A1. By focusing on the individual learning pathway rather than reflecting against arbitrary criteria! https://t.co/A37N4RSnA4
-
-
A1: Education opens doors & minds to possibilities of great success! Discovering things we never knew we were good at!
-
A1 Education curriculum can stress more and esp. teach the art of asking better questions & quiz self
-
A1 as a middle school teacher I think grade 6-8 is an exciting time to try new classes and see what is inspiring.
-
A1: allowing for integrated learning such as that allows students explore diverse content & find their passion/talents
-
great point! https://t.co/eKeKGB9Wfy

-
let Ss ask questions, explore themselves&their abilities. Ts should spend time asking ss about their interests
-
A1. Education can help question, explore, discover, and change... and occurs both within and outside the classroom.
-
A1- If the eyes are windows to the soul, education should be the window to talents. Ed should let Ss see where they can thrive.
-
Allowing for choice. There isn't just 1 right answer but many answers & many ways to get there https://t.co/KJhFOk9wRA
-
A1: Education should be about teaching students HOW to learn more than WHAT to learn--thinking over regurgitation!

Q2 coming up in a moment!
-
Q2 coming up in a moment!
-
A1The connection between ideas, items, people those integrated relationships can help us define/use our talents
-
A1 by giving Ss the opportunity to produce or answer in creative ways. by helping them get involved in their own learning
-
-
Teachers create circumstances for students to thrive when they let students' passions drive the conversation
-
A1 when Ss participate in their own learning, a structured education can help them shine
-
A1 But if the formal education route doesn’t work one can try the informal one.
-
A2- Offer choice, encourage risk taking, let Ss decide how they want or need to demonstrate their learning, let go of fear
-
A1: by allowing students opportunities to learn through different skills, activities, and mediums!
-
A2 Personal passion for learning, high expectations of students, and a supportive and collaborative classroom env.
-
A2: By allowing students more freedom to choose/experiment with different styles and activities to learn!
-
A2 Personal passion for learning, high expectations of students, and a supportive and collaborative classroom env.
-
A2 Don't neglect the physical environment, layout of class, create chances for happy collisions between students
-
A2 Personal passion for learning, high expectations of students, and a supportive and collaborative classroom env.
-
A2 teachers should encourage and praise enthusiasm , not getting questions right
-
-
Open-ended inquiry questions that are relevant to the Ss in an environment that's safe to make mistakes https://t.co/jC0VcbbDxo
-
A2 Ss had t teach a class about viruses, & the Tt asked them to do it as a Play. that was years ago, and they still remember 1/2
-
A2 By providing opportunities for Ss to have real life experiences
-
Yes! Freedom of choice is so important! Allows Ss to take control of their own learning
-
having a class sign up chart to see what each student is doing as well as rubrics so Ss are on staying on track! 😊
-
there r teachers doing so but we need 2 create a recipe 4 this so that every teacher can practice it
-
A2 by teaching as a play, Ss were involved, made costumes, music, wrote a script, talents tht would not shine in Standzd Test 2/2
-
A2.Hand's on learning, multiple intelligence and building relationships to succeed and fail; perseverance and communication
-
awesome! how do you grade them?
-
Jenna, EdTech/STEM Specialist of Lake County, showing up late to the party with a cup of afternoon coffee!! (much needed :) )

A2 don’t forget physical environment includes off-site locations e.g. work placement /
-
A1. You don't know what you don't know, and neither do students.
-
-
a way to integrate to classroom and still on track with the curriculum. https://t.co/AzFmejHizO
-
-
having a class sign up chart to see what each student is doing as well as rubrics so Ss are on staying on track! 😊
-
Q3 How can we break out of a standardized model and match the right content with the right talent? https://t.co/7mv2Xe9DJf
-
-
. exactly! multiple intelligence - there are so many ways to grasp a concept!
-
The more Ss are involved, the more ownership of their learning. Ss talents can shine through their work.
-
do you keep these records? how do you analyze the the year long achievements or failures?
-
A2. exploration, open-ended assignments, and valuing failure
-
A3: through flexible grouping and differentiated instruction 😊
-
A3 UK tried to change with the 14-19 Diploma but it bombed - Ss Ts & parents went for the established routes instead
-
A3. Standardized testing, homework, old-school "behavior management," need to be done and we need to let kids BE kids and PLAY
-
A3 - By letting creativity, individual exploration and curiosity to lead education and letting "skills" supplement this
-
what are your ways to value the failure?
-
It's a hard beast to beat - traditional fallacy is so hard to overcome. The devil you know, as they say.
-
A3 by doing exactly what we're doing, connecting and engaging, willing to learn and open to new ideas. chats are a lot of help
-
-
A3 - Can't all talents demonstrate any content? Teach Ss to use talents to innovate solutions to real problems/As in content.
-
Yes!!! Solve them probs, yo! https://t.co/Stpa4ZBOru

A3 We must provide all students a quality core educatin while also encouraging and further of interests.
-
No matter their zip code, socioeconomic status, race, gender, attitude, behavior, or anything else. https://t.co/F1tIpa4jwv

-
Indeed I was involved with the development of the Public Services 14-19 Diploma - it looked good but ...
-
A3: Adjust application based on ss personality. It would be a tough juggling act! Abolish standardized testing
-
That should be a hashtag, lady!! https://t.co/yoqBTfgOcU
-
-
A3: Adjust application based on ss personality. It would be a tough juggling act! Abolish standardized testing
-
how would you know ss personality or prior knowledge to adjust the application?
-
By letting the Ss design the pathway. Open-ended questions lead to deeper thoughts to trying multiple solutions.
-
A3 fully agree with these and further of interests - then after listening we must act
-
Google forms, free draw, free write, classroom discussion - good question!!
-
don't be afraid to try new/different things, add fun to the lesson, use the talents+abilities of Ss for a better lesson
-
A3 2/2 If an education system's goal is achievement in standardized testing, then the path is standardized teaching.
-
-
Makes me think of the old one-room school house!
-
Tailor learning goals to Ss interests instead of a 1 size fits all model. Welcome their input & ideas https://t.co/WCA2S40R8L

-
TED_ED: Q3 How can we break out of a standardized model and match the right content with the right talent? …
-
-
-
exceptional (square peg) vs. standardized (round hole)- tough fit
-
must stay inspired & be willing to take a chance & think outside the box.
-
-
We have to move from the idea that std tests are the only "real" assessment measure. There are better more accurate ways
-
-
It is plus when in discussion listen to what are their passions
-
great! some students r coming from well-educated families some not. How do you help them to design the pathway?
-
-
How can we design for unlimited potential instead of a destination?
-
I concur! The more involved the greater depth of learning & a rise in confidence too! https://t.co/b5GBu1R4xY
-
-
The more Ss are involved, the more ownership of their learning. Ss talents can shine through their work.
-
Absolutely! the more ways Ss grasp a concept, the easier it'll be to retrieve that piece of information https://t.co/oOVQxdHxSK
-
-
don't be afraid to try new/different things, add fun to the lesson, use the talents+abilities of Ss for a better lesson
-
But we need to prepare Ss for REAL life, not just living with our box scores and standardized testing.
-
A4: By letting students research their passions especially using technology to research 💻
-
A4- By showing them they can change the world and connecting them to that world in any way possible.
-
A4.Sometimes we need to accept that we don't need to be experts, we can just be gateways.
-
A4 For starters, we can let them explore...
-
-
I think the issue is showing the politics there are way better assessment measures and convince them to use it.
-
A4 have high expectations for every child. treat students like they can do anything until they believe they can too.
-
ask the students frequently. Maker spaces help with this essential inquisitive environment.
-
q4 There are so many options now! We can find online mentors to support, video content for everything, infinite connections 2 hlp
-
And letting them share that research beyond the classroom!
-
https://t.co/BTS92mtVpB
-
-
But we need to prepare Ss for REAL life, not just living with our box scores and standardized testing.
-
-
Inspire Ss to be open to trying new things by modeling it ourselves! Trying new tech, teaching strats... https://t.co/x9qZrMlNFY
-
A3 Firstly, how do we know what a Ss destination is?
-
IMO, diagnostic assessments and other formative assessments are quite helpful.
-
-
. Agreed. I think that is where biz and industry can help apply pressure, showing our kids aren't prepared to work
-
YAAAAS!! https://t.co/ZFH1tP09dn
-
-
But we need to prepare Ss for REAL life, not just living with our box scores and standardized testing.
-
show and prove that you believe in them and in what they can do-in what they want to do. Support them as much as possible
-
Can even bring people with different professions to talk to class through Google Hangout!
-
do not tell them the goal is to reach to a destination. It is a journey and we do not know where it will take us.
-
A4 agree here - there are many routes and exploration is the key
-
I work in an area that is so geographically isolated it takes an hour to get to the I-5.
-
this is exactly the point! let Ss be involved in their learning process, they'll even enjoy it https://t.co/Pdr9xRPSIG
-
-
A4 have high expectations for every child. treat students like they can do anything until they believe they can too.
-
When I was a classroom teacher I had an entire wall dedicated to the process of "What to do when you fail"
-
The industry has been trying to show the schooling does not work. has his own school for his kids.
-
A4 Again, we must teach Ss HOW to effectively learn, and encourage them to pursue passions rather than purely emphasize content.
-
A prof once said, We have a long way 2 go b4 Ss are going to achieve beyond expectations. Beyond stuck w/ me.
-
A4 we should listen to what their passions are, and try to incorporate them into the lessons
-
how do u combine all these assessments 4 a bigger picture of Ss learning?
-
Teachers can start w/sharing their passion.
-
Ss and adults in general can help make a change, turn the world upside down, forget the norms and then help Ss do the same
-
we do not know it. That's why I say it is a journey&we do not know where it will take us.
-
Agreed but too often theyre the only measure valued. They cant be the sole determinant of who knows what https://t.co/nhutR0FOW7
-
-
IMO, diagnostic assessments and other formative assessments are quite helpful.
-
Portfolios as learning stories

do not tell them the goal is to reach to a destination. It is a journey and we do not know where it will take us.
-
Absolutely! We do hangouts and Skype a scientist/engineer/ artist/dancer/ whoever our kids have shown interest in
