Our chat will focus on the idea that we can lead and make positive change from any position in our school systems. Leadership is not about a title, it is a way of thinking and acting.
Good morning, #LeadLAP crew! Thank you so much @nbartley6 for hosting today! Can't wait to talk Lead Beyond Your Titles! And...can't wait to join #EdCampMALeads soon in a GHO!
So glad "Lead Beyond Your Title" author @nbartley6 is hosting #LeadLAP today. I decided not to get my Master's in Leadership last year. Now, I almost have my Master's in Learning and Tech completed. I can lead from my classroom. #LeadLAP
Hey #LeadLAP - excited to learn with y’all this morning! I’ll be in and out due to conference b-ball tournament, but I get to hang with these former Ss (who are bent WAY down so they fit in the frame, HA!)
Alicia from NC
Shayna from MA, jumping from my cozy bed (bronchitis...yuck!) because I am so excited about this latest #LeadLAP book! My copy of #LeadBeyondYourTitle arrives on Monday
Good morning, #LeadLAP, Mark here, elementary principal in Hopkins, MN, Tweeting from somewhere in southern Minnesota on our way to Hartford, SD, to celebrate our goddaughter's 5th birthday. I'm the passenger!
A1: One of our most recent efforts is to get our upper grade students to lead the lessons on SEL rather than the teachers. We train the students on how to deliver the lesson and then let them take on a primary class!
#leadLAP
A1: Making sure they have relationships with me and they know I value what they say. If they have suggestions/concerns, take the time to listen. I also run a student council at the school. #LeadLAP
A1 Ss are in charge of their learning. They have a lot of choice and I use their pulse to shape our day. Building relationships beyond the school day encourages Ss to be motivated to give back #LeadLAP
A1: Provide opportunities for Ss to have a voice and lead; feedback, voice, choice, and leadership in classrooms; principal council, student ambassador team, focus groups, system for mentoring #LeadLAP
Ss just finished their Student Led Conferences (6th grade) where they made presentations to Ps & advisors about their growth (academically, socially, + dignity tenets) - amazing to see them rise to the challenge and LEAD their goal setting #LeadLAP
A1: Our building has high expectations for Ts and Ss. We all have to work hard to MODEL healthy relationships and appropriate interactions. We in turn, expect Ss to do the same. #LeadLAP
A1. Students in my classes have a lot of choice in what they create and the tools they use to do so. This leads to them sharing their expertise with me and each other. #LeadLAP
A1- I use NJHS students to give our school tours. They LOVE selling our school. I don't have many Q's to answer after the tour as they give such great info!!! #LeadLAP#Edcampmaleads
A1: We have lunchtime clubs - students run them. They come to teachers with ideas and ask them to help facilitate, but they lead. It's awesome to watch! #LeadLAP
A1 Teach kids to be observant of their surroundings. Recognize problems and creatively solve them. Make life better for others through service and innovative solutions. #kidscandoit#LeadLAP
A1: Our K Ss design their ideal patio for the front of the school and I really want to try to incorporate some of their ideas, even if just for a day, this year. Not sure I'll get to build a rollercoaster but might be able to set-up a basketball court! #leadlap
A1) This year jumping into a specialist role in middle school, getting Ss to lead beyond their title is a HUGE goal for me, so first and foremost I treat it as an urgent expectation:)-YOU will be leading this class (& beyond!), YOU will be teaching, YOU will inspire! #LeadLAP
A1 Ss are in charge of their learning. They have a lot of choice and I use their pulse to shape our day. Building relationships beyond the school day encourages Ss to be motivated to give back #LeadLAP
A1 Students are an integral part of what we do. They need to feel like they are a part of the overall community. We have a club that highlights the faces of @PACarlton. Such a great way to spread positivity and kindness. #LeadLAP
A1: I love when my Ss step up and take the lead! When they go above & beyond to help & support each other or fix a problem they come across, those are the moments they truly shine. We're a team & we look out for one another - putting that responsibility on them pays off #LeadLAP
A1: make sure they know school@culture is a thing. That matters.
And that they contibute.
Demonstrate that it’s ALL about relationships - and set up tons of structured activities that can be done together. Across the grades
#LeadLAP
A1 - We actively invite student voice throughout the day/year. They lead service projects that address their needs around the school and they are mentors to younger students. #leadlap
A1: I value them and they know it. I make absolutely certain they know that I believe in them. I give Ss opp to be leaders in various ways & hold them to high standards. #LeadLAP
My wish is for the words friendly and kind to be used when describing our culture. With our kids I try to be those things each day and have personal conversations on why those two things are so important. Especially in a middle school building. #LeadLAP
A1: @nnhstigers we believe that when you give students the independence and responsibility they step up to the challenge. Through that leadership we continue to build a strong, respectful, and inclusive community. #leadlap
A1–Show up! Greeting students and staff, listening & being genuine...just taking time for others on their turf whether it be hallways, the lunch room, community activities, etc. It’s a small investment with a BIG return. #family#connections#leadlap
A1: We have grade 6/7 leadership which involves All the students in those grades and a School Spirit committee that has students from K-7 working to make our school a better place #LeadLAP
A1 From the building, students give the morning announcements, students conduct/lead the a.m. & p.m. hallway safety patrols, they facilitate lunch clean up, & they have conversations with us admin about areas for growth #LeadLAP
My Algebra inquiry teams have assigned roles as in a small department & I help them develop 4C's that transfer outside the classroom = confidence & voice. #LeadLAP
A1: We need to think of ways to get student voice into our schools- student councils (linked to PBIS/SEL...taught a lesson to the leaders that they go back to the classrooms to teach to their classmates) has been AWESOME! #leadlap#fpsleadlap
A1: Our building has high expectations for Ts and Ss. We all have to work hard to MODEL healthy relationships and appropriate interactions. We in turn, expect Ss to do the same. #LeadLAP
We have social media interns - they take over our feed on Instagram and Facebook - so fun to see what they choose to take pictures of and a powerful way to practice positive digital citizenship #leadlap
This is so true! Letting students know that they can solve problems on our campus has such a lasting impact. Doesn't matter how big or small the problem...what they want to know is are you willing to support them in solving it!
#leadLAP
A1 Teach kids to be observant of their surroundings. Recognize problems and creatively solve them. Make life better for others through service and innovative solutions. #kidscandoit#LeadLAP
A1 - We empower of Learners to lead in the classroom whether they are proficient or want to be and have questions for clarification. #LeadLAP at #EdCampMALeads
A1: My wish is for the words friendly and kind to be used when describing our culture. With our kids I try to be those things each day and have personal conversations on why those two things are so important. Especially in a middle school building. #LeadLAP
A1: Part of allowing Ss to take the lead in the classroom requires Ts to be willing to work to earn Ss respect. We need to demonstrate WHY Ss should trust and follow us, not just lean on our title. #LeadLAP
A1: My students are AV Directors, Environment Designers, and Lesson-Plan Evaluators. Currently, they are working on designing a more productive work-environment. #LeadLAP
A1: Choir (any music group, really) is a culture within itself. We try to cultivate a team culture which, in turn, positively affects the total school culture. A healthy % of total school population is involved in music. #LeadLAP
A1: We have official badged leadership positions, however all Ss are encouraged to be role models and lead. They have a say in decision as much as possible & their ideas are heard. Starting a radio station & some other new projects this year. #leadlap
A1) We've got some amazing staff members who have started a Junior Naturalists Club for our #GatewoodGators. The students have identified some projects and are contributing to our school culture. #LeadLAP
A1 - the rough one is contributing to building or even district. Most kids don’t think beyond the classroom or grade - which is normal but an opportunity is missed. And didn’t reflect the real world
#LeadLAP
After 3 days of observing, discussions and planning, we have our first iteration of classroom design in effect. Thanks SD, HL and LN for your thoughtful problem solving. Spaces for all and an open seating plan were a priority. #rvsed#ibpyp#prairiewaters
A1: Creating opportunities for student feedback, vision, choice, and leadership is integral to our success as a school. If they are our WHY, we must also make them part of the WHAT and the HOW. #LeadLAP

#leadlap
A1 Our Student Senate (anyone can join) and National Junior Honor Society students are great leaders, but just this week three 6th graders came to me to start a social issues club. Give them a voice and listen to it! #LeadLAP
A1: My students all have jobs in our classroom - roles that fit the strengths unique to that student and help the class family. This empowers Ss, helps Ss feel needed/appreciated, and definitely helps me steer the ship with so many helpers assisting us along the way! #LeadLAP

Recycle the entire school.
Monitor compost program at lunch.
Compost each morning (dump food scraps in worm bin, sift soil/ castings).

Teaching is paradoxically one of the most empowering and humbling professions. Whether Ts feel purpose or isolation is based on self-perception. That's why chats like this rock. They remind us we aren't alone, but rather are part of the grand project of human potential. #LeadLAP
A2: I define my role by leading with my feet and not from my seat. I try to be out & about in all classrooms as much as possible. Some days are harder than others, but I do my best to make sure it happens as much as possible. #LeadLAP

A2: My role is to educate our future...in whatever capacity required in the moment. From academic lessons to life lessons, to social & emotional support, or helping someone in need. The more kids learn with us, the better prepared they are to lead us into the future. #LeadLAP
SO true! Love these quotes. Teamwork is such an important thing to making a great place for student learning! Everyone going towards the same goal. #LeadLAP

A3: Relationships - I don't think anyone on my staff has to guess at why I show up. It's for the kids & staff at my school. I care about them & would do anything for them. I show them by my actions - not just my words. #LeadLAP

A2: We opened our school two years ago and decided that our titles should better reflect how we defined them. So teachers are now “facilitators”, classrooms are “studios” and students are “learners.” I do truly see myself as a facilitator who guides learners rather than teacher.
A3: I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Of course, I show up because #KidsDeserveIt, but I also see teaching as an act of self-cultivation. It provides me with an outlet to share the things that I think truly matter—a context for my own journey of discovery. #LeadLAP

A3: I hope my educational community would say that I show up because I was “that” learner who, even in 1st grade, knew the system was not conducive to my learning needs and am now a teacher who wants to enhance the learning experience for ALL students and teachers. #LeadLAP
A3:They would say I show up because I *love*. I know that the ppl who have shown up 4 me have helped me to love myself, to lean in, to keep going & keep expanding. I take what makes me feel capable & I pay it forward to fuel a perpetual cycle of positivity & acceleration #LeadLAP
A3: how do I share? I start by actually sharing! And sharing the success of others and inviting others to share themselves.
I tend to share with lots of videos. But also lots of small conversations
#LeadLAP
A3: People. That’s my why. Specifically our students. I want all students to achieve at high levels. I believe that inequities exist, and I show up every day to help build accountability for learning for all students, and, of course, to love them unconditionally. #LeadLAP
A3: In my first year at Riverside, I am hopeful that the students, staff and community say I show up because I love them and will continue to push them to be better than they were the day before. Together we push forward and higher! #LeadLAP
A4 I listen first and then share when I'm asked, whether it's with students or colleagues or my PLN. But I also share quotes, blogs, and tweets with staff to provide gentle constant pressure to always try to be better today than you were yesterday. #LeadLAP
A4. I am Challenging the status quo so we can provide best for kids, removing barriers from classrooms, connecting w/ parents and giving time, resources and energy to our teachers so they can grow. #LeadLAP
A3 My WHY would be to help my students see school as AWESOME. The place to be ... to have fun, to learn, and be loved. I hope they see my title as that — the school’s ambassador of awesomeness. #LeadLAP#EdCampMALeads
A3: Someone told me recently that I see every child with rose colored glasses, not only what they are at that moment, but what they can be. That is one of the most wonderful compliments I’ve ever received.
Sometimes I like to view the whole world that way—visionary. #leadlap
#LeadLap A3 I hope that people who know me, have experienced me, will think of me as a 'Cultivator and Nurturer' ... I do this 24 x 7 in all the areas of my life. I try. Daily.
A4- by MODELING and sharing the power of being connected! Being supportive and available to help them and provide opportunities for them to lead #LeadLAP#Edcampmaleads#LeadBeyondYourTitle
#leadlap#leadlapmass A4 I am trying to lead quietly, tlaking, connecting, asking questions, making connections . Coming to awesome edcamps and spreading what I have learned
A3b I hope I show all the things I mentioned in my actions and I’m not shy about sharing my story and my why with people. I think that is so important #LeadLAP
A4: Through passion and enthusiasm to do better and be better. Sharing the many wonderful ideas I find through my PLN and saying "how can we implement this?" #LeadLAP
A4) When leadership is welcomed, passions & strengths fly around the building from all roles. I share who I am & what I can offer w/colleagues & admin by connecting every second possible (videos even work!) I'm also happily following their lead:) #LeadLAP#RelationshipsMatter
A4: I lead regardless of title by encouraging risk-taking. If it's good for Ss, do it! Making the custodian and secretary and lunch monitors feel as important as anyone else in the room. #LeadLAP
A2: Team player, collaborator, supporter, learner. My role is to support my team so that they can grow as educators in ways that meet their needs. If Ts are supported in their learning, Ss benefit. #leadLAP
A3. I honor and celebrate all. I created (not my original idea) the crystal apple award. We honor teachers, Paras, Custodian’s, and more every year! #LeadLAP
A2: We opened our school two years ago and decided that our titles should better reflect how we defined them. So teachers are now “facilitators”, classrooms are “studios” and students are “learners.” I do truly see myself as a facilitator who guides learners rather than teacher.
A4 Empowering Staff to believe in their ideas, dream big when providing relevant experiences for kids, connect to community and explore opportunities together. #LeadLAP
A3) I hope my colleagues (@ginakiyuna@HowardKiyuna@ldjrs_mrs 😉) would say I’m willing to take risks. That I’m at least willing to try something new in my classes or build relationships with kids beyond just my class periods. #LeadLAP
A4: Encouraging & listening to them. Helping them examine their educational beliefs. When I coteach as a coach, I start out the day leading & end the day observing. #LeadLAP
A4: After having a lot of Evaluation meetings with year 3 teachers, I encouraged all of them to continue to grow their voice and feel comfortable to share their own passion. #leadlap
A4: I think we have to have some collective efficacy and we get that by knowing the people on the team and in the building. What their strengths and how do we make each other better for Ss. #leadlap
A4: Regardless of what their title is I try to consistently act in alignment with our core beliefs and values. I try to model risk-taking while building a culture of yes as opposed to a culture of "No, it's never been done that way..." #leadlap
A1: model kindness and appreciation. It starts with a hello, good morning. Greet students at the door of building with a handshake and good morning! #LeadLAP
A3 I'm passionate about LEARNING! Everyone should be learning every day and hopefully people say that I'm contributing to a positive culture where we learn and grow together as a community. My favorite thing- share little PD bites that inspire and can be used tomorrow #LeadLAP
A3: presence in the school, love for students, care and commitment to the community, always trying to access any supports that are advantageous for Ss and staff, positive energy, love and dedication of being an educator/learner...#LeadLAP
A3: Passion & Opportunity. I hope I clearly communicate to everyone through both my actions & words that I have a passion for growing students academically, emotionally, & socially so they have the opportunity to pursue anything they want in the future. #leadlap
A3: Why I show up is always the learners on campus - all learners. Students, teachers, parents, myself.
Linking my pinned tweet. This is why I do what I do. https://t.co/3eFbkv1F7u#leadlap
A3: I would hope that my Ts and Ss would say I show up because I BELIEVE in my teachers’ and students’ ability to do amazing things in their classroom and beyond. #LeadLAP#EdCampMALeads
A4: Sharing how prof reading had made such an impact on me inspired our Leaders of Learning to est a prof library, which I was able to choose the books for 👏🏻 Also sharing the power of being a connected educator, & the impact it can have. Plus sharing my passions. #leadlap
A4: Our Grounds and Maintenance crew at @OakHarborPS are amazing. They are large reason BVE and HCE became @EDGreenRibbon schools. They support our composting, recycling, and gardening efforts. #LeadLAP
A4: Teachers, Parents & Students need to be owners of the school vision and mission, so they my role is to provide opportunities for them to analyze and think deeply about where we are on that journey. #leadlap
I’m planning on taking an idea from #LeadLAP and @BethHouf. I want to carve out time to write Why each Ts contributions are key to our school’s success and tape them to their doors for when they arrive for the day. #leadupchat
A3: sharing who you are (beyond the title)
It’s the little things. They really matter. Like giving out eggs from our 13 chickens. Like going to taco truck together. Making a video collaboratively. Etc etc
Because remember: it’s ALL about relationships
#LeadLAP
A4: I see it less as leading and more as consensus building. I want to see out other educators, admin, etc. who recognize areas where we can grow, work together to understand how, and implement means to improve together. #LeadLAP
Right on! We show up everyday because real-deal equity + true social justice needs folks committed to the continuous + diligent action needed to close gaps in achievement + opportunity. #LeadLAP
A3: Why I show up is always the learners on campus - all learners. Students, teachers, parents, myself.
Linking my pinned tweet. This is why I do what I do. https://t.co/3eFbkv1F7u#leadlap
a4 I have time to read a lot about ed, learning science: news, research, etc. I enjoy sharing quick-takes of what I learn with my Ss & colleagues when it fits our context. That's partly how we grew into inquiry-based learning in HS math. #LeadLAP
A4: Working to maintain positivity throughout the building no matter what's happening. Always working to push people beyond their comfort zone and support them in finding their success! (beyond their potential) #LeadLAP
A4: Part of being a leader is also being a learner. Make sure your team knows there is just as much you can and want to learn from them as they might be able to from you. Being a leader does not mean we are the only experts in the room. #LeadLAP
A4: I lead through kindness, authenticity, vulnerability, encouragement, attentiveness, care, curiosity, open-mindedness. Re-evaluating boundaries & redefine self-care. Model the process. Hold space for imperfection and transparency of that process. Celebrate one another.#LeadLAP
A6 Leadership is about relationships:
❤ Listening
❤ Building capacity
❤ Showing compassion
❤ Understanding complexity
❤ Developing efficacy
❤ Providing autonomy
❤ Providing feedback
❤ Having trust
❤ Respecting them
❤ Being there for them
❤ Celebrating
#leadlap
A4: I lead by using any opportunity to help other Ts understand what my Ss are going through and how to support them. I look for ways to share resources with others, even if it seems like no one appreciates it. Model what you believe. #LeadLAP
A2: I serve SS, staff, fam. & the community thru ldg work serving ELs, World Lang & Dual Lang Immersion Ss. My purpose is 2 lead thru equity & cultural proficiency/responsive lens 2 make pos dif n lives of all stakeholders #LEADLAP#ACSA17#ACSA17Chat#AUHSD#AUHSDUnlimitedYou
A4: Leading others involves both learning with and from them. For me it is an invitation to explore together and the belief that we learn best when we really listen to and respect each other’s ideas #LeadLAP
A4: I continue to lead others by showing support and allowing my colleagues and students to take chances. Reinforcing the idea that failing is ok because it means you continue to get up and try again! #LeadLAP
A4: Can be more difficult to lead colleagues than it is Ss. Ways I do that are:
*model continued learning
*lead PD & encourage/support others to do the same
*share resources/ideas
*drag them to confs/Twitter/virtual confs/EdCamps
#LeadLAP
A4: I am always leading w/ positivity. It's all about smiling, asking thoughtful questions, & providing honest & insightful feedback #LeadLAP#leadlapmass
A3: Why I show up is always the learners on campus - all learners. Students, teachers, parents, myself.

A4: I think that as a coach, I have a unique opportunity to see how LOTS of different types of Ts make magic in their classrooms. I try to promote and share the good things happening in classrooms around my building and help make connections between Ts. #LeadLAP#EdCampMALeads
I haven't yet. I was thinking of having them write thank you notes during this time, but to increase listening skills, 'ittle notes would be great. #LeadLAP
A3: People call me CRAZY.
I prefer PASSIONATE.
If asked to describe me, I would say others would say I’m:
Crazy
Fun
Dedicated
Loyal
Honest
Positive
Kind
Real (I’m human. I can be grumpy.)
Driven
Passionate
A runner
A talker
Loud
Truly an educator who loves kids.
♥️
#LeadLAP
A4: Part of being a leader is also being a learner. Make sure your team knows there is just as much you can and want to learn from them as they might be able to from you. Being a leader does not mean we are the only experts in the room. #LeadLAP
Thanks @nbartley6 for the questions & #LeadLAP crew for the great chat! It's the fastest 30 min ever! So many great things to think about moving into next week! Stay warm!
#LeadLap A4 I have a reasonably good rapport with people I meet, especially in context to education world. As a Dad, it gives me an edge to dive deep into strengths & weaknesses of the system and approaches and I get the advantage of being heard by different parties.
Challenge - super excited about shaking things up in my own professional journey... big changes are coming! I'll be able to share next weekend - woohoo!! #LeadLAP
#leadlap A1. Look them in the eye, acknowledge who they are, highlight their contributions to the world, and wish them a great day. Let them know you care and they matter, even if it is 60 seconds passing in the halls!
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us in #LeadLAP this morning. Special thanks to @nbartley6 for encouraging us to lead from any role! #EdCampMALeads
A4: 💜 using @Seesaw (saw it on #Twitter), trained myself, felt ease w/it, took #SeesawAmbassador course, submitted proposal for #NMDLC19 to train others, proposal accepted, facilitated training at our conference! 🥰 Seeing others learn & succeed makes me happy! #LeadLAP
A4: My colleagues definitely do the leading. I try to facilitate their leadership and vision by becoming thoughtful and intentional with questions and feedback. Empowerment breaks down person-dependent systems. We need WE and OURS if we want to replicate success. #LeadLAP
Yes! Absolutely agree!
Also saw a tweet last night saying - “You can’t put students first if you put teachers last.” Really spoke to me. As an admin, all learners are important part of the school. What are your thoughts on that line? #leadlap
My head is spinning & I will for sure go back through the chat that honestly rocked my world even at this incredibe fast pace! THANK YOU to all who joined and to all who will look back at the chat-can't wait to see your Lead beyond Your Title challenge come to life on #leadlap!
Thank you for saying we need quick SHORT reads! I can't keep up with all the great @dbc_inc books! Making an impact one child, one teacher, one minute, one hour, one day at a time! #leadlap@nbartley6@BethHouf
A4 leading colleagues and managing up: same goal really: make them all successful. But different strategies maybe. Leading up is easy if your upper has empowered you lead in every direction - which mine has
#LeadLAP
A3: I am intentional in trying to be the change I want to see each and every day, be sure to model the behaviors that I desire in my students and staff. I do it for me intrinsically...but outwardly I want people to know that this guys really cares and he is “All In.” #LeadLAP
A3: Growing as a learner is NB to me, so I provide them with as many opportunities as possible to collaborate, observe & be mentored, based on their interests & the direction we’re headed with our Ss. And I share my learning, mistakes & all. #LeadLAP
A4: by actively listening to them, affirming them, encouraging them to share their interests and attend workshops/in-services that will help them, other colleagues, and school community #LeadLAP
What a fast and furious #LeadLAP chat this morning. SO many great ideas and inspiring to tweet along side #EdCampMALeads peeps too!
Nothing like tweeting with friends... Thank you @nbartley6 for moderating this morning and @BethHouf for GH with us!
A4: Dialogue. The best thing I can do is hold space.Listen + restate what I heard so they feel understood.Desire to understand causality + belief that ppl are doing the best they can with what they can do at that time. Get curious, help reframe & elicit new possibilities. #LeadLAP
A4: By listening, by providing them with learning opportunities that support their growth as educators, by collaborating with them, by supporting them. #LeadLAP
CHALLENGE: My SAT Team and I will complete 34 fifteen minute parent/teacher/team meetings for gifted screening referrals within the next two weeks before Ss are pre-screened at our school - Whew...WE CAN DO THIS! #LeadLAP
A3 I hope they would see my passion and compassion! I choose not to celebrate Friday. Mind shift to #CelebrateMonday I enjoy being with you! Let's see what we can accomplish this week. #leadlap
A3: I would hope stakeholders would say that I lead w/ Ss nds 1st & show it n the ways I spend my time, relationships & going far above & beyond the title and what’s expected. I try to model the way. @KouzesPosner#LeadLAP#ACSA17#ACSA17Chat#AUHSD#AUHSDUnlimitedYou
A3 #leadlap Good question! I want to be more transparent . Am going to post in my room- MY JOB: to teach you to learn; to take you to YOUR next level YOUR JOB: to give me all you got! So we can achieve those together
Love this opportunity for teachers to debrief and de-escalate what we hold onto with those who walk in our shoes and understand! Beautiful @ASMILEwithAnna#LeadLAP
Hi! My name is Makenzie, and I am currently in college studying education!
A1: I think a big part of getting students to collaborate and be involved at school is making them the priority. We are there for them and, ultimately, they are there for themselves. #LeadLAP
A4.2 Using this process is part of how I hold the space for teachers to be owners of the vision. I'd Love your thoughts. https://t.co/ZxoRTQivOG#leadlap
Thanks #leadlap crew I enjoyed the chat, even if it was a bit hard too keep up in my current state. 😂 Thanks @nbartley6, loved your questions. Now, I’m going to bed!
This is a great response and one of the things that a building leader must work hard to do especially when they are first starting out. GREAT ANDWER #leadLAP
A4: By listening, by providing them with learning opportunities that support their growth as educators, by collaborating with them, by supporting them. #LeadLAP
A2: We exist to share, grow, and learn with Ss globally. We want to create authentic learning experiences for Ss that preps them for the real world and global community. #LeadLAP
We define our roles as educators by setting daily goals for ourselves in the classroom. We take each day at a time and work to be the best teachers to our students! Their success is our reward. #LeadLAP
A4 This is imp! 360 degree Ldrshp happens n all roles. I expect all those I ld to ld up as well. I ld up by asking reflective ques, hvf courageous convos & feeling comfortable w/ not always credited w/ ideas, etc. #LeadLAP#ACSA17#ACSA17Chat#AUHSD#AUHSDUnlimitedYou
A4) We have mentors for all our new staff. Last year my mentor checked in with me weekly to see how I was feeling and giving feedback. This year we continue that process! #LeadLAP
A1- We have Ss do everything from our morning announcements to working with our Pre-K-1st grade “littles” when we have events like our PBIS bootcamp. #LeadLAP
A4: supporting them when they dare to dream big...transformations, out of the box ideas, etc..and being hand on involved with it all. Who doesn’t like to play with their teachers and kids....relationships is key! #LeadLAP
Challenge this week: I will collaborate more on projects that I often take the lead on so that others will learn as well, and I can make a closer or new friend in the process! #LeadLAP
A3. I hope they would say that I bring positivity and kindness to the school, empower others to be the change and keep the focus on kids. It’s about character and how we treat others = relationships! #LeadLAP
A3: I hope my colleagues see me as someone who is invested in my students and their education. I hope they say I show up because I want to be there for my students and make sure they are getting my very best everyday. #LeadLAP
A3- Instead of leaving feedback in an email, I try to leave a thank you card or even catch them before I leave their room to tell them the great things happening. Personal connections and interactions can go a long way. #LeadLAP
A1. Our theme is “ Leading and Learning” meaning that both Ss and staff share the roles of leaders and learners. Ss lead S-led conferences, create their own growth opportunity through mastery learning contracts, and facilitate Intervention & Enrichment sessions w/peers #LeadLAP
A4: I would lead my colleagues by doing my part. Everyone's job relies on someone else's, so I would do my job to the best of my abilities to ensure they were able to perform their jobs well. A school should be a team with a common goal: to educate their students. #LeadLAP
A2. After teaching for 20+ years becoming “ boss” never felt right. I am simply a member of our CVMS team. We all contribute our parts for the good of our Ss. By eliminating a hierarchy and working side-by-side with Ts, we accomplish far more. #LeadLAP
Thought of making a job this year "Hand of the Queen" They would have to do what I would do if I were there. Wasn't really sure about calling self Queen. In my mind,?Sure. Always. But on the jobs board?? Maybe that's the thing I should do that scares me??
#Edcampmaleads#leadlap
Give them voice! We have stdnt. groups, including 1 that I (principal) meet w/ periodically to discuss themes/topics emerging from stdnt. surveys. This has resulted in bathroom upgrades, an anti-bullying assembly, & a kindness wall to name a few! #LeadLAP
A4. Hopefully, leading by example. I ask nothing of staff that I wouldn’t or don’t do myself. Getting feedback from and listening to thoughts and suggestions from all personnel validates their importance in our school. @FloroAdrienne#LeadLAP
