A1: Two High look we are reading the #2 WR to side. Run pattern match concept so can't get eyes in backfield with coverage #SWARMFBCHAT
  • CoachKizer Jan 17 @ 9:09 PM EST
A1: have to have eyes on man in pattern read #SWARMFBCHAT
  • thejwfoster3 Jan 17 @ 9:09 PM EST

  • DCCoachP Jan 17 @ 9:09 PM EST
A1: We look at 1st uncovered OL. Any question on what you are seeing treat it as pass. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • CoachMHochard Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1 2 high. Eyes on 2. If he breaks short eyes to 1. If he is going deep we carry. CB drop and drag eyes on 2 looking for break #swarmfbchat
    • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:08 PM EST
Q1: Most asked Q; What are your vision keys and how do you break one from looking in the backfield? 1 high/2 high if poss. #swarmfbchat
  • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: I mean - it's a habit - you have to be on your kids and watch them as they watch their key if you want to break a bad habit #swarmfbchat
  • jrmyhanson Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
    Jeremy Hanson HC/OC Blair-Taylor, WI #swarmfbchat
  • coachjsam Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: it all depends on the coverage that you are trying to run #swarmfbchat
  • coachdober Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: 2-high vision key is EMOL (run/pass) to #2 receiver. Even on run read, we teach to never run by a #2 who is running a route #swarmfbchat
  • mk6_79 Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: Run a lot of 2 Read, so they have no choice. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachACraig Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
Aaron Craig, HD freshman coach, Junction City, KS. 20 years, high school and college. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • CODY_GARDNER Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1) Depending on the FS or WS & coverage. But they may be reading the backfield. WS in "sky" will cross read backs. 2read - #2 #swarmfbchat
  • CoachTWill22 Jan 17 @ 9:10 PM EST
Have tried different things. RPOs have made EMLOS key hard to teach now. Not peaking comes from success/failure for each kid #swarmfbchat
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:11 PM EST
A1: in 2 high we read last linemen in the box then progress to #2 on pass read #1 high read field guard #swarmfbchat
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:11 PM EST
A1: very tough- 1 high has to read through the line to backfield. Drill high vs low hat. #swarmfbchat
  • DCcoachV Jan 17 @ 9:11 PM EST
A2) 2 High, read #2 or EMOL. Stress from day 1 we don't care what goes on in backfield. #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 17 @ 9:11 PM EST
1 high = ball key. Depth = Vision. Late run supporter. On Pass eyes work #2 to #2 or 3-2-1 vs, 3x1. #SWARMFBCHAT
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • CoachJoshHadden Jan 17 @ 9:11 PM EST
A1: Hash or outside safety reads end man on LOS #swarmfbchat
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 17 @ 9:11 PM EST
Q1: we were 1 high (C3 base) team so vision key is #2 CB is secondary contain vs run so play pass first rally late to run #swarmfbchat
  • coachDCope Jan 17 @ 9:12 PM EST
We read everything from #2 emol uncovered lineman and lane of football. It depends on what gives us the fastest key #swarmfbchat
  • CODY_GARDNER Jan 17 @ 9:12 PM EST
Only the corners are pass first and OL are liars, so we will steal looks. #swarmfbchat
  • SSHS_CoachCoons Jan 17 @ 9:12 PM EST
A1: With 2 high safeties vision keys change based on if there is a #2 receiver to their side or only #1 WR formation based. #swarmfbchat
  • coachjsam Jan 17 @ 9:12 PM EST
A1: I will say the simpler the read the faster they play. Certain people can't lie #swarmfbchat
  • PigSkinCoach Jan 17 @ 9:13 PM EST
A1 2 high eyes on first uncovered in 10 per if any 11 per te read #swarmfbchat
  • CoachACraig Jan 17 @ 9:13 PM EST
A1: end man, more like "fat man on LOS," to your side. Action to you, slide to #1bf action away, slide to #2bf away. 2 high #SWARMFBCHAT
  • CoachAmara Jan 17 @ 9:13 PM EST
@rmacblue it's my first time in this chat! Still trying to get the hang of it! #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:13 PM EST
A1: I prefer quarters but if we are playing cover 2 read is #2 #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 17 @ 9:13 PM EST
2 high w/ no rotation, eyes go mesh to WR. May be an outlier, but don't like keying OL & can't eye WR unless man. #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • CoachTWill22 Jan 17 @ 9:13 PM EST
A1 cont: one year taped a stripe on the helmet to see where their eyes 'pointed' on film. Made them turn heads not just eyes. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 17 @ 9:14 PM EST
A1 The SS keys the quarterback for run/pass key ball up= pass...ball down=run main thing is don't go until you know #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_Miller21 Jan 17 @ 9:14 PM EST
A1. Two High key #2 WR to #1 WR to your side. Hard to break eyes into the backfield. 1/2 line route combo to rep eyes. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachHays13 Jan 17 @ 9:14 PM EST
A1: used to read end man on LOS, now Ball high ball low unless in man or match. #swarmfbchat
  • 3anout Jan 17 @ 9:14 PM EST
A1. Run/pass key EMLOS to backfield. If pass then read inside out use "Next man outside" rule #swarmfbchat
  • CarsonRileyDad Jan 17 @ 9:15 PM EST
A1: Am I only coach who has players who hate trying to read EMOL, reads are slow and some OL can be pretty sloppy #swarmfbchat
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:15 PM EST
So true in this day and age of football #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @CODY_GARDNER
  • Coach_JGill Jan 17 @ 9:15 PM EST
Think you can peak in BF, especially vs RPO heavy teams, but eyes must scan for info. Working progression is key. #SWARMFBCHAT
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • CoachM_Hancock Jan 17 @ 9:15 PM EST
    2 High, we read #2 to EMOL...work a high hat/low hat drill with 2 WR's & 2 linemen #SWARMFBCHAT
  • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:16 PM EST
I also think you have to have BASE rules - scheme should not always take you away from pass/run reads IMO #swarmfbchat
  • cahsfbchat Jan 17 @ 9:16 PM EST
A1 We were 2 Hi Cov 0, Safeties never played run unless there man blocked... "You cover this guy always" #swarmfbchat
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:16 PM EST
how well did this work?? #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @CoachTWill22
  • SSHS_CoachCoons Jan 17 @ 9:16 PM EST
A1 cont: breaking a player from looking in the backfield is reps upon reps. Having him learn from his mistakes. #swarmfbchat
  • Coach__French Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
Cody French Defensive line coach Seymour, IN #swarmfbchat
  • 3anout Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
A1. Defensive coaches tend to stand behind the defense. I move around and watch their eyes from behind the offense.#swarmfbchat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
Also think understanding scheme, coverage rules, & soft spots help kids have better picture. #SWARMFBCHAT
    In reply to @CoachTWill22
  • travisraley Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
A1: 2 High, we read #2 all the way. I've found it better than EMOL in high school. Must preach eye discipline every day! #swarmfbchat
  • CoachMocahbee Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
Already after only one question in I'm like... lol #liveinthetrenches #swarmfbchat
  • CoachGrayvold Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
A1 Read your keys! Depending on coverage will depend your key. Have to be disciplined, no magic answer. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
Q2: Another good one - HOW do you teach your FS/SS to play man vs WR off the ball? #swarmfbchat
  • CoachSReid Jan 17 @ 9:17 PM EST
#swarmfbchat late, but here, Scott Reid DL tomball, tx
  • thejwfoster3 Jan 17 @ 9:18 PM EST
A1 we don't read lineman. They lie. High school WRs tend to give a clear picture faster. #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 17 @ 9:18 PM EST
I'm partial to Belichick's when in doubt G.Y.A.B. Gain depth helps gain vision. #SWARMFBCHAT
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • CoachRmcD60 Jan 17 @ 9:18 PM EST
    What's your alignment to 3x1 or 3x2 in 3-4 2 high safety #swarmfbchat
  • CoachBarcenez Jan 17 @ 9:18 PM EST
Has to depend on formation. Then preparation throughout the week dictates reads #swarmfbchat
  • CoachMHochard Jan 17 @ 9:19 PM EST
A2 we don't. Only our corners ever play man. We are always 2/3 or 2 solo. Never man. #swarmfbchat
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:20 PM EST
This definitely has to be a route and run recognition practice idea. Beat the O's main plays into them #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @SSHS_CoachCoons
  • CoachCurran42 Jan 17 @ 9:20 PM EST
A2: Active feet. Sit. Punch V of the next hand on hip, ride. Prepare to FIGHT! LOVE MAN! #swarmfbchat
  • CODY_GARDNER Jan 17 @ 9:20 PM EST
A2) We play off man, WR being off isn't & issue. Biggest thing is I want DBs on same side playing man to be at different depths #swarmfbchat
  • CoachKelleyAHS Jan 17 @ 9:20 PM EST
Zach Kelley. DC and LB coach at Dallas Adamson in TX. Host of #425chat at 8pm Central. #swarmfbchat

worked really well. Could see when they 'peaked' think telling them why made an impact too. #SWARMFBCHAT
    In reply to @JasonConley20
  • CoachKizer Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
A2: I love catch man technique. Mirror inside hip of WR, collision and force outside #SWARMFBCHAT
  • coachjsam Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
Q2: motor and mirror. Punch at the hip and open to the man. Don't give up inside leverage. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachAmara Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
A1) 1 high, SS spins down keying #2 to EMLOS. If no detached #2, EMLOS through backfield. #swarmfbchat
  • BenClubb32 Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
A1: Always like to key tackle. Can come quick and fill vs run. #swarmfbchat
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
if you guys would just tackle the ball early, we wouldn't be having this chat!! #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @CoachMocahbee
  • CoachACraig Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
A2: know your opponents speed, play the ball side hip and play top side shoulder on cuts. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • CoachHays13 Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
A2: Depends on width from #1. If traditional slot we are inside shoulder off coverage allowing us to switch the crossing route #SWARMFBCHAT
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • Coach_Miller21 Jan 17 @ 9:21 PM EST
A2) We use a bounce man technique. Step down on snap to 6-7 and bounce until route declares. Watch hands and maintain leverage #swarmfbchat
  • BenClubb32 Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
A1: Rep out in practice to break bad habit of looking in the backfield. One of my pet peeves! #swarmfbchat
  • WR_CoachHepp Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
Steven Hepp DC Wisconsin Rapids HS #swarmfbchat
  • CoachM_Hancock Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
We work a "catch" man technique off the ball. Work press with the corners & catch with FS/SS. Got the term catch from a clinic #swarmfbchat
  • coachDCope Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
A2 they must know if they have help or no help. If I have post safety help outside unless WR over split no help inside lev1/2 #swarmfbchat
  • PigSkinCoach Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
A2 flat foot read inside leverage inside hand press to the sideline we are bringing the house #swarmfbchat
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
A2: we play a catch technique buzz down to 7 with hot feet then work leverage if you have MOF defender #swarmfbchat
  • The_Coach_A Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
. @CoachRmcD60 Play it like Under vs 3x1 & set the edges w/ a Buck Front to Empty. #SWARMFBCHAT
    In reply to @CoachRmcD60
  • coachdober Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
A2: come down to 5 yds from LOS. Inside mirror. Force outside release and be ready for quick throw. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachTWill22 Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
A2: mostly off-man inside leverage and forcing the outside throw. Looking in to more press looks this year. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • Th3K1nG15 Jan 17 @ 9:22 PM EST
    A1) Run a 2 read so they don't have a choice #swarmfbchat
  • CoachMocahbee Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
@rmacblue that's why we had the dline chat first lol #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @JasonConley20, @rmacblue
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
A2: must take a charge if they want to go vertical #swarmfbchat
  • CoachBarcenez Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
A2: teach different techniques based on coverage. Taxi down and press or press bail even trail. Reps and skelly #swarmfbchat
  • CoachCurran42 Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
Would love to see some drill tape on Catch man technique. #swarmfbchat
  • CODY_GARDNER Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
That is partly why we play off man, we play 2read so "closing" space is part & pre-snap it all looks the same. tech needs xover #swarmfbchat
  • CoachAmara Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
    A1) 2 high, both $afties key #2 to #1 in soft 2/qtrs. #swarmfbchat
  • freezysmalls Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
Freezy Smalls II, Jack Britt HS, Safeties Coach #swarmfbchat
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
A2- start by taking the inside away. So slight shade. Then work man drills. Mirror drill, track the hip, fade drill #swarmfbchat
  • CodyCaseNoSpace Jan 17 @ 9:23 PM EST
    Ummm.... #swarmfbchat
  • CoachJoshHadden Jan 17 @ 9:24 PM EST
A2: D&D and field position to maintain inside leverage. Read inside hip. Follow. #swarmfbchat
  • 3anout Jan 17 @ 9:24 PM EST
A2. Our SS would be in man vs. 3x1. We'd be in man free w/1 high FS. Inside leverage, track the hip. Absorb impact and run feet #swarmfbchat
  • SSHS_CoachCoons Jan 17 @ 9:24 PM EST
A2: If in 2 High Safeties we play soft man if SS down we play inside leverage and jam and run with receiver. #swarmfbchat
  • The_Coach_A Jan 17 @ 9:24 PM EST
A1: In a match quarters scheme the secondary has to key #2 while relating to the departure of their main threat. LBs read OL. #SWARMFBCHAT
    • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:08 PM EST
Q1: Most asked Q; What are your vision keys and how do you break one from looking in the backfield? 1 high/2 high if poss. #swarmfbchat
  • Th3K1nG15 Jan 17 @ 9:25 PM EST
A2) Inside leverage and force the throw outside. Mainly look for quick passes. #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_Palladino Jan 17 @ 9:25 PM EST
A2: off man in the slot..press on the outside. Inside hip engage/reroute no matter #swarmfbchat
  • freezysmalls Jan 17 @ 9:25 PM EST
A1 playing zone we read 2 to 1 but sometimes we read end man on LOS to help in run game we love safeties getting downhill fast #SWARMFBCHAT
    • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:08 PM EST
Q1: Most asked Q; What are your vision keys and how do you break one from looking in the backfield? 1 high/2 high if poss. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachGrayvold Jan 17 @ 9:25 PM EST
A2 Also depends on coverage. Leverage, depth, technique all depend on what coverage we're in + isnit man vs. zone #SWARMFBCHAT
  • BenClubb32 Jan 17 @ 9:26 PM EST
A2: Punch and open with receiver , mirror technique #swarmfbchat
  • cahsfbchat Jan 17 @ 9:27 PM EST
A2 we give him free choice on depth, but we want to force OS release #swarmfbchat
  • coachDCope Jan 17 @ 9:27 PM EST
A2 2/2 post safety help play trail tech play out cut squeeze WR to help No help slow out gets within yds transition stay on top #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_Miller21 Jan 17 @ 9:27 PM EST
A2) Biggest thing with off man is to soak up the route and blanket WR. Seen to many guys get beat being over aggressive #swarmfbchat
  • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:27 PM EST
Q3: Flat foot read vs Backpedal? Why/When/Reasoning? #swarmfbchat What about starting distance from LOS?
  • The_Coach_A Jan 17 @ 9:27 PM EST
Step-off read the hips, collision & carry, if the WR breaks out or runs a post TOP the route & compress. Don't press w/ Safs. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • freezysmalls Jan 17 @ 9:28 PM EST
A2 we use catch tech. we keep inside leverage and key the inside hip; we dont want a motor out because comebacks get us #SWARMFBCHAT
  • travisraley Jan 17 @ 9:28 PM EST
A2: Have calls to mix off-man or press for safeties. We mostly play a softer press so we are going to be 1 yard off regardless #swarmfbchat
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 17 @ 9:28 PM EST
A2: SS plays outside leverage catch man collision and carry feed to FS....CB plays press inside leverage off hand jam shuffle #swarmfbchat
  • thomps_03 Jan 17 @ 9:28 PM EST
A2 Dony play lot straight man. Off coverage would flat/buzz feet, read route, attack hip keeping inside leverage best we can #swarmfbchat
  • CoachMHochard Jan 17 @ 9:29 PM EST
    A3 I prefer flat at 17. We backpedal from 11-14. I think it's wasted steps. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • DCCoachP Jan 17 @ 9:29 PM EST
A3: We actually use a stick step. We always step down to the box first. CV4 shell want Safeties down hill right now. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • CoachBarcenez Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
A3: has to be a mixture of both depending on what coverage is called. DD and field position plays a part #swarmfbchat
  • The_Coach_A Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
I teach a "step-off" or step-replace. It keeps the feet on the ground = fast breaks. #SWARMFBCHAT Pedagogy Link :: https://t.co/5X5DTpprZ3
  • coachdober Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
A3: in quarters, 8 yds from LOS flatfoot/buzz feet read. In 2-read, 9-10 from LOS backpedal step first #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • CoachKizer Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
A3: Been backpedal guy just b/c we play pass 1st. Will flat foot read in certain D/D. Give freedom of 10-12 yards deep #SWARMFBCHAT
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
did off man make it tougher against RPO's or bubbles? #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @Coach_Miller21
  • cahsfbchat Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
Q3 Backpedal - its easier to start going backward and then come forward. Depth we give free choice if detached press-8yds #swarmfbchat
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
A3: as a quarters guy we have a mix of coverage who has 2 in flats if it's safety buzz down from 12 to 9 then play flat footed #swarmfbchat
  • brgredd Jan 17 @ 9:30 PM EST
A3 we're always buzzing our feet feel like it gives a quicker break towards route runner #swarmfbchat
  • coachjsam Jan 17 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3: it all depends on coverage and who's run support in the secondary #swarmfbchat
  • CODY_GARDNER Jan 17 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3) False step, pick the foot up 2" & back down. Give the brain a chance "see" what is happening. Better late than wrong #swarmfbchat
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3: if CB has 2 in flats slow controlled backpetal #swarmfbchat
  • DCcoachV Jan 17 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3) Flat foot read. Play press 1/4s as base and we want our safeties as run first players. #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_JGill Jan 17 @ 9:31 PM EST
Flat foot in any 2Read, Pattern, Match 1/4s scheme. Pedal out in any zone scheme where FS/WS is playing high to low. #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @rmacblue
  • CoachACraig Jan 17 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3: we clear our cleats based on LOS read & action to or away. CB only ones who backpedal. We clear, turn/close, run. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:32 PM EST
A3: to clarify we never play without buzzing our feet #swarmfbchat
  • Coach_Palladino Jan 17 @ 9:32 PM EST
A3: we put butt to sideline and drivefor corners We don't back pedal on outside. Become less athletic. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachTWill22 Jan 17 @ 9:32 PM EST
A3: 8 yds in quarters flat footed. 12-15 in 2 read with walk pedal based on speed of WR. #swarmfbchat
  • BenClubb32 Jan 17 @ 9:32 PM EST
    #swarmfbchat
    • BenClubb32 Jan 17 @ 9:32 PM EST
A3: Always say that first step should be backpedal. You can recover forward, you can't always gain depth. Also depends on coverage
  • freezysmalls Jan 17 @ 9:33 PM EST
A3: if 3x1 we like to be 5x1 on 2&3 to bracket them in and slow read in man tech. 2x2 its a solo call and we are catch tech #SWARMFBCHAT
  • Coach_JGill Jan 17 @ 9:33 PM EST
Believe footwork ties into run for responsibility. If MOF in C3 I don't want that guy flat footing. #swarmfbchat

A3 2 hi start clear cleet read step 1 hi start slow back tempo on by 3rd pedal #swarmfbchat
  • thomps_03 Jan 17 @ 9:33 PM EST
A3 Flat from 8-10 yards off LOS, gives chance to read then react to run/pass, we feel comfortable at that depth for what we see #swarmfbchat
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:33 PM EST
that's what I thought. Do you simply roll into man or disguise as another coverage? #swarmfbchat
    In reply to @Coach_Miller21
  • thejwfoster3 Jan 17 @ 9:33 PM EST
A3 we are primarily press quarters, so flat foot or step and gather down hill from 9yds. Want to play aggressively #swarmfbchat
  • CoachGrayvold Jan 17 @ 9:34 PM EST
A3 We actually do either. We kick slide for depth every single snap. Don't like pedaling, don't like flat footing. #SWARMFBCHAT
  • coachDCope Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
A3 if we r playing 4 or 2 read we take a rocker step which is read step if we r playing a dp 1/2,1/3 we open up & get over top #swarmfbchat
  • mk6_79 Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
A3: Use a slow back peddle. feel like it give safeties time to make correct decision. #swarmfbchat
  • 3anout Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
A3. We bounce the feet. Let the OLB bring #2 to the FS. Helps with safety run support. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachM_Hancock Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
We teach buzz their feet, depth for CB is 6-8 in C3 or 4. Depth for FS/SS are 10-12. But we also show press and bail too #swarmfbchat
  • JasonConley20 Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
A3: determined by DandD. Definitely want a backpedal in long distance plays. Also by coverage. I like quick buzz in C4. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachHays13 Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
A3: We call it a slow pedal read. I don't like to say flat feet it implies slow play. 8 off IS shoulder Slow pedal, attack. #swarmfbchat
  • The_Coach_A Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
Alignment in 4-Read = 10yds/2-Read = 12yds (fast bail/backpedal) but in each hold the inside shoulder of the WR (match cov). #SWARMFBCHAT
  • coachjsam Jan 17 @ 9:35 PM EST
A3: depth wise, you want to keep as close to the same as possible regardless of coverage to throw offense off, unless in man #SWARMFBCHAT
  • travisraley Jan 17 @ 9:36 PM EST
Backpedal on the snap in 2-Read. Ensures safety can get on top of #1 when #2 is not vertical. #swarmfbchat

  • SSHS_CoachCoons Jan 17 @ 9:38 PM EST
A3: play safeties at 8-10yds. Have players pretty much pick feet up and put them down while they read #swarmfbchat
  • CoachByrd_ Jan 17 @ 9:38 PM EST
A3: We see alot of quick game so flat food read is better for us plus not everyone can backpedal....5-7 yds off LOS #swarmfbchat
  • rmacblue - Moderator Jan 17 @ 9:39 PM EST
As usual, you guys are really making this chat valuable - you are doing a great job giving advice to those who DM'ed me the Qs #swarmfbchat

  • WR_CoachHepp Jan 17 @ 9:40 PM EST

  • coachdober Jan 17 @ 9:40 PM EST
A4: half-line & inside drill. OLBs communicate nonverbally with S before each snap so S knows whether to box ball or run alley. #swarmfbchat
  • CoachSReid Jan 17 @ 9:40 PM EST
#swarmfbchat A4 depended on the responsibility of OLB'S in that if they were contain the $'s would be downhill and vice versa
  • CoachMHochard Jan 17 @ 9:40 PM EST
A4 we teach them to run alleys on fast flow play side. Watch for cutback backside. Inside runs we fly up to make plays #swarmfbchat

#swarmfbchat A4 drills is like half line but skeleton, olb Coach and safety Coach work coverage and run fits v. scout team blocking
  • CODY_GARDNER Jan 17 @ 9:42 PM EST
Alley is usually easy, getting them to fit force is tougher or they'd be LBs. #swarmfbchat
  • DCcoachV Jan 17 @ 9:42 PM EST
A4) Use fit drill. With OL strip & scout as #2 WR. Coach does cadence. S to play is force - fits off WR block. S away - cutback #swarmfbchat
  • coachrothar Jan 17 @ 9:42 PM EST
A4: safeties do inside drill no 2 plays every fit the same they always have to make the LB right #swarmfbchat

  • travisraley Jan 17 @ 9:46 PM EST
A4: Safeties make the OLB right as they run the alley. Safeties become force to 1WR side vs big split. Do 3 v 3 perimeter drill #swarmfbchat
