A1 I was a Kansan about to move to OK when I first saw and I was jealous of the greatness on the Twitter they had.

A2: I have built a solid PLN of friends. Met members like & received PD 4 our school from him.
I'm still stuck on the CBS ad that said "Then, Now and All Ways."
I can totally relate! It's great to have some of these discussions with other educators even if not in your building!
Feel the same way. Knowing my challenges are others as well. https://t.co/EGHZWkrwiS
A2 I always say that Twitter & the support I get from it has kept me in education!

has helped become leaders as we move to 21st century learning
Even when we disagree, we help push each others' thinking. Always good.
Q3 Coming up in 1 minute…
Hi, ! I'm not very interested in this super bowl game so here I am!
A1. I read an article about it. Also I found it browsing Twitter!
Its possible that was an day! https://t.co/avyXt1rQfZ
A2: I have built a solid PLN of friends. Met members like & received PD 4 our school from him.
Note Self. Don't heckle Scott when he is moderating the chat...
LOL That's true too, even when we don't want to hear it!
Sorry my tweets rarely have enough room for 2 hashtags... I'm long winded.
Allows parents like you to have involvement and insight that might not be possible otherwise!
I'm so glad you're on Twitter! It's great seeing what you are doing!
A2 I've even met like minded people in my (huge) school district that I wouldn't have otherwise
Doesn't that take all the fun out of it? :)
It is good tone able to reach out with .
aww your kitten looks my kittens twin
reading this four minutes later….umm….
A2: Broadening my horizon as I learn about new ideas from new and well-informed professionals.
Yet we do this and that is proving my point for tonight! https://t.co/crt5eeqxwZ
It takes skill to keep up with & / in the middle of an interception/fumble/fumble scenario.
Because you're important and I'm proud you were at edcamp!
A3 -- LOL -- I realize I sometimes misspell in my haste to type and lose my tweets. :)
A3: I generally have found that these types of chats require you to keep on your toes due to the fast pace
A3: Sometimes it's hard to keep up when the chat is going really fast, but you can read the archive later.
Is yours also trying to prevent you from typing? Mine is quite annoyed. :)
A3: Participating in can be a challenge when I'm traveling or I need to step back in my role & just observe
A3) In some way we were called out by the Daily Oklahoman today
A3: The group chats can get a bit echo-chambery - "WE HAVE TO DO WHAT'S BEST FOR KIDS!" and such. Well no $#%*, thanks for that.
A3: And if someone doesn't "get" you, things can get awkward pretty quickly - but that's not an thing so much as a Twitter thing.
a3: Took awhile to catch on at first. But got some good advice and started using tweet deck - makes the chats easier.
A3 I can't think of any challenges. It's always been a safe place to speak my mind.
A3: A lot going on Sunday nights at my house, so often have to settle for reading after the fact.
nothing but the tough ???’s tonight :-)
What is tweet deck? Good lord I am 40 arn't I!
Just my very annoyed cat.
A3: putting out my ideas to the masses without them knowing me or my tone. Making sure I express myself accurately in 144 characters
A3 well it's definitely pushed me into using Twitter more...but the personal challenges have been huge!
A3) My only challenge is trying to keep up with all the tweets, and making a thoughtful statement in a tweet.
Online tone is very hard to judge...happens to me a lot.
A3: Sometimes people don't like me because I'm too positive. Sorry not sorry for the unicorns.
A3.. Timing. Sun night is hard ... grading prep. Etc. (just had to return a redbox ). LOL.
A3) it challenges my ability to use my thumbs quickly because I'm old
Sort of. They don't really seem to understand hashtags. https://t.co/ldW8YM6njb
A3) In some way we were called out by the Daily Oklahoman today
A3 chats can be a bit overwhelming for newbies, sometimes it's hard to convince new twitter users to participate
A3. The only challenge I find is the critical thinking required to answer some of the very well thought out questions!
Sometimes I have been questions for who the moderator of a chat was
A3: The format negates my suave tone and smooth charm, so I end up sounding like a horrible person slightly more often than normal.
A3: Still trying to learn about twitter can be a challenge. Getting behind in the questions sometimes. Baseball season...
https://t.co/KTi0KHA5Wz
A3: super frustrating to try and find the question. Based on Twitters top tweet algorithm, I often miss the question
TweetDeck is the best way to keep up with various chats. It lines 'em all up for you!
A3 the scheduled time... but seems there is never really a perfect time
A3: Yes! is at the same time as Also, sometimes I feel like my comment sound negative when it's not intended
A3 No real problems participating although I find it difficult to convince colleagues to give it a try
it keeps all of these tweets organized - you should check it out!
not horrible, just passionate! https://t.co/YJgWVUlCiP
A3: The format negates my suave tone and smooth charm, so I end up sounding like a horrible person slightly more often than normal.
Tweetchat is a great way to join chats
a3 Sometimes 240 is just not enough. But the limitation is helps keep us long-winded folks in check.
A3: I'm new to this so I'm just trying to keep up :)...oh and my net sucks! lol
A3: Keeping up with the chats, reading everyone's response, and making sure that my tweets are grammatically correct.
Why on earth would they call out ? Are we not supposed to communicate?
A3 only obstacle getting. Others to see power but helps when r State supt joins us
A3. Just started using Twitter, first time in an chat, trying to follow tweets can be very overwhelming for a newbie like me!.
3) keeping up with the fast pace of Sunday night chat on can b challenging especially when I don't arrive right on time!
TRUE THAT. It was extremely hard to get people in my old site to see the value of Twitter.
I am always last to know.
This chat has become a super fun but super busy time!
TweetDeck is the easiest way to have more than one Twitter thing going at once!
yes! People who disagree with me and won't let it go!!
A3: The only challenge I face is remembering to log on! 😜
A3: I use my phone 4 chats a lot & miss tweets in the Twitter app. Frustrating! Grateful 4 & her !
Me too. is always up so I can follow along during the day.
Q4 coming up in 1 minute…
w/such awesome ideas make me reflective about my own teaching & how much more I can be is my own challenge. https://t.co/fRbL7jCmQq
A3: Buy in from professional colleagues & researchers about the value of has been a challenge
A3: You mean, other than the kids not falling asleep promptly at 8? 😜
A3 Timing. Most often reading as I can or afterwards to catch up just bc Sunday nights are still busy family https://t.co/wrUFmCNFoV
right here folks! https://t.co/qDKGtvfudb
A3 only obstacle getting. Others to see power but helps when r State supt joins us
A3- sometimes as a parent finding meaningful input when teaching specific topics are discussed.
Late to the chat. I will do my best to make up for it with some wise and pithy comments!
they need to hang out with us on Sundays… 8CTS
A4 Chats are better than most PD, so yes & no both.
A4) yes I believe my participation has helped me grow as an admin
So true... https://t.co/bIJHUDyUpr
A3 No real problems participating although I find it difficult to convince colleagues to give it a try
sometimes I learned the most from just lurking
A4: Yes! I learn so much and get good resources. Plus it encourages me to keep being positive and being the best T I can.
A4: I go to work talking about our chats so to me that is PD! It's better than any other PD I have received...and it's FREE!
A4: PD? I'm not sure. I think of PD as more strategy-based, and not nearly as engaging. is valuable and helps me be a better T...
A4: is absolutely . I learn so much from our Ts & As.
A4: Yes, this is some of the most focused education talk I get, which helps all of us grow and learn as Ts!
A4 Absolutely! Best PD u can get apart from edcamps and actually sitting in on other Ts' classes!
A4: Yes, given that I am fairly new to education as field, it helps me to get the perspectives of others
A4 Yes! is one of the best PD out there next to Edcamp. I can get my Qs anwered w/o leaving the house. Win/win.
A4 Yes! is one of the best PD out there next to Edcamp. I can get my Qs anwered w/o leaving the house. Win/win.
Good to know for when I miss it that does & ! https://t.co/rda7Tgqk1t
A3: I use my phone 4 chats a lot & miss tweets in the Twitter app. Frustrating! Grateful 4 & her !
A4: maybe not PD, but definitely a wealth of information
A4: Because I'm learning from people that are actually in the classroom.
A4 yes...makes me a better teacher and leader but in a wholly unquantifiable way
A4: I don't know. Not really, but the benefit isn't so different from good PD, despite different format and intent.
Apparently. We've got great ideas!
A4: Absolutely!! I walk away with nuggets of wisdom every time I participate!
A4 Yep! I am connecting with others who have diff ideas/opinions than mine. We are striving for reflection https://t.co/EDCj4NyW3C
A4 Personally this is PD - I would not tell that to some Admins - they would laugh
A4). I do but not recognized in HE
A4 Yes, sometimes it's the best PD (other than mine, of course, j/k)... New ideas, POVs, and tech - I learn so much!
Q4 absolutely, building a network of smart educators
Someone is looking into this…wink, wink…hint, hint… https://t.co/YXGGdoxblD
A3: Buy in from professional colleagues & researchers about the value of has been a challenge
A4: Absolutey! I'm learning, expanding my thinking, always pushed 2 think outside the box, & up 2 date on leg. issues 2!
A4 -- for me it's collaboration and interaction. And maybe that's what PD SHOULD be.
it's an app u can download that allows u to see multiple tweets at one
A4: Yes! Learning from the best right here. Sharing ideas with those in the trenches should be the only kind of PD
A4 yes, when conversation, sharing of ideas and learning takes place I vote it is PD
I just came here to say ya'll oughta be ashamed for being so uncivil!
A4) Of course. I learn professional stuff. I share professional stuff. Thus PD. Of course, I consider traveling PD too. :D
Unless you're a T; we offer continuing & grad credit for https://t.co/RXQTBP9sen
A4). I do but not recognized in HE
yes I do learn a lot and amazed at all the amazing things our S's and T's are doing.
A4, I view all my time on Twitter as PD. I couldn't keep up with the latest without it.
A4: Sure beats bloodborn pathogens videos...
A4: I do think the chat is usually good PD
4) Not so much PD but valuable networking, sharing of ideas, and a Professional Learning Network (PLN) that helps me.
A4) of course and I try not to miss even during super bowl
Call it learning. We do it by meeting new people & reading new things. Someone who doesn't read is no better off than one who can't.
I wonder why that is? & ! https://t.co/0GMp9sBTMK
A3 No real problems participating although I find it difficult to convince colleagues to give it a try
Eric Justin Bates, band director and a lot of other titles at Oklahoma Union schools. Excuse my tardiness, I'll run the laps later.
Q4: More social and more validation of like-minded people than PD, I think.
A4 One could even call this PD cross-curricular & vertically aligned!
A4: Yes, but most of my activities are. But when I hear PD, I view it like a child views birthdays or Christmas!
Hate that this is true more often than not. https://t.co/lPQeKrR2sv
A4 Personally this is PD - I would not tell that to some Admins - they would laugh
A4 anything I do that helps me learn to be a better admin is PD. definitely does that!
I've had other Ts say they don't want to give up Sunday nights.
A4 chat...best, most meaningful PD around!!
A4 No question some nights more than others
But have you used something you fount on twitter in your class??
Learning, trying out new ideas, practicing reflective responding. Yup...that's learning.
a4: not sure it counts as PD if you can participate while drinking beer and watching football... =)
A4: No. I am in IT within the oil and gas industry. Pub Ed Advocacy is just a hobby.
I gain information to share with teachers.
can be PD. What better way to learn than from educators in the field.
can be PD. What better way to learn than from educators in the field.
TO me PD is always fining one thing that can make you better
A4- yes, PD as in Parent Development😀
A4) where else can a second year teacher pick the brains of top educators and legislators in the state?
A4 you couldn't directly connect this to an increase in testing performance of my students but they are better for it.
A4: Chats are PD because we are learning new ideas, collaborating, & sharing. It's Edcamp style using tweets.
A4: it gives me hope in education and great pride in what we accomplished in removing certain people from office, need to keep going
If you mean, say... 'mercy', then yes. Mindset, yes. The mechanics of this or that lesson, not that I recall.
A4: , Yes! Participating in this chat will allow me to express myself on a specific topic as well as learn from others as they share.
A4. Yeah I can see my participation in as PD. I'm learning in an unconventional setting!
Judges ruling? We'll allow it. https://t.co/755XEoDZc6
a4: not sure it counts as PD if you can participate while drinking beer and watching football... =)
I think the speed and format can be tough for new Twitter users...at least that's what tells me!
gives me good Science ideas that I have used so Twitter has really benefited my Ss as well as me.
What we're doing -- networking for pro. purposes -- is in itself great modeling for our Ss
A4)it's drive by PD or hit and run PD but it's a great way to see what's going on next door or across the country
A4: yes, makes me reflect
A4 yes! Wish others at school would participate.
And vice versa! I love hearing from Ts, Ps, As, and everyone else. Great forums!
Sometimes, I way to tired and fall asleep in the middle of . I tend to be busy during .
Q4 definitely Professional Development of strong relationships and that is the best PD we can have. Relationships Unite Us!
A4 I see it more as a way to connect and share ideas than standard PD. It's better.
Q5 coming up in 1 minute…
I've always preferred informal learning over formal learning myself...Twitter is perfect for me!
Ouch. A pox on both our houses, then? https://t.co/mbiCPHqdEd
Sometimes, I way to tired and fall asleep in the middle of . I tend to be busy during .
I feel like I would be doing my Ss a real disservice if I didn't try to improve as a teacher. What am I perfect?! Not even close.
& worked with on continuing credit & submitted approval to for grad credit
A4) This is totally PD - every week I gain something that makes me a better teacher!
Sure it does. You are studying physics and chemistry while conversing with your colleagues. ;)
A1 First heard about when I joined Twitter and was looking for people to follow
Have always preferred personalized learning...also perfect with Twitter. https://t.co/LN4IQQ5UF1
I've always preferred informal learning over formal learning myself...Twitter is perfect for me!
A4) I believe it is PD. I think the term PD can scare t's off so if I am sharing with a T I call it a chat!
yes often better than traditional pd although has the greatest pd of any district I've taught in
A4 I agree it is an avenue to exchange views, but it not what I'd call PD.
A5: My school doesn't, but the state department does. :)
A4- great PD for myself as a teacher, but also think my admins would really benefit if they would join in. No luck there yet.
A4 PD is ever more available to anyone interested in getting it.
A4. Moving away from the norm of doing things is the best PD format.
PD can be viewed differently now right?? Its not the 1920’s anymore..is it???
A5 Honestly don't know but I've never had trouble accruing PD hours so never asked
It's your passion and you are amazing at it! You keep us fueled and fired up!
A5: I think it should be recognized when you spend every Sunday night participating. It's not though. It's not even cared about.
A5: Ha! No, it would never have occurred to me to even ask.
A5: No, but it's worth a conversation
A5) No, but I haven't asked. I already have more PD than I need. I do count it as part of TLE though.
because you are a super PD nerd :-)
A5: I never thought to ask... I already have more than enough, so I'm not sure they'd want to take the time to figure it
Q5) Never thought of it. I believe a moderator should define to receive credit
A5 They shouldn't have to give enticements. My PD is on me.
A5. No and no. This is just good on-your-own-time learning. :)
A5: I never thought to ask....Sorry.
A4: it's great PD.....because donuts🍩.
A5 I've never asked...wow.
Define the specific topic/outcome for the chat?
No shame in my PD game :)
A5) No my school does not; I do not think they should anymore than when I read a professional book or attend our PLCs.
is moving toward for Ss, hope we can use SM more effectively w/ Ss too! https://t.co/pM4iaCpxoE
Have always preferred personalized learning...also perfect with Twitter. https://t.co/LN4IQQ5UF1
I've always preferred informal learning over formal learning myself...Twitter is perfect for me!
A5: They do not give me points for PD, but I feel more would participate if they did!
A5 --has anyone asked? I think the case could be made...and your work on Sunday nite should be recognized by your PD committee. ASK
A5 Not that I know of, but I've never asked.
but if you take your time to do it and you take something back to your classroom…
A5: No, we are a very rural school and my Sup doesn't even have a Twitter to my knowledge. I doubt it would get approved.
A5. Working on annual report 2nite .no space to put it but I do list when I lead . Only way to change it, is to report it.
A5 no credit given...would be great if they did...I'm more engaged in a Twitter chat than listening to a speaker.
A5: I just wish more Ts from my school participated. I love going to PDs credit or not
- no, but maybe my son could get some extra credit for it. 😎
My guess if the the vast majority of those active in our chats are not short of PD points
I'd argue reading a prof. book is some of the best pd our there... especially with colleagues.
I feel like one of my Ss only doing 1/2 their work. Sorry I keep forgetting.
A5: It seems that UW does if I understood 's tweet.
Maybe we could even have a Moore SOKC Sunday meetup!
A5: Thanks to i'm learning about something new and gaining class credit at the same time :)
A5 I kind of like the fact that they don't. This is our own kinda-underground time to learn/vent/network.
A5: It should count if one idea is learned & used in the classroom or shared with someone else who does not participate.
A5 - my employer does not give me credit for this but does!
Is Twitter chat any different than reading a professional book? & ! https://t.co/snNCL3yunn
A5) No my school does not; I do not think they should anymore than when I read a professional book or attend our PLCs.
A5. I will be gaining credit from for participating tonight. I enjoy reading all the comment thus far!
A2 Met my partner on - The rest is history ! 📚🎉👏
A5 No credit as of yet. But there's talk in our PD dept of creating a Twitter chat!
Participating in 15 sessions each year can be counted towards 1 grad credit. Must verify with staff member.
Agreed...shh https://t.co/QRAxRc5odQ
A5 I kind of like the fact that they don't. This is our own kinda-underground time to learn/vent/network.
I've been to some fairly heinous mandated PD which is I want the PD I choose to be counted.
Perhaps we should do one that is a big book club meeting!
there in is the problem. Find time, it is fun if u live teaching like we do
! Its all about who give the cred https://t.co/xm16feqUJM
A5 - my employer does not give me credit for this but does!
Q5: I don’t think I would ask only bc I think the amount of hours required is ridiculous. We should want to develop!
I agree. I was talking of the ones I find that haven't been shared yet. https://t.co/UpFfdLqFqX
I'd argue reading a prof. book is some of the best pd our there... especially with colleagues.
A5. I will be gaining credit from for participating in . I enjoy reading all the comments thus far!
Never thought to ask. But does it matter? PD hours don't count for anything anymore.
Why not give teachers credit for participating in chats. Maybe not for every chat. You still need scheduled PD.
Bothers me that we call Ts professionals, then nag them about getting their appr PD credits. If you build good PD, they will come!
A5: As replied in A4, definitely should be!!!
The expectation for professionals should be continued growth and learning! https://t.co/I8xcNgUmsU
Q5: I don’t think I would ask only bc I think the amount of hours required is ridiculous. We should want to develop!
do you “develop” when you participate in a chat?
Great point! https://t.co/3tqPhsjlJH
A5 I kind of like the fact that they don't. This is our own kinda-underground time to learn/vent/network.
Q6 coming up in 1 minute…
Good point. If it became credit-able, there'd be rules and rubrics and checklists and kill me now. https://t.co/a1uQDjZzQo
A5 I kind of like the fact that they don't. This is our own kinda-underground time to learn/vent/network.
I don't believe PD has to suck...Even traditional, mandated PD doesn't have to suck!
True... it might cheapen our experience to have ppl here only because they need hours!
not that different. I look at Facebook and drinks lots of coffee during boring pd
And if you expect Ts to discover their own passions for learning and growth, they build their own PD. https://t.co/bxwOKVsRne
Bothers me that we call Ts professionals, then nag them about getting their appr PD credits. If you build good PD, they will come!
A5: Of course we should all receive PD credits :)
Each student has variable (use of paper goods) & fixed (heat, teacher, bus route) costs. ESAs falsely count all costs as variable.
A5 I think it sounds like a good idea.
depends on the topic or the tweets, but there are times when the chat is able to spark more research.
My administration joins us in chat. gets caught up later. https://t.co/69UhRZIPct
A5 --has anyone asked? I think the case could be made...and your work on Sunday nite should be recognized by your PD committee. ASK
A6: If I'm trying to model strategies, incorporate specific lesson ideas or techniques, I need face-to-face. For relationships, gold
is rural but they rock at like its their job...oh, wait...
Are you talking Pd360? That's a joke folks!
Twitter PD and edcamp PD have made traditional boring at times
A6 depends on the PD. Most of my AP PD is pretty good; the rest is a mixed bag.
A6: I always find at least 1 takeaway, but some neg coworkers can take the fun out of trad PD. Ppl here want to be here.
A6: is the most convenient and often meaningful for me
A5: I wish would give PD hours. I would love to have our T's participate!
A6-I follow YAL authors on Twitter & could bring my learning back to my students. Did that at conferences, too
A5: Does anyone really think someone can be a master teacher with 15 hrs of PD/year? Most spend 100's of hrs striving to get better.
A6 The things I have found on T are things I am interested in.
A5. Of course they should give credit. This platform will give us a chance to discuss what we learned with our peers.
A6: My traditional PD gets me face to face value. That is one thing I don't like about Twitter, lack of face time.
Q6: Traditional PD on very specific topic I choose and very indepth. Also has long to do list at end.
A6: Both depend a lot on the participant's mindset. What do you do w/ the info? If using it to grow, it's all good.
A6 chat provides more personalized learning. Personalization make a big impact on engagement. https://t.co/POCOjouY7a
a6: Traditional Pd - more focused and implementing specific practices - whereas Twitter involves more opinion
Social media PD is more timely, targeted, self-directed. Mandatory PD is a blanket.
A6 Traditional PD makes me feel like a 6th grader hyped up on sugar right after lunch.
Q6 Best thing about Twitter PD is that it is totally Self Customized!!
A6 I like both traditional PD and Twitter. Each has a place in my opinion. Of course I work in the PD department...
A6: I can go to Twitter and find PD anytime of the day or night, it's not scheduled, it is global
What hinders Ts from joining in?? https://t.co/FEfnZF24T8
A5: I wish would give PD hours. I would love to have our T's participate!
A6: PD on Twitter is personalized thru the I follow. Trad PD-mostly useless waste of time bc not something I NEED.
And sometimes a stifling blanket at that.
A6 Once you , , you can't go back...
A6 Once you , , you can't go back...
A6 Traditional PD bores me and I check out - many are forced to participate and unmotivated-
A6. Traditional PDs can be long and boring and sometimes don't pertain to everyone at the same time!
A6) Tr.PD is usually one speaker, one strategy, limited use; PD from Twitter is continuous and interactive/collaborative
A6: I get to choose if I want to participate, discussions are subjects I care about and if not I come back next week
A6 totally dependent upon topic, presenter, format, etc. But by in large, just as valuable
A6: Traditional PD is focused on one solution or idea to use. Twitter PD lets Ts collaborate & come up with solutions.
I think we have a pretty wide range of what we're thinking of as 'PD'. That's not bad, but it does make the prompt a bit... vague.
A6: If PD is interactive, it is enjoyed more by all.
A6: Twitter PD allows for perspective from a wider swath of people in real time. But I like both trad. and Twitter PD
A6: Big difference on Twitter is that everyone has a voice. It has helped me refine my views and strengthen my arguments.
A5 no credit. Don't care. Better than things I have received points for attending
A6 Twitter allows 4 conversation, sharing of ideas where it's okay to disagree...traditional PD is flat and one sided.
A6: Not subject to PD - but from what I hear from others, Twitter far better. It continues!!!! https://t.co/z6aiJ65V9K
Isn’t this what makes for great growth as a T? Things we are interested in? https://t.co/4PyiGuGJrO
A6 The things I have found on T are things I am interested in.
A6: Like, I'd never try to share my favorite reading strategies via Twitter chat. We need to sit at a table together for that.
A6: It isn't very good and most the time as a non core teacher, isn't relevant. That's why I go to ones that are.
A6: our schools trad'l PD is usually not for me. I like the discussions on here.
A6) Traditional PD led me to -each has their own strengths and weaknesses. I retain more contacts on Twitter
A6) Traditional PD led me to -each has their own strengths and weaknesses. I retain more contacts on Twitter
I just don't think it's nearly enough, but I guess it's a start
A6: Twitter can be done in my pjs, but our principal tries to tailor our traditional PD to make it as applicable as possible
I tend perfect my trivia crack skills...
A6 Some traditional PD has been great 4 me, but much of it is so rigid & top-down, non-interactive. Edcamps & Twitter=gr8
A6: But in f2f PD, I won't get sidetracked by politics or frustrations - the mojo has to be the mojo or it won't work, for example.
Yes, but the hours required is ridiculously low. If you have to add Twitter to get your hours, something is wrong!
A5: cld be an idea but really, & again it's about making me better. I want to do that & most teachers do 2 https://t.co/UlthAHA7X8
A6 You don't usually get a voice during trad PD. Don't get admonished for side conversations or pursuing interests.
A6. I can definitely formulate my thoughts better in writing, so Twitter is helpful on that front.
Twitter has educated me on the political issues facing education. Not something I normally focus on but glad to know!
I agree. I want to vote with my feet. https://t.co/NbQKZj1JPJ
Twitter PD and edcamp PD have made traditional boring at times
A6:My TwitterPD takes me away from the monotony of the trad.PD.We're in the tec era, why not use it to bring us together
A6b: I learn something new EVERY time I check my Twitter acct. And it only takes a few minutes. How awesome is that?
A6: Downside: you don't know what you don't know, so sometimes having an expert come in on site is preferable
A3 Sunday nites often have schedule conflicts.
A6: I think this audience may be a little biased - as they have sought out twitter for PD - therefore find value in it
A6: I wonder how answers to this vary among Ts of ES/MS/HS grade responsibilities, admins, higher ed, 0-5 yrs Ts, 5+ yrs Ts . . .
A6 Cont - I view Twitter chats as higher on Bloom's compared to traditional PD. I evaluate and produce not just retain
MT People here want to be here https://t.co/MmXOgNWKRW
A6: I always find at least 1 takeaway, but some neg coworkers can take the fun out of trad PD. Ppl here want to be here.
Q7 coming up in 1 minute…
a6 I get to take ownership of it
A6 Traditional PDs can put you to sleep. PD on Twitter keeps me alert and engaged. No snoozing on my end!
A6 I chose to participate in this. Usually SD is irrelevant to kindergarten.
What about that bring in the expert? Like has done! https://t.co/JvQ5ArZhQy
A6: Downside: you don't know what you don't know, so sometimes having an expert come in on site is preferable
I agree. Every type of PD has value - some is just easier to define than others.
Agreed. We are life-long learners who have self-selected optional learning opportunities...Not everybody does that!
A6: Also, science PD needs the hands-on component to be truly transformational
Face to face collaboration can be very effective...key word collaboration https://t.co/KKdmjD1K3z
A6: Like, I'd never try to share my favorite reading strategies via Twitter chat. We need to sit at a table together for that.
Will the summary be able to include tweets with only one hash tags? Suspect might be missing some Wyoming tweets. :-(
A6: No offense, but you ppl have been attending the wrong PD. You will NOT fall asleep during my sessions. We need to talk.
A6 technically I can't wear pj's to the traditional pd; twitter pd I have more choice (leave when I want; jump in when I can)
A6: I don’t remember. Its been so long since Ive had to sit through the crap some people like to feed you for “PD”days!
Boy, that SHOULD be the expectation, huh? Hold ourselves accountable for our own learning.
??? https://t.co/UkqTfX11Mk
Will the summary be able to include tweets with only one hash tags? Suspect might be missing some Wyoming tweets. :-(
Agreed 100% https://t.co/iMOm3E2hiG
I think it's about purpose. I grab things from Twitter all the time to share with my Ts both face2face and via e-bulletin.
A7: Because it is so much fun!!!!
A7: I like knowing what's happening around the state, getting info for , & connecting with our Ts
A7 just to hear say Boom and Awesomesauce
Lol, I absolutely believe that! I imagine your sessions are epic...
personal growth, networking
Exactly. Former elective T here, way too much being bored when I could be useful.
A6 I participate in to get my pedagogical/ED-networking fix
A6 I participate in to get my pedagogical/ED-networking fix
was always great about getting relevant and passionate speakers for PD days!
Q7: To participate in conversation with like-minded educators
A7 broadens my horizons, challenges me to be involved in the state of education outside my classroom and school
A7 I'm always trying to find the next good idea. Sometimes, I just need a safe place to vent or take a stand.
Kudos to your admin! https://t.co/ll8oTKPhlu
A6: Twitter can be done in my pjs, but our principal tries to tailor our traditional PD to make it as applicable as possible
A7) I tune in to see what and will post next!
A6 I like finding people who think like me.......out of the box.
I would go to any of your PDs!!!
Good question.. what does hinder T's from joining in? Bc I try to get others to join in! Thankfully,my TM does.
A7: I'm here most weeks bc I enjoy leaning from fellow friends & discussing topics that r relevant in our state.
A7: I'm here most weeks bc I enjoy leaning from fellow friends & discussing topics that r relevant in our state.
A7: It's selfishly fun and 9x of 10 I feel SO much better after communicating w/ peeps throughout the week.
A7: feels like a group of friends. I participate to collaborate and learn from others.
Pretty common in OK too, I think
A7: I use Twitter like I use Church. Its my fellowship among like minded adults that share my passion! We are better in #’s
A7 it's a morale booster before a tough week!
A6 To stay relevant - to coach others in possibilities - develop relationships - pass my class lol
A7: Because I seek to refine my thinking and writing through the resulting Effective Learning!!! https://t.co/DDAox3N1tN
A7 -- since I'm retired and don't have a classroom, chats keep me in touch with what's happening in schools. Networking w best in
because it's fun and I learn a great deal from others
A7-I participate in chats bc I want to be the best teacher possible and that happens by learning from others and trying new things!
A7 Community. If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room. This is the perfect room https://t.co/vpEKgiu1vf
A7: I like to get validation on my ideas/opinions. and am on the look out for brilliant things; Seldom am I disapointed
A7: Awesome way to connect, share, learn, & grow
A7) I love the convo - the challenging thinking - the ideas..Oh My Lord - the ideas!
A7: Several very valuable relationships which may actually be strengthened by not having to deal w/ one another IRL every day.
A7- because parents have to stand w T's and Admins to advocate for public school. -8
A7: Collaborating sharing ideas, learning ideas, voicing opinions, connecting with other educators, and reading blogs.
A7) I participate in b/c it connects me to educators who share a common interest with me and collaborate on Ed issues.
Agree. Politics are my weakness. I do better because forces the issue & often gives suggestions for action
A7: I require my graduate & undergraduate students to participate in *ANY* 2 in a semester
A7: Gain perspectives from others in the field and credit for coursework. Basically what just tweeted
1 of the things I love about is the broad range of participants..experienced, new, students, patrons https://t.co/c7E2i4I3DW
A6: I wonder how answers to this vary among Ts of ES/MS/HS grade responsibilities, admins, higher ed, 0-5 yrs Ts, 5+ yrs Ts . . .

A7 it like filling my tank with awesomeness to start every week.
A4 Twitter has become the greatest source of PD for me.
If everyone used & , we may not have a problem...
A7: Like eating this. You always know it's gonna be good, yet are still surprised by the sweetness inside. https://t.co/igUWyVjVPx
A7: Great peeps, new ideas, kids come first
A7 keeps me in the current and off the bank. I don't like to observe the process I want to participate.
my thinking was how did the story make national news at 40 K when our teachers are making 32
I learn so much from . I feel empowered to make a difference and become a stronger advocate with my army! https://t.co/G5jKwSeNs2
So important to us Grandparents... https://t.co/ycLQhuwHX0

A7 it gives me hope in education and great pride in what we accomplished in removing certain people from office, need to keep going
love to hear what other districts are doing.
A7 opportunity to discuss ed issues and hear from other colleagues. So many dedicated and passionate educators...
A7 I don't have time to discuss this at school. I'm always teaching!
Q8 coming up in 1 minute…
A7: To be current with like-minded educators so I can be informed when my fellow Ts may have Qs that our As don't know.
A7 a great way to connect, learn, and stay informed on educational issues
A7 chats help me to refocus and get ready for the week!
When and where can I come attend your PD?
A7: Participating in because it's required for class (hides face), but I doubt this will be my last one! I want to learn and grow.
A7) I participate in 2 network w/ other t's, share ideas, and find new & innovative ideas that I could use to improve.
A7) I send my pre-service teachers to to begin their PLN early. Also, to get a feel for the climate they are entering.
Great point - I didn't read that far - just remembered my days as a P12 T
A7 Any place where teachers can share ideas is a great place to go.
I remember those digital storytelling workshops well!
!'m learning about flipped PDs in class this semester. Joining this chat for class requirements :)
Love that you do this! Coming into a 1st year of teaching with a strong support network is essential!
Support, collaboration, community... gets my week off to a great start!!
A7 I want to hear from people around our state. I feel like I'm part of a larger team.
A8: I'd love to know if our & folks think universities & academics should pay more attention to
Huge Question Right Here! https://t.co/xFQzEunZqK
A8: I'd love to know if our & folks think universities & academics should pay more attention to
A8: We covered all the bases and had some fun too!
A8: I'd kind of like to see more argument/challenged thinking. We often all totally agree! What would you like to see?
A7 Participation really helps those in Teacher Ed to keep aware of current PK12 realities
A8 (Q): suggestions for a building wide book study?
A7) it validates my feelings of frustration by commiserating with like minded educators trying in spite of OK politicians
. I know I've received tweets with only and suspect are others with only unfortunately...
A8 Requests for specific topics to cover in future chats?
Hmm...I'll see what I can do...
most of the university in Oklahoma have had a representing join
A8: I don't know many other professionals who are networking and learning during the Super Bowl
I think I still have some of that equipment.
Fantastic idea! Love! I have some book titles. https://t.co/W76uJGIG7j
A8 (Q): suggestions for a building wide book study?
Little known fact is the only public 4-year institution in https://t.co/lYFAnD29E1
most of the university in Oklahoma have had a representing join
is all about relationships. To see that you're not alone. There are so many dedicated Ts out there. I'm so grateful! Thank you!
Premier conference for all middle level educators! Come see many of our friends present their magic! https://t.co/UfUQMgdh63
A8. Props that this chat went on in a state where football is king! 😂😜 just kidding. Have a cheerful week, everyone!
Q8: There are an incredible number of national chats for every subject and job title. Check them out here: https://t.co/7ngTRTs6t8
Me too! & https://t.co/HlZzWZUH7G
A8: I'd love to know if our & folks think universities & academics should pay more attention to
I genuinely love my peeps. I look forward to chatting and getting charged for the week's challenges. https://t.co/qTNAblFInA
...and it's a safe place to share!
TLAP, Passion Driven Classroom, anything Todd Whitaker
I am a super obsessed anything education related teacher who wants to talk education whenever possible
A8) The chats connects me to Ss, parents, Ts, Admin at all lvs, legislators, and concerned people in an equal setting.
a8: I've struggled getting colleagues involved in using twitter for pd. Suggestions???
we're reading 's What great Ts do differently. My staff has a few newbies - a good starter read.
Safety is important! Helps keep us honest.
This was fun! Thanks for a great hour!
Like anything, they need to find value. Perhaps sharing specific resources from an chat?
we are reading teach like a champion. It's not bad.
Thanks all for a gr8 evening.
What great ideas from Wyoming for educators?
this could be interesting…
Thanks for the combined edchat tonight. I think we missed a lot of ppl since they are watching the game.
I've thought about having a meet up at a coffee shop to help out twitter newbies with chats!
Wait, who won - or ? I wasn't clear on the rules...
I can't think of anything original that we didn't cover... Good chat tonight!
A8: This is a great resource and it's sad that more Ts and As don't take advantage. I try to encourage my colleagues to join.
I know that was going - thank you so much for participating tonight!
A8- enjoy hearing all the great things that our amazing T's and schools are doing. Passionate leadership!!!
Thanks for hosting I like how you said "Q5 coming up in 1 min" etc, helped me keep up. Over and out
completely off topic but are there any repercussions for people who let their dogs bark ALL evening????
completely off topic but are there any repercussions for people who let their dogs bark ALL evening????
-- Any plans to share the research from tonight's chat? Hope we helped you gather data.
A8 Wish more Ts would connect and engage in
can be fun! My ugrads led a w/impromptu last semester https://t.co/ySNsaPoGHR
I've thought about having a meet up at a coffee shop to help out twitter newbies with chats!
a7) i participate in this chat and advocate for pub ed bc I am my children's only voice and I intend to use it as loudly as I can.
I think they should! Not only helps keep pulse on what's going on, Ts in PLNs discuss issues at the forefront
