I actually hear birds right now and not rain
Good morning peeps. I hope all the Mom's had a fabulous Mothers Day yesterday!
No clue about ePortfolios. Wanders around looking for coffee...
Im going to need someone to compile a list of resources for me after this conversation. I need to learn more for my teachers.
I have been craving the sun! Looks like we'll have 3 days in a row with sun here in WNY!! Yipee!!

Hope it was a good one Kerri!!
I need some vitamin D in the worst way!
i am using Seesaw this year for my kids ePortfolios... they seem to like it:)
Hi Kathy! How about paper portfolios? Anything similar?
GM! Laurel. Bermuda. I'll be doing a lot of listening for this one.
the whole northeast has been rainy for a week and a half!
Good morning - it was so great to meet you this weekend
Good morning! Hoping for some sun in NJ this week.
We do have reading folders we pass on to the next grade.
Our base platform is Google Docs via Google classroom. We manage it all with Doctopus, Goobric, GAFE. One stop shopping - love it!
Right with you. No ePortfolios here either. Learning with
We currently do not have ePortfolios school wide, but our MS will be teaching a 7/8 ePortfolio elective next year!
Good morning, ! Rachel, T and Tech Integrator from NY.
yes yesterday for Mother's day it was sunny and warm ( well planned) looks good today https://t.co/03gqOrUxQG
I actually hear birds right now and not rain
i 'hearted' your tweet ... but in all honesty it was not as good a day as tomorrow will be!
Good morning! Stacey from NJ. Excited to talk portfolios and learn this wonderful Monday.
Good morning!!!! Excited to have attended last Saturday, it was absolutely wonderful
I'm very interested in eportfolios for next year (don't use one now). People have suggested Seesaw - thoughts? suggestions? Thanks!
We are a microsoft county and we have onenote online. Im getting pretty good at it.
Definitely seemed longer...glad for the reprieve. Enjoy!
morning Some of our TS started using them this year - lots to learn!
Our district doesn't use them, but I use them for my course. The Ss can chose the platform.
Morning, Kelly! ePortfolios are an amazing way facilitate the learning process...trying to figure out best platforms.
My S's R using Weebly -part of their final grade is their portfolio. They work on them at the end of each unit-"show" what they know
We are beginning our use of e-portfolios across the district. I'll post some info we use to help support students and teachers.
I've got you covered with a storify.
glad to hear, it's an awesome way to learn and expand your PLN https://t.co/oN01eUrfc5
Good morning!!!! Excited to have attended last Saturday, it was absolutely wonderful
Really? That sounds interesting. How does that work?
Do you like it? Is it easy to use? Thanks!
Good morning we use eportfolios. Right now we are using drive - we've used dif stuff over the years
Next year, I am looking to use Enounce with my Ss.
Portfolios are a great tool, our Ss will use them next year, it gives them ownership and they can self assess
That would be great! Thanks!
I try to stay optimistic but sometimes I really wonder why I live here in WNY. I need more sun in my life!
Ss present their e-Portfolios to a group of parents, Ts, & other Ss via Prezi. We do this 2x per year & to build "survival skills."
also has a digital portfolio platform that works well and you can export it.
the sun came out *briefly* Saturday evening & it felt like "All Summer in a Day"
Morning, Manny! Are the students able to curate with these tools? Do you have a portfolio system?
Good morning, early birds! Just popping in to say thanks for being awesome educators and hope y'all have a wonderful week.
hey there...Kerri here in NZ ... i am using Seesaw..nice, easy to use audio and written feedback options
Indians beat the Royals this weekend with some great pitching. How'd the Phillies do? Hoping for an October meeting
We also pass along work folders but nothing digital in elementary.
Somebody walk me through the portfolio. After the kids collect all this work, what do they do with it in your classes?
Looks like many of us will need it. Lol https://t.co/8mOFNwNS7P
Im going to need someone to compile a list of resources for me after this conversation. I need to learn more for my teachers.
My Ss do all their writing on google docs. Is there a way to create a portfolio out of that?
I know uses and loves it.
Thanks to my under the desk elliptical, I am already at 9200 steps!
Good morning friends! Steve from NJ. We don't use a standard e-portfolio in district but I have students share work via blogs, etc
Ts are also using portfolios in personalized PD. Both Ts & Ss using whatever they prefer. We'll see what works best
In elementary, that depends on the district and teacher.
TGhey can but we have to teach them first.
Seems are a new concept to some people...for those of you already using them, how would you describe them?
How is Doctopus/Goobric working? I'm investigating it as a T is currently using it with her class
Good Monday morning Ts use computer program for Ed Eval, but no system for Ss where I work.
Good morning, all! While not mandated, I have the Ss using googledocs to keep their writing organized.
Indeed! Some bells & whistles I'd like to see per my experience with other platforms, but the overall approach is great.
An elective? All year? Curious!!@ https://t.co/SZlhKYM8TO
We currently do not have ePortfolios school wide, but our MS will be teaching a 7/8 ePortfolio elective next year!
We also use OneNote for documentation of student learning.
Good morning, ! Our Ss use Google sites, which they update each year 2 highlight their best work. They save all work in Google Drive.

I have a friend who is investigating Seesaw with her primary grade class - what grade do you teach?
hahahaha..just has to be better than today! Some of my kids find Monday HARD..even having Playday Monday is not doing it
Good morning Ylonka! Going to learn a lot here this morning!
My S's have 3 parts they complete after each unit-Answer essential Q's of unit, Visual component-their choice, Reflection
Yes. I have heard of seesaw. That seems to be a good one.
I would like to hear more about this as well. https://t.co/9ZndYOIxwX

A collection of each student's work. Shows growth over time. Alos a great way for kids to review & reflect. https://t.co/Wm5LORonL5
Seems are a new concept to some people...for those of you already using them, how would you describe them?
New Zealand huh? That's pretty cool. Question - do you use it as a way of giving feedback (I use google docs) or..
This sounds doable. https://t.co/PgxDzVJfYV
Our base platform is Google Docs via Google classroom. We manage it all with Doctopus, Goobric, GAFE. One stop shopping - love it!
Hi everyone! Definitely lurking today, can't add to today's question...yet😉
I'm finding Monday a little tough today myself-hoping a littel coffe snaps me out of it!
It's fantastic. I can check individual S progress on activities at anytime & provide targeted written or verbal feedback.
We use Google Classroom, but find the organization of materials not helpful as e-portfolio...suggestions?
I see the benefit in students seeing their growth and teachers being able to see it as well. but is that how they are used?
or as a way of highlighting or showing off work? Thanks for the feedback
I tried Seesaw, but the Ss did not like it, and Ps did not sign up for access. Ss found it to be not user-friendly, .pdfs to upload.
I absolutely LOVE this picture!
For me, are a great way for students to curate their own work. Portfolios show student growth & evidence of learning.
i teach Yr 8 kids (12 years old) ... but would be easy enough for younger to use definitely.
When i hear people talk about eportfolios I rarely hear anyone talk about the academic benefits.
They seem like a great way to document & reflect on learning. https://t.co/BCrq29qBOP
Seems are a new concept to some people...for those of you already using them, how would you describe them?
have switched all Ss on line work to Google, they can't lose it and they can access at home simple, clean https://t.co/nnZImbPBVa
Good morning, all! While not mandated, I have the Ss using googledocs to keep their writing organized.
Ok repeat after me… WE CAN DO THIS
♾Everyone has been looking around for several years waiting to hear global best practicies- time is now. 💜 https://t.co/TvgVhCmchN
we're not using e-portfolios - I can't wait to hear what you all do with them
I love that. thats what im looking for.

Joining in a little late & for the 1st time in a while. Ben, MS/HS English teacher from Michigan.
That growth part is so important. And empowering!
Tests and quizzes don't show us the same things.
OneNote is my favourite right now!
Interesting suggestions... I use evernote for data colleection... Haven't tried Onenote
I know there are folders, but that is really hard for 3rd graders. Want to take google training this summer.

i am sure your day will be AWESOME Connie:)

Portfolios help both Ss and Ts reflect on their work
Google classroom has been a great addition to our toolbox this year. Everything in one place...love it!
Yes, WE CAN! YES, WE CAN! :)
my middle school students did not embrace it.
They have a tab for each unit. Also have an About Me page and will have a final/culminating reflective piece at the end.
I am hoping to go through the certification this summer. I know there is a lot to learn. https://t.co/hvW693ito2
Google classroom has been a great addition to our toolbox this year. Everything in one place...love it!
For those using, did it begin as grade-level initiative? Building? Is there an expectation of what each S's portfolio contains?
We don't use eportfolios as a district. Getting ready to lead the way at my school beg. next yr. Inspired by mindset
What are some free options I could use with my classes, when there isn't district-wide program?
This is a great way for kids to continue to "interact" with their work...instead of never seeing it again. https://t.co/gSFmQicJS2
My S's have 3 parts they complete after each unit-Answer essential Q's of unit, Visual component-their choice, Reflection
My school does not do ePortfolios. We don’t even do paper copies for students to keep their work in from grade-to-grade.
A place where Ss can show what they have done so they can explain to an authentic audience
This approach is very doable! I had zero formal training - picked it up from videos on the internet & collab w/ peers.
Now that I've "seen" you I know it will be Kerri! Happy !!
Absolutely! Reflection is a huge component of , in my experience. One of the only "requirements" I gave. .
Never heard of this... will be checking it out today
Jumping in for last few minutes. Yawn. No coffee! Kathleen from western MA
This week: I commit to creating eportfolio workflow for my HS kids. And launch the process...
I'm going to attempt using today to put Ss fave pieces together. Will let you all know how it goes.
True! If Ss don't understand why they compile their work, the purpose & learning opportunity will be lost https://t.co/HEGaJzQGq4
When i hear people talk about eportfolios I rarely hear anyone talk about the academic benefits.
more info, plz! (you have the best ideas)
i guess everyone has different thoughts about it...my Yr 8 kids like it as a way to show their journey
Go rock your Monday and make it what you want it to be! Inspire someone.
Yes she DOES! I want to know more, too!
When I assigned a senior portfolio project, Ss struggled for academic examples … b/c they didn’t have any.

Exactly. it depends on the teacher. I love the idea and what it can do for class culture. I need to see the process.
Two of my favorite tools for the kids to show their work are and blogger
What's the topic this morning?
Please do! How are you selecting which pieces to use?
I had a T make the same move. Google sites it definitely YUK!
Love the positivity Andrew - Thanks!!!

for those who can join today 9:30 EDT on value of being connected. Your input is invaluable.
Portfolios are a great reflection of learning over time...powerful tool to support learning!
Academic milestones that stood out from their 4 yrs of HS. They can name them, but the artifact component is tricky.
Yes Kathleen. My S's use Weebly as a platform. Tried to use Google sites last year-didn't like so much.
What does that say about the work we assign?
Have a great day everyone!
Looking to implement something depart wide, but hard to get other Ts on board.
The academic benefit for me is 24/7 access to the S's work/progress and much shorter feedback loop between T & S. Gold!
We're a 1:1 district. We've been talking about, no reason content should live on devices.
Ok. I gotta run. But I have a crazy busy week ahead of me.
I agree. I think my MS kids found it to be an unnecessary extra step. I wish Ps would have bought in.
Inspired as always. Thanks, I and every day because of you.
I started creating weebly sites for my students, but they didn't all have access, &didn't quite understand https://t.co/J1f2cCqQS3
Last yr=1st attempt w/ eportfolios-tried Google Sites-YUK! This yr Weebly-not perfect but an improvement. Work in progress
Big thank you to for all of the resources you're posting - opening new tabs & OneTab-bing everything
Have no devices. Would have Ss go to computer lab twice a month to add work to portfolio. looks good https://t.co/kOuPAip5LM
onenote, evernote, explain everything, those are all free
So far we find them a powerful way to put Ss in charge of their learning & assessing. Which i think is the point of ed
It’s been an uphill battle as a 1st yr T. Most of the “work” has been tests. Rarely were Ss assigned meaningful projects.
Awww... I haven't heard this song in so long Ellen - Big hugs & thanks!!
I dont like google sites either. We use weebly for other things so I should look into this. Thanks!
I agree, but Ts have to lay all cards on the table, short and long term, to get the Ss to buy in this process
I've never done this before, it will be their choice mostly.
I would love to get something done district wide. Wondering about platforms and Ts thinking the effort is worth it.
Thanks for some great insight on e-portfolios. Make it a great Monday peeps!
They made an eBook in Computer on plants and soil so I'm hoping they enjoy this, too.
That's what I am thinking. Also, they can be a great way to communicate w/families. Reflection/build relations.
or let the Ss find one that they feel comfortable with. Doesn't have to be a uniform platform.
Onward and upward to a great day, great week!
We uses google for all work in the HS too. Some Ts are using it for portfolios - simple and effective
E-portfolios are a a great way to build students metacognitive skills...deep reflection, thinking about their learning progress.
Not a fan of the paper portfolio. But the e-portfolio has so much potential as a reflection and growth piece for Ss.
Some of my T's have taken the idea & run with it but others still struggle/would prefer non-digital
i have a few parents who commenting on their kids learning... kids use as a place to document 'journey'
is now trending in USA, ranking 1
Our awesome Coach reminded me of it yesterday. It was a favorite of my Mom's:)
I see "join for free" - I'm in for a look!
That’s the battle I struggle with, too. Some Ts find the portfolio idea worthwhile, others don’t want the work.
Yes! Should be pointed out that are way powerful in a competency/standards based framework. Growth>grades
The ability to self-assess is one of the most important things our Ss can learn https://t.co/JMFhncp4Q9
Portfolios help both Ss and Ts reflect on their work
For many of my S's being given an option of how they want to "show" their learning is liberating.BUT-this isn't so for all
Yes, and I also think it's hard to be retroactive in collecting work. If it wasn't meaningful the first time...
...they will find little to no meaning this time either.
Love your idea about family connections to portfolios of student learning...especially with ease of electronic access.
And a great way to replace traditional grades, which don't show much https://t.co/h6JXlXTtz9

I missed the answer to this super question - plz details, folks! (And what gets passed on to the next T?) https://t.co/xeH1q5ctD1
Somebody walk me through the portfolio. After the kids collect all this work, what do they do with it in your classes?
Really? I suppose it could be in HOW they are used. Portfolios are one of the most powerful academic tools I know.
I still feel that we're in the early stages of getting e-portfolios off the ground...no expert here! 😊
Yes! My S's have portfolio days at end of each unit-they get to reflect on what they've learned-
Interesting. Most mentioning documenting growth. A few referring to feedback. https://t.co/EF9FQo6ktI
When i hear people talk about eportfolios I rarely hear anyone talk about the academic benefits.
We currently don't use portfolios but we are going all in with Google Classroom next year.
We planned to start nxt yr but some Ts jumped right in. Ss show evidence of meeting learning targets & reflect
I'm not that familiar with the Microsoft suite...GAFE offers great tools for curation. Are they pretty similar?
Thanks for the great ideas today!
Will check back later to read what I've missed!
Have a great Monday, everyone!

We make non-digital an option for both Ts & Ss. And no one platform is mandatory. Choice helps.
Connie, I'd love to know more about how you like Weebly for portfolios. How long have you used it?
just added another 2 weeks to my summer research & classroom/teaching practice revamp project. I have a headache :)
Thank you - you've given me *a lot* to investigate this morning. Keep the ideas coming and the community growing. Happy Monday!
Stacey, always hooking us up - thank you!
Very exciting news! Best wishes!
A digital and low tech way of demonstrating organization skills at very minimum. =) Ts and Ss https://t.co/TTZpqqtqE2

Special thanks to for bringing this topic forward this morning! Great start to Monday!
Exactly! And now they can share with others outside of school!
Yes, and Ps can see what they're accomplishing. Very powerful.
We didn't make Paper an option-interesting-I wonder if I would have had any S's take me up on that option?
This is our 1sst yr-tried Google sites last yr-didn't like at all. So far I like Weebly-easy drag-n-drop
What's the deal with ? Could somebody fill me in, because I'd like to know!
Our more crafty, artistic Ss love it. And produce incredible portfolios. I'll have to get some pics of samples
I love that idea! I might have to borrow it-thanks!!
Would love that! My crafty/artsy S's found digital ways (pics, audio, video) 2 incorporate their creativeness
Reach out to local college/univ edu depts! I've found that they love to assist

Popping in to say hi, ! We don't use eportfolios.
Hi, . No systematic portfolio use for Ss where I work. I'm aware of pockets of Ts experimenting with GAFE Sites or Wixie. 1/2
My school has started playing around with T portfolios via Google Sites as way to showcase prof learning, earn advanced standing 2/2
Yikes! The spam is crazy this a.m.
I suspect that's where many are at. Problem with ePortfolio, what happens when you leave that school & with it access
I saw mention earlier this morning of Seesaw? Might check into this. Would be nice to see progression of skills.
Certainly is! Very annoying!
Noticed that today, too! Wow!
Charting the progression of skills is so important, and IMO, a better way to measure success than high-stakes tests.
You def want to consider a sustainable option. Sites is a good one.
How do your Ts like the portfolios?
I think it would be nice for me to see incoming 8th grade work before they get to me to plan where we go.
That's great, Janine. What are you using?
That's great, Janene. What are you using?

I went from skeptical hoop-jumper to engaged. Both learned about portfolio platform & myself.
are you planning to use a specific platform?
Like weather? Some days less favorable than others. Cue Gene Kelly: "I'm tweeting in the spam, just tweeting in the spam."
That's awesome. Could you see using portfolios with your students as well?
I was up as normal, but today it is a PD day here in my board. ☀️☀️☀️ https://t.co/E0DTvXvLgZ
Good morning friends! Found it a bit tough to get out of bed this morning. But...it's - and it's sunny out!!!!!
You bet. Current baby steps involve Google Doc home for S writing portfolios. Template here: https://t.co/gqagMdjcFA
I am leaning towards as it is user-friendly and has a blogging feature built in.
Looking forward to a great exchange in a few: 10 min. spark chat on the value of being a connected educator.
