Switching to #SBG also helped me dig deeper into my content area and gave a more clear cut understanding of what I wanted Ss to do #sunchat
  • carlameyrink Oct 15 @ 9:11 AM EDT
Some of our Ts are trying it & we need grades. Work around - Ss self assess in a portfolio & grade themselves #sunchat

Kind of defeats the purpose, right? Letter grades? Meets, Progressing... how does one convert to a letter grade? Or a number? #sunchat
  • SturmDon Oct 15 @ 9:12 AM EDT
Yep that’s how @CAEddleman has to do it. 1-4 scale until very end when grades are due. #sunchat #sbg

    In reply to @scienceinsixth
  • scienceinsixth Oct 15 @ 9:12 AM EDT
I had a exceeds as an A, meets on a scale from a C-B and developing as a D. Ss only earned F if it was not attempted at all #sunchat
    In reply to @susankotch
  • carlameyrink Oct 15 @ 9:12 AM EDT
This is so true. If we want to grade against standards or learning targets we have to clearly know what they are = better teaching #sunchat

Just exploring this as a parent, as our schools still do grades from middle school on. And they're unrevealing. #sunchat
    In reply to @susankotch
  • perryafinch Oct 15 @ 9:12 AM EDT
We're in year 3 of #SBG, k-8 system. Was a natural transition 4 Ts who teach by standards. Ss adapt, Ps 4 the most part on board. #sunchat
  • susankotch Oct 15 @ 9:13 AM EDT
I would think parents of HS kids would worry that class rank is important for college apps. How does SBG fit in? #sunchat
