We welcome all educators to join #AppleEDUchat every Tuesday. Our ADEs host chats from both Europe and the Americas with an incredible lineup of topics to spark conversation. Share your ideas & stories and connect with this global community. Join at 6pm PST or 9pm EST.
Welcome to #AppleEDUchat where tonight's topic is all about leaving the walls of the classroom! Everyone Can Create....Everywhere! Please introduce yourself and share a time you learned something while outside of a typical school setting.
Tonight's chat will be questions all about taking our students outside the classroom to learn. When you respond start with the letter “A” and the question number, and don't forget to use the hashtag #AppleEDUchat
Megan here from 😎 AZ! I recently attended an Apple conference in November and they took us outside to learn about photo editing tools and it was an amazing experience! #AppleEDUchat
Hi all! Jeremy Frick, 3rd grade teacher from Lakeport Elementary School in Lakeport, CA. Most exciting location I learned something outside the classroom was at the top of the mast on an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea! #AppleEDUchat
Carbone here! Chiming in from chilly GR Michigan tonight! I love learning outside the classroom from an expert themself-take PT for an example! I learn so much about anatomy from them! #learn#AppleEduChat
Howdy. I'm Mike from the Dallas area. I teach engineering and iOS App Dev. I have gotten so much helping my students over the years with their solar car. How can you not learn something by building a car and driving it cross-country? #appleeduchat
Rachel & Steven from Denver, CO. Best things we learned outside of the classroom was exercising outdoors and recording data using #Numbers ! #AppleEDUchat
#AppleEduChat A1: It's real. It's relevant. The world is our classroom. Learning is anytime/anywhere and should mirror the world outside the classroom.
Justin from Chicago, IL. Instructional Coach in Berwyn South School District 100. Excited for tonight’s chat! I’m always learning new things on @YouTube! #AppleEDUChat
Andy from Michigan! We attended a show "Bugs Bunny Goes to the Symphony".. Learned how they had to find the original analog instruments to recreate the music for the show... no digital allowed! #AppleEDUchat
Hi! Samantha from NY. Opportunities to learn beyond the typical school setting are endless and ensures learning can occur for anyone at any time....no boundaries! #AppleEDUchat
A1: Providing learning opportunities outside the walls of our classrooms adds authenticity to the learning and helps our Ss start to see themselves as learners all the time - builds that capacity for a lifelong learner mindset #AppleEduChat
A1) Student need to embrace the idea that learning does not stop with graduation. They can embrace life long learning - any place any time. #AppleEDUChat
Hi all - Marc Drumm, Senior Instructional Designer at West Chester University near Philadelphia. I learned how to fix my leaking shower from a YouTube video. Of course, it took the plumber 15 minutes, but it took me 5 hours… #AppleEDUchat
A1: We are life long learners. Learneing happens everywhere. Let’s really prepare our students for the real world and show them how to adapt to any circumstance. #AppleEDUchat
A1: I think that we show our students that learning is not just meant to happen in one place when we venture outside of our classroom and our school. Also some kids need that fresh air 😉#AppleEDUchat
A1: Hi all, Leah from Ohio. Teaching 8th grade science in a small community, I need to connect my students to learning outside our classroom walls. Science doesn’t stop after 40 minutes. :) #AppleEDUchat
A1: So much of our Ss learning is directly connected to what they are experiencing daily while NOT being in the four walls of the building! Taking them beyond the classroom beings to open up the world they are in every single day! #AppleEDUchat
A1: It would be crazy to say Ss only learn at school. They have some many experiences at home that they learn from each and every day. When the educator provides additional opportunities for Ss they are engaging students in their own learning beyond the classroom. #AppleEDUChat
A1: So Ss can see that learning can happen anywhere! We learn different things in different places every day as adults. So they should be able to recognize that too. #AppleEDUchat
That's the whole purpose of education, right? To learn about the world and for them to take their place in it. Makes sense to use the world as the classroom. #AppleEDUChat
#appleeduchat A1: Because learning happens outside the walls of schools, too! For the majority of us, school gets us hooked on learning, but it is what we decide to do with the power that knowledge brings us that makes us who we are later on in life.
Tanya Garza, Principal @ZavalaElemHCISD in Harlingen Texas. Most recently we conducted professional learning for our campus & our instructional team took us on an adventure with #EveryoneCanCreate books (Drawing, Photos & Videos) #AppleEDUchat
A1: Kids need to see that their work, their ideas, their thinking matters. Being outside the classroom opens up endless opportunities for that to happen. Also, the world can be inspiring. So much is out there for kids....#AppleEDUchat
Hi everyone! Petra from @PLPSeycove in North Van. As an Apple Distinguished School, one of our biggest things in using the #iPad to go outside our classroom for learning! #AppleEDUchat
A2: Honestly, how well can anyone REALLY learn in a box....even if it has windows! People there is a world out their.....get dirty in it! #appleeduchat
A1: Extending the learning beyond the classrooms walls creates endless opportunities for students to make relevant connections to the content. #AppleEDUchat
Kendell Middlebrook here in sunny San Diego. I was fortunate enough to get to intern at @NAU as a teacher learning about ecology in the field. #AppleEDUchat
A1 I think it is important to take the learning experience outside the classroom to demonstrate to our kids that learning can happen anywhere! They send so much time in the same classroom environment, taking them outside of its gives them a new experience #AppleEDUchat
Hey everyone! Hopping in late from the chilly and very Windy City! Instructional tech coach and my outside school setting learning session is learning to use my Cricut machine! #AppleEDUChat
A1: When you change the setting, students are more receptive to the learning, you get away from the ordinary; learning becomes more relevant; it’s easier to make deeper connections, and it is a lot of fun!⭐️⭐️⭐️#AppleEduChat
Hello #AppleEDUchat, Melissa from NM! A1: Learning outside the walls of the classroom is real in authentic experience. Your brain retains information differently when you experience through real involvement vs synthetic.
A1: guide on the side! information is free and accessible and if students wait for content to be delivered than they will be left behind. #AppleEduChat
A1: learning happens everywhere. With or without a device, there are always learning opportunities, connections to be made and stories to be told. Our tech resources help us create so our voices can reach even more! #AppleEDUChat
A1 Learning outside of the classroom helps put the lessons in context - it shows the students there are real-world reasons and applications for what they’re learning. It’s easy for them to miss that when they’re sitting in a classroom all day. #AppleEDUchat
Q2: walls should never define a learning environment. With the world as classroom, I love how Apple technologies connect kids to people, places, and ideas, transforming teaching and learning. #AppleEDUchat
Speaking of creativity…. have you all checked out the new and updated #APpleTEacher Learning Center? So much cool stuff - try searching "new skills” to see what happens… #AppleEDUchat
A2: Potential for increased collaboration and fostering multiple means of engagement & representation. These guides are a treasure trove of gems to get you started!! #AppleEduChathttps://t.co/f2Q7ev0wUe
A2: Access. Allowing all of your students the same opportunity to create and explore beyond the walls of the classroom. Giving students the opportunity to show their creativity through their understanding of concepts. #AppleEDUchat
#appleeduchat A2: My favorite response to this question is "organized chaos!" Kids should be free to explore their creative interests, looking for ways to personalize their learning and make lasting connections. A variety of resources and tools to accomplish a task!
A2: Students are engaged & are able to make more connections to their learning. We can provide this opportunity by letting go a little, which can be hard for teachers to do. #AppleEDUchat
A2 It looks raw and chaotic in the best way. The Ss are the ones who are navigating their learning-which is what we want! It embodies trust and empowerment. #EveryoneCanCreate#AppleEduChat
A2) Leaving the classroom can be what is needed for Ss to be more self-directed. Leading their learning with energy & a freedom they do not always have in the traditional classroom. #AppleEDUChat
A2 learning can look like this! We were outside today doing a photo project from #EveryoneCanCreate the kids were so engaged and excited to start making the class picture book! #AppleEDUchat
Dan, signing in late from Houston. Apologies, but had a little (read BIG) diaper explosion to deal with. Definitely had some major learning outside of the classroom over the past 12 weeks! #AppleEduChat
A2: Learning will be the experience we make. Learning about ecosystems, experience a nature walk. Learning about gravity, experience dropping watermelons from the top of the playground. The beauty is the tangible reality for everyone when we experience together! #AppleEDUchat
A1: Kids learn a lot of facts in a classroom but I think they learn a lot about themselves in their experiences out of class. Best of both world is to mingle the two! #AppleEDUchat
A2: leaving the classroom literally opens a world of possibilities! Ss can really be creative w their work, using video, photography, etc. All it takes is a little creativity; in our school, Ts have optimized “free bus Monday” with our city bus line for field trips! #AppleEDUchat
A2: Life outside the classroom provides connections to people, to events, and to hands on experiences. The connections we provide are as valuable as the content itself. This type of connection allows all learners to participate in their own way and own the material. #AppleEDUchat
A2: Learning outside the classroom is more student directed and really requires students to take more personal responsibility for their learning; teacher really has to facilitate and curate resources to aid in the experience #AppleEduChat
A2: learning should be what the students need for that day. They could be sitting on a rock writing a book or sketching a picture. They could be taking a photo and editing it to display its true colors. The possibilities are endless! #AppleEDUchat
A2: Connecting w/ community partners can open up opportunities to learn & engage in working field trip experiences. We do this w/an environmental group every yr. Ss collect data which is utilized by biologists in our city. #AppleEDUchat
A2 learning can look like this! We were outside today doing a photo project from #EveryoneCanCreate the kids were so engaged and excited to start making the class picture book! #AppleEDUchat
A2: experiences that students can share and remember. These can be anything, from organized meaningful trips to collaboration and work outside of the conventional classroom(even if it’s only a short walk away)#AppleEDUchat
So inspiring and I think both new to AT and ADE Community will find inspiration Love the “share” feature as well - tweeting opens up even more stuff! Explore, apply, share #AppleEDUchat
A2: Life outside the classroom provides connections to people, to events, and to hands on experiences. The connections we provide are as valuable as the content itself. This type of connection allows all learners to participate in their own way and own the material. #AppleEDUchat
Learning outside the classroom can extend beyond the school day and into the weekend, breaks, & summer & amplifies student accomplishment because it is driven by #studentchoice#AppleEDUchat
A2: The best way to allow Ss to learn beyond our walls is by engaging with the community and integrate an inquiry based or PBL model. There is a great deal of collaboration which allows Ss to make connections with concepts that might seem abstract in the classroom.#AppleEduChat
A2: Community engagement with our local estuary led to multitouch book and app that connects us to our environment and citizen science. That would not happen in the regular class period. #fieldtrips are a must!!! #AppleEDUchat
A2: the idea of what learning ‘looks like’ is a difficult thing to define. But opportunities to learn are all around us - we just need to help guide our students on recognizing when these opportunities arise. #AppleEduChat
Learning outside the classroom instills the idea that learning doesn’t stop at the final bell and your imagination can take you wherever you want to go. It helps us & our Ss see that most people have more in common than different. #AppleEduChat#connect#beinquisitive
A2 Students leaving the classroom doesn’t have to mean that learning ends, it just means that it can take place somewhere else. Online is an ideal location - everyone can participate and share what they’ve learned and/or created. #AppleEDUchat
A2: when I think of learning outside the classroom it looks to me like personalized learning. Not just with content, but flexible learning spaces where the content and conditions are unique to each leaner. #AppleEDUChat
A2: What if students leave their classroom to collaborate and visit a peer’s classroom or school? Then video conference to follow up! This would enhance collaboration, communication, and community. #AppleEDUchat
A2: Authentic...students are able to collaborate and take advantage of so many learning opportunities sparked by the environment surrounding them. #AppleEduChat
A2 So... I shared this earlier, but leaving the classroom opens the door (see what I did there?) for creativity... students can begin to compile seemingly unrelated ideas and find clarity in the juxtaposition. #AppleEDUchat
A2: Ss are moving. Ss are exploring. Ss are asking questions & discovering the world around them. Beyond the classroom can extend near & far. Lots of learning can happen to right outside of school & in Ss neighborhoods.#AppleEduChat
A1: Keeps students engaged at a very high level in purposeful education. In gov’t classroom we have students attend local meeting and volunteer. This shows students two things, 1. They can change the world, 2. There is still a lot of good in the world. #appleeduchat
A3: The camera on the iPad! Camera and photos are the perfect starting point for documenting learning outside the classroom. So simple, but that ability to bring the tech with you anywhere is a game changer #AppleEduChat
A2: What if students leave their classroom to collaborate and visit a peer’s classroom or school? Then video conference to follow up! This would enhance collaboration, communication, and community. #AppleEDUchat
A1: Learning occurs at all times and in various places. When students are given the opportunity to explore beyond the classrooms they make real world 🌎 connections. #AppleEDUchat
A3: We love using drones, iPods, iPads, Instagram, @VernierST tech, Keynote and Pages software, Google Forms… Collecting science data & building journal entries with a blend of tools! #AppleEDUchat
A3: Use the timer on your iPad Time will fly! Use Clips to create videos to explain potential hazards/revisit expectations. Students create checklists using Pages, so they are prepared to go into the field. Don’t forget to check your WiFi access before heading out! #AppleEduChat
A3: The iPad. We are a 1:1 device district and THE only thing needed to make outside learning possible is the iPad. From using time lapse in Camera to capture Maple Tapping to using Garage Band to create a sweet beat for a Poetry Slam...the resources are RIGHT there #AppleEDUchat
A3: for me it is essential to have the iPads and Apple Classroom when we are working outside the classroom. With students spread out it is easy for me to monitor their learning and redirect when necessary. #AppleEduChat
A3: if you are in a non WiFi environment, then airdrop is a lifesaver for getting materials to students. Also, the many built in iOS apps like notepad, and camera can work off the grid so the learning continues. #AppleEDUchat
#appleeduchat A3: I love using the @Apple iPad and the @AppleEDU#EveryoneCanCreate curriculum guides! But aside from those, @NotabilityApp for writing notes, Sketches School for drawings, and Clips/iMovie for recording the journey of what we see. Throw in GarageBand, too!
A3: Also used @GooseChaseEDU this past semester to facilitate a scavenger hunt that moved students to different locations and online resources; love Clips as a way for Ss to reflect on learning experiences #AppleEduChat
A3 iPads make it so easy for kids to create while learning on the go. Even in the bus on the way home from field trips, making eBooks, videos, animations abt the trip! #AppleEDUchat
A3: The camera allows students to capture from outside the classroom walls and continue the learning once back inside. Partner that with movie making apps like Movie Maker, @BookCreatorApp or Clips to all for creativity! #AppleEDUChat
A3: Lots of them! iPads offer many amazing apps for student creativity-From drawing to video, photography, and augmented reality, the possibilities are endless! My fav is Clips! Another fav tool is Apple Pencil; can’t wait til all my Ss can get their hands on them! #AppleEDUchat
Q3 being from a 1:1 Chromebook class, I am going to say that iPads are the way to for outdoor learning. There is no way my Ss could have done our photo lesson without iPads. Explain everything is a great tool for a shared whiteboard and AirDrop is great for sharing #AppleEDUchat
A1: #AppleEduChat We all learn from experiences in different places and at different times and from different people. The world is literally our classroom.
iPads and the native camera app allow students to be mobile and capture artifacts of their learning on the go. iOgrapher cases help students to stabilize their photos and videos #AppleEDUchat
If you haven’t checked out @LLacrosse’s book on creativity in science you need to!! All kinds of great ideas for using Apple tools for learning both in and out of the science classroom! #AppleEDUChat
A3: We love using drones, iPods, iPads, Instagram, @VernierST tech, Keynote and Pages software, Google Forms… Collecting science data & building journal entries with a blend of tools! #AppleEDUchat
A3: love the camera or Clips for documenting. Sketches school for mind mapping/generating ideas. Numbers for organization of a project or learning tasks. So many great tools I would run out of Twitter text! #AppleEDUChat
A3: I love that I can tell my Ss "I need you to show me ___" & they will pick from apps like @Seesaw , @ChatterPixIt, @BookCreatorApp, Pages & Clips & they'll show me their learning however it works for them. Didn't happen overnight though. #AppleEDUchat
A3: The iPad has become so robust in what it can do! And when you combine it with lessons from the Everyone Can Create curriculum, students can create some pretty incredible things! Most of their lessons don’t require the internet which can be a plus! #AppleEduChat
#AppleEDUchat Even using something as simple as the Voice Memo app can be the start of something big...podcast, storytelling, foreign language practice. Other ideas?
My students LOVED it! You set up challenges and Ss work in groups to accomplish each "mission." Looking forward to using it again this semester! #AppleEduChat
A3: #EveryoneCanCreate includes AMAZING resources utilizing the free apps on iPad and unleashing the creative power of students! Great for working both in and out of the classrooms to be sure students have voice and can express their ideas #AppleEDUchat
A3: Leave the classroom. Camera + ANY Apple app. Document and create. Even the front office is a mysterious and magical place to visit. #everyonecancreate#creativity#AppleEDUchat
A3: One of my students favorite activities is to grab a photo and annotate in Keynote… #ScienceInThePic They love to one up each other with what they are observing. A simple drop of rain on a window sill leads to light refraction, weather, friction, molecules… #AppleEDUchat
A3) Young adults take an iPad, bus pass & warm clothes to head out to learn & document in the community. They enjoy using @Joyofpl dice to set a challenging goal before leaving the room. All have downloaded #EveryoneCanCreate books, including teacher guide. #AppleEDUchat
Yes! Twitter, Facetime, and @Flipgrid have allowed my students to connect with other students and educators from around the world. Talk about a truly global learning environment #AppleEduChat

#AppleEDUchat Even using something as simple as the Voice Memo app can be the start of something big...podcast, storytelling, foreign language practice. Other ideas?
A3: Almost every student has an iPhone. Using their camera to photo/video tape for projects. During the Students first two weeks they create their own Jay Leno Jaywalking videos during our Govt Intro Unit. #appleeduchat
A2: Learning can look however it is to be meaningful and memorable for learners! For some it’s music, some art, others photography or prose. @AppleEDU tools help learners personalize their understanding and share! #AppleEduChat
For sure! Taking them away from wifi is sometimes even better…don’t google an image, build it in Keynote or pages with the shapes OR capture it with the camera. I think that’s more authentic and shows depth of thought. #AppleEDUchat
Also using a classroom twitter chat to guide appropriate online discussions on Govt current events as well as any issues with classroom homework/projects/activities #AppleEDUchat
A3 What???? Forms in @AppleEDU Numbers?!?!?! That's right, my friends. It's time to collect some data outside the classroom and analyze it accordingly. #AppleEDUChat
I used the free EDU version. You can get five teams for free. I found it easy to create my missions and challenges, and my students really engaged in the process and found the app easy to navigate during the activity #AppleEduChat
In reply to
@iTeacher5th, @LLacrosse, @GooseChaseEDU
A2: Hands on, creativity, Ss being engaged. Challenge yourself to plan an out door lesson with your students using one of the Everyone Can Create lessons and then begin to integrate them with specific content that is purposeful to their learning. #AppleEDUchat
A3 I think just about everyone here would probably agree on mobile devices: iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, etc. There are some good subject-specific Apple Watch apps too like Babbel and Night Sky. #AppleEDUchat
A3: iPad w built in #Apple apps is the best mobile learning tool. Ss can take it anywhere. Camera is perfect for capturing learning & apps like Clips & Keynote are perfect to share content. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Students often use their iPads outside the classroom. Mostly the camera to capture and document so that they can support and create evidence of their learning. #AppleEduChat
A4: not only are they amazing in the classroom the guides have helped me be more creative in my personal life. The photography book has really helped me! Take a look at this awesome pic! #appleeduchat Lol.
A4: Currently our @MMSMAKERS are working through the #EveryoneCanCreate projects to develop mastery within the creativity tools. The dream: for them to be innovators and create the life ahead of them. Learning is just the beginning for these Middle Schoolers! #AppleEDUchat
A3: free resources that are shareable to the global audience to amplify ideas and voices! IPad apps and tools that can be used to share through Twitter, FlipGrid, SeeSaw, Instagram to inspire and connect others to our own causes, learning, & passions! #AppleEduChat
A4: What I love about these guides is how they outline and teach real world creative experiences. Making movies, taking photos, drawing portraits. Endless possibilities to connect outside the classroom. #AppleEDUchat
When students leave the confines of thei classroom the become more aware of their environment. This allows them to become more creative. #appleeduchat#everyonecancreate
A4: Any of the lessons in #everyonecancreate can be modified to be used outdoors with iPads. As to critical thinking asking the right questions at the right time will help to culminate that area #AppleEDUchat
A1: Learning outside the classroom allows students to have the experiences that go along with real life applications and make the connection between what we want them to learn and how it pertains to real life situations in their world. #appleeduchat
A4: As an art teacher I often have Ts asking about ways to use creativity in their lessons. #EveryoneCanCreate gives Ts the confidence & ability to give it a whirl! Tech also levels the playing field for schools that can’t afford art supplies for every classroom #AppleEDUchat
A4: Kids need to see themselves as photographers, as artists, as musicians, as directors to help deepen and connect the learning with who they are as unique individuals. #AppleEDUchat
A4 My middle school students started using the #EveryoneCanCreate Photo book today. Immediately started trying the ideas and editing tricks. #AppleEDUchat
YES! It is wonderful! Our community has always had this as part of their city bus program; makes taking the kids places much easier! Also great for our lessons on community and culture, some of our kids had never been to “landmarks” in our own city! #AppleEDUchat
A4: I think the authors of the guides did a fantastic job. Especially categorizing the books. They are very user friendly and a great resource. Love sharing them with teachers and students! #AppleEDUChat
A4: #everyonecancreate allows students the ability to express their ideas so that they can clearly communicate to the world about what they are seeing and learning #appleeduchat
A4: I love the way that the guides scaffold Ss through creative skills! Many of my undergrad Ss label themselves at "not creative" because they haven't been asked to express their thinking in creative ways in a long time -- the guides build their creative confidence #AppleEduChat
A4 agreed! The guides walk you through looking at tools experiences and objects through a different lens. They inspire innovative creativity. #AppleEDUChat
A4: #everyonecancreate books are amazing guides and it’s even more amazing when students use these ideas outside of the classroom for learning!! So creative!! #AppleEDUchat
A4: creativity pushes that critical thinking forward. Giving students more opportunities than simply filling out a worksheet build real skills for the future. #AppleEDUchat
A4 The #EveryoneCanCreate guides can help a teacher promote multiple means of engagement and representation for assessment purposes. But the real power comes with the level of student engagement that comes when Students are challenged to create! #AppleEduChat
#AppleEduChat SWAG ALERT. Check out the Project For Change series I created with @cindyherren. These videos bring #EveryoneCanCreate outside the classroom. So amazing to see how social change and moving outside the classroom are connected. Love this @meredithedtech
A4 They’re a good source of ideas. Teachers don’t always have the time to research the latest in technology, and these guides give them a solid foundation to start from. #AppleEDUchat
For sure! Taking them away from wifi is sometimes even better…don’t google an image, build it in Keynote or pages with the shapes OR capture it with the camera. I think that’s more authentic and shows depth of thought. #AppleEDUchat
A4: It can provide Ts with a variety of different lessons and ideas that can go beyond the traditional classroom. Expanding on what is expected to be "learning" & digging deeper. #AppleEDUchat
A4) We use the guides when we are beginning to plan, suggestions, ideas etc. Young adults can gravitate to the guides that speak to them. Then they collaborate together making an incredible team. #AppleEDUchat
A4: When students wanted to create Science Raps with Garage Band, I instantly downloaded #EveryoneCanCreate music to work with. #notanexpert but I could connect them to support. Love those guides! #AppleEDUchat
A4: These guides open the door to limitless opportunities for creativity...From an #appsmashing session at the city park, to a digital story narrating a virtual expedition culminating in the creation of a book in pages. #AppleEduChat
A4: the nature of the guides provide transferable skills and non-specific content. Capture sounds from outdoors to loop and make a tune ☑️ draw what you imagine your surroundings would look like when it’s raining ☑️ The world is your oyster! #AppleEduChat
A4 If I was on a deserted island with only 5 books on my iPad, they would be the #EveryoneCanCreate project & teacher guides. I. Love. Them. #AppleEDUchat
A4: The guide allows the students to have the freedom to create anything, anywhere. It doesn’t limit their creativity to one app and allows them all to flow together seamlessly. #AppleEDUchat
A4: I'm excited to experiment w/the #EveryCanCreateVideo guide for silent films that my Ss do not yet know they will be creating in a literacy unit of study we will be starting based on the 1st SciFi film made by filmmaker Georges Melies! #AppleEDUchat#TheInventionofHugoCabret
The #EveryoneCanCreate guides provide support & scaffolding for teachers & students so that they can learn the apps quickly & focus on their learning & creativity #AppleEDUchat
“Everyone Can Create” guides provide teachers with great ideas and a format that they can easily adapt to fit the needs of their students. These guides are the answer to the common question “what does this look like?” . #AppleEduChat
A:2 As a science teacher, I believe that learning can take place anywhere. Utilizing students' natural curiosity and combining it with today's technology is a recipe for success. #appleeduchat
A5: Our Ss can engage in community projects, gain new cultural insight, engage with new opinions and ideas; opportunities for connectedness make us all better, more empathetic people #AppleEduChat
A5 Allowing Ss to embrace their community and to seek improvements for the challenges that they face. Ss feel they can be a part of the change and their voice does matter. #AppleEduChat
A5: My principal and fellow ADE @mschmitz_1 believe that when we consider the classroom not as a physical room, but as the world where collaboration and creativity exist, learning opportunities are endless to impact community and make a better tomorrow. #AppleEDUchat
A5: Learning outside the classroom directly impacts the surrounding community because it makes the communitie’s successes and failures learning opportunities. We go out to learn to make things better. #appleeduchat That made sense in my head.
Q5- I combined Q4 and Q5! We are working to build a resource for families to get daily essential at our school. Students can use #everyonecancreate to create and display our mission and vision.#appleeduchat
A5: It permeates beyond the walls of the classroom by its very nature, but it is our job as educators to help our students and the community recognize those connections. #AppleEDUchat
A5: When Ss are empowered, they will change the world. @MMSMAKERS created amazing innovation projects taking real life world problems and creating a solution for them, prototypes and all. Their gallery hop presentations BLEW ME AWAY! Creativity is just the start 🤩#AppleEDUchat
A5: Learning outside the classroom directly impacts the surrounding community because it makes the community’s successes and failures learning opportunities. We go out to learn to make things better. #appleeduchat That made sense in my head.
I teach Integrating Tech & Teaching , and it was interesting to see how many Ss entered the class saying they weren't "techy" or "creative" but after spending the semester creating, expressed a lot more confidence in their abilities to teach creatively w/ tech #AppleEduChat
Q5- I combined Q4 and Q5! We are working to build a resource for families to get daily essential at our school. Students can use #everyonecancreate to create and display our mission and vision.#appleeduchat
A5: it can engage the community to continue encouraging support for our students, but also help everyone to see how big of an impact students can make with their learning. Giving students a voice and empowering them to lead. #AppleEDUChat
A5: To have them see the positive effects school & learning can have. The community I work in has an history of education not being a positive experience so getting them engaged is hard. #AppleEDUchat
It really is all about repeated use and exposure, no matter the age of the learner...when you're challenged to engage in creative tasks, you begin to view yourself as more creative #AppleEduChat
A5: When my students tested water quality around town this fall, we got attention from some local fisherman. They kept asking, “Did you find anything?” Cool connection! #communityengagement#AppleEDUchat
For sure, Jessica - some practice and encouragement is so critical - opportunity and inspiration #AppleEDUchat#buildconfidence The guides are super helpful on all levels, for T and S alike
A3: I love the CLIPS app! My students use it to record and document key information on their weekly science experiments. They compile footage and create a scientific masterpiece. @clipspiration#appleeduchat
@meredithedtech A4: #EveryoneCanCreate guides are perfect to share civic engagement, social justice wants/needs/movements, artifacts of learning, all while creating in the process - pick your passion (🎶📝🖌🖍📚📊📈📽🎙🎸🎬) and share your creative voice!#AppleEDUchat
A5: we forget how isolating a classroom can be. When our students are outside experiencing and showcasing their learning they benefit from an authentic audience. The community witnesses the brilliance of their children and seeing the product of their creations! #AppleEDUChat
A5 It’s never been easier for students to share what they’ve learned online. And these days, anybody has the ability to bring attention to a cause or issue through social media. #AppleEDUchat
A4:The guides provide a foundation to the implementation of various skills. They teach Ss to develop & communicate ideas through drawing, photos, video, & music. They ignite creativity by giving teachers fun & meaningful ways to bring these skills into any lesson. #AppleEDUchat
Thanks! If we give them the power to choose how to show it & not control it then it definitely will help with understanding & confidence! #AppleEDUchat
In reply to
@cicohen, @Seesaw, @ChatterPixIt, @BookCreatorApp
A5: we’re lucky that @NAEducation has a partnership with @UNICEF so global issues become localized. Add that to the @iborganization focus on service learning, it’s difficult to not believe that children can and will change the world! #AppleEduChat
A5: when the community sees Ss using devices to create and not just consume they are amazed by their skills. The guides really help Ss and Ts make that shift #AppleEDUChat
Even young learners can impact there community and beyond through #Citizenscience One girl said she thought about stopping but kept going because she wanted to help the scientist and the sea lions. #AppleEDUchathttps://t.co/54jJrrRgHv
A5: Movies inspired by the ECCreate guides helped bring attention to local historic attractions. This “ghost town” video shot on location by @PLPSeycove learners is a great example: https://t.co/IPhvggmUuS#appleEDUchat#PBL
When my students used iPods to capture the sound of the estuary, the scientist working with them was really inspired. Next year, we are going to work a soundscape section into the trip! #AppleEDUchat
