll save that for another chat. Ha ha. #ohedchat Basic idea is that death isn’t a bad thing. It’s a celebration. I tested it out as a closing keynote at #wmtai18 Went well.
A2. Being an administrator lol...it is a new gig and with it comes new experiences and challenges. My main goal this year is to learn and support. #ohedchat
A2. I know it’s lofty however, I have challenged myself to invite my teachers into my 20sq. Ft. I have challenged myself to get to know as many kids as possible. Not know their names but truly know them. #knowthemtogrowthem#ohedchat
A2: I'm going to try flipping my classroom using outside resources (Kahn Academy videos, @Allthingsphysix, @PhETsims, etc). I don't want to re-invent the wheel! #ohedchat
A2: I’m trying out some new lessons that may or may not work, but that I think will excite Ss! These include podcasts, @Flipgrid video lessons, and student-led projects! I’m hoping Ss can teach me some new things through these practices. #OHEdChat
A2 Everything I’m doing this year is new as I just moved schools/districts. But I’m trying to be very reflective of the last time I came into a school as new principal and doing things different and better from the last time #ohedchat
A2: I want to embed new technology resources into the professional development I provide--model some of the tools and strategies that can help us all. #ohedchat
A2: I am going to try to be Intentional...”its not about the what but the why.” I heard this “buzz word” many times during the #HiveSummit@Joe_Sanfelippo#ohedchat
#ohedchat, I am super interested in doing this (maybe not this year) Are you assessing if the Ss watched the vid? if so, how? Google form? edpuzzle (can that be done?)? something else?
In reply to
@MrWellsScience, @Allthingsphysix, @PhETsims
I can’t let you two dominate the #OhEdChat so I’m hopping in @c_michael5@MrConn32 ....I plan on becoming more familiar with Adobe Premier to use video based storytelling to communicate how our students grow each day in our district
A2: being more modest about how sweet I am. Jk 😉. I'm going to be a great think partner for my colleagues so that we all can grow which will impact our students.
#ohedchat
When I have students watch videos outside of class, I usually require a short blog post reflection on the video where they can reflect on what they learned. I loved the idea of flipping learning! #OhEdChat

A3: Continue with chats that support growth and innovation! Keep moderators diverse in order to facilitate new perspectives. Most importantly, keep it up with the positive support and affirmations! They are so needed as the year goes on. #ohedchat
#ohedchat can support me in the capacity of just allowing me to bounce my thoughts into the twittershere. I used to be a regular but life happens. Nice to be here tonight! 🙌🏻
#ohedchat A3: I really enjoy the weekly chats and connections with other educators, admin, etc. in OH. It is a succinct and informative chat each week. i.e. keep doing what you are doing!
A3. Continue to provide great connections and applicable chats! The more questions where we can share ideas and engage in ways to better ourselves as educators the better! #ohedchat
A3 #ohedchat can support me in the capacity of just allowing me to bounce my thoughts into the twittershere. I used to be a regular but life happens. Nice to be here tonight! 🙌🏻
A3: I love that my #PLN is constantly growing. I also love the support of fellow educators. My favorite part of chats are discussing classroom tools and strategies that work! #ohedchat
A3 This is my first #ohedchat but I believe strongly in the power of the conversations and connections you make through Twitter and chats so I have no doubt there is some growth and great connections for me to make through this
A3: It already has- #ohedchat served as a great feature in our new staff orientation and since then we have several new Tigers in the Twitter fold ready to share their classrooms, ideas and collaborate with their peers from across the state.
Thank you everyone for joining us at #ohedchat. Make sure to follow some awesome educators and keep inviting your colleagues every Wednesday at 9 PM EST!
You won't want to miss next week's #ohedchat as the awesome @theipodteacher leads us through a chat where responses are entirely in GIFs. It's going to be awesome!
