I love to run, read to my kids and watch mindless shows with my husband
Student is not their primary identity and teacher shouldn't be yours. Sharing your personality with them builds that relationship.
It's about the balance. My students don't devote their whole life to school, so it honestly helps me relate to them.
*making my IPA face* (It's something like a scrunched nose & shaking head) hehe
I guess I would also hunt and fish way more than I do now - My boys and daughter love fishing - now I need to turn them on to hunt

Follow-up Q - How does investing in those other aspects of your life make you a better educator?
Sometimes I wonder if I wasn't an educator if I would be as into tech as I am ... I dig tech, but would that passion still be there?
I picked up a book my friend gave me this time last year and couldn't put it down. Can't wait to pick it up again:)
Oh oh oh and I'm a big fan of skiing too.
That is really neat, Ben. Are you able to do any cycling during the year, too?
I have to say, I wish I had more time to knit and crochet. I've taught my 8th graders how, though, so that's been fun.
this early morning gym ses will go a lot quicker today
Happy Tuesday to you Jessica! It's going to be a beautiful one!
Balance is subjective. Luv time w' family & luv to learn so reading for work/study is reading for pleasure. My work is my passion.
My connections with family and friends, my faith and regular exercise help me to 'renew' my commitment to my career/vocation.

I absolutely LOVE that some of my students are Potterheads & are also into Dr. Who! Makes for some funny asides in class.
I can't really imagine educator out of the equation, but I have learned balance largely because of this community.
I'll be here all week! In NYC right now, to NJ for tonight & the next few days, then Philly, DE, MD, DC!
Child of God, woman of integrity, live 2 learn & serve, scientist, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, & mentor
Occasionally, but not multi-week rides. I'm currently planning this summer for Norway & Denmark! https://t.co/ppnHP0ZtbX
Multitasking at it's best. I am not coordinated enough for that!
It's an unbelievable conference. You'll love it.
Alright my friends. Speaking of I should get back to work. Enjoy the day
imagine if everybody worked at a job that was also their passion ... happiness
We are all up at 5:30 to talk education. Pulling educator out of the equation would be hard for this group.
I'm dad. I love the feeling of breaking the threshold of my home's doors & seeing two li'l munchkins running towards my knee caps!
Good for you!! That is a goal we have at our school.
Those other aspects feed the "P" in "PIRATE." So important to incorporate interests into our teaching. https://t.co/V4raqTE7r9

It is weird to think of life without the "educator" part. I think that's just in our blood as they say.
TY for the greeting, finally discovered the question
Oh yes. I miss that about teaching - getting to geek out w/ my Ss who are into the same fandoms, esp Doctor Who
The hardest part is putting on your sneakers. . Just a walk in the sun and I feel better.
you might tinker on weekends. I used to go bird watching and my coworkers would make fun of me in a past life
balance is overrated. i run so much better when I'm a bit askew
My students are always surprised to see me running, I think it's important to model keeping fit and healthy for them.
I am a learner. Life different from "back in the day." Learn from my family, my Ss, my PLN. Definitely helps me teach.
