Hi I’m Liz Gary-Smith from country SA. Haven’t joined for a while but feeling energized- tomorrow is my last work day for 2027. @stuartkellynz#DigitalEDchat
#digitaledchat A1: Reading about it, I guess. Investing some time in looking up research involving ed tech. Has been quite enlightening to say the least.
A1. I made a VR field trip for teaching geography to online preservice teachers. Catchment study... well me and a VR photographer made it #digitalEDchat
A1: MANY! 1:2 ipad ratio, planning via google slides, google site for curating clips and docs for learners, @Seesaw (of course), seesaw on my phone (even better!) Digital citizenship development.. the list goes on... #digitaledchat
Probably the same as yours @stuartkellynz attending the Google Innovation Academy - being empowered to make a difference at a global level. #GoogleEI#SYD17
A1-lots of highs but most memorable was joining the googleeduonair Aus NZ conference on Saturday. Great learning, highly engaging and interactive with audience and presenters @stuartkellynz#DigitalEDchat
It had nothing to do with tech apart from I was filming it for class on air. It was my y12 boys teaching my year 10 class. Highlight of my year all round. #digitalEDchat
A1 3 things,
- improved real time feedback using Google Doc comments
- improved formative assessment & tracking using forms and sheets
- amplifying S voice using @Flipgrid to engage in reflection, feedback and develop speaking/collaborative skills
#digitalEDchat@GoogleForEdu
A1. Getting 10 Ts programming digitally and collaboratively, presenting at Google HQ on choose your own adventures using google slides, gaining google educator level 1, moderating twitter chats. #digitalEDchat
A1 developing and creating the role of a designated STEM teacher and coach within my school for next year and the creation of a maker space #DigitalEDchat
A1 Working with early adopters to spread the word and then seeing more staff trying new tools, toys and methods was also great to see! Broadening positive impact is a win/win for all! #DigitalEDchat
Having face to face classes cancelled because of a cyclone and having To teach 80 preservice teachers online. I got the course confused, gave incorrect info and it's recorded 😂😂 #digitaledchat
A2-not in a classroom this year but have been working on some flipped learning vids for 2018 and struggled with the feedback component that I want to include- I will get there though! @stuartkellynz#DigitalEDchat
Well I had to go this year, I don't know if I would, I'd like to, depends on what I decide early next year, at the moment, just too busy #digitaledchat
Part 2 for Q1 - putting all our resources online so Ss can self-access at own pace for AIT this year and moving to all subjects in our LA next year. #DigitalEDchat
A.2 That one time I assigned a Google Form quiz with @flubaroo but forgot to collect email addresses. So many anonymous responses. Let’s do that test again kiddies #oops#digitalEDchat
A2 I want to go to some more #educamps and maybe #ulearn. I have freed up some time and want to be more active in 2018... more collaborative #digitaledchat
I’ll be stoked when a ‘resistor’ offers a new tech suggestion/solution, wants to showcase something they’ve done at a staff meeting, etc. #digitaledchat
A2 my school changed its internet management system, so in an observation today, a tool didn't work. Also, the projector is too dark which meant more teacher talk than I'd anticipated. #DigitalEDchat
#digitaledchat A2: Still mid way in the year here but slow leadership decisions and lack of unified vision in some areas has been disappointing. (Heck, just plain pisses me off!)
So good! I forgot to ask for name once and had to sort through 150 email address that use student code rather then name! Will never forget that again! #digitalEDchat
Starting the #HighSchSTEM Twitter chat and the Student-Led #TeachMeet were highlights where I have learnt lots. #ClassroomCurious and Brendan Spillane for our Middle School Leadership were interesting too (not #EdTech focused). #DigitalEDchat
A3- same as A1- Googleeduonair. Particularly liked session-Promote creativity and higher order thinking with your students -Alina Jackson also enjoyed Getting into Geoland with Kelly Moore @stuartkellynz#DigitalEDchat
A4 Rediscovering twitter and getting involved in chats with people from all over the world! I’ve learned so much and made so many awesome connections! #DigitalEDchat
A3. I learnt how big data really works through a simple analogy using the storehouse in Raiders of the Lost Arc. I'm trying to find the blog. Let me know if you want the link and I'll ping you later #digitaledchat
A3 Rediscovering twitter and getting involved in chats with people from all over the world! I’ve learned so much and made so many awesome connections! #DigitalEDchat
Such a shame for those Ts who were keen to try tech integration in their classrooms. Tried work around using 3G from own phone. Not sustainable. #DigitalEdchat
A.3 Having the opportunity to put to TEDx Sydney about why we need internet based mentor relationships to limit young teacher attrition. Kind of #edtech#DigitalEDchathttps://t.co/1j6MaI6z4y
A4 I've continued to share as much as possible about things I am passionate about like this 3D Printing Classroom Projects Blog https://t.co/s92HuhkTQo#digitaledchat
A4- used Sli.do to collect feedback and discovered how to use it for multiple rooms/audiences at one time; used to poll audience for instant feedback and for audience to ask questions and get answers in real time @stuartkellynz#DigitalEDchat
A4 Still consumption based but running workshops for staff, made a few how to videos, having my say on Twitter, wrote a couple a of blog posts... would like to go furthering 2018 #digitalEDchat
Its okay Karen, i get that a lot. There's some others that I could name, but we'll catch up properly next year, I only made Auckland once #digitaledchat
A4 I'm still a pretty big consumer in my personal life TBH, social media for me is how I connect with family, dancing community, etc... Teaching it's all about google suite! #digitaledchat
A2. System problems and working out i need to rely on myself rather than others - not so much a low light - more a sobering realisation but liberating also #DigitalEDchat
A4 Finally got to work on a film project with students for the Manaiakalani Film festival. TCTV: Film Festival 2017 - Rocket Man: https://t.co/ZzLZ65DdI9#digitalEDchat
A4 I've produced some Google Doc modelling books for next year. I also tried a student study folder as a one-stop-shop for missed hand outs and such. #DigitalEDchat
That’s why we need better infrastructure. Then work together as Ts collaboratively using tech tools so that we can see why it would be great for S collaboration! #DigitalEDchat
A4 is a tricky one for me. I do both I suppose. I consider what I do with social media research creating but most would consider it consuming I reckon #digitalEDchat
A4: Vintage hair workshops for my Freedom Friday option: I create flipped videos curated on a google site that students access via QR code that shows students how to create vintage hair styles. They can pause video etc... #digitaledchat
A5- the amount of flipped learning happening in schools around South Australia and the huge variety of ways it presented and consumed. The clever integration of formative assessment and almost instant feedback @stuartkellynz#DigitalEDchat
A.3 i havent really done much. I have been involved in several @Seesaw PL which were great. I just throw myself into using tech when i see it - not much rhyme or reason. I used @flipgrid today for the first time. Have nearly completed the @cserAdelaide#MOOC also #DigitalEDchat

And this is where I think there is a space for brand new approach to pedagogy. Active listening and watching... lurking hasn't really garnered a lot of attention. It's different to flipping #digitaledchat
Want to do it walking dogs, cooking, driving. I think the art of the lecture needs to return. Consider the success of podcasts and audiobooks #digitaledchat
A4. I have produced @seesaw activities using the new function but little else. My Ss have produced a lot of work smashing apps together using ipads. I have tried to share my progress/trials and errors via twitter. #DigitalEDchat
A5 For me, it's how awesome our students have been with our big #edtech push @AorereCollege. The community support has been massive and full of high expectations! #digitalEDchat
Thanks Myles! Here it it, a daily learning episode communicates a learning question, how we learn (colour of the bubbles), and how much time (size of the bubbles). It's a timetable 2.0! #digitaledchat
Thanks @stuartkellynz and the #DigitalEDchat crew! It’s time for bedtime stories and lullabies! Ha! Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
☀️🏄🏌️☕️🍴👨👩👧👦
I find juggling the demands of family life, new role in the classroom after being a physed specialist and the systems requirements is a challenge. I do what i can but have a thirst more more. #DigitalEDchat

Good on you for being so perceptive. We need to put family and oursleves first to be sustainably effective in the classroom IMO. Only took 16 years to figure this out! #digitalEDchat
In reply to
@JDorozenko, @Seesaw, @Flipgrid, @cserAdelaide
Yay! Then students can use them to create their OWN learning journey for the day, week, month, year. Students understand the purpose for their learning activities therefore increases engagement. #digitaledchat
A.6 Collab: has to be anything #gafe related. Agency: had students create Sustainable home designs using #minecraft That was pretty cool. I was surprised the level of detail they were able to achieve #DigitalEDchat
A6-collaboration-OneNote or google docs. Agency -sli.do or Kahoot for instant feedback to me so I can respond to ideas, questions, misconceptions. All have a voice. Interested to hear from others @stuartkellynz#DigitalEDchat
A6 In the past I've set a task for Ss to tell a story from images they've selected. It is recorded as a video. Each student speaks to one image each. #DigitalEDchat
As long as they don't know what I'm cooking, what pets I have the kids can make me the best robot vacuum. I really want one... without an internet feed #digitaledchat
