a1. Visually, I like presentations that either grab me with some sort of emotional response, or otherwise help me focus on what the presenter is discussing.
#engagechat
A1: presentation has to be flashy without being over the top. Get people's attention to hear you. Slides should just be the appetizer to what your going to say.

A1: Effective presentations engage the participants and make them part of their own learning. Connections are made, not just with the content, but between people. #engagechat
There has to be a connection from the presenter to participant that comes from engagement, passion & enthusiasm meeting the needs of those who are in attendance #engagechat
#engagechat
A1: Presentation is engaging to the audience, with little words on screen and more visuals. Interactive elements are useful to get audience involved and interested
A1: One that has clear objectives, conceptual & practical contributions, hands-on, addresses multiple modalities, has active participation, and includes follow up. #Engagechat

#engagechat Simple, straight to the point. Stream-lined. A slide show with graphics and pictures, few words to keep the audience engaged and focused. A steady, impactful voice.

A1-an effective presentation has conversation, brainstorming,Q&A, excitement, and maybe even some movement! Keeps the audience actively engaged! #EngageChat#conversechat
#engagechat A1 The best presentations are those that are organized, energetic and thought-provoking. Eye contact, move around the stage and draw in the audience at every word.
#engagechat Research your topic, feel comfortable with the information. Practice practice practice. Use note-cards with bullets not a written out speech. Time it- make sure you stay concise and interesting. Tell some anecdotes and jokes keep the audience engaged.
I once sat in a presentationwhere the presenter came in, loud, enthusiastic, & entertaining...& then he stopped & calmly asked the engaged audience if it had got their attention, as his daughter would have said that was not who he was, normally. #engagechat
A2: It is basic, but to prepare for a presentation you should know your audience so that you can meet their needs. (Sounds like a classroom lesson!) #engagechat
A2: Know my audience, prepare outline, determine opening & closing, choose engaged learning experiences while keeping in mind, "A speech is like a womanโs skirt: it needs to be long enough to cover the subject matter but short enough to hold the audienceโs attentionโ #engagechat

A2 look at your slides or resources, think through the main ideas you want to convey, ask yourself if you would want to see that slide ;) too much info, hard to read? think of main message and focus on pacing, think thru poss Qs, ways to engage audience #engagechat
A2 Practice on an audience that has never seen you present and then ask for feedback...Spouses do the best job at being truthful...My wife says "ummm no, not gonna work" #engagechat

A2) make sure you have all your technology in order. Videos work, have proper connectors and possibly access to wi-fi. No matter how much you rehearse, tech can let you down. #engagechat
#engagechat A2 Use vocabulary that is audience appropriate. An audience wants to feel connected to the topic. Boredom comes when we as an audience feel a disconnect.
Saw a film editor speak once. Said you need 3 friends at 3 stages of an edit.
Once seen that person can not give unbiased feedback a second time #engagechat

A2-determine your goal, collect your ideas and ideas from others, practice, but be prepared to go a different direction if your audience needs it! Be Flexible! #EngageChat#conversechat
#engagechat I love these responses. We have all been in an audience and we have all been on the edge of our seats or falling asleep. It is all about energy, enthusiasm, and empathy when we understand our audience we know what they need
A2: Prepare resources to leave with the audience especially if the topic is info-heavy. Hyperslide it, instead of putting too many words. Just link to docs. #engagechat
Good evening #engagechat-- checking in late (sitting by the fire outside).
I'm Jess, 7th grade writing teacher in Texas. Here's my latest blog post if you're interested: Why I teach... https://t.co/AeYehclzbB
Can also include a QR code to your presentation or part of it on a handout for the audience to view later. Could come in handy if tech fails #engagechat
#engagechat Get the audience to invest from the first words out of your mouth- give them purpose, relevance and connection instantly and they will commit to listening
A2: Have a thorough knowledge of your topic & a knowledge of the audience you are speaking to; their knowledge level & what their expectations are. Be engaging but also engaged yourself almost to the point of being evangelistic in presentation. #EngageChat
#engagechat Prezi is a great alternative to Power-point but also live streaming/vox through Skype or Facetime works well for me. My favorite for my classroom is podcasting with @audioboom
A3 Usual of google presentations, ppt, Keynote, but also have used @nearpod@Buncee@tes_teach for them, showing you can use these tools so creatively and include more for it to be interactive #engagechat

#engagechat A3 I love to have a Slideshare going in the background while I give a presentation. or Prezi but my focus is on not too many distractions to do what I feel the most comfortable using so it feels effortless
#engagechat I truly believe the best presentations come from people who are knowledeable, well-rehearsed and confident. When they own the 'stage' and welcome us in to their dialogue we are engrossed and engaged
A3: Google Slides can get a bad rap but has a lot of capabilities. Share it & have participants use the comment tool to respond. Insert video from Youtube & trim them down. Hyperlink to video discussions on @Flipgrid. Slides does not have to stand alone. #engagechat
A1) Iโm sure I have an attention span of about no more than 20 minutes- The more chances you give your audience to talk and interact with your message, the more they learn and remember. #engagechat
Use the right tool for the job ... what do I want people to remember ... fireworks or the message? Whatโs the point of the flash if people donโt remember the purpose of the flash. #engagechat
#engagechat A good alternative for my students is stop motion video with overlay of their voices. We use this with adaptations and ecosystems it is a fun way to present rather than a stand in front of the room venue

#engagechat Lack of preparation. If you do not practice, using the technology and timing the pacing then things can easily go awry. Nerves often get in the way, causing the speaker to lack eye contact and stage prescence
I like to create in different tools, to see if I can and how it works, I have Buncees full of other tools, Nearpods with Buncees, you name it :) #engagechat

A4: One barrier is making sure the content is beneficial to the entire audience. If not....it must be differentiated! Ss & Ts need differentiation. #EngageChat#CESLEAD

A3 Went to an Edcamp where they had a QR code to participate in a World Cloud that was displayed for everyone to see - Could see it in real time #engagechat
A4: not knowing what the heck youre talking about. Not knowing your audience. Not practicing. Being boring. Not having a back up plan if the technology fails.
#EngageChat
A4-problematic technology, an unexpected audience, nerves, and the pressure of doing well in front of all those pairs of eyes!๐ณ #EngageChat#conversechat
A4: Barriers to effective presentations for me can be when I do not have time to prepare, there is a change in audience & when language or international culture is an issue #engagechat

I use Google Forms to collect student responses to bell ringers - then paste into Word Cloud generator to spark discussion from their input. #engagechat Kids love it because everyone has input.

A4: Not being prepared for things to go sideways or like Willy Wonka said "the Wonkavator can go sideways, and slantways, and longways, and backways..." #EngageChat
A5:Confidence because they know their topic, audience, and prepared. They come off as natural and make you feel like they are talking to you.
#EngageChat
A5 Excited and passionate about what they are presenting, confident, has resources avail, willing to help others, includes time for audience to interact, ask Qs, is responsive to audience, flexible with any bumps in presentation, aka wifi :) #engagechat

A5. #engagechat Some attributes of a great presenter are: relatable, open to other opinions, the audience can tell they are really into their topic and passionate about the content they are talking about.
#engagechat For me, memorable and knowledgeable. I want to trust them from the moment they enter the stage. When I see them as an expert who is both confident and humble-I am all in and I listen with intent
A5: Great presenters bring a message that's pertinent for their audience & builds them up to a point where they're ready to go out and try things they wouldn't before you got there. #empower#EngageChat

#engagechat When I go to conferences, I generally sit in the back, just in case, I know very quickly if I want to invest my time. I love to listen to a good presentation- bad ones- nope, I sneak out
A5: Selfless. The presenter needs to empower the participants. You need to honor your particpants time. Let them do the thinking and make the connections. It's okay to be entertaining, but know that it's not about you. #engagechat
You can't fake the passion or the expertise. The more genuine the presenter is, the more I want to be part of that session. I can think of one presenter that I walked out the minute she started speaking - her 'welcome' was so fake and over the top. #EngageChat
When I present I try to talk to people throughout the room to not only get a feel for where they're from, but more importantly where they're at. #EngageChat
