Welcome everyone!! and I will be your moderators tonight!
-
A1: What I'd like to know from our moderators is what THEY'D like to see in classrooms to solicit voice.
-
A1: Our 2nd grade teachers didn't administer the official survey, but they created their own to have the feedback.
-
A great way to increase in the classroom and school is to start with a plus/delta...what is working, what can be improved
-
and Google Apps help students to share their voices in elementary schools.
-
That's great!! definitely surveys is the way to go in my book.
-
A1: Would you all consider 2 stars and a wish or ticket out the door that's non-academic to be voice?
-
Pls join us now talking on https://t.co/QoKYiBJmqk

-

We're chatting student voice. Hope you can join us!

Using a rating scale for new instructional stategies is a great tool for increasing student voice.
-
A1: Wouldn't it be cool if kids could give you feedback on the daily lesson. What went well. What didn't.
-
Love this!! https://t.co/cTgOT3lQD5

Even a simple exit slip on exams - did you feel prepared? Were the activities in this unit connected? Were the notes helpful?
-
I agree. We all want to get better, right? https://t.co/6x5VWWQJJD
-
-
I think that teachers should take periodic surveys to make sure that their methods are the most effective for the students
-
A1Depends on what is asked of Ss, the interpretation, and Ts reflection. Does it make a difference? https://t.co/IOavRCMDuw

A1: Would you all consider 2 stars and a wish or ticket out the door that's non-academic to be voice?

-
Best quote I've heard is from . Make your classroom so incredible, kids will buy tix to get in.
-
Whoops...that quote was by !!
-
The next question of this chat is:What action(s) is your school taking to understand the implications of student voice survey data?
-
A1: I encourage SV to be an ongoing all year process and not just a one shot deal with a yearly survey SV and S choice go together
-
"Does it make a difference?" <----- That's key to me. https://t.co/rGpj2wmGXV

It is tough 4 me 2 get Ss feedback about my teaching because I know what they do not like, but I feel it is important for class.
-
A2: Weeeeelllll...I made the unpopular decision of sharing results and highlighting T's who did well last week.
-
Our Ts have just received the results of the Student Voice Survey...next step - reflection and share out of action ideas
-
Question 2 here-- join us on talking until 7:30 PM ET https://t.co/pwpmGUvofL
-
-
The next question of this chat is:What action(s) is your school taking to understand the implications of student voice survey data?
-
A2: Do I think it's important to highlight what's great so we can grow? Yes. Best timing...perhaps not. I'm growing too!!
-
RIGHT NOW (not yelling) High school student moderated chat with administrators. check out -
-
A2: A positive is that T's shared some really cool ideas and thoughts. I hope it's well received.
-
A1.) most of my teachers over the years had either only tried to get students to respond or at least attempted to create discussion
-
Q2 -- https://t.co/5lXbUJcnix

-
The next question of this chat is:What action(s) is your school taking to understand the implications of student voice survey data?
-
A2: The one thing missing from our survey results is comparison to district and state.
-
A2: Might help with perspective of the scores.
-
A2: We currently discuss at end of year teacher conferences
-
A2 - good question, as a regular ed teacher, I really have no idea. I need to findout.
-
A2: We will look at them and discuss the pro/cons. Timing is the key though-making sure we are ready to review and reflect.
-
A2 survey has sparked more survey of Ss via google forms throughout the year! I learn and grow with each iteration
-
Several of our teachers are talking about implementing this practice next year. https://t.co/rvMgVWetga

A2.) i guess i'm not entirely informed on this subject matter, but i assume that my school TRIES to listen to their students
-
Hi -- Ashley is one of my star students. She is a great thinker. https://t.co/A5QNmi5ZjB

A1.) most of my teachers over the years had either only tried to get students to respond or at least attempted to create discussion
-
A2 I've met privately with individual Ts. Discussed implications &Ss POV . Would like comparison of District and state.
-
Ts to use Stu Voice as a personal reflection tool...it is important to me that Ts discuss w/ me their highlights and areas for impr
-
What would make it 2-way communication? What would make it better for you as the student? https://t.co/CjNJbnDJEK

A2: The beauty of elementary school students is that they tend to share their authentic voices candidly, even when not anonymous.
-
Excellent point. They'll tell you exactly what they are thinking. Sweet and sour. https://t.co/UI7t8kYWYE

-
A2: The beauty of elementary school students is that they tend to share their authentic voices candidly, even when not anonymous.
-
That is an exceptionally important key...all Ss should feel confident and safe to advocate for their needs each day.
-
A3: Our T's definitely reflect on the data. I heard most of them comparing their scores year to year.
-
I split up the Qs on the survey+ add my own as well. About 3-4 Qs per form/we discuss the results 2gether
-
A3: And most really took it very personally. They really wanted to work on weakest areas.
-
Absolutely!! https://t.co/jAM3hXWP6C
-
-
That is an exceptionally important key...all Ss should feel confident and safe to advocate for their needs each day.
-
A3: The balance is making them APPRECIATE all of their strengths. We're so hard on ourselves.
-
Love that! Future leaders! https://t.co/2RDGcbsior

-
A3: More student choice boards, improved stations, more engaging activities, more risk taking, etc.
-
I have a question... How are we defining "student voice" - I imagine it is more than kool-aid in the water fountain, right?
-
Question 3 on https://t.co/X4kmJtqBDI
-
-
Q3:What changes have been made in classrooms with the implementation of collecting student voice data?
-
Student voice through our leadership teams has changed so many processes of our building. We really listen to their perspective.
-
We changed our assemblies, we added extracurriculars, we added books and supplies, we changed lunch schedule.
-
HA! Absolutely which is why it is more than a once a year survey-should be ongoing input on class and schoolwide
-
Check out tonight, moderated by students.
-
A3 survey has resulted in increased understanding between Ss + me / greater empathy for the challenges of the classroom
-
Added social skills groups, are revising the back play area. Kids really have a lot of say in our bldg.
-
Thanks to all the students for moderating and contributing tonight!! Must run - Have a terrific Tuesday!
-
can you share 1 or 2 examples? I'm very curious.
-
Definitely made your class more rewarding!!
-
-
We have a principal's leadership team that the AP and I really listen to. If they want to try it, we do.
-
They design all of our assemblies (they said mine were boring), they determine rewards, they design fundraisers.
-
A3. When Ts select their most difficult class in order to get feedback, change will occur.
-
The last question of this discussion is: What would your students say you need to change in your school?
-
-
Not that we don't listen to every kiddo. That didn't come out well.
-
Last Q for tonights chat on https://t.co/Rqh9fBegne
-
-
The last question of this discussion is: What would your students say you need to change in your school?

-
ha, very cool. no feelings hurt right?
-
A4: Well right now they are writing persuasive letters to me regarding our courtyard-so that is one!
-
A4: They would say that we don't have enough PE equipment, they want a soccer team, they want more hands on science.
-
A4: They want more enrichment time, a baseball team, and on and on. We have lunch and they let it rip.
-
Ooooo...what do they want to do? https://t.co/wFt32V1au7

-
A4: Well right now they are writing persuasive letters to me regarding our courtyard-so that is one!
